This is a review to the service dept at Open Road VW of Manhattan I am not a big review person i don't leave many reviews (i should) I always thank the person that helped or give me a service me but this time it’s require more than just a “thank you” it’s require a recognition. a few weeks ago I brought my VW for a repair at the open road VW of Manhattan service (it like a pharmacy for cars –kind of an amazing facility) and after back and forth with one Service Advisor that didn’t really help me just gave me the runaround for a few days... Linda the service manager stepped in and actually changed the whole experience – she helped me expedite the repair, she kept updated, gave me good advice, a loaner and most imported a real good customer service – i didn't think i will be ever going to use Open Road VW of Manhattan- the only reason I will be back and will refer other to at the it’s because of Linda executives at the open road VW of Manhattan I am sure you are already know that Linda is a shining star!! and if you don't than...OPEN YOUR EYES!! as person that run a business our star employees our MVP’s must have recognition! Linda… sorry it took me over a week but… thank you so much for all of your help

I have been a loyal VW driver for 20 years and have been with Open Road since the location opened in NYC. My 2012 Jetta was towed into the service department for repairs and while there I walked over to talk to Jeff Isaac-Hodge to ask a few questions about the possibility of a new lease. He was incredibly attentive, extremely nice, patient with me, and very willing to assist even though I was intending to repair my car and leave. The service department has been great over the years and I had every confidence in them, especially my new service consultant David Rivas. Outstanding! Go see Claus Jacobsen. Very easy no pressure purchase. I went to two other tri-state area VW dealers thinking that I would not be able to get my best price in Manhattan... low and behold, I saved the best for last! Open Road Manhattan is by far the cleanest and most modern facility I have seen. I always like to check out the service dept to get a true feel for the dealership and I was very impressed. Claus really made this a painless experience. I only purchase a vehicle every 10-15 years so was a little intimidated to walk into a dealership. Next thing I know, he had me trade in my car for a very reasonable price & worked with me on the rest of the financing, which took almost no time at all! Before I knew it, I was out of there with a brand new 2018 GTI & big smile on my face! Entire experience Jeff made absolutely painless not to mention quick! I went into the dealership for two reasons yesterday. 1. To pick up my leased Tiguan - it was in for inspection. 2. To speak with someone about options to either upgrade my lease or buy or lease a second car. I walked around the showroom looking for someone to help me fore 10 minutes. There was no receptionist and the entire sales team was sitting at their desks, which face away from the showroom (why?). Several of them were not with customers and saw me. Some were on their phones. After several more minutes, a salesman decided to get up and come see if I needed help. He didn't introduce himself when we first started talking or throughout the entire conversation. He asked if I needed something (odd). When I said I was hoping to talk to someone about the Atlas he said, "OK. What do you want to know". I had to ask very specific questions and he offered yes/no answers in a rude tone. He also lied twice about things - I did my research before I went in. Eventually I said it seemed like I was keeping him from something and that I'd have to come back at a time that was better for them. He then said, no come sit down and I'll give you some numbers. Again, as little words and information as possible. Before I left I asked if the dealership is under new management. The answer was yes. I then learned from a second employee that the moved some employees "up" to Audi as promotions and others "over" to VW. Feels like they moved the best from VW to Audi and the worst from Audi to VW. BAD strategy. I will be with this dealer through the end of my lease, but wouldn't buy an umbrella from them in a rain storm. There's a LOT of competition out there, even within VW.

I was hesitant walking to any dealership to discuss a new lease, I can tell you firsthand all fears of getting a new car disappeared once I was greeted by the sales staff at Open Road VW. I loved the fact they did not push me into a test drive, let alone a deal I did not want. They took their time with me, walked me through everything, and gave me a deal I can afford on a car I love. I dealt with Jeff Isaac-Hodge, such a good experience, he walked me through all steps and triple-checked that I understood everything. VW dealerships might sell the same cars but Open Road VW set themselves apart with their service. Not to diss VW compared to Audi, but I felt like I was getting the Audi treatment - that of a luxury car at a luxury dealership.

Service here is awful, expensive and unreliable. Quoted me 1 number, charged me significantly more. Wouldn’t accept the coupon they sent me via email, this place is the worst. UPDATE: I submitted a feedback form online and they never contacted me. SECOND UPDATE: They used my feedback as a way to discriminate against me when I called in about the same issue that was supposed to be fixed, if you speak up they will treat you even worse.

Completely awesome experience! Started looking for cars early November an after a few weeks 2015 limited edition Passat jumped out at me. Sent off an email and Jeff replied. He answered all my questions and even sent me a video of the car! On my first visit we went over a few things, my second visit I test drove the car and it was so smooth and comfortable!! Who would have thought that the easiest buying experience would be in midtown Manhattan!? After doing some research my wife and I were set on a new Golf Alltrack. So, off we went to view the car and met Jeff in person. There were a lot questions about the original posted price. Jeff involved the manager, we were unhappy with the result of this conversation and just about to walk out (4 times!) Back to Jeff... let me say this, he didn't insist that we should buy the car, but instead, he tried to find ways to make it up to us if we did buy the car. With his calm demeanor and humble personality, he navigated through our frustrations and disappointments. If you ask me to rate the dealership, I will give it a 3 star, but because of Jeff, I will give it 5 stars. This dealership is so lucky to have him. Open Road Volkswagen had a Jeep Patriot I was interested in. Even though I was in California, I decided to contact them. My sales consultant was Scott McCollum and right from the beginning he was very responsive to all my questions. Scott always responded to my emails and phone calls in a timely fashion and even sent me a YouTube video of the vehicle I was interested in so I could see the details. When I traveled to New York to sign the paperwork, the process was very efficient and quick. I bought a used Passat from them and had a wonderful experience. As soon as I got there, I was shown to the waiting area and given a bottle of water, and within 10 minutes I was on a test drive. It didn't matter that I was buying literally the cheapest car on the lot. They treated me with respect the whole time and really did their best to make the experience a positive one. A special shout out to Julissa. She was the absolute best. She never tried any shady sales tactics or tried to pressure me. She was just a solid person trying to get me the car that worked for me. If you go there, do yourself a favor and ask for her by name. I did A LOT of research on dealerships in the area. SO many of them try to trick you into coming to their lot before jacking up the price, or are dishonest about the shortcomings a car actually has. Don't waste your time like I did. If you're in the market for a VW, just go here. You wont regret it.

They have good costumer service for sales. However, the service department is horrible. We purchased our car there with 50k milage package. I brought car in for 10k service. It took them 2 weeks to return my car back. I also got a tire replaced there but they didn't put a DOT number on the receipt. So later on I couldn't claim a warranty under the road hazard package (make sure you ask them to put a DOT when you're purchasing tires through VW). At the end I had to pay out of pocket for replacing tire. Just 6 month after the 10k service, the warning sign for "check oil level" turned on. I brought it to a different dealership, they told me Open Road didn't even do oil change for the 10k service as it was not listed on the receipt for 10k service. By then I have already lost my 10k coverage for the 50k milage coverage package. So I guess it took them 2 weeks to replace my tire and wash the car lol. I think the only good thing I can say about their service is they did a good job washing my car. So I'm not coming back to Open Road. Good- bye!

We had such a stereotypical bait-and-switch car salesman experience that I couldn't believe it was real. We had test driven a VW and spent time with salesman, then came back to see it again and review everything. We agreed on a price and I asked him to confirm it via email. Two days later, I sent an email confirming that if we came down first thing in the morning we could pick up the car and complete the transaction. Yes, I was told the car would be ready. We took a cab to Open Road and while sitting with the salesman he told us that the car we saw wasn't there but they had a very similar one. Oh but this one had a sport package and was a few thousand more. No, I explained we want the car we agreed on. After explaining that it was no longer there (Don't know how that would be possible between the night before and early morning, well what do you know, they found the model we wanted and would bring it down. Oh, wait, this has a different set of mats... and a first-aid kit and some other garbage special coating or something so they couldn't honor the price that was confirmed via email from the night before. It would be an extra $1200 or so because of the add-ons. We got up to leave and... surprise... a "manager" came over to discuss with us what he could do. Said he wouldn't charge us for the first aid kit. We left and actually from the sidewalk, I cold called a VW dealer in CT, told them the car we were trying to buy and gave them the price we had agreed on. No problem they said, so we got on a train and still bought the car that morning but from an honorable dealer.

I've been bitterly disappointed by my experience with Open Road VW. I bought a new golf from the dealership in 2016 - it was a great experience and I had been happy with the service department for the past couple of years until my 40,000 mile service. I received my car back from my 40k service (which cost over $1,400 for regular maintenance and some fluid changes - a real rip-off) with personal items in the car damaged and with the car itself showing a new warning light on the dash that hadn't been there when I dropped it off. I circled the block and pulled directly back into the service garage - the man there essentially figured out how to make the service light temporarily go away and assured me someone would contact me the following day to address the issue. It's two weeks later, I've not heard back from the dealership, and I've called 4 times with no response from messages left either on management voicemails or with the receptionists. Really disappointed - the whole experience has left me to feel ripped off by Open Road.

i started leasing a VW Tiguan car with Open road in 2016. As part of the deal, I turned in a previously leased car, also a VW Tiguan. I did not expect to receive a bill for $1,500, two months later, after the deal was been done, for damages to the car i had turned in. My sales rep., Scott McCollum, had had a look at the car I was turning in and did not mention anything. I felt I was turning in a car in great condition and with a very low mileage, which would be beneficial to them. i did not expect to be hit with fees from Volkswagen Credit, whom inspected the car afterwards. Perhaps more problematic, is that Open Road VW and VW credit (requesting the $1,500) are different entities and they are playing this to their advantage and against the customer... It was difficult to get a hold of my sales representative for help with this issue. (Several phone calls not returned and an email without a reply). However, just recently, I was able to get through (perhaps by luck, or perhaps because I had first asked to talk to the manager who as not there). Scott McCollum said he couldn't do anything about it, that he wouldn't pay for it (i wasn't asking him to). He agreed however to talk to them on the phone. The collection agency agreed to lower the price by %30. Which is still not ok to me. CONCLUSION: Don't do what I did. Don't go with the flow. Definitely, do not trust in the process. At the end of the day, the dealership is trying to make a deal and they omit important information. a deal. If you must turn in a car -- wait and get a full car inspection from VW credit before signing any deal.
