If anyone is considering buying a car here, you might as well add $2000 to the sticker price. There is a $500 dollar admin fee and a $1500 inspection fee. Very pushy people. I was able to get the inspection fee waved but the car was still over priced. In the end I left with my check and drove away in the car I arrived in. Guess I’m the real Winner because I still have my check.

We were heading to vacation at the Beach in Delaware, and all of a sudden the check coolant light was blinking. Per Google, I found Winner VW was a dealership on the way and called to see if they could squeeze us in, to see what was the problem. Mind you that I do not live anywhere near them and this was the first time I had called. Once we got there, it turns out the water pump went up (very common for a GTI) and they were willing to fix it that day on the spot. They fixed it in a couple hours and we were back on our way. They also did the 15 point inspection and everything else came back fine. It was under powertrain warranty so there was no charge. And they washed it. Very thankful to their service dept - we missed a couple hours at the beach, but had a great weekend and made it there and home safe. thank you!

Stay away from their service department! I’ve been servicing my car there for two years. Recently I checked my car’s carfax and I called and complained to them about not reporting their work on my car to CarFax. They said it’s not their fault and that I have to contact Carfax. I contacted CarFax and I asked them to help me solve this problem and they said they need to receive the work from the dealership as pdf/email. I called and I asked for help, I’ve been passed to Brian or Ryan, the service manager and he always promised me he will help me and stuff, but it never got done. Disappointed in their customer service. Shame on them for the price their asking to service a car and for pretending to be a great franchise dealership. They don’t meet the expectations. I don’t recommend them to anyone if you want a nice service history record for your car when you will resell it, then consider going somewhere else.

I was in the market for a new 2017 VW Passat. I was dealing with the TDI scandal at the time with my 2010 TDI Jetta. It was tough getting me financed because of my credit and the Scandal with the bank. I went to winner Volkswagen and when I explained my situation they more or less blew me off. The finance manager would not even return my call. So I will not recommend them to anybody. I instead called around to other VW places and Garnett was the best of them all. The agent by the name of Ryan and the finance manager by the name of Margo were great. I turned in my TDI on the 13th of Sept 2017 and drove out with a brand new 2017 VW Passat fully loaded. Go to Garnett and ask for Ryan. They were courteous and very helpful and I recommend them highly. Thanks and God bless!!!

RECALL WARNING TO ALL: 3 trips and 3 stereos in my 2013 Passat SEL. Still powers off/on/off/on at will. Winner Auto in Dover will not even LOOK at it again, stated right on my last work order. Stay away from VW if you want real service. Very disappointed VW fan, this is my 3rd Passat. NO MORE FOR ME, plus there's a TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL for those of you that aren't aware. I'd give 0 stars if I could. First replacement stereo was a refurbished unit, second replacement was taken from a car on the lot, was guaranteed this will fix the problem, not even close.

Went there to test drive the new S90 and XC 90 I had emailed the sales service to let them know I was coming and they said okay. When I got there they judge me by my age(27)maybe even race. and they didn't let me test drive the S90 and didn't want to let me drive the Xc90 but to let them know my income before driving it. Worst place EVER for service. Took my 2002 Passat in for an oil leak and they broke my can chain tensioner during the repair---and wouldn't replace it. The part cost me another $700 and even the general service manager wouldn't take responsibility for it. I'll never parton this place again. No worries though, everyone on base knows about your behavior and we've boycotted your dealership.

I bought a 2015 Jeep Wrangler from this place & after going through all the pricing I realized they added a $1,295 inspection fee because I’m buying the car out of state?! A 2015 should pass inspection with flying colors. After questioning it, they reassured me it’s nornal despite my suspicions. When I started talking to people back home I come to find out this is nothing but normal. I called the dealership to find out what I can do to get my money back, when it passes inspection, otherwise what is the money I gave to them good for? I was told the boss would call me back and it has been 3 days. This place is a scam covered behind friendly faces!

I have a very sporadic schedule and making an appointment ahead of time can be difficult. I had an email for a discount on services, made an online appointment 2 hours prior. When I arrived my vehicle was taken right away and completed efficiently. The discount did not apply automatically but the service person cheerfully applied it!

When I went to go buy a car two years ago I gave the salesman my specs. 4 door sedan, preferably a Jetta but was open to similar models in my price range. I was looking within a few years of models to keep everything realistic. Immediately the salesman shot me down and continued to suggest to me an older model VW bug. I mean like really push it. Clearly not what I was looking for. (Needless to say I bought my car from Smith VW in Wilmington, brand new and in my price range). Fast forward a year, I was looking to get my vehicle serviced a few days before an unplanned car trip. Though I knew the possibility of getting it done was hopeful at best, the woman on the other end was short and rude with me. A simple "I'm sorry but we are booked" would have sufficed. Fast forward to this year in the pouring rain, I go in to buy new windshield wipers. I was barely spoken to outside of the transaction made, and not a single person offered to help me put them on or at the very least a dry spot to do so. Maybe it's because I work in customer service that I feel so strongly turned off by this place, but it's extremely evident that this place is strictly based on business and numbers and not customer service. Cars and their upkeep are not cheap, so with that being said I will take my 30k investment elsewhere if I have to replace so much as a fuse, and I will suggest that other people do the same.

My husband and I came in tonight just to price out a new car. We talked to Tom and the new GM, Rick. Both employees were beyond amazing. As a person who works in retail and sales, I can tell the difference between someone who is just trying to sell to you, and someone who is really trying to get to know you and what you want. Which is so refreshing to experience for someone who is on a car hunt! This car dealership truly appreciates anyone in the military, and they aren't afraid to show it. Not only was the customer service phenomenal, but the prices and deals on the cars were great too. The overall atmosphere was so laid back. We were TDI owners winner vw was the 1st available appt for us within 2 hours..we waited 8 mos just to turn the car in, .mostly due to the ineptitude of the independent group that was used to insure a " fair" process..so in between countress phone calls w millenials in their grandmoms basement upset w us for interrupting their gaming experience for our TDI question..We became dead set not to buy another VW product..On drop off day I asked a sales rep..Nick to bring out a taureg...we'll my my wife fell in love w the car but it was above our budget..next Nick showed us a tiguan. .we loved it and the price for an all wheel drive..we settled on a sport w great amenities below in And saved almost 7k on other based priced similar vehicles..For what we gave up in amenities we gained in mpg and sporty handling w ride comfort. I purchased a used car from Winner. They used all the standard, dishonest sales tactics when I was considering the car. When I decided to buy it, they tried to add more than two thousand dollars onto the sticker price, far beyond the usual taxes and dealer fees. They told me, both verbally and in writing, that the car had brand new brakes and tires. I had to replace the front brakes within a month of purchasing the car, and learned a few months later that the tires were more than five years old and severely dry rotted. I would NOT recommend purchasing a vehicle from Winner. Edit: Winner has (after a protracted conversation with the general manager) agreed to refund me the cost of the tires. I'm still unhappy with the overall purchasing experience, but I appreciate their willingness to hear concerns of former customers.

They had me bring it right in and had it repaired within three hours. They gave me a rental to use while my car was in the shop. Worst experiences with automotive dealer and service in my life. Yes experiences... We have been to this dealership from over an hour away more than 13 times for a new key fob and to purchase a new vehicle. Actions that would have warranted four visits max. We have spent countless dollars in gas and hotels to continuously try to correct problems this dealership has presented. The key fob we were told would be in stock and our name and number was taken. When we arrived none of our information was on file and the key had to be ordered. Upon our second return for the key the computers crashed preventing the key fob programing... this happened twice. Finally we had one full working key and we were told they would give us a valet key as a spare on the house and discount our original key fob for the inconvenience... neither of these things ever happened. While waiting one of the countless days and hours we spent there we found a vehicle we wanted to purchase. The vehicle made noises and we were told after purchase to bring it back to have it fixed, after returning and arguing with the service manager to put it on the lift it needed a part for the axel. The part had to be ordered and we picked up the vehicle five days after dropping it off, even though we were told it would only take two. After being told we did not need a special state inspection because we were buying out of state, we call about our tags and find out we do indeed need and inspection by the state the vehicle was being registered in. We paid out of pocked for the inspection and returned yet again to the dealership to drop off the paperwork. We were told it would be mailed to the state three days later. When we called the dealership wondering where our tags were they in formed us that they were just mailed out... three and a half WEEKS later. We were told that they would ensure we gout our tags before the temp tags expired two weeks from that date. Here we are the day the tags expire and I have called everyday this week not wanting to get stuck over a weekend with expired tags and they in form me that the new temp tag was mailed to the wrong address... the best they can do is get them there on Monday and that we should just drive around with an expired temp tag over the weekend. The general manager BILL MAC is absolutely useless and has never been informed of our issues despite the massive quantity of phone calls made about our issues. This is the worst auto dealership on the planet! Save your self all of the headaches, phone calls, and inconvenience and buy your vehicle elsewhere!

Service department is replacing the passenger air bag under the recall. My 2012 outback was 600 miles over the 80,000 mile warranty for goverment EPA mandated coverage. My husband and I decided to stop by Winner Volkswagen this week, to get information about a low mileage used car we had seen for a very good price on the internet. We were not initially committed to buying a car, and had intended to simply see what might be available. Our salesman, Mike Smith, was extrememly helpful, friendly, and personable. We had indicated while discussing our needs, that we would consider a new car, if it was priced within our budget. Mike was able to quickly find a car that matched the price range and specifications we had indicated. It was a real pleasure to work with Mike, and he is a real asset to Winner Volkswagen. Mike genuinely wanted to ensure that we were getting the car we wanted, that the sales experience was comfortable, and that we fully understood how all the options on the car worked. I tend to ask a lot of questions when making a purchase, and Mike made sure that I was given all the answers, to my satisfaction. The salespeople at Winner Volkswagen appear to work as a team, as evidenced by several salesman taking the time to quickly move cars and items, so that we could test drive a car that had been parked on the showroom floor. Ted Dewald, the General Sales Manager, was patient and took the time to make sure I was comfortable with the sales figures and calculations that would be used to determine financing and final purchase price. He answered my questions, and was willing to run multiple scenarios to ensure we were getting the best deal. Joshua Morris, the Finance Manager, was very helpful and carefully explained all the additional products and services available for our car. He took his time, and we did not feel pressured to purchase anything we did not want. My husband and I are pleased with our purchase of a 2014 VW Jetta. When it comes time to buy our next car, we intend to return to Winner Volkswagen, and we will be asking for our wonderful salesman, Mike Smith.

Went in to address the indicator lights on my dash (check engine, glow plugs, and DPF) were all on. Was informed I need 5,000 dollars worth of service and car was unsafe. Asked VW to fix a recall with the computer system, which was FREE. Guess what, no more lights. The car runs fine. Just wish VW had looked into the recall before telling someone they have to pay 5,000 dollars worth or repair. Unnecessary stress right? Aside from this, the staff was friendly and was able to get my car right in. I'd return, but will make sure to do my research first :-)

Rude, the service department and receptionist that answered the phone both terrible. My daughter broke down in her 05 passat, in Ocean City MD, closest VW dealer was Dover. We asked if we had it towed could they simply fix a vacuum hose that popped off, They said not until Wednesday. Really??? No time for a urgent fix so we had to have our vehicle towed 150 miles. Today was checkout from our vacation. Thanks Winner, you are nothing like your partners in Wilmington. Done, never will be a customer ever!!!! Most dealerships would help a stranded consumer.. Totally rude and they would never work for me with that attitude, be careful where you choose to do business.

I have owned three VWs. Two of which I had serviced at Dover VW. The first was a 99 Golf which was in for a recall on the plastic window clips for the front windows in 2005. While in service, Dover VW informed me that my driver's side door lock didn't work. I know for a fact it did as this car didn't have remote entry and I locked the door when I dropped it off for service. They said it was coincidental that it broke in their possession but they would be willing to install a new lock for free if I paid for the lock. Then I had to wait 10 days because they didn't stock the lock at the VW dealership. My second incident with them was regarding my 99 Passat sunroof randomly opening and closing. They wanted to replace the entire sunroof assembly for $1600+. I used an eraser and cleaned the contacts for the sunroof switch and never had the problem again. My third and final attempt at service was with the Passat again when 3/4 of my power locks stopped working. They had the car for 30 days and $700 prorated service to tell me they couldn't figure it out. If you have a VW or Audi and you want fast, reliable, and accurate service, go to Smith VW on Kirkwood Highway.

We brought our 2018 VW Tiguan in for an oil service. They without asking performed two lengthy recalls on top of the oil service. They failed to put the proper amount of oil back in the engine and now the engine is suffering from mechanical issues. We called and had it towed back and they cleared the engine light without giving us the code like we asked, and they claimed it was only a quart low, but if it was only a quart low it wouldn't have caused an engine light to turn on....So currently we have a brand new car with engine damage that the dealership is trying to shrug off as not their problem. We've filed a complaint with VW directly and the BBB, I just hope we can get this fixed because it's just not fair to take advantage of people who were trying to give you business.

I took my vehicle in for maintenance and I had no intention of buying a vehicle. While there I saw a vehicle that caught my attention and I was sent to sales rep. Tom Enger. He is NO PRESSURE, informative, very helpful, and more like a brother than a salesman! I told Tom I have a bad knee and was not sure I had enough leg room. He did not pressure me to buy but instead told me to take the vehicle overnight to make sure it was OK for my knee first! I took it for a few hours and then returned it. When I said I would sleep on it an annoying floor manager Scott Roberson butted in rather than trusting Tom Enger to handle things and tried to put unnecessary pressure tactics on me to make a decision THAT NIGHT. I didn’t let him bully me though and ignored him, diverting back to Tom. Because of Scott I did not give 5 stars. If he had not butted in I would give Tom Enger 5 stars! The next day I went in and dealt with Tom Enger only. I told Tom I would buy it if I could have a few added features and he took great care of me through the whole process. He even took the time to have the vehicle detailed inside and out for me, showed me how to work all the features and gave me a loaner vehicle when the requested features were being added! Their finance guy Josh got me an incredible interest rate! The cashier lady is very nice and so is Tom Heck in labor. I would HIGHLY recommend Tom Enger who is “For Real” and an all-around genuine Great guy if you want to buy a vehicle! I trust Tom and would not hesitate to send my daughter to him when she is ready to buy a car! Thanks Tom for everything!!!!!

I have been in for service twice at Winner VW and my 3rd visit will be next week, I'm sorry to say that I have had a similar experience as Nicholas Sinclair when he complained about his oil light coming on shortly after his visit. On both of my visits where I had the oil & filter changed my check oil light came on less than 1,000 miles after the service visits. The first time I took it back in and they added a quart of oil. The second time I was a quart low and added it myself. They told me that it's not uncommon for this to happen which I do not believe. My car does NOT burn oil. In both instances when it was added it lasted until my next fully synthetic change change 10,000 miles later. I have NEVER had this experience with the dealer where I purchased my car in MD. If this should occur again after my 3rd visit next week I will have to look elsewhere for service.
