Dropped my car off for routine service yesterday afternoon and got a loaner. Wanted to minimize my time out of the office. Got up this morning and the car appears to be in anti theft mode. Called the dealership and 45 minutes later they tell me it could be a bad battery and they will send a tech to look at it. What the heck. I'm stuck at the house with a loaner waiting on some tech to fix it. I already missed 2 hours of work and have no idea when the tech will get here. Then I'll still have to go get my car from the dealership. This cost me an unplanned day our of the office. NOT HAPPY.

I took the vehicle in because the “Check Engine” light turned on, and for issues with the ignition. The SAME DAY I picked up the vehicle, the “Check Engine” light lit up again and I was still having issues turning on the ignition. That SAME DAY, I called the service specialist, left a voicemail, and called again the next day, only to be told that I needed to spend another $2000+ to get it fixed. I spent over $400 for them to return the vehicle in worse condition. Appalling and very disappointing, not to mention unethical to take money from a customer and NOT fix the problem.

Purchased a used 2014 Honda Odyssey for my wife on May 6th, 2017. I was contacted by Michael Wallace the evening before to confirm an appointment to meet with him that Saturday morning. Michael met me first thing Saturday AM and promptly grabbed the keys, so I could test drive the vehicle. Michael was very pleasant to work with and made the car buying experience easy. After agreeing on purchasing the vehicle, I was greeted by their Sales Manager who was also very pleasant. My final step to finalizing the deal, was meeting with their Finance Service Manager Patricia Pruitt. She was really nice and did not keep me long, as she knew I had to be somewhere in the early afternoon. I was out the door with a new/used car for my wife at noon! I am not a fan of the whole purchasing a car process, but this team made my experience easy and pleasant!

Peter Larson of Herb Gordon Volvo has genuinely excellent customer service skills and makes his clients feel valuable! We had communicated with Peter over email a few times and then showed up without prior notice at the dealership. Although, he was busy, he took time and gave us undivided attention. During our test drive, he told us about the strengths and explained the complex technology of the vehicle in easy terms. Sometime, in the end, it boils down to bottom line ($$$) and Peter wasn't offended when we offered significantly lower price than the MSRP. Instead, he seems to be advocating for us and we drove out with a great car at an excellent price. Herb Gordon Volvo and Peter are great to do business with.

Herb Gordon Volvo is hands-down, the best Volvo dealership from NoVA to Baltimore. This Silver Spring dealership gave me the all around best customer service, treatment and transparency in how they operate from day one--all the way to parking my rear into and driving off the lot in a Volvo I absolutely love. Folks, you will not find another Volvo dealership like Herb Gordon anywhere within a 55 mile radius of Silver Spring. The sales staff, general manager and shop technicians are excellent. In particular, my dealer, Iris is in a class act, in a class all her own. She is so likable and her approach is to help get you in a vehicle you like with her full attention on you, the customer and the cars, which she not only knows well, but can speak of, genuinely, honestly from personal experience as a Volvo owner long before she worked for Volvo (Herb Gordon). Iris is right there with you, listening to your every question and concern. I am not exaggerating when I say, it was as if she was a relative as interested and enthusiastic about test driving and exploring the vehicles' features right along with me. Lastly, Iris has no guise about her, nor do the other friendly members of the Herb Gordon team I met, especially Peter (manager) and Neil (technician). Go ahead, shop around. You may find comparable deals or even the exact Volvo you want on the lot at another dealership. ...What you won't find is the top-notch service, respect, enthusiasm, clear terms and the added benefit of on-site maintenance like you will at Herb Gordon. Lastly, you sure as heck won't find a group of sales people or sales person, that can touch Iris.

If there was a lower rating I would certainly select it. I have been a Volvo owner for decades and currently have an XC90. I was robbed yesterday along with my purse and key fob, and wallet. I went directly to the Volvo dealer from the incident to ask for their help in reprogramming my key, for fear that the thief had my address and key. The service manager would not allow me to use a loaner because I didn’t have ID and they wouldn’t help with the reprogramming that day. As a reminder, I’ve been coming here for years and have shown my license numerous times for loaners for servicing. They refused to even entertain that fact nor would they reprogram the keys then so I didn’t have to risk my safety. Today, I spent the morning at the MVA to apply for a new license and headed back to Volvo. The service manager has ignored me since I got here over an hour ago and the General Service Manager Noah will only make excuses for their behavior. Just a blanket statement that this is Volvo’s policy. I’m now headed to Enterprise since they will not loan me a service vehicle. I’ve left message for Ed Sarecky and am awaiting a return call. I would hope that in the future that Volvo would do better with customer service for loyal, long time customers. I will most definitely not use this dealership again in the future.

My only complain is that the vehicle we purchased needed a wash and at least vacuumed the inside, but our salesman was Peter, he was very professional and assisted my husband and me right away not to mention how knowledgable he is about cars. He was not to pushy or seemed desperate to make a sale. I would like to mention he was helping out another family as well while helping us out and he managed to give good cust. service to both clients. We called ahead to let them know we were on our way and Peter already had the vehicle outside for us. We test drove it and ended up purchasing the car. Our trade in was pretty fair. My husband and I dont have the kind of time to go to different dealerships so we knew what we wanted. I think our best experience was with Bryan over at Subaru. He helped with the finance part of the purchase and by all means he was extremely kind and honest with us. Herb Gordon's staff are professional , high speed people! Now that my husband has his new car, its time for my new car and we will be sure to go to Herb Gordon's Subaru

Many people describe buying a car a painful. THIS WAS NOT. This is the second Volvo I have bought at Herb Gordon, in Silver Spring, and frankly the buying pleasure was all mine, well mine and my daughters. I was looking for a replacement vehicle after hers was totaled, we ended up buying a pre-owned S60. The smile on her face today as she drove it away, you cannot buy that stuff. I first dealt with Peter Larson over the phone, then a quick visit with him and Ed Sarecky. We chose the car, no pressure, a test drive, Done. See you in 48 hours to complete everything, and pick up the car. 48 hours later, all squared away in less than 90 minutes. Cannot thank everyone at the dealership enough, they are a class act, and as I said, the smile on her face. As for me, I am waiting for the new Volvo V40 to arrive, as a replacement for my Acura. I need a black one with black interior, hope Ed and Peter are reading this.

Edited review: Our initial experience was ok. Our salesmen was nice but not extremely knowledgeable but we had done enough research on the car we wanted and this dealership just happened to have it in from a trade. That said we worked out what we thought was a deal we could be happy with including a trade that Mario the sales manager agreed to. Here we are three weeks later and he's not holding up to his end of the deal and wants to change the price of the trade but keep the contract the same AND my trade STILL hasn't been paid back. This is NOT what we agreed to! UPDATE: After reaching out and speaking with the Ed the GM, my issue was resolved. He agreed that the original terms needed to be kept, and honored the trade amount as well as the other terms of the deal. It's unfortunate that the actions of one person tainted the car buying experience for us, but I'm very happy with how quickly the GM responded to my call, rectified the situation, and made himself available for any future needs.

I cant speak for everyone else but 1st I called to ask a service question. The service representative informed me I needed to speak with a service advisor. Upon being transferred, I was directed to an answering machine. I left a detailed message and ask for a reply back..Needless to say after 3 days, no response. Called again, left a message. No response. Finally called and got with the service advisor. Kinda got the question answered. Called back again to attempt to make an appointment. Was either disconnected or hung up on. Called back again, ask for service department. Got the service advisor but was placed on hold due to technical issues. Upon being on hold I was directed to subaru. The subaru directed to the volvo operator. Upon asking to be transferred again, I was directed to leave enter an extension. Called back again and the operator stated she would send me to the volvo cashier. After being transferred, the phone rang and rang but no one picked up. Called again and was directed to service but no response. Called back again and ask if the operator could just take my name and number and ask someone from volvo could call me back. Unfortunately, it was the subaru operator so this was NOT possible. Call again and got the volvo operator and again ask if someone could just call me back to make an appointment (as i quickly got frustrated with the back and forth). She did take my phone number and informed that she would relay the message. I called 9 times in a matter of 12 minutes. Again, unfortunately, Im not expecting as none of my other calls were return. I am also thinking if is this much trouble just to GET the appointment, Im a bit nervous about the service process. Im wont call back if they do not return my call. I just moved to ths area and will just take both of my vehicles to another dealer in the area this can assist. My first impression is a total disappointment especially if you compare it to the service I have received in Europe prior to my arrival here.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Volvo Silver Spring. My wife needed a car due to a new job, and a pre-owned S60 fit the bill. Abraham was incredibly helpful in showing us available inventory and was not pushy whatsoever (a huge plus). The sales manager, Eddie Reyes, was also a consummate professional. We never got a high-pressure sales pitch which was counter to previous experiences at other places. Beyond the sales experience, the dealership is clean (on the smaller side) with an inviting atmosphere (free coffee, water, etc.). Although they didn’t budge on the price much, the vehicle we purchased was fairly priced (and we got it for $2000 below KBB value). I highly recommend this dealership when you’re looking for a new vehicle.

The whole dealership is pleasant to work with but the best part of the Herb Gordon Volvo experience for us is our sales person, Neal Hyman. There has been a significant change at Herb Gordon Volvo! Two years ago, my sister went to Herb Gordon Volvo to purchase a convertible and had a terrible experience with the sales department. I had scheduled a test drive over the weekend with my sales consultant, Peter Larson, who was amazing to work with. Every question I had about the vehicle, history of the vehicle, and financing, Pete was able to answer for me. I would also like to give a big thank you to the general sales manager Greg Corbut too! Without Pete and Greg there is no way I could have gotten the AMAZING deal that I got on my FR-S. Car dealership is not bad but work shop is terrible. I purchased new tires from them and some reason my car shakes when I get to 55 mph.I had to take my car 3 times and it is still not fixed. Same thing happened to my brand new Xc 90, brake make squeaking noise. I took 2 times and still making the same noise. They just do a patch work. I would not recommend to do any work on your car from them except the oil change.

Best experience we have had at a car dealership! We have been looking at Volvo dealerships around the area for the exact car that we wanted, a passion red 2015 XC60 R-Design. After reading all of the great reviews of this dealership, we decided to make contact. We spoke to Dustin over the phone, who arranged to have the vehicle ready (and even came in on his day off) to meet us. We ended up not being able to make it that day, however, he met us the next day and took us for an extended test drive where he explained all of the many features of the vehicle. Dustin was friendly, knowledgeable, humble and very laid back. I really appreciated this after previous experiences at other dealerships. I really felt like I got the time with the vehicle to understand it and its ride. The manager Mario and all of the other folks at Herb Gordon were also excellent as my husband was able to wait inside with our dog as I test drove the vehicle. We had done a lot of internet research, and after the test drive made what we felt was a fair offer; Dustin took the number and came back with a counter even lower than what we had offered them! It went from a fair deal to a great one! Their finance staff (Bryan) was friendly, flexible and worked with us to help us save even more money in the financing of the vehicle. While we were knocking out the paperwork Dustin took the time to set up a number of the driving aids on the new car including setting the GPS to our home destination. All in all it was the most pain free car buying experience we have had out of the last 7 cars we’ve bought in the last 20 years and cannot speak highly enough of the sales and finance staff at Herb Gordon Volvo.

Spent $1600 for multiple repairs. Received car smelling inside which I was told to drive with the windows open going home in 30 degree weather. And, my car was not washed and was told to go wait in line at local car wash which had a 25 min wait. Customer experience was very poor.

He gave me a vehicle to drive (he declined to go along for the test drive) and I finalized my decision to purchase one. If you can't answer my questions and show me how the features work, I won't give you my check to cash.I called Herb Gordon and was given an appointment with Laurie Miller. Well, I happily drove away in my stunning new XC60 yesterday, three days after our initial meeting! You know the dreaded "back and forth" with the sales manager? It didn't happen with Laurie and her Sales Manager, Ed Sarecky. Ed came out of his office, shook my hand and gave me his cell phone number. I wanted to buy a Volvo and they wanted to sell one, it was that simple. This dealership is what I never imagined existed, the easy button of car buying. I had such a great experience that I am almost sorry it's over, all but the driving of the fabulous new XC60 that is mine, all mine.

This is the second time I've had my Volvo S60 serviced here and I will continue to return. While they were booked out a couple weeks in advance the quality of service was well worth the wait. The 30k mileage service, oil change, and vehicle inspection were performed quickly while I waited in the spotless lounge. They had bagels and coffee in the lounge which was much appreciated. After the service was complete Jose Espejo, the service advisor, took the time to explain to me work that had been performed and items which may need attention in the future. I would definitely recommend bringing your vehicle here as you will receive professional service. Next time I will call about three weeks in advance, as they are booked out on the weekends. Overall, a great experience!

I went in to buy an XC40 but was persuaded to lease instead. The finance manager was not friendly and did not explain things I had questions about regarding how the lease was calculated. She and the manager told me that all XC40 leases are the same. I looked into it a bit and found out the total price of the lease I was quoted, including payments and down payment, was much higher than the Volvo website total lease price, so I complained. Another manager I spoke with said I had to put down more money to get that deal. For some reason, putting down extra money dropped the rent charge quite a bit, lowering our overall cost by lease end by over $2,000. It seems like something strange was going on. The rent charge we are paying still seems really high so I'm not convinced that they figured it correctly and am also not convinced it was better to lease rather than buy in this case. I guess time will tell. The first finance manager had also slipped in a paper to sign saying they did not owe me anything for my trade! This made me lose trust in the dealership even more. I did like the second finance manager we worked with much better and he gave me proof that they owed us a check for the balance of our trade when I asked for it. We have always had good experiences buying cars in the past with other dealers who seemed to be able to balance our best interests with their need to sell us a car. Those dealers understand that reviews and repeat business are just as important as quick profit. I'm giving them 3 stars because they did at least lower the rent charge by 2K when I complained and gave me a fair price for my trade. Next time I will get prices from other dealers on leases for the same car and do a lot of homework first to make sure I can look out for my own best interests down to the very last detail. I would also take a couple of hours to read every last detail of the huge stack of paperwork they make you sign to make sure nothing is being slipped in that I would not want to sign. This goes for any dealer from now on.

Ive had nothing but issues since purchasing here. We stopped by on a whim after being very disappointed at another Volvo dealership. We were in a time rut and needed to buy a car that day. We pretty much knew exactly what we wanted so we just had to pick out the car. We met with Neal Hyman in sales and we were fairly happy. Service was slow and they had issues with keeping their papers straight and organized. They showed us a car that wasn't apple to be sold and they didn't realize until after the paperwork and car cleaning was started. Then we picked another and started that process all over again. We also added a few accessories for the car into our loan (cargo mat, Safety gate, and window shades). We ended up leaving the dealership at 11pm that night (6/12/18) with our brand new Volvo XC90 and had to wait for the accessories to be shipped. About a week later, Neal called to inform us that the accessories were never added into the loan and we would have to pay outright or redo all the paperwork- we just paid cash. A week or two passes without hearing anything about shipping info or about the license plate so I reached out. Neal said everything was on track and the parts just arrived and would be shipped from the dealer to our home. The last week in June, I received an email from Marc in finance asking for copies of our ID's and proof of income for our loan paperwork and I got that sent right over. On July 16th. I reached out to Neal again because we had not received out $1,000 in accessories or our license plate-no answer but left a voicemail. July 17th. I called again and no answer or return call. So on July 19th. I called again and no answer, then I asked to speak with parts since they may have some information. I spoke with someone and explained the situation and they told me they would return my call when they got answers- they never did. On July 20th I called Neal again and left another voicemail and then I was given his cell number which I called and was able to reach him. Neal said that my parts were NEVER shipped out and were just sitting there for the past two months. He said they were shipped that day and he had no info on the license plate. He blamed the whole ordeal on the parts manager and took none of the blame, even though I had reached out multiple times and he said all was good (clearly lying through his teeth). This was such a big deal because we were leaving the country for two weeks and our $1,000 accessories were now to arrive while we are gone, sitting in front of our house. The other issue is Neal was never even going to call to inform us that they were never sent! I asked Neal to please ensure the license plate was good to go because our temporary tag was to expire 8/11/18 and we need a license plate - he said he would handle it all and it would arrive before we returned. While out of the country we received another email from Marc in finance asking for copies of our ID's again! Apparently, He lost them for a third time!!! I managed to find service and a way to make this happen. A few days later, we received another email from a completely different person in finances asking if we could resign power of attorneys for the title because the paperwork was done with the wrong VIN number- no clue how that happens! The complications were then blamed on not working with one "point of contact" and thats were all the mix ups have occurred from. Apparently calling Neal about everything is not one point of contact I guess. It is now August 7th and I am still dealing with issues and we do not have a license plate. This is a very lazy way to handle business with someone who just spent over $60,000 at your dealership. I completely wish we would have gone to a dealership closer to us, anything would have been better then this!

I brought a used 2011 Buick LaCrosse from HERB GORDON VOLVO of SILVERSPRINGS MD on March 25, 2017. Iris my sales person was wonderful, however, on Friday, April 21,2017 while driving, the car it severely overheated. The car had run wonderful to that point, however, as it was our first hot day, I had been running the air conditioner for sometime. The check engine light came on and the error code "engine power reduced", appeared. I called and spoke with the General Sales Manager, Noah G. I asked him if it was possible to return the car as I was suspicious of a fully inspected vehicle with 65k miles on it overheating out of the blue less than 30 days after purchase; and having seen the Carfax, realizing that 3 people had owned the car in the previous six years, added to my suspicion that this might be a recurring issue. Mr. Noah, told me bluntly, you have a 6 year old car, what do you expect? its used and has 65,000 miles this is what happens. He implied that I should've expected this as the car was used. I was incredulous. I've owned multiple used vehicles and have never expected any of them to overheat. Now at this point, I had only owned the car for 26 days, hadn't made the first payment even. I asked Mr. Noah if he could have it towed in, he again bluntly informed me "NO", and stated it was my responsibility. When I purchased he vehicle it came with a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty, Mr. Noah G. told me he wasn't sure I was covered. I asked if he could provide a loaner car while they checked my car out, I was informed brusquely that they did not provide loaner cars, although as I read the comments here, it is apparent that they do. Since then, things have only gotten worse. Jose, service manager at Herb Gordon Volvo, after repeated calls by myself, finally informed me the car was being sent to Sports Chevrolet for repairs. I begged him for the contact information and he informed me they would be in contact with me shortly. This was Tuesday, April 25th. As of today, April 27th, I have yet to hear anything from my supposed service rep Wayne Wagner at Sports Chevrolet and my calls to the service center are going directly to voicemail. I would inform any and all potential used cars buyers to be very wary of purchasing a vehicle from Herb Gordon Volvo of Silver Springs. My interaction to date has been nightmarish and not at all what I would expect from a reputable dealer.

Internet buyer beware. These folks aren’t friendly to buying over the internet/email and will not hold used cars. I am a few hours away from the dealership and was negotiating a deal on a used Mazda by email and was not made aware of their policy until we had negotiated a price and a purchase order was sent. During the process of finalizing my financing a short few hours later they sold the vehicle to someone else. Beware!

I inquired about a new or used Volvo XC60 T6 online. Iris Harley, sales associate at Herb Gordon Volvo, responded immediately. I was able to schedule an appointment with Iris that day. Iris was very helpful in locating the vehicles equipped as my husband and I desired. We were honest telling her we were considering other crossovers similar to the XC60. We test drove several Volvos over the course of a couple of weeks. Iris was always ready to answer our questions about the technical options on the car. Took my Volvo in for a state inspection (surprisingly difficult to find a dealership that will do a state inspection on a Saturday), the waiting area was comfortable, the new vehicles in the showroom were open to examine (if shopping for a new vehicle), there were ample refreshments, and most importantly, my car was ready sooner than promised. I have purchased my last 3 cars from Herb Gordon, with the customer service experience being stellar (Iris is a fantastic saleswoman). The service department however, is junior varsity to say the least. I walked in this morning, and interrupted both ladies at the desk in mid-text, evidently, because they couldn't bother to say "hello", when they finally managed to pull their heads out of their phones. I told them I had an appointment, and the more interested/lucid/less catatonic of the two motioned over in a general direction, to my right, and said "that guy over there". Ok. I walk over to the guy; he's on the phone with a customer, which I completely understand. However, he didn't even bother to look up, and the guy setting across from him couldn't be bothered either. I'd like to state that they weren't busy; I was the only customer in the entire place. The only person who made any attempt to say "hello" or help in any way was Iris, the fantastic saleswoman. I walked back over to the guy who was now off the phone, and stood about 2 feet from him. He didn't look up. Ok, now I'm done. I have had nothing but exceptional customer service at Annapolis Volvo Service Department, and despite the horrible drive, that's where I will be taking my car for service. Actually, I'm going to conduct all my future car buying there as well. I'll never step foot in Herb Gordon again.

This is my experience- after months of searching for a particular car I wanted, dealership after dealership, even one particular dealership where I was spoken to condescendingly and laughed at (Jones Junction Used Bel Air Road, Bel Air), I finally found the exact vehicle I was looking for, and drove an hour and a half to this dealership. Russel Bruce was our salesman -I would recommend him to anyone trying to purchase a vehicle, he's been selling cars since the late 90's and it is very evident he knows what he's doing. Not only was Russell patient (he stayed after a few hours even after the dealership closed just to ensure everything was copacetic) but he also worked out a great deal on the vehicle that matched my interests. The sales manager Mario (I'm not sure of his last name), was also just as hospitable and accommodating. Even after I had purchased my vehicle, they contacted me a few days later and to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. Thanks to these two gentleman, I am 110% satisfied with not only my dream car, but the overall experience with the process in buying my car (which we can all agree to be stressful).

I had a terrific experience purchasing my first Volvo here. I had just surrendered my diesel VW and received a settlement and had been actively looking for cars in several dealerships: Mercedes, VW, etc. I can say with out a doubt that the service I received with Peter and Mario at Herb Gordon was rivaled by no other dealership. Peter was extraordinarily knowledgable about the S60 I purchased and by simply sharing facts without telling me why his competitors were the wrong choice, I was able to make the right choice in getting my new car!

I wish I had the service of those other reviews! I called before hand to make an appointment, told them I was buying. Easiest sale ever. My salesman forget to send me his info. Midway through our negotiations he left us to work with an other couple. We had to start from scratch with a new sales man. After we agreed on price it took FOUR hours to finish the paperwork. Think that through. FOUR hours. Management was sympathetic, we got a stuffed animal and a key chain. Lol. They need to rethink their system. Training new staff FTW.
