I recently purchased a 2012 VW Gli Autobahn from Colin at Portland Volvo and the entire experience was heads and shoulders above every other car dealership I visited while searching for a car. I had spoken to Colin about what I was looking for in a car and less than a week later he called me and told me that he had a car on the lot that hadn't even been listed yet and that I should come take a look. It ended up being exactly what I was looking for an Colin managed to get me the best price around (solidly in the middle of the Kelley Blue Book value, and about $2000 dollars less than the local VW dealerships wanted for an identical car with more miles) You don't get this level of excellence anywhere else in southern Maine. Portland Volvo is true class.

After picking up my car at Portland Volvo and returning all the way home, I realized that I had left a suit in the back of the loaner car they had provided me with. It was a suit that was intended on dropping off at the dry cleaner but had simply forgot. I called Joel just to let him know what I left behind, asked if he could put it aside for me and that I'd be back the next day to grab it. Upon arrival that next day I found my suit hanging up and already dry cleaned...seriously?! Who goes out of their way for a customer like that?! I was blown away and very appreciative. Came in on a whim, completely wasting time. I saw a vehicle online previously and thought it would be fun to just take a quick test drive. Met the staff and instantly felt comfortable. After taking the test drive and actually liking the vehicle I told Matt my number they had to meet in order for me to drive away. I had the unfortunate opportunity to be towed in to Portland Volvo on a Sunday after my XC90 broke down on the ME Tpke. The next morning, Bryan (service advisor) called me first thing in the morning and his shop got to work on the vehicle right away. A second call from him warned me of additional potential damage that the vehicle may have sustained under the hood. After researching the issue on several Volvo online forums, I was potentially looking at a costly and difficult repair (that is not easily handled by most technicians). Bryan kept me apprised throughout the day of their progress, and thankfully his longtime tech (Steve) was able to work with my original, expensive part. This saved me time, a ton of money, and stress. I continued my road trip at the end of the day and the car ran very smoothly. The Portland Volvo service department was honest, fair, upfront, and highly skilled with this type of major repair. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to shop. A+

I went to Portland Volvo Cars to have ERS via key fob installed on my 2017 XC60. I was greeted promptly and courteously at the service desk, the car was in the shop minutes after I completed the paperwork at the desk and was completed quickly, in under 30 minutes. The customer waiting area was spotless, coffee, tea, water, soda snacks were available, along with WiFi. This is why I traveled 80 miles to buy this car and to have it serviced here.

Our family was driving from Connecticut to Maine when my husband noticed the car was making a funny sound. At the halfway point, we called Portland Volvo to ask if maybe they could take a look. This was Friday at around 3 pm. Lisa answered the phone and was extremely professional and sweet, but informed us there were no open spots that day. She suggested we leave the car overnight and maybe someone would get to it on Saturday. She even suggested a rental car dealership nearby. We followed her advice and were pleasantly surprise when she called early on Saturday to tell us that they squeezed our car in, and discovered the problem. Lisa had all our paperwork taken care of when we arrived (just as they were closing), there was no push for service, and we drove away relieved and grateful. Portland Volvo saved our short weekend vacation and treated us Flatlanders just as kindly and respectfully as I'm sure they do their regular customers. Highly recommend.

Took my xc90 in to diagnose a sound coming from right front axle and my transmission is flaring badly and slamming into gear. I did my research and It is a common issue with theses transmissions which almost always leads to a replacement. They found no issue with the front right "sound" and told me tranny was fixed with a software update. What luck i thought! There is nothing wrong with my car! Until i got 2 miles down the road. Transmission started banging and slipping and the noise was back in the right front. So I called them and told them what happened and they sad to bring it back in for another "diagnosis". I asked if it was for free because their first attempt was a total misdiagosis. The guy pretty much laughed in my face. I said no thanks. I wasn't going to let them nickel and dime me until they come to the obvious conclusion of tranny replacement. He explained that they start with the cheapest repair first and go from there. He actually used an Iphone software update as an example. I should have asked if he would have tried fixing a broken iphone screen with a software update.( at least iPhone updates are free) hind sight is 20/20. So I just flushed a bunch of money down the toilet for a useless software update. Thanks a lot Volvo. I guess most of the clientele that go here have money to blow. I do not.

Both in the Honda Pilot and in a Toyota Highlander. He did a side by side comparison as we were very undecided as to which vehicle to choose. There was no pressure---we didn't feel rushed. Had what I thought was a major problem with my 2008 C70 convertible. Called Joel Hall and the next available service opening was three days later. After telling him that I thought I shouldn’t drive it because the clunking noise was so bad, he said “bring it in right away!” Three hours later the problem was fixed. Now that’s exceptional Service! Major five stars for these guys! I've owned Volvos on and off since 1977 and never found a better dealer. Bought a certified S60 from them in a rush last November since my new/used car was broadsided at a light and I needed replacement wheels fast - even though I live in another state. They had the best car at the best price and I couldn't wait and shop around. Due to an undetected fender-bender by prev. owner, however, the car developed a spot of rust near the bumper after a couple months. They recently fixed this metal-to-metal at their own cost and threw in another cosmetic repair with no questions, no paperwork, no hassle at all. They were SO good that even though I live four hours away I would get my next car from them too. No other dealer has come close. They made what might have been a real problem a real pleasure instead. Five stars.

OMG,OMG Run, brought my saab in for inspection.we knew it possibly needed front brakes. met with weekend manager to go over lengthy sheet of needs to discuss price of 2000.00 of repair list. He was so rude and wasnt willing to listen or discuss issues. he raised his voice about the law on inspection,and i said we just want to talk price not law. They had done the maintenence on this vehicle. Very rude ,abusive tone. We went to other saab mechanic and they had done front brakes and other small repair for a quarter of the price and our car is safe and inspected. Never will i let anyone i know go to Portland Volvo not even for an oil change,they cannot even do the math correctly on the oil change sticker. Run Run Run

On Friday at 5:30 I realized my Volvo XC70 was two months out of inspection - my go to dealership was booked solid, so I frantically began calling dealerships in the greater Portland area close to my home in Falmouth. After a handful of calls to several other local dealerships I began to get discouraged. I called Portland Volvo expecting little, but I got a lot. The receptionist greeted me with what sounded like a big smile, and the service manager, Joel Hall, was extraordinary! He was helpful, kind, considerate, funny and straight to the point. The Service Team didn't try to sell me on things, or tell me I needed XYZ to pass inspection. When I went to pick up my car Joel gave me his card and told me if I had any questions or concerns about the way my Volvo was driving or acting to give him a call at any time. Joel Hall went out of his way to gain my trust, which he succeeded at, and has now earned my business.

The V60 wagon is soundly built, with very good interior space, a flat cargo area and astounding safety features. My sales rep, Michael Pierter, was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He even paired my phone and car’s Bluetooth system with the remote app. I am impressed by the service after the sale, with some maintenance work covered by warrantee, even for a pre-owned car.
