I adore my new Forester! Based on ratings, the look and multiple friends opinions, I was already sold on the car, now it was about the dealership. I first came to Matt Slap to just test drive the Forester and Jason Marker was informative and patient. He knew I was going to shop around and might be back...no pressure from him. Usually my husband does the dealing but for the first time I did it by myself. The next day I went back to see what their price would be. I met with Jason as a researched and well informed buyer and we sat down to talk. In no time we had a deal! I was getting the exact car I wanted and all in, it was within $200 of my target price. There were a couple of very minor adjustments (fee change and item not on car that was thought to be included) and the differences were all resolved in my favor-without having to ask! The car was on a truck and was to arrive at the dealership the next day, everything was delivered as represented. Throughout the experience I felt like I was taken seriously and respected, I was given a great deal and spent a total of less than 2 1/5 hours. Filled out an application online for financing and went in after I was approved. Was driving away in my new car an hour and a half later. Glenn and Chris were so friendly and informative, they made my first dealership experience great. They even made it super easy for me to back out of the extended warranty a few days after purchase. We were searching for a safe, reliable college car to get from coast to coast for a first time car owner. Glen & Ron were cheerful, polite, helpful and expedited the seamless process with a "can do" attitude. Do NOT get your car serviced here. Even if it’s for a “free” recall. They will try to swindle you out of your money. I took my car in for the break light switch recall. Upon “inspecting” my car, they called and told me that my rear breakpads were “completely gone, metal to metal”, and that my car was “extremely dangerous to drive”, but they could fix it for the low cost of $500. I declined so that I could take it to my usual mechanic for a second opinion. Upon taking it to my regular mechanic, he informed me that they had blown the issue, which was relatively minor, entirely out of proportion. While my breakpads were worn down, they weren’t dangerous, and it would be half the cost ($250) to fix it if necessary. And, when I got my car back, before I got it to my mechanic, two bolts came off of my tires that they’d handled. Matt Slap doesn’t care about you or your Subaru, just your money. Notice how they respond to their five star reviews and conveniently ignore their lower reviews? Go somewhere that actually cares about their customers.

I have had good experiences at this location and bad. My latest experience was better thanks to the Salesperson Mark. He was low pressure and very open and honest with me in negotiating. I can recommend doing business with Matt Slap with only limited reservations now. In fact, 3 of the 4 salespeople I have interacted with here were good. It seems the Sales Manager can sometimes be the one to play hardball. The good thing about this place is that their inventory seems to be on the larger side, so you are more likely to find something close to what you are looking for on site.

I recently purchased my 2013 Certified Cross trek from Matt Slap Subaru, and I was impressed how easily it was to get out of current lease with a different model vehicle. My husband, son and I went on a weekend and we were in and out of the dealership within 2 hours. Harry met us in the parking lot and greeted us and asked what we were interested in, we told him. He went to grab a tag for a test drive and to think I was leaving my husband and son stranded for a few minutes Harry said, to grab the car seat and put it in the Cross trek. The last time I purchased a car, this wasn't an option. Harry was professional and everything was a smooth process. Harry has called and followed up to see how I've been liking the car. I have to say, as my first Subaru, I would suggest checking them out! Thanks again!

I purchased a 2018 Crosstrek in December 2017 and have had a few minor issues until now. For the past two months, I have been experiencing paint chipping in several areas on the hood of the car. When I took the car in for the problem, the service person touched the car and the paint was literally rubbing off. After three weeks of waiting to see if Subaru would make the repairs, I was denied because they claimed that "it was caused by outside elements." I did some research and found that there are hundreds of complaints regarding defective paint jobs with the 2018 Subaru cars. It's unfortunate that I did not do my research prior to buying the car. I beg everyone that if you are interested in purchasing a Subaru, please please do your homework first. Certainly, this damage was not done from outside elements because there was nothing on the car, and I certainly would not allow bird droppings (as they suggested) sit on my car and cause damage to it. Not to mention that I have owned several cars and bird droppings never peeled the paint off the car. I pray that this is helpful and that you do not end up in my situation.

Really kind of a bummer at Matt Slap. I purchased a brand new car about 6 weeks ago (felt rushed through the sale since it was late on a nice Saturday afternoon, but it was ok). 2 weeks ago, I realized I needed a copy of one piece of my paperwork for a legal matter, but couldn't find exactly what I needed. Reached out to my salesman twice, no response at all. Finally called and was connected right away to the finance department. The guy who answered (I have his name but won't say it here) was SO annoyed with my request, and told me I should have it. I explained that I didn't, and he said he would "get around to sending it". I probably won't recommend Matt Slap--it seems like once you've made your purchase, they really aren't interested in helping you, and that's just kind of a bummer. When I'm ready for a new Subaru, I'll be heading over to Concordville. Edit: The guy in finance never sent me my paperwork......I guess he couldn't be bothered or forgot.

We went there to preview the Ascent and we test drove the Cross trek and Forester. We were looking for a car our son could drive to school in New York. We ended up buying the Forester. We got there around 1:30 in the afternoon and we left at 5:30 pm with our new car! Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Glen is a really nice salesman and patiently answered all of our questions.

Updating my review with some context instead of just stars--we've now purchased two cars from this dealer over the last 3 years, and have been very happy. I don't say it lightly either; we've dealt with pretty shady and scummy dealers in the past and these guys certainly don't fit that bill. I came in (both times, for both cars) with an internet referral, and what I wanted to pay out the door. Explained that I had financing from my own bank and what I wanted. Both times they made sure they found the exact car we wanted, and didn't hassle us with unnecessary extras. I also tend to do the majority of regular maintenance for our cars on my own, and their service department has always been helpful with this. In the rare times I had them do work for me, they never pushed unnecessary work and were always professional. When we had an issue with some minor damage that may have been caused by their service tech, the service manager sat down with me directly and was extremely professional about the problem (and offered to cover the repair in full--with a loaner car free of charge if we requested it). Overall, when it comes to dealer experiences, I've only really had good ones here. Certainly room to improve, but that's true anywhere.

Buying the new car was a great experience. Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I would give them 5 stars. The SERVICE side is horrible. They had my brand new car over 3 weeks to change the radio that was broken when I bought it. I kept having to call to get updates and they would say "the part isn't here yet". So why did they demand I leave my car with them? It was unfriendly, unhelpful, and I wont be going back to them.

My family went in to Matt Slap Subaru on a Saturday with no real expectations. We heard good things from friends/coworkers about this dealership but weren't sure what would happen with our situation. We were approached calmly while walking around outside, we didn't feel pressured at any point in the car shopping experience, and we left completely satisfied. I can not praise this dealership enough! They worked with the bank for days to get my payment where I wanted it to be. They kept me updated on the process multiple times a day! Mark is a wonderful, kind salesman! I was very nervous when I first got there but he is very easy going. He is the one to talk to when your car shopping! My sales professional Ron was great, he took the time to help me decide between the Forester and the Outback and truly showed his concern for putting me in the right vehicle, (the Outback won). I knew what my price point was and Ron along with the sales manager Tom, worked with me toward a number that we all felt good about. Maybe I should give this one to my wife and buy another! I just purchased a 2016 Forester from Matt Slap, it was a great experience. I worked with Carol over the phone and through email, and she got me a great price. I told her I would be able to come in the next evening, and she told me that wouldn't be a problem even though she would be out. Bryan Ford contacted me to let me know he would help me when arrived and gave me his cell phone number just in case I got lost (I live in White Marsh MD and drove to Delaware). Once I arrived, I was greeted immediately, even though it was close to closing time. I sat with Bryan Ford to finalize the sale, and with Chris Mooney who did the financing. They both offered additional items for the Forester, but never pushed me to buy when I declined. I was in and out of the dealer in an hour and 15 minutes, this even includes the time Bryan spent going over the tech in the car and setting up my cell phone after the sale was finalized. I highly recommend Matt Slap Subaru, they were well worth the drive to Delaware.

Any company that tries to take $450 off of a 68 year old woman to replace the serpentine belt and then try to suggest that she needed power steering fluid replacement at $150 should be out of business. Avoid at all costs - go to your local mechanic and find somebody who's honest and has some level of respect for the work they do. These kind of places give auto mechanics a bad name because of their nefarious nature.

If I could give a negative star, I would. When my check engine light came on, my personal mechanic did an initial diagnostic scan, and then advised me to take my car to a dealership as the codes indicated a possible issue with the computer component of my transmission. I paid $125.00 for a diagnostic at Matt Slap. I was told I needed to replace a valve body for my transmission which would be $1500.00 (a part that costs $300-$400, confirmed by my personal mechanic, and would not involve $1100 in labor). I was also told that this was likely not going to fix the issue so I would probably need to spend another $4700 for a refurbished transmission. I denied having any work done on my car. To add insult to injury, I was charged $4.31 for “Miscellaneous Charges and Deductions-Shop Supplies”. When I called and inquired what that was, I was told it was for “things such as rags and other things the mechanics need to work on your car”........NO WORK WAS DONE ON MY VEHICLE. It was hooked up to a diagnostic device and THAT’S IT; yet I was charged an extra $4.31. Furthermore, additional recommendations included new wiper blades for $65.00; my mechanic just put new blades on my car a month ago. Matt Slap sent me a survey asking what my experience was like. I immediately responded that I was dissatisfied for the above reasons; I've yet to receive any response (I completed the survey on Tuesday and it's now Saturday). This was my first experience with Matt Slap Subaru, and it will be my last. If you value honesty and your money, DO NOT GO HERE.

Dropped off the Subaru overnight as recommended by service advisor as the recall involved fire potential only to be told late in the afternoon that the warranty/recall parts needed to be ordered and no overall vehicle inspection or courtesy brake check performed. Told to comeback and reschedule for the following week once parts arrived. Following warranty/recall service the overall vehicle inspection including courtesy brake inspection passed inspection. Upon DIY inspection of the noisy brakes the vehicle ended up needing new rear rotors as the worn pads scored the rotors. Thanks a bunch!

My wife and I were in the market for a new vehicle and I was dreading the sales process but had a great experience with the people at Matt Slap. We made our initial request online and were quickly contacted by Mary Thompson. We then test drove an Outback and a Forester with Jeremy Heydemann who did a great job of pointing out the differences between the two vehicles and became our primary point of contact after that and was very nice to deal with. The service department is absolutely horrible and incredibly unprofessional. They had my boyfriends car for over a week only for us to get it back and one of the issues not be fixed. My boyfriend called and spoke to someone in the department who said he wouldn’t be able to bring his car back in until 04/27 & asked if he’d need transportation and when he said he would she said they wouldn’t be able to have him bring his car in until 04/29 even though it was because of them we had to bring the car back. I called back and spoke to their service manager, Bill and he was able to get us in the next day. My boyfriend works construction and 40 minutes away so unfortunately we didn’t arrive until 5:55 which I understand is 5 minutes prior to closing. Sal, the service attendant, was only concerned with leaving for the night and when Bill told Natalia to get a car ready she questioned him about why. Clearly the employees do not have any respect for the customers and the manager. Both Bill & Sal made fun of my boyfriend for having me call back to have the car brought in sooner. Had their employees done what they were supposed to do in the first place we wouldn’t have been in this position. Not only did we have to deal with their poor attitudes because of when we arrived to drop off but we were asked to sit in the waiting room which is on the other side of the managers office cubicle where he & another worker talked about various employees and how they sucked, other customers as well as myself & my boyfriend. I spoke to Ben Slapp regarding this and was told he would he call me back and never did. When they finally fixed the issue with the transmission pan like they should have from the start we picked his car up to find leaves/flowers from the trees surrounding in his front seat. It is clear the workers here are lazy, unprofessional, and have no idea what good customer service is. My boyfriend works on cars and is very aware of issues with his car. Someone who isn’t familiar with cars needs to beware because I’m sure the service department isn’t completely honest about work that needs to be done and work that was done. My boyfriend paid $300 for something that wasn’t even done. We will not be coming back to this dealership for service or for purchasing a vehicle.

I went to this location to test drive some different subaru models and I made my purpose clear (or so I thought). I spoke to a representative over the phone and met with him shortly after. When I arrived to the dealership, Derrick was with someone else but I had no problems waiting. During that wait another representative started asking me what I was looking for, my price range, etc. which I felt was a waste of both of our times since I'd already discussed this with Derrick over the phone (which I did mention to her but she still continued to waste our time). Derrick was very helpful and friendly but the pressure to buy was easily felt. I made it clear I was only there to test drive being that they did not have any manual cars on the lot for sale and I feel that was either ignored or forgotten. Since then, I have received upwards of 5-6 calls from the dealership seeing if I had changed my mind about wanting a manual car? I understand this is their job but being harassed does not provide a good experience. I do not wish to be contacted about this review but I write this only to warn others to not go if you don't intend to buy a car from them.

I have brought 2 Subaru’s from this dealership, there are many Subaru dealers inside of a radius I would drive for a car. I did not hesitate on Returning to Matt Slap as they are great to work with, both in sales and especially in the service area. I love the fact it is only a Subaru dealership, I know they know my car inside and out. They have rectified any issues I have had. Any service I have that is going to take longer then a hour or so, I am offered a loaner so my service does not interrupt my life. My Fiancé and I came in last Friday to "look" at legacy's, . Well looking turned into her buying a 2016 Legacy with 5k miles. I feel like we got a great deal and they even gave us a great trade in value for her car. Matt Pyle was our salesman and he was very laid back and wasn't pushy at all. He got the payment that we were looking for and we couldn't be happier to now have a Subaru! The only disappointment was that we had to stop at the gas station right after we bought the car. It had under half a tank left. Definitely didn't expect that but other than that we had a great experience. Edit: Originally gave 4 stars but after thinking about it I had to reduce the stars for the gas situation. While we probably should have called right away ( they closed after we left) I feel like after making a big purchase (buying the car) you shouldn't have to worry about filling the tank. I guess the little things just bug me about this... All in all we are happy with the Legacy and will continue to Purchase Subaru's but next time we will double check the amount of gas in the tank.

I don't enjoy writing reviews for much of anything to be frank, however when you get an over the top great experience as I did this past week, you make the time to inform others of the good results you received! With my Subaru being 4 years old and out of Warranty, I took it in to get a leather seat repaired. The Service Manager looked at it and informed me they would take care of it in full with a courtesy Car to use while the repairs took place. With out getting into details, Matt Slap could of easily had me pay for this, but they didn't in this case. Now that will put a smile on your face! They did a great job for me and I really do appreciate how they went above and beyond. I remember my experience when I bought this Car, it was equally impressive. Only one slight problem with the current recall you are dealing with it is taking a long time to get an appointment. I am not sure what to suggest as it is a quandary many businesses run into in high volume periods. I can only say it might be worthwhile to try and find a way to qualify customers as to what their problem is and get the customers that have serious problems in and taken care of while holding off the other customers that have less pressing problems. Other than that you are the usual well organized effective service organization. One last note this is the first time I have ever had to wait any appreciable time for an appointment.

I honestly feel bad ripping this dealership apart, but without going into much detail they caused damage to the brand new vehicle I wanted to purchase before it even drove off the lot. Maybe removing window packaging from a window should not be done with a box cutter? Nevertheless, the did return the money and I did not purchase the vehicle. I will not be returning to Matt Slap

It is always a daunting experience when buying a car. High pressure sales techniques, never knowing if you got a "fair" deal, etc. Not the case with my latest acquisition. We dealt with Laura Hart-Siano. She was extremely honest, knowledgeable and very intent on understanding our needs. At no point was there any pressure..before, during, or after the sale. There is a different culture at this dealership. A culture that seems to be interested in long term, loyal customers rather than making a quick sale. I purchased an Outback two years ago. I have been extremely happy with the vehicle and also extremely happy with the service. I never get the feeling that they are trying to "milk" me for more service dollars than what's needed. It is my previous, exceptional experience that brought me in to lease a new car. I highly recommend this dealership and also highly recommend Laura....although all of the salespeople seem professional and honest.

I bought a 2013 Outback new in Oct of that year from these guys. To be fair I drove the heck out of it, putting on 143k in 5 years. But 3 out or four wheel bearings had to be replaced at just over 100k, recently costing me $1800. And now the car is junk at 143k - full exhaust system including 3 catalytic converters would need to be replaced for around 4k, and my mechanic doesn't recommend doing because it was caused by excessive oil consumption - a known issue by Subaru (there is a class action lawsuit but no recall). I spoke with Subaru national and a service rep at Matt Slap today who both said something to the effect of 'sorry buddy, have a nice day'. I used to be a fan, but I will never buy another Subaru.

Glenn met me on the lot and gave me time to really check out the car inside and out on my own with no interference at first. Literally the most incompetent people work here. They lost my license plate and registration somewhere possibly in the mail and didn't decide to get a tracking number, now I am stuck until my temp tag expires. The guy that talks to you about the extra coverages lies to you about what is actually covered (so read carefully) trying to get to buy things and tries to have you sign papers with the wrong prices because he's lazy. The sales people don't even know about the car and all it's features and nobody likes to call you back or figure things out. Only good thing is the prices. Poor service and I am extremely dissappointed.

I recently bought a used Honda Odyssey from Matt Slap Subaru and had a fantastic experience. Timothy Hyden got us a very reasonable price and made the purchase experience very easy! Now when buying a used car, there is always the potential for hidden car issues that even the dealer is not aware of (which was the case). Within 30-days of purchase, I noticed a thumping sound that was relatively infrequent, but noticeable. I let Chris Mooney know about the issue when I came back to get my new permeant tags, and he took care of it for me immediately. It ended up being an issue with one of the struts, but he fixed it, free of charge, and did not take any shortcuts to save money on his end (i.e. made sure a re-alignment was done and both struts were replaced for consistency). It really shows the quality of service you will get from Matt Slap, and the peace of mind you can have when buying used cars there. Thank you Tim & Chris!

My wife and I were so impressed with our first Subaru ( 2010 Forester ...never had a problem, just turned 100K and had to decide whether to do tires and a timing belt or trade it ) that we decided to replace it with another. I found a Certified 2016 Premium on the web site with just 7,000 miles. I compared this price to other similar cars in the market and it was reasonably priced. Our salesperson, Laura, allowed us to test drive two different cars without her riding along; which my wife really likes as she generally does not care for high pressure salespeople. Once we settled on the '16 Laura did her best to make the deal work for us. We did go back and forth once or twice ( I still think my trade should have received a little more love but they came down on the price of the '16 and got us into a great finance rate) , and in the end I felt we reached a deal that I think was fair for both sides. Ryan in service answered a few questions for me, displaying a great deal of knowledge and professionalism. and Michael in finance got us in and out as quickly as he could, answered any questions and did not try to sell us anything that was unnecessary. We would recommend others to visit Laura, Ryan and Michael.

We had a bad experience with both the service and sales department. This was surprising, as we had good experiences with them for approximately 30 years (they serviced Subarus for us bought from other dealers before we bought cars from them). We have purchased two cars (Outback and Tribeca) from Matt Slap and have used their services over the years, so we were steady and good customers. When our aging Tribeca was having transmission problems we brought it to them for service this week, and the cost of repair was $800. We were told that if we made the repair and the engine worked they would give us $2000 for the car, but if we did not make the repair, we would receive $500. We elected to sell for $500. I checked with two persons there via telephone - informed them of our decision and that we would be selling - making it very clear that we were not trading for another vehicle - on both phone calls. I was told to get my title and bring it in and to talk to the sales manager. We told them the night we would be in and retrieved the title from the bank. When we arrived we were met by the used car manager who was familiar with our situation but told us that it was not a sale offer just a trade - in (he would never buy a car with more than 100K on it he said). He knew who we were, knew the car, etc., so I am pretty sure it was a "bait and switch". When I told him that was not what was agreed on the phone, he said Car Max might take it and tried to get us to settle up and get it off the lot (this car was not safe to drive). I informed him that we would not be doing that tonight. He apologized, but at that point it did not feel sincere. At this point I would never give my business to this dealership ever again, although Subaru makes good cars and we will buy more in the future.

First and last time here for service; paid $119 for a multi-point inspection and diagnostics and left the dealer assured that everything was complete. Three days later, washer fluid light comes on, no washer fluid. Next day, coolant light comes on, coolant less than half full. If I can't trust that you even bothered to check the most basic items, how can I believe you actually did anything you said you did? FYI, left 3 messages for Service, no call back. UPDATE: Two calls to Ben Slap, no return call. I guess you guys are the definition of "you get what you pay for"; the multi-point inspection is free but you don't actually *do* anything about whatever it is you may or may not find during the free inspection assuming you actually inspect anything at all. Got it.

They always get my car in quickly and seem to be much more organized than competing subaru dealerships that I have been too; as the past subaru dealership took almost 3 hours to perform an oil change with an appointment scheduled. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I had just locked down a deal on a '19 Forester, put down a $500 deposit, and shook hands with the sales associate after going over approved numbers. Final paperwork comes back $100 higher, and I ask them to honor the original price. Chris gives me XYZ reasons why I need to pay the new, HIGHER price, so I stand my ground and ask them to honor the price I shook hands on. Instead, Larry joins in and calls me a "pennypincher", has my deposit refunded, tells me they DON'T NEED MY SALE, and sends me on my way! All this over $100 on a $30,000 purchase! All their talk of going "above and beyond" to get me this deal was only them *matching* my lowest quote, and even then it was like pulling teeth! NEVER coming back here and recommending all of my friends to STAY AWAY! Eve Slap I hope you're reading this!!!

I went to Matt Slap Subaru to test drive a Crosstrek for the second time after having a positive experience with this vehicle the first time around, when I was not quite ready to make the purchase. Jeremy Heydemann came out shortly thereafter and helped me with test driving the vehicle. If you are waiting while they work on it car the service is quick but they also have cars they will loan out to you if you do not want to wait. My favorite is their express service which does oil change, and other simple and quick tasks and this does not require an appointment which is really nice and I'm not usually waiting too long. So if you have a subaru i highly recommend coming here when you need any work/repairs

I went to Matt slap to buy another Subaru. Mario was my salesman and he was terrific he helped me through the whole process. He went above and beyond even offering to drive me to work while my car while my car was being serviced and constantly checking up on me to make sure I wasn't waiting too long. I did not have a positive experience with this dealer. Typical tactics. At first I thought they were being honest and straightforward, then quickly turned into a negative experience right before the deal was made. I was clear about what I wanted and was about to accept when suddenly that car did not exist at that price. I was offered another car, with trim cut and for a higher price. I am partially to blame, because I knew the car was not on their lot so I enabled this tactic to be used. Although the salesperson insisted they could get it. On a positive note, during my search, the salesperson answered questions as accurately as he could. He was persistent and returned my calls in a timely manner. I went to another dealer in Maryland, and got an excellent deal on a 2018 with exactly the options I wanted. I established a price for a vehicle on their lot prior to visiting the dealership. They were courteous and professional the entire time.

Ken Pino was our sales rep and buyers BEWARE. This guy is a jerk! He greeted us politely and encouraged us to come inside to beat the heat. He then proceeded to tell us that my budget of under $400 a month is NOT doable in such a luxury car such as a Subaru. He then laughed in our face when we told him our estimated trade-in value of our car. (we would of gladly showed him the trade in paperwork with our estimate on it from a previous dealership). We were excited to be purchasing our first Subaru for our family but we will be taking our business else-ware. Thank you to the few gentleman that were decent there for allowing us to change our daughter on a table and not on the bathroom floor. Please get changing stations in your bathroom for other families. We will NOT be back.
