Extremely poor customer service. I called today because I've been having issues with my car since I brought it in. It won't start. So kinda important. Service isn't open on Sunday. Okay fine. It doesn't say that anywhere on the website. (Edit: I found it, its just not in the contact us section. Still upset at treatment.) I started saying this, just a calm "It doesn't say this on the website-" and got hung up on. So, there's a chance they broke my car (Who knows, not jumping to conclusions) and their service is poor. Not to mention like other reviews have said even if you call service on a day that they are actually open you have little to no luck reaching them. Great combination here.

I was blown away with my experience at Mini of Honolulu. Starting with my sales representative Ryan Takushi who greeted me at the door, was extremely welcoming, and knew every single detail about the Countryman Cooper S including highlighting the details from the changes between the years 2016-2017. (And was very patient with be as this was my first time on the Mini lot) Matt Martins the floor manager also took his time to greet us. Following the decision of purchasing the car and moving into finance a man by the name of Eric patiently walked us through the costs, pros, and cons of each package. Every step of the way I felt very taken car of, I never felt rushed or hustled in any of the areas and it made the process a breeze. I'm looking forward to a long and trouble free motoring with Mini.

Waste too much time here. I was interested a mini at their store before, then they asked me to stop by talk the price and they can reduce some. After a longer conversation, they can't reduced *any piece of the price even $10 and keep telling me how much expense they put on this used car then the manager just left me awkward sitting there. I left their store with a very disappointment mood and upset. Yes, you are maybe the only mini dealership in honolulu but we can choose other brands and other cars. They should adjust their attitude and business. A worst experience with all dealers I have seen in this world.

I've had a mini for a while. I've always liked good German engineering. Sometimes you can't avoid trouble though, so when the notorious roads of Hawaii hit, I'm glad that I have a reliable service department to turn to. I came in without an appointment for a leak in one of my tires from running over a nail. Story of my life....but instead of letting it become a bad day I was welcomed with empathy by a competent staff that fixed me up and sent me on my way, making sure I had everything I needed. Chris was awesome! Thanks so much for being on top of things and helping my bad experience with the road not ruin the rest of my day. Once a Mini girl, always a Mini girl.

Mini of Hawaii is an operation that runs like a well oiled machine. Every part of the experience on my lease has been seamless & clear as gin. Their personell are all courteous & well versed on what the entire operation is doing. My last lease was from Volvo Honolulu & there’s no comparison there. The different departments couldn’t coordinate w/ each other; I had to be the messenger most times. They couldn’t even tell me what kind of inventory they could expect. With Mini, I put my deposit down; CUSTOM built my LEASE car to MY specs; & voilé-it turned out exactly as I had instructed. Everything was spelled out perfectly for me - I left knowing what was expected of me & exactly what I could expect; & how everything from payments to maintenance checks would proceed thru the life of my lease. There’s even an option to add miles on the Owner’s Lounge website, in case you’ve projected your mile usage too low. I can’t express how impressed I am w/ their operation. A friend if mine just started her lease a few weeks ago & had the same experience...ANY business would do well to use them as the glod standard model. Mahalo Mini of Hawaii!

Very bad experience! Over the last few weeks visited several car dealerships on Oahu looking for a used car. I was very upfront about my budget and aware of our average trade with our car as we had other trade in offers at 2 dealerships that were similar in their offers. After taking test rides, going through the car Fax report our budget was very close to the asking price. Then the waiting started, mind you in the 2 hours we saw 1 customer. We had a event we needed to get to which we told our sales guy right from the begining. After, waiting and waiting, I finally went and found the sales person and manager who were looking at things on the internet not car related. I told them I had to leave and the sales person immediately jumped up grabed the paper with the offer and proceeded to tell me as we were walking to his desk, that he had to go as requested by his manager to go fill up gas in another car. Extremely strange and a big lie as I saw him in the other office from a distance they entire time. Then he proceeds to tell me everything that’s wrong with my car which was expected to set up a ridiculous offer. Agian, we had already been offered several thousand dollars on a trade-in at 2 other dealerships and Mini had the audacity to offer us $500 on our car. They didn’t budge on the asking price on the car whatsoever. After reading a few other bad reviews it appears they use the same tactics with other customers which is not willing to work with customers on a fair price and the waiting game try to break you down. Needless to say, we got another car at a great value and trade-in on the Windward side. It appears to me because they’re the only mini ...they are a monopoly and they have that mentality. Would not go to this dealership!

In past year we have spent about 5k fixing my mini. It doesn't even have 55k miles on it yet. I have been told things that need to be done to find out, after paying, that wasn't the problem. The labor here is outrageous and the fact that I make an appointment and yet mini keeps my car almost an entire day just to diagnose it is unacceptable. Never had anybody unfriendly which is good but I don't trust the service at this time. I feel I am being taken advantage of

Used car had issues within one month of purchase. The saleswoman told me “we do everything we can to make sure our used cars are 100% ready for purchase.” Obviously false. When I had the car in the shop for repairs the manager of mini told the company to “make it right.” When it came time to make it right they saw the $1400 bill and decided to make excuses for why they couldn’t afford to. Avoid this business. Don’t fall for their fake 5 star reviews.

I needed a car fast. I looked all over the island to find a decent used car at a fair price. Had very little luck until I found mini of Hawaii. From the moment I walked up to the dealership I knew it was going to be great experience. The facility looked clean and we'll taken care of. The cars all looked to be in good condition. The staff was very friendly from the start. If you are in the market for a new or used mini this is the place to go they don't play games they will get out the door in a car for a fair price.

Well they accomplished what I was there for but first they couldn't find my paper work, than they misplaced my keys, than it still took over an hour and a half, to complete a vehicle registration that they were holding the paper work for and already had a failed safety inspection certificate. Failed because they were waiting on the registration to arrive, so they had already gone through all the steps. Pretty disappointing.

I've been to this dealership a few times for routine service on my 2015 mini cooper and have never had any issues with getting an appointment or service done here. They are very quick to get everything done (you can easily walk to the beach or nearby cafes.) Or, they even offer a shuttle service to pick you up/drop you off. They also usually offer lots of discounts. This time around I had Kawika as my service representative; it took only 2 hours to get several things done on my car and I saved $200+ due to discounts. I will continue to come back here for my Mini service. They're great little cars

The worst shopping experience ever, they admit to be new and still in process of learning etc. I have end up calling California dealer and shipping parts here due to lack of knowledge. Really super poor experience very disrespectful sales personel. I had chance to talk to two of sales persons and this may not apply to all of them. I own a Mini because I love the cars (not so much the newer and bulkier models) but also because of the excellent service I get from the Mini of Hawaii dealership. Other dealerships should pay attention to how they do it at Mini. My latest experience with my service advisor, Kawika, was, as usual, excellent. The complimentary pit stop service keeps my roadster running smoothly. And finally, the location is conveniently located in Kakaako close to my work place .

Scheduling my service visit was super easy online. Bill the Service Advisor was great but seemed overwhelmed as his office seemed undermanned to handle all the customers. There were two other people in the office but I never saw them do anything. Bill handled all the customers by himself which made for a slow drop-off and later a slow pick up. Besides this problem everything was handled perfectly with my car’s service and the even the free wash was excellent.

Either the people don’t know their job here, or they are takin advantage of people when it comes to car service. Had my car serviced because my wipers started working intermittent and then wouldn’t work then would work. Most good mechanics would start from the least expensive route then use a process of elimination. These guys obviously did no troubleshooting, and went directly to the most expensive route, which was to replace the motor. They quoted $2100 to Replace the motor with no guarantees! Being an older mini the car is barely worth that. With that being said they instantly offered me a chance to talk to a sales rep to push a newer car on me. Needless to say I said no and wanted the car back. The reason they said it was a faulty motor according to them was because error codes came up that it was faulty. LOL what a joke. I called them out on their troubleshooting and just took my car back and paid for the $100 oil change and $100 for the diagnostic for a total of a little over $200. When I brought the car home I knew it wasn’t a bad motor because it would sometimes work. I finally figured it out and it cost me $10 to fix. Meanwhile they just assumed it was a faulty motor conveniently which would provided the highest profit margin for them instead of doing their job. If you were wondering what the fix was? It was a faulty ground cable so if your wipers decide to fail first check the cheaper solutions such as fuses, relays, ground before you get stuck with a $2100 quote and lose out on $100 for poor service. This place is a sham and I wouldn’t recommend going. It makes me wonder if they even changed the oil.

My husband and I had been in the market for a new car. He is currently deployed so we decided we would wait until he returned home in a few weeks to start actively looking. However, we came across a car at MINI of Hawaii that we loved and fit our budget. Although I was hesitant, I decided to go in and look at the vehicle on my own. From my first encounter with Carmen (Salesperson) over the phone I felt at ease. I visited the dealership the following day and meant with Carmen. She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The entire transaction went better than I expected. I was trading in a vehicle and when working with the Manager (Anthony), he offered a fair trade in value for our current vehicle without the haggling you usually encounter when you walk into a dealership .. this was definitely a breath of fresh air. Nick (Finance Manager) was also extremely helpful, very thorough, and friendly. He made the process as easy and seamless as it could be! If your in the market for a new vehicle I would highly recommend visiting MINI of Hawaii you will not be disappointed, they truly pride themselves in providing excellent customer service and put the needs of their customers first! Had a 9am appointment (My email said appointment on it at least 3 times, which I appointed out to the service attendant), was told that it was only a check in time and I would have to wait until they looked at other cars first. Wanted to wait in the lobby, but when I told this to the service center employee he kept insisting that I take the shuttle while they looked at it, I walked to a Starbucks. Excuse he made me feel so uncomfortable. Agreed to pay $75 for the estimate (seemed high, but local machanic couldn’t figure it out) my final bill was over $95. Estimate took at least 3.5 hrs. Was told that their printer was broke so they couldn’t give me a printed estimate (could give me a printed bill though). Asked to have estimate emailed to me. Was told that they could do this as the printer was broken and it could be done soon. Had to call twice after 3hrs to get them to email it to me. Love my mini but my experience with this dealership has made it so I will not purchase one again and makes me consider selling the one I have just so I don’t have to deal with them again.

I always believed bad things happen to other people but I was wrong, because it happened to me when I took my Mini to a Mini repair shop and after a small repair became a big repair that my car broke down with a big oil leak that slipped off my alternator belt. Oil was all over and it was such a mess and a big job that two repair shops turned me down. Then I called Mini of Hawaii, who told me they would be glad to take a look at it and gave me a estimate after figuring out what my warranty would cover. Thank you Mini of Hawaii, you went above and beyond. My Mini is running so good, I’ve been taking it all over the place with no problem. I purchased a car from Mini of Hawaii in early October, the first day we had it the breaks failed while we drove the car and there were electrical issues. They kept the car for about a month attempting to fix the problems with the car. While the break problems were finally resolved the feedback through the speakers was not. Its been 93 days since I purchased the car and Mini of Hawaii still has not registered my car with the state. Don't expect to have calls returned promptly by the staff, if ever.

I bought a used mini back in July of 2017. At four months in, I had to replace the brakes. I got a analysis from another repair shop that the brakes were dangerously worn and that I shouldn’t be driving it. I mentioned to their service department, and they told me that the brakes passed the bare minimum. Such bad business. I have been also having issues with the radiator. Apparently it’s been leaking for a long time. I understand that it is sold “as is” but the repairs and the total disregard for safety is extremely high at this dealership. Also during the buying process, salesman, tried to sneak a contract to me, while my other party was inside, trying to make me sign an amount that was not what we agreed upon. Very dishonest. We did walk away with the car, but now I feel very discouraged in owning it. No, I don’t not recommend for anyone to go to this dealership. Reading all the bad reviews, I feel that many had the same bad experience as I did. I will be reporting to the better business bureau, submitting the research that I’ve done. Good luck, please check, double check and triple check.

We just want to share the great experience that we had purchasing our second Mini Convertible from Mini Hawai’i recently. Our first Mini Convertible was a great car but after 13 years we needed a new one. We were greeted by Anthony Deorio. He showed us the new Convertibles that were available and very helpful! We decided that we like a convertible that just came off the boat and had not even been cleaned up. We came back the next day with our old Mini to trade in and took the new one home!!! Had an unexpected flat tire. Luckily it happened near their Ala Moana location. I got help in the way of options even though it was at the end of their day.. The care and concern was genuine. The tire was replaced and I got the vehicle back the next day. Super kind, super thoughtful and thorough people. I’m pleased and will be a loyal customer. The mechanic shared concern about the ignition. They let me know about it. I agreed to have a diagnostic done which validated a weak battery. Had been noticing a different “feeling” recently whenever I would drive it. “That” reason made good sense. Replaced the battery and now the engine sounds and feels “strong” again. Kawika was great! I went in to the service department for a flat tire. He explained all our options and recommended what was best for our Mini Cooper. While replacing our tire they notice the battery was weak and ended up replacing it under warranty. It’s nice to know that you can trust them with you car. We will definitely bring our mini back to kawika for service in the future.

The finance folks at Mini also worked with me. When I said I was not comfortable with the monthly payment presented they gave me a higher resale value on my truck. I was hoping this review would end with three stars as a matter of incompatence, but Kawaika and the service team at Mini Cooper of Honolulu confirmed their dishonesty. On 7-20-2018 7am we brought my wife's car in for service because it has a rough idle when coming to a stop, and the check engine light would come on intermittently. We also opt for fuel injection service as it was promoted by the team. I received a call at 4pm with the news that the light indicated the need to replace the engine coils, spark plugs, and gasket. They could have it ready for pick up at 5:30. We were charged 3.5 hours of labor (book rate) for 1.5 hours of service. Ok, not the end of the world. We just wanted the car to work well. We left with the assumption that it would, after all they list a quality assurance check on the invoice. Driving the vehicle just a few days later we experienced the same problems as before. This is when we began to worry. Back to Mini. 7-27-2018 7am We were told they would diagnose the problem at no cost. We left the car, and waited for the news. In the early afternoon I received a callfrom Kawaka. They found "two new codes," indicating two sensors needing replacement, a DMTL Module and Mass Airflow Sensor. Why wasn't a thorough diagnosis done initially? We're the repairs they decided were there problem the first time even necessary? I've since brought my car to an honest service center, and confirmed again our suspicions that we were taken for a ride at Mini Cooper of Honolulu. I hope our experience saves someone else the trouble of visiting this establishment.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! This place is horrible. Short version: management - Joseph Langsdale - will not take or return your calls when there are serious issues. They don’t do what they promise. Didn’t provide temporary registration paperwork so I find out I’m illegally driving the vehicle I got from them. It’s one thing after another, and I promise you, the detailed version is much worse! NEVER, EVER, will I have anything to do with MINI of Hawaii and I will make sure through the power of word of mouth, everyone I know here’s about the experience.

Customer service is good. However, buying the used car took roughly 4 hours. The credit check took roughly 3 hours for some reason. The insurance portion was good, but we couldn't drive the car off the lot without tags (even though we got the insurance taken care of) and the used car department does not issue temporary tags.

Was not very happy with service department. Turned in vehicle for standard service and potential tire air leak. Got called very fast saying done and no tire issues. It wasn’t until I pushed them to actually dismount and check the tire were they very quick to call back and ask for $500 for a new tire. Was really disappointed with service. My car is a not a Ferrari, but it’s horrible when the non-premium service departments gives you better service than what is supposedly a premium car company related to BMW. I could have spent $20k less and received way better service. Shame on you Mini of Hawaii.

Purchased a vehicle from Mini of Hawaii which I found out while signing the paper that I couldn't take home due to a safety concern. Finally got the car 4 days later and it had new mechanical issues such as loud interference that went though the speakers all the time and the side mirror wouldn't move. I was told by the salesman that they would not fix the mirror because "well you can still manual push it into the position you need it". Drove the car for 4 days and the breaks went out. Called in and the service person didnt know what to do; told me a manager would call be back within 15 minutes. No one did. I called back 10 times during their working hours and no one answered, effectively stranding me on the side of the road. Finally got a call back from their manager 3 hours later, at which point I had already set up a tow with my own money. It is now 2 weeks later and I have not received my car. They have missed every service deadline they set. Only reason I gave them 2 stars is that they gave me a loaner a week after it went into the shop. At this point I dont know when Im going to get my car and Id rather they just take it back.

After our first experience purchasing a car from Mini, we decided to go back after it was stolen and purchase another. Unfortunately, since the car we purchased had previously been leased, we have had to continuously return to the store due to items that should have been completed earlier: replacing parts, replacing a tire that we requested be inspected when we test drove it (turned out there was a nail and the filling up didn’t solve the problem), the safety check expired two days later and we were told cannot be renewed until we get the non-temporary registration, and we cannot get regular plates until the previous owner returns to mini to sign paperwork to take his vanity plates. Needless to say, after returning to the store or service department four times with some items still not resolved, we are more reserved in our recommendation of minu than after our initial experience. I would note that the people who helped us process the paperwork and the financial services were stellar and worked to help us (and continue to help) get these issues resolved. It just feels like all of this should have been taken care of before the car even hit the show room floor.

Yesterday I went to Mini of Hawaii for a routine service of my 2013 2-door hardtop. Kawika, the service advisor, was brilliant as usual. I had time to kill so started browsing the used cars in the lot. I was soon met by Carmen Cheung, their used-car specialist. I explained that I was just looking, and would only really be interested in "upgrading" to a newer model if their was an extraordinary deal. As it happens, there was. And an hour or so later, I drove out with a special-edition 2015 2-door hardtop. Low mileage, certified pre-owned, superb condition. After some too-ing and fro-ing with Carmen and her manager Matt, I got a much better deal on my trade-in as well as brand new surf racks to be installed free-of-charge. I'm stoked. Carmen was as professional as she was charming, Matt was gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend the experience.

They don't honor their deals made online. I offered $21000 out the door for a Q-5 and give $5000 down for financing. She stated the manager approved the deal and i again verified the offer and she stated yes. When we went to pick up the vehicle they would not honor the deal. This must be the only dealer in the nation that doesn't know what out the door means. Buyer beware !!!!!

Also, this is my second Mini, after purchasing the first the dealer offered a discount on all accessories that I bought while in the dealership that day, I asked Kona, they looked at me like I was insane. Ended up spending $1000 somewhere else.

Service department is the worst service I’ve encountered! I walked in and felt like no one wanted to talked to me and that I didn’t exist. It took them roughly 5min until they say recognize my presence. Im pretty sure they all saw me standing right there! That’s just the beginning of the worst customer service ever! Left my car there so the mechanics can check what’s the problem, and Barry promised he will update me from time to time. I didn’t hear any word from Barry after 3 days, yes I called multiple times and left voicemails unfortunately no return calls or whatsoever, and I even asked for loaner car and they kept saying no loaner car available, little did I know, Barry is on vacation and will come back on July 5th. So when I was there I spoke to Sherrie and she tried to charge me for everything my car needed and what the mechanics said needs to be done. And I told her my warranty doesn’t cover any of those? And she paused and said “ yes it is” and I will approve them now. She just approved them because I went there and followed up? So meaning if I didn’t go there personally it’ll just be sitting there somewhere because it wasn’t approved? And remember now this is my 6th day w/o a car and yet no loaner car available for me? This is crazy! How can you even explain this situation?

A little late with the review but the results are the same either way, we walked in to Mini of Hawaii and were taken care of right from the start by the friendly and caring staff. Ryan ended up being our salesman and he was great, he is very knowledgeable about the product and isn't one of those pushy car guys. Ryan took the time to listen to what we were looking for to match us with the car that best suited us. When it came to numbers they was no fuss, Ryan listened and worked the numbers until we found the absolute perfect deal. His boss was great too and there just couldn't have been a better team working for us that day. Everyone is always very nice and accommodating with rides to and from etc. My only thing is every time I get service there I get called to add on another $200-$300 worth of service on top of the already very expensive oil change. It's just frustrating knowing every time I go there it's a minimum of $500. Makes me occasionally want to look at different makers.... And I miss my technician Kawika, he was amazing!

I have always gone to Mini of Honolulu for my Mini's service. They may not be the cheapest but I have always found that you get what you pay for and they are no exception. The service center is always helpful with customer pick up and drop off service and they won't try to sell you the most expensive service just because its the possible fix. Service representatives like Kanan Roberts are up front about the potential problems and cost. He is friendly and courteous in my visits.

Took my car in, on appointment, for a pit-stop. Was first told there was no one available to wash my car. Fortunately, I wanted my car serviced and wasn’t looking for a wash. There was NO in-house driver so Uber or Lyft was called!!! Made me very uncomfortable. Expressed my huge dissatisfaction. There was only one staff working in the service office/department. Is Mimi cutting back on their staff? Leaving Hawai’i? Every staff member I’ve known is no longer there.

Many Bluetooth issues and multiple trips to get it fixed. Final trip there the service guy says yeah, he has the same issues with his Android (were on iOS) and no, Mini is not likely to ever correct it. Ok.... During this time period I also needed my tires rotated out with a set I got from a different Mini dealership. They initially told my wife that no, they won’t honor the tires since they’re not their own and won’t put them on. I called and they said sure no problem. Ok.... Last straw came when I requested multiple times for a loaner car because we needed to keep doing other things during the day. Sure! We’ll get one for you! I call to confirm the availability of one the day before our service appointment and was told yes, we have them and yes you’re confirmed to have one waiting for you. Get there the next day- no loaner. No apologies- just we don’t have any. Did I mention that I had called and confirmed this multiple times? Oh and this was the second time they did this. I guess being the only dealership in town makes them feel entitled to doing what they want? Thanks, I won’t be coming back here. If I get another Mini, I’m likely to import from the mainland.

From a $450 quote, to a little shy of $1000 in the end. Couldn't just take it elsewhere, at the time, after final quote..I was stuck. Thermostate broken. Chris Jackson (manager) on the other hand, always a pleasure. Had to call him to get answers in the end. Will not go back ,if all possible. Or only deal with Mr. Jackson..
