Although a customer of Helena Motors, I lilve in Bozeman and work several jobs there. Because of this, I was not able to come to Helena for the installation of the damaged part on the window of my RAV 4. John and Tammy arranged for the part to be shipped to Bozeman where I was also given great customer service in getting everything fixed. So many times, customers are inconvenienced and made to feel like they don't matter. Because I work in a customer service oriented business, I am keenly aware of good and bad customer service. However, the service I received from John, Tammy and Jill (at the Bozeman Toyota store) was outstanding and I felt you should know. Drove all the way from Dutton to get a car. Spent the morning looking at some cars and had 1,000 to put down on a car listed on there site for 500 down and $125 a month. Wasted nearly the entire day to be told that the banks were taking longer than normal. Could have saved myself the trip and faxed all the information they needed to be told no. Won't be going back there again.

It took 30 days to get a warranted engine replaced - that only has a 1 year warranty because it was a replacement for an engine that lasted less than a year! Talking to the owner of the business got an apology but no better warranty or anything else. Since this vehicle is a business vehicle it really was a major setback to be without the vehicle for a month during our busiest season.

DO NOT LET THEM WORK ON YOUR VEHICLE. (Details Below) Took my car in for a simple recall and ended up with a destroyed engine and thousands of dollars in repairs out of my own pocket. Complete details are in the Linked Image. None of these repairs were covered by warranty because they insist I must have messed with the crank pulley because I have an aftermarket intake + intercooler installed. Neither of those parts require any touching of that system. February 2018 - Headgasket Recall - Helena Motors installs new headgasket + new heads. - Requires disassembling the crank pulley August 2018 - March 2019 - Bad Idle, No Power, Stalling at lights - Caused by Helena Motors incorrectly doing my Headgasket Recall. - Helena Motors puts 100 miles on car, can't figure out issue. - Resulted in destroyed engine (below) - Destroyed Engine (piston hit valve) - Happened under Helena Motors care while they had my car trying to diagnose issues. - Caused by Helena Motors using incorrect parts on crank pulley during Headgasket Recall - They claim my fault, I was required to pay $1000 to get the engine covered... - Detached clutch cable - Towed back to Helena Motors - Caused and fixed by Helena Motors. - Turn over no start - Towed back to Helena Motors - Caused and "fixed" by Helena Motors - Paid out $950 for new ECU as part of the "fix" - Exhaust Leak (at this point I go to Chevy) - I take car to a reccommended guy at Chevy - He discovers Helena Motors re-used gaskets on new engine... - Re-used gaskets (from old engine) - Discovered by Chevy Dealer - Paid out of pocket to have fixed by Chevy - Destroyed (melted) Catalytic Converter - Likely happened when engine was destroyed - Paid out of pocket to have fixed by Chevy - Turn over no start - Paid $705 out of pocket to have towed to Missoula Ford. - Missoula Ford says Helena Motors completely wired the car wrong. Says I should never have paid for a new ECU. Half the electricals not functioning correctly. - Missoula Ford is currently fixing the issue.

We drove to Helena this weekend without the intention of purchasing just yet, but when we found our Armada (thanks to Jessica Agee), Kirk Loveridge stepped right up and wouldn't let us leave until we made a deal ...he even brought my baby girl Band-Aids for her knees :) Jeff Walker in the finance department was absolutely wonderful as well! My husband & I both agreed that if we lived closer, we would gladly have him over for dinner. Our two girls were made to feel right at home during the entire process, and that is huge to us. 10:30 am appointment. At 11:10 am the vehicle still hadn't been started on. It was pulled around at 10:30, then moved back around to the waiting area. I had to go in and ask what the eta was, then was informed that a vehicle ahead of me was holding things up. The only saving grace is when I said pull my car out so I can leave, they offered to do the service for free. I will return, only because the free offer warrants a second chance. "Second chance failed" 7-6-18 8:30am appointment, dropped off. 3:30 pm received phone call that tires couldn't be rotated because the truck is too big for their lift. 7hrs to decide it couldn't be done. Ford dealership couldn't service the Ford truck I brought in, and couldn't be bothered to tell me for 7hrs. When I made a complaint, the service consultant tells me that I "don't have to bring the vehicle there for service " a real class act that one. I've brought that vehicle in several times before-and had other issues with them- and they are the ones who actually recommended the tire rotation in the first place. I no longer trust that they have qualified people working in their shop, and certainly not in their customer service area.

They reviewed services available services for the mileage on my vehicle but did not try to sell me on them. The final price was the same as originally quoted. Great service and a free car wash too.

I have been happy with the work most of the time. My biggest complaint is if they say your oil change will take 1 hour... it's not ready for at least 3 hours. Their estimates for how long things will take have been hours off for me everytime (I've tried morning, afternoon and eveningish times) They also seem a little disorganized from time to time. Saying my car needs something then going back on it. Usually relating to recalls.

The service was prompt and my car door handle mechanism was replaced in two hours while I waited. The only negative was having to pay $525 to repair a door for a 23 year old truck. Ouch! However, the recent work that you did on my diesel engine was terrific! It runs better than it has for a long time. Your mechanic, Chris, was able to get me running again at an affordable price, after initially thinking the whole engine needed to be replaced. We appreciate that he took the time to really investigate the source of the problem. We use this truck to plow our driveway in the winter so we really need it in operating condition. Thanks!

With the construction at there new building. I got lost in the wrong building looking for service for my Honda. Not one person seemed to be around or care to ask. I was walking down a hall completely frustrated and this really sweet voice said, "Can I help you!" I found a Mustang GT online at your dealership. I saw that the car was low mileage. I called and spoke to Steve Miller and decided to drive to Helena and see the car. Mr Miller was very professional and helpful. I did not need to test drive it as I had owned an 03, I started it up and engine sounded great. The interior was premium which is a big seller to me I like leather. Decided to see If I could make a deal. I thought the price a little high,but it has very low mileage, and we struck a deal. I could not get back to dealership right away as I was waiting for balance of downpayment funds to get to me. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle it was clean and looking sharp in your show room very impressive. Best auto buying experience I've had in my entire life and I have purchased a lot of vehicles. Not happy with the service. I Just wanted a simple oil change and apparently I got more then I didnt want. My engine smells like burned oil along with a new ticking sound. My car was left unvacuumed. I was asked if I wanted my alignment fixed for a total of $99 dollars without blue prints showing if I really needed it done. Oil was left on the front hood of my car. Ive gone to Ford in the past, service was always good, but I definitely will not be giving my service there again.

I had my wife bring in my pickup for a scheduled oil change and tire rotation. She told them that she was waiting in the guest area for the work to be done as these are usually done within 30-40 minutes. There was an extremely strong perfume smell in the waiting room and the job took over 2 hours. It was not a good experience for her and I doubt she will volunteer to help me out in the future bringing my vehicle in for maintenance. To make matters worse her co-worker went in later that day for similar maintenance and was out in 30 minutes. It was a bummer, my experiences are usually really good.

Wanted to look at a new Highlander, was shown the cheap model and acted like they didn't have time for me. Was told to "go home and talk to your husband first if you want a test drive." Ended up going back in and demanding a test drive. Went next store and bought a brand new Honda Pilot the next day instead with great service at another dealership, they even brought it to my place of work so I could test drive the pilot after work. Went in for an oil change last week and told them to do the recall work as well on another vehicle of ours. They refused to do the recall work and said I'd have to come back for that and other needed work. Was then told to "go home and talk to my husband about what work we wanted to get done." I could tell exactly what needed to be done so made them schedule the next appointment. So, went back in another day, they did the recall but not the other needed work (even though that was scheduled when I made the appointment). Am taking it back yet again tomorrow to get the other work done as the car is not safe to drive out of town. Will then have to take it in a fourth time to finish getting work done on it-all of which was scheduled to be completed at the follow-up appointment yesterday. Will never buy another car from Helena Motors and, once warranty is up, I'm only going back to get recalls worked on. I'll find another place for service. Very, very frustrated.

Bought my car here and have had it serviced here since new. The staff are great and the mechanics seem competent. Any problems with services received have been resolved immediately if able and they pursue any unsloved problems reliably and keep in touch. The staff are really stellar here, can't say that enough. Further down the line I went through a nightmare with this dealership. They put a license plate mount on wrong and ruined the bumper on my 17 Focus ST with only 1,000 miles on it AND put regular barrel oil in the car instead of the synthetic I had requested. They changed the oil again and after negotiating with them they finally offered to replace the bumper. Then they went with some private “at home” type of shop to have it painted and the color was all wrong. I had to REALLY argue to get it repainted to the correct color. Scott who was a service manager at the time this all happened flat denied it was the wrong color and basically told me to get bent. I had to go to a local professional shop and have a painter there call them and pretty much testify that the color was off and even then they were resistant. I ended up emailing the president of the dealership corporation about the whole situation and to his and their credit he reached out to me promptly and agreed to get the bumper re-painted the correct color. Because the president was so good to me and immediately solved the problem I was having with the dealership I decided to continue to go there for service. I nervously took my Focus in to get an oil change thinking what could they screw up with that? I was wrong. A woman who was one of the service advisors came over to where I was waiting after I had been there almost an hour and my car had been in the bay for at least half of that, and said they had performed a recall on the car during the oil change. I was grateful at first, though was a little put off that they hadn’t made me aware that they were going to do more then an oil change before they performed the work. Previously I had a factory tune put on the car that dramatically changed the performance and characteristics of the car as well as changing when the shift light came on. When I got in the car after the work was complete it had been reverted to stock. I had paid $500 just to have a dealership put the tune on so I was a bit heated. I took it back and they argued with me saying that the work they did couldn’t be the cause. I had to argue with them in front of other customers, getting quite worked up, for almost 20 minutes before they finally went and asked the Technician if the recall work could remove the tune. He confirmed it could. They said they could not reinstall the tune because they didn’t have the tools. I agued some more saying they needed to make it right. They finally agreed to figure out a way to make it happen. I then had to call Ford Performance and figure out how to get a copy of my tune. It was a pain and I had to wait almost a month because the old tune didn’t work with the car after the recall work and they were writing a new tune for it and it would take a 4-6 weeks. Though they always, in the end, fixed what they messed up, the fact is they kept messing up. I traded my Focus for a Jeep and now go to Lithia Ram Jeep to get my service done and the experience has been much more positive.

I have been very happy with the Helena Motors group. In the last few years I have bought 2 cars from Jim Knight. Never any pressure to buy and in the case of my second car the dealership did not have what I was looking for. Jim didn’t try to sell me something else, and told me he would keep an eye out. Several months later he let me know they might have what I wanted if I was still interested. Again no pressure when I looked at it, but it was exactly what I was looking for. Detail service shoddy; appointment meaningless; charged for a wax I specifically asked them three different times not to do My boyfriend and I made an appointment for my car at Helena Motors at 8AM on a Thursday morning. We were very clear to the person helping us that we were only interested in the basic package which does not include a wax. She quoted him $109.95 which is the normal fee for their basic package. We were told the service should take about 4-5 hours. I showed up on time to my appointment. The clerk who helped me asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the package that included the wax, and mentioned that they were running a deal on it. I politely declined and told him clearly that I was not interested in the wax and just wanted to stick with the basic package. Because we were told that the process would take 4-5 hours, and we dropped the car off at 8AM, I was expecting the car to be done between 12-1PM. I received no phone call. I called them at 1:30PM to ask if my car was finished. The man I spoke to informed me that the servicemen had started two hours late on my car, and wouldn't be done until 4PM. At 4PM I received a call from a different worker telling me they had finished my car, complete with a wax. I told him very clearly I was not paying for the wax; I specifically asked them not to wax my car. He told me they were running a special on the wax and that it wouldn't be a problem. When I went to pick up my car, I was shocked at the shoddy work performed. There was still plenty of easily visible dog hair, and parts of the interior looked like they hadn't been touched at all. I asked to talk to the manager, Scott, and was told he had left early in the day and that they were unable to continue working on my vehicle that evening. I asked the lady who helped us to keep my car over night and work on it the next day. She agreed. The next day I waited for a phone call telling me they had finished with my vehicle. I never received a call. Finally, at 4PM I decided I would just show up instead of trying to handle it over the phone. When I arrived I was told they had finished with my car earlier in the day. I inspected the car, and it looked almost identical as the night before. They had cleaned a section that previously looked untouched, and nothing else. The lady that helped me agreed that they should have done more, and admitted to not following up with the serviceman. I needed my car for the holiday weekend, so she asked me to bring my car in Tuesday afternoon for additional work. I brought it in Tuesday afternoon, and received a call three hours later that it was finished. The work was much improved, although there was still a spot between the back seat and the back window that looked like it hadn't been touched. I asked for a discount for the terrible service and hassle I received. I was informed second hand from the manager, Scott, that because I got a free wax, he would only give me ten dollars off. The ten dollars doesn't even cover the gas money I used going back and forth to their shop. For all of that hassle, time wasted, and unorganized, unprofessional service, I paid them $100. Once home, I took some rolled up packing tape to the section that still had hair, and cleaned it up myself in about 3 minutes. Suffice to say I will never go back to this establishment again. If anyone mentions to me that they need work done on their car I will tell them to steer clear of Helena Motors.

We recently came down from Great Falls to meet with Jim Knight about looking at a truck. We only had a small window of time and thought we would be able to just do a test drive. Jim was so helpful and efficient with the process that we actually ended up buying the vehicle that day. Everything about the experience was fantastic. They even have a great test drive route that lets you see how the vehicle handles on side streets, highway and interstate. Had a couple questions about the financing a month later and I received a call back and issue taken care of within 5 minutes. I actually look forward to doing car deals with them in the future.

We were in the market for a pre-owned, low miles SUV. We had a definite amount to spend and wanted the best value for the money we had. Our salesperson was Traci. We had test drives with her and she was able to answer all our questions about technical details of the Escape. The best part of our experience was that Traci was not a "hard sell" type of salesperson. We told her that we were test driving cars from several different dealers and that we were in the "looking" stage. She was happy with that and did not pressure us. Sought service on E350 RV due to overheating issues. Approach to remedy seemed to be a little trial and error and after $2300 - water pump, fan clutch, tune up- I had to return 10 minutes after leaving with overheating. Service advisor Steve was very responsive and professional. New radiator later- gauge still indicating hot but tech saying temps fine. Electrical issue with gauge resulted with new sending unit and same issue. After another $600 dorbthe radiator I was told more diagnostic time would be needed to solve the gauge issue. I passed- found the wire myself the next day hanging under gauge and solved problem. I was pleased with the service advisor but disappointed in the cost and trial and error approach. Jim Murphy

You guys did wonderful! I came in for an oil change, and ended up having quite a few recalls on my 2013 Ford Fusion. The maintenance team changed my oil right away and was able to get me in the next week once the parts had arrived and fixed my car within the business day. The only thing I would like differently next time, (and this is partially my fault) is for the maintenance staff to tell me what the recalls were, instead of just telling me that I had recalls that needed to be fixed. Other than that, you guys did awesome, and I look forward to working with you in the future!

YAY WOODY!! It was time to pass down my car to my son and purchase a new one for me. I hit a few places for the Labor Day weekend sales before Helena Motors, but don’t really care for “high pressure” sales so did not stay on those lots long... I had done internet research and knew just what I was looking for at each place, I did not want to be pressured into something more. Woody assisted me and did not even attempt to sway me into getting something different than what I had my eye on. I left with the perfect car for me! Last note, just before I went car shopping I was telling my coworkers that I wish I could get Chris to go with me, he is a rather large Deputy Chief in Probation and Parole. Anyone thinking of leasing anything don’t do it they flat lied to me said there is no penalty for getting out early, there is! Every lease payment that you are getting out early is money they want . If I could give 0 I would. Also there service department sucks and can never seem to find a way to save you a penny. The you getter better deal on oil changes if you buy them in advance they didn’t seem to find it. I leased a 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
