Shannon was awesome! Couldn't have been happier with the experience other than wait time which was a little over an hour; but coming in without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon when 75%+surrounding areas have been flooded, to be expected. But while we waited they let us look at inventory on their computer! And offered us drinks and when I asked about the wait time told me how many people were left in front of me and I was seen 15 minutes later. Shannon was very helpful, hilarious and kind. She showed us around and helped me find a car in my budget. The best part was she listened to what I was saying rather than trying to upsell me out of my budget. That's what a good salesman does, puts the client first. It's only been a few hours with my car so I can't attest to how amazing that is yet; but I am so happy with my purchase and this was the best customer service I have received in Baton Rouge in years from anyone. Thank you CarMax! I greatly appreciate your help and friendly staff all the way around! I will be recommending friends and family!

We recently made our third purchase from CarMax. They make the whole process easy and efficient from in our case, estimate for a trade and transfer of the auto we wanted to look at, to the purchase. Every time we have been at CarMax, the Sales Consultants have been open and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the cars they are selling. Buying a car here is a lot easier than a traditional dealership. It's more of a guided retail experience than a negotiation and bargaining hassle. The price is what the price is. The only additional costs will be the taxes (Delaware is 4.25%) and any optional service plans you want to add. If you don't know anything about cars, it's okay because the people there will help you find whatever you need. They get a flat rate commission so they aren't trying to put you in something you can't afford. If they don't have the exact car you are looking for, you can have a car transfered in, sometimes even for free. If you like to haggle, and negotiate about prices, go somewhere else. There is an abundance of dealerships who would love to have you overpay for your vehicle. But if you like a laid back, no pressure atmosphere, give this place a shot. Also, if you are just looking to get rid of your old car, they will literally buy anything. As long as it isn't an RV or motorcycle.

The great part was being able to find exactly the car i wanted and have it shipped to a convenient location. The entire concept is phenomenal. The down side was the customer service. The rep that I spoke to was off the day that I was to come in to pick up my vehicle. She attempted to get me to reschedule for a week day. I declined as we had already postponed several times as she was never working. She said she would come in for me on the day of. AWESOME! Well she didnt and didnt bother to reach out to me until I was on my way to the dealership. I ended up sitting around and waiting while they decided who would help me. A nice gentleman helped me but couldnt find the car I'd ordered so that took a bit. Overall, he was nice but during the process gave me some misinformation about the warranty. I went back for the warranty after 2 days and was told I couldnt add it. After speaking to several different people, eventually I was told that I could but I had to pay out of pocket. Well after just putting a substantial down payment on a car, that wasnt an option for me so I just had to suffer. I went back again for a service situation and the sales woman was not there yet again. I reached out to the gentleman that assisted me with the sale and didnt receive a response. The original sales person stopped responding as well. They made their sale so whatever dissatisfaction is just mine to deal with.

Although I ultimately did not come to agreement on a purchase, the folks here were kind and not pushy as you may find at other dealerships. I think overall their cars a priced higher than others and they are in no way willing to come down. I found a much better deal elsewhere. I think their in house financing is a great option in comparison to others so they are worth a look.

I purchased a car from car max 4 months ago with less than 50,000 miles on the car. Now the car won’t crank and I’ve tried reaching Car max and their service department for a week. I’ve left voice mails as well as talked to managers who left messages with the service department. The rest of car max says they have nothing to do with the service department and the service department has been impossible to even speak with at this point. I have not been able to use my car for a week now.

The purchasing process was extremely easy and streamlined. Financing was in place prior to stepping foot in the building. Only issue was a sensor light came on.I left the vehicle there overnight and did not pick up until the next afternoon, thinking this small issue would be fixed. Not at all, the salesman told me to bring to a local dealership to be fixed. Overall the experience was certainly positive and I would recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from car max.

I sold two cars to this location and bought a car. I bought the car in October its April and it already has problems with it. When selling my second car I waited from 10am to 3pm to be seen and I had an appointment they tried to make it right by moving me to the top of the list after waiting for so long(wasnt a happy camper).got low balled for my car I took that Loss sold it to them anyways. I financed the car i sold to them so the bank tells me carmax waited 10 days to make a payment and now they owe 200 extra dollars for collateral protection after I removed insurance since I no longer owed the car and carmax is looking for me to cover the cost. Not satisfied at all.

I wish I would have gone here first. I tried selling my car via Facebook Marketplace first based on a friend's suggestion. After a month of consistent low-ball bids and dealing with indecisive people who often didn't show up when they said they would, I decided to try my luck with CarMax. Honestly, I went in with low expectations and figured they would fast-talk, give me a low-ball offer and then pressure me like the dealership I bought my car from so they could make maximum profit. However, I was wrong. They were really easy to work with and gave me a very fair offer. Then said the offer was good for 7 days, so I could think about it with no pressure. Came back the next day and sold it to them, which was also a very easy process! Would definitely recommend them!

After having my vehicle inspected at another Carmax dealership. No dents or heavy rust. I ordered it to be shipped. When it finally arrived, it had all of the above dents and heavy rust. CarMax offers a 7 day return policy, but they do not tell you that they only pay the appraised value. They also take pride in their vehicle cleaning. The vehicle I bought definitely was not clean inside. The vehicle only came with one set of keys. If you sell or trade a vehicle inn. They require 2 sets. They did offer to give me another set if I would come back. Everyone was nice and courteous.

Last year bought a 2014 Ford Fusion has been an awesome car for me and my wife we have already put 20k mile on it with no real issues orther than 1 tire keeps going low on pressure. So, needing another car we looked at carmax again. We were looking at a Kia but it had no AC and here in Mississippi thats a no deal. So, we looked to see what else they may have had to fit our budget and found a 2009 Ford Fusion and we bought it sight unseen , then found it had a broken door handle and a busted window wiper line - we had a hard freeze a few days before - they fixed both with no hasle and no added cost to us. Ashley was greatbin keeping us up to date on the process.... I am sure My next car i buy will be with them.

(My story) I’ve purchased several vehicles over the years though Carmax and this last purchase might just be my last. I was mostly happy with the condition of the car but not the price nor the explanations given to me by management. The car was overpriced, understanding that they don’t haggle I was simply asking for the reason this particular car was well over the NADA price. I got a lot of smoke for excuses but fortunately for me I understand smoke signals. So IMO, Carmax knows their cars are overpriced but has chosen to take advantage of people’s ignorance. Had I found another car in the same condition elsewhere I would have purchased elsewhere but my window was closing so I took the overpriced auto (Carmax won, this time). They overprice their cars then tell you that even though your choice lender will not “lend” Carmax will finance for you (at an inflated rate), It’s something of a “monopoly”. They offer low value for your trade-in relative to a dealer. They push their service plan which I know from experience is nowhere near as nice as they say it is. I would advise anyone going to Carmax to shop online with local dealers to compare the deal you are getting. There is a reason Carmax vehicles are not on “Car gurus”. “Knowledge is power” Addendum- The car I purchased was missing a part that comes with the car when new. I was told, by carmax, to go to the dealer for this part and tell them to bill CarMax. The parts guy didn't have a clue what I was talking about. He said I would have to contact some other department and explain what was going on but meantime, if I wanted to have that part I would have to pay for it out of pocket. I did. :( (add that to the already over priced auto) On an up note, the sales guy was very nice and helpful.

This was the worse experience I've ever had trying to buy a vehicle. the sales consultant was seemingly incompetent and lied to me every step of the way. A week of wasted phone calls ,gas to drive to their lot and time missed away from work, also they ran my credit twice without warning therefore putting me in a worse positions than I was before i visited the store. It seems that being a black woman gets you disrespected in establishments such as these. They treated me as if I didnt have a pocket full of money. I explained to the "sales consultant" David that the lack of professionalism is causing me to want to leave and not return. His response was ..ok..how nonchalant!. clearly they dont value customers or have no real financial incentives to be professional and honest. I wouldn't recommend anything about this place.

Great salesperson. Great price. Great car. However the business office was and continues to be an unprofessional and inefficient down to every single person that works there. Their responsibility is Titles and Tags. Bought the car in June and still do not have the tags as they forgot to order them TWICE. My employer wont accept the second t tag and I am out of work until they come in "4 to6 weeks" they say. Look, mistakes happen I get it but nobody in that business office even cares. No empathy. No accountability. Cant even get them to call me back. What a way to ruin a good experience. I will never refer them in a positive manner. And now i am unemployed as they say they have no way to expedite the new tags. Unreal.

Have had my Mustang since March and have had constant issues since. My sales agent was great and made the process easier than I experienced with any other dealership. However, I’ve had key issues from the security feature causing my car not to crank and gear issues (gave me a new key only after I took the car up there). Calling and emailing the service department is a complete joke! Then when you go up there they say make an appointment which is what I tried to do by calling 20/30 times literally. My car has a cap less gas tank which apparently causes the check engine light to come on when air seeps in. I took my car up there frequently for that and all they did was turn the check engine light off and told me to come back when it comes back on. It came back on as I was told it would and I called for two weeks straight and got no answer. Emailed a picture and all to the service rep and still had no reply. As a working single parent that can’t have my phone out at work, I can only call on breaks and lunches at which I always do. Finally just went up there and the rep said, “what we do here is make an appointment to look at it.” Service tech were standing around looking, talking, doing absolutely nothing and I was given an appointment for an entire week later (after being told I was give 6months or 6000 mile extended warranty even though NOTHING was done to fix it) which I could not make because it was after Labor Day and I couldn’t miss work and still get paid. Why have the carmax care plan if you can’t get serviced. Complete waste of money and I wish I knew how to take it off!! Never fixed the issue, just turned off a light and told me to come back. I’m beyond tired of trying to deal with the poor customer service of the service team. To your recent response, no one has tried to contact me nor have they left a message. I work 8-5 Monday through Friday and cannot have my phone on the center floor. A message would be a start but I have neither a message nor a missed call from Carmax!

I got to drive my car for 3 days before it broke down and needed a brand new engine! when I called maintenance they tried to convince me to drive it until they could look at it a month later when they could make me an appointment. But it didn't even drive! I had bought a car from them before (yes I made the mistake of going back after this time) and the air conditioning didn't even work. How Do they do the full 200 something point inspection but miss the radiator and engine on each vehicle? I wish I never got another car from these people because they just flip them cheap to sell them quick. Currently in a rental a month and a half later still waiting for the vehicle I pay 350 a month for to be fixed. Hopefully there is nothing else wrong with it because by the time it's finished, my 30 day warranty will be expired. Maybe that is why they have the appointment so late?? To avoid having to fix more that's wrong with the car.... Such a mistake coming here again. Please avoid it at all costs!!

The car is great but beware of things promised to be fixed in a timely manner. I was promised two replacement tires because the tread did not meet their standard, the vehicle provided information also showed satellite ready and it is not but I didn't check it before I drove it off the lot. It's been a month since the promised tires and I'm still waiting and will probably not get them either.

I recently purchased a BMW M3 2016 vehicle from this store. Hopefully this finds the right people and warn them before purchasing a performance vehicle from this place. On the day that I went to pick up my car, the dealer called me 20 mins before the appointment and notified me that there was a huge crack on my windshield. They promised me that they will fix it in its original condition and offered me a loaner car if I pick up the car that day. Because I have already cancelled the auto insurance on a current car and replaced with M3, I decided to take the loaner car until they fix the wind shield. I called next day and asked the service manager about the wind shield and he said that it will be fixed with a aftermarket glass by a third party. I told them that aftermarket windshield is never the same as manufacturer's original equipment and the sensors may not work as good. The response I had from the service manager is that that is the standard at Carmax and he will not replace with original manufacturer's glass. The windshield cost for BMW M3 compared to aftermarket is huge. They said if my rain sensor or heads up display do not function well after replacement, I will have to deal with the third party and not CarMax. Bottom line, I ended up calling the head quarter office and trying to resolve the issue and currently waiting for a response. I did not purchase KIA or Hyundai and I certainly did not expect Carmax to place a cheap thirdparty windshield on my M3. I currently have 5 days to return this vehicle and if this is the game they are going to play, so be it.

By far the best experience I have had on a car lot. I didn't work with a pushy sales rep and I was not hustled into financing my car through CarMax. I had already picked the car I wanted and had it transferred from Texas, but my experience at the car lot was a lot easier than I expected. My sales rep, April, was AWESOME and very nice!! I'd recommend CarMax to anyone in the market for a new car.

I purchased my vehicle on 11/03/18. had an exceptional experience with Dina and Bob in sales and with their sales manager. The staff was very helpful. It didn't feel like a normal car dealership, it was much better! There was no pressure, rush or hidden agendas. Dina went above and beyond to help me with my purchase. I bought a car and although it was really nice and had all the bells and whistles I really wanted a cross over/SUV. I changed my mind after the 5 day grace period and they still honored my decision and worked with me, I was able to get into a SUV without being upside down. The application process was easy, I was approved and new my payment and interest rates and was told which bank the offers were from and I was given a choice to select the bank based on my needs.

As far as purchasing the vehicle it was seamless and actually enjoyable. However, just 5 days after buying my Jeep I broke down on my way to work and my "new to me" Jeep had to be towed back to Carmax. I lost a day of work and was absolutely frustrated that the exact same reason I got rid of my old car was now an issue with my new car! Carmax did pay for the tow truck, the rental car and fixed the problem (it was the throttle box). I had my car back the very next evening and (knock on wood) no further issues since. I strongly recommend having the vehicle inspected by your own mechanic (I was actually taking my Jeep that very same day to mine for an inspection). Even though this was a very frustrating and stressful situation I was treated exceptionally well and the manager of the Carmax made sure I was OK, that the tow truck arrived and that the rental was provided without issue. They truly do stand behind the vehicles they sell and in-light of this unfortunate event I would still purchase another vehicle from Carmax.

I wish I could shout out all the names of the folks I worked with as everyone was very helpful. I did have an issue with the brakes on my Flex but they scheduled some time to come in and took care of it promptly. I think the brake issue could have been avoided but it's a small issue and was remedied quickly. Overall I'm very impressed and happy I went through them. We took a car for appraisal and the process was excellent. All staff were very professional and knowledgeable. We looked around with Doug Hunt for vehicles on the lot that fit our needs. There was never any pressure and after some general information he let us wander the lot looking at vehicles. After a while he checked on us to see where we were in our search and to let us know our appraisal was complete. We talked about some of the models we found but then he searched other Carmax stores for the model we narrowed in on. He found and had a unit transferred from PA for free. He assisted us with our need to complete the process expeditiously due to our schedules. When we arrived the night to actually complete the purchase and the trade -in, we had a smooth process due to the pre-work we completed with Doug. We did not spend much time and drove away able to enjoy some of our evening.

Had the car shipped from Norwood, MA to Manchester, NH. That was free and simple. What was extremely frustrating was the 10 days it took them to “prep” the car so I could look at it. I was very disappointed with this and almost told them to keep the car as a result. That being said it was a great car and the money was right. Once we actually could look at the car the process including financing couldn’t have been simpler. From start to stop less than 2 hours and we were out the door with the keys and a temp tag and their interest rate was 2 points better than my bank. Overall I would buy from CarMax again.

I recently got an oil change and was informed that the break pads were nearly non-existent on the car and that there is no way I would’ve been able to get through that much on my break pads in less than a year. The poor rating is specifically for the service at the Jackson, MS location. I think CarMax in general has a great system going on with their huge, online, searchable inventory. When I bought my vehicle, it had a very slight cigarette smoke smell mostly masked by cleaning products. I thought the smoke smell would go away in a couple days, but it actually got much worse because the cleaning product smell went away. I called CarMax and they said they could do something about the odor if I brought the car back to their store. I live 90 mins away so that would be a big hassle. I know it is not their fault that I live so far, but if there was an obvious smoke smell in the car, why would they not perform the odor elimination treatment before they sold the car? Also, the lock box they hang on the car window at the dealership broke the rain deflector on the driver's window. I asked them to fix this at the time of purchase, but the maintenance staff had already gone home for the day, so I would need to return for it to be fixed. Again, why was this not fixed before I arrived to view the car? I had the car delivered from another location and made an appointment to see/buy it so these problems should have been fixed before I arrived. I had to pay out of pocket for a local car detailing shop to remove the smoke smell using an ozone generator and shampoo the carpet, which took hours. It would have taken the better part of a day had I driven back-and-forth to CarMax and waited for them to perform the same treatment.

We bought both of cars through Carmax after our lovely Nissan decided to leave us with engine trouble. Sales team was great, the whole car buying idea was great. It was no hassle and we were able to take the vehicles out we wanted with little to no trouble at all. For car sales i give this place a 4 or even 5 out of 5 stars. It is the warranty and service department that are failing in everything. We bought both cars with warranties from Carmax. It cost more but the idea was that I would not be working on vehicles any more. I also tried to purchase the most reliable vehicles available. In less then a month the 2016 Honda CRV started to give me wife problems with the brakes. I called told them that I waned to bring it in for warranty repair and that is when the disaster starts. I asked for a loaner car, i was not aware that they only had a few loaner vehicles. The repair was in the first 90 days BUT it was also in the manufacturers warranty period. So they take the car give us a POS Dodge Journey (Don't get me started on this poor vehicle) and now it will be over a 2-3 week period before they even get to the vehicle. Then they will send it over to Honda for repair. They wont do repairs to the vehicles under manufacturers warranty and I fully understand this, but they won't even LOOK at the vehicle for almost 3 weeks THEN send it to Honda. I contacted Honda and they were back logged approx 1 week and that was it. So now I'm stuck in a loaner vehicle and paying for a pre owned car I can't drive for almost 3 weeks. Getting a loaner vehicle from them is also a fiasco and will take approx 1-2 hours of waiting IF one is available. Now in all fairness this is on the warranty period of 90 days from Carmax and NOT the extended plan. If the extended plan is as bad as this then I paid a lot of extra money for a service that may fix my car but at the same time is going to give me a massive migraine from trying to deal with the service department and waiting forever with a loaner vehicle. Seriously, the sales department and car buying idea was great, service and warranty (at least for me in the 90 day period) has been an abysmal FAILURE. 3 plus weeks is NOT acceptable for a time frame to simply LOOK at a car to send it to the manufacturer when i already KNOW Honda would see it in far less time. Work on the above issues of the service and warranty portion of the business and you would have a 5 out of 5 star rating.

I like the concept of their “no-haggle” sales process. The price they gave was very fair. I also like their service of shipping a vehicle to my local CarMax location for a reasonable fee. The only negative part of the experience was the issue with replacing the battery. When we arrived to test drive the vehicle, it would not start due to a weak battery. They assured us they would replace the battery before we purchased the car. They tried to walk back that commitment when we arrived to purchase and pick up the car. After walking away from the deal, we received a phone call committing to replace the battery. We are happy with the vehicle and the price we paid. Too bad about the battery issue.

Their policy is you can return it up to 5 days no questions asked. This was about 10 days and they still took it back for what we paid for it because they remembered telling us it would tow what we needed it to. It was fine in the end but we had a car transferred to Maine from North Carolina (and paid for that transfer) which got delayed by about 2 weeks. We were traveling out of the country when it came in. During this process we called and had several conversations with different people of course about the car and when we could come in to look at it and most likely buy it, which did not make it into our file despite being told that they would make a note. When we returned and called about the time we had set up previously to see the car there was no record of that appointment or that we wanted that car. They had not set aside the car for us but fortunately it was still on the lot. This company scams you into thinking you can have them "HOLD" a vehicle for 7 days. An outright lie! Scam! BS! Whatever you want to call it. I registered on their website as instructed. Clicked the icon that was to "HOLD" the selected vehicle for 7 days and made an appointment (which was required) to go and inspect and drive the vehicle. Received a confirmation email from CarMax stating my vehicle was ready and waiting for me. I showed up on time with excitement to purchase the vehicle "specifically held for me" and was introduced to a nice young man named Miles. We walked the lot to to look at OTHER vehicles because the one that was held "just for me, and for 7 days" miraculously had been sold. Imagine that. It's called BAIT AND SWITCH and has been going on in the car industry for 50 years. Miles spoke to his manager and said he would be happy to show me another vehicle.....REALLY! No apology or visit from a manager. Unbelievable. Steer clear of this shady establishment. WASTE OF TIME, FALSE ADVERTISING, BAD BUSINESS!!

The sales staff were very nice, no pressure. However, after paying $23,000 for a used car I expected it to fully detailed. It was delivered to me with dog hair in the rear cup holders and window linings, spare tire compartment was full of mud and rocks, rusty brake dust covering the inner rims, and painted tape over one of the rear corner lights (from who knows what, they wouldn’t tell me, “normal touch up”). It then proceeded to have a heavy vibration over 50 miles per hour. It took many phone calls before they would actually speak to me on the phone (kept having to talk to a satellite location). Overall it was just sloppy and they seemed to take no pride in the condition of the car. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because Matt in the service center is amazing and when I dealt with him everything was taken care of.

The no hassle sales and the "just one moment let me speak with my manager" does NOT happen. The price is the price and if there is another location with the same vehicle at a lower price the salesperson is happy to get it shipped to Jackson. All of our vehicles we have purchased have proven their mileage. Our next purchase will be with Carmax.

The dealer named DJ was very nice and I enjoyed him. However, the whole experience was so bad that I had to walk out! The appraisal was so much lower than Kelley blue book/ NADA. They said it was bc it was in Canada. They said after a car with 3 owners its odometer was rollback. Yet if you look at the mileage report. There’s not like a huge gap in between the years. The odometer reading was recorded quite a bit. So why would someone roll back. They say they’re trained but I don’t think they were fully trained. I believe they were trying to give me the lowest of the low price so they can turn around knowing good and well they’re going to try and sell my vehicle for 15 to 17,000 after a $4,500 offer. So if you go to Carmax do not let Jason B. Certified your vehicle. Only reason I’m giving this a 1 star is bc of DJ.. otherwise it would have been no stars. Don’t let appraisers fool you. Do your research on how much your vehicle is worth before you go here!!! Bc there’s no way I would sell my truck for $4,500 when I could clearly get up to $12,000. It’s tires were starting to dry rotted when I got it. It sat and wasn’t used!!! Where should I begin. My wife and I were skeptical about buying a used car. Always bought new bought we wanted something bigger and a little nicer with our commutes. We decided to look for an Acura RDX with low miles and CarMax had one in like new condition. Upon getting to CarMax I had three cars shipped in and waiting my arrival. They were on the ball and very on top of things. Getting there we were greater by the team and our appraisal was under way for our current car we wanted to trade in. Going in I expected to be low balled based on online reviews and past dealer experiences. Not at all. Granted I keep my cars in like new condition and maintain them myself, we got top KBB value for it. I immediately said let’s do business. We ended up biughting an Acura all set and done in and out three hours with two tests drives, and signing papers. After opening the car up on the highway I notified a issue with the rotars/tires. I could feel the rotars bouncing around and new they needed replaced. I called them up and was scheduled in. Took the car in and once again super polite, professional, and just awesome. Ended up replacing all rotars and re balancing the wheels. No cost to me and I couldn’t be happier. The staff was probably the best car staff I have ever worked with!!! We will definitely be buying our next car from CarMax Manchester!

Carmax sells used rental cars and they use inferior paint and defective process that cause it to bubble after a few months. I have contacted John Muller and a gentleman named Nick at the corporate office. Neither are responding to my request to provide a signed credit app. I now have to get the authorities involved as they had to have forged my signature which is a class A misdemeanor. Do not buy a car from here! Update: I have reached out to John Muller multiple times even in writing that I need a copy of my signed credit app. He has not responded or reached out to me at all. The pros: I like my new truck. The cons: my sales guy was very inexperienced and made several big mistakes. First, I paid to have it shipped from another location, and he said it was inspected at the first location, then again in Jackson, MS. He said it was ready to go for a test drive, so I made an appointment. When I get there, the truck had a low tire. Not a good start. Second, the service department isn't open on Saturday so nothing could be done about this low tire. Who doesn't service cars on Sat? Third, it was raining during the test drive. My wife asked to be let out under the covered area. Nope, he makes all us get out in the rain. Fourth, I asked about some of the advanced features of the truck. The best he could do was read the feature list off the website, which I already read. Fifth, I asked if he could get some all terrain tires put on the four wheel drive truck. He said no, but let me ask my manager. He comes back to say yes, they can help buy them at cost. Ok, good, but he didn't follow through with that, and it has been several days. Sixth, the waiting room area is very unpleasant. The overhead lights make loud buzzing sound like a gym or warehouse. It gave us all a headache after waiting hours on slow service. They were out of coffee and water. Seventh, on Saturday I was told I could pay with a credit card for the full price of the vehicle. On Monday as we get ready to pay, the business office says "no", only debit cards. Kind of a key detail to overlook. So then I have to coordinate with my bank after hours. Eight, after finally paying, it took another 1.5 hours to sign papers and get my title and keys.

I am at Service Department at this moment for my Cobalt. The car is still under the 90-Day Warranty. Check engine light came on and headlights burned out. Service Department got me in asap. July 2019... Last week, only because of Derrick, I purchased another vehicle from CarMax. During the 7-Day Money Back Guarantee period, we had car inspected by a reputable service department in Baton Rouge. Problems were discovered. I reported problems to CarMax Service. CarMax Service got me in yesterday, repaired all that needed repairing, and had me back on the road the same day. I am pleased. And... If looking for a vehicle, ask for Derrick. He is 5 Star! [Previous Review] May 2019... Derrick Robinson is good. He is not a "salesman", he is a good man in sales. So, they get 2 stars because of Derrick. On their own, they get 1. [continue reading to learn why I upgraded them to 3 Stars] The popular phrase at CarMax is, "I will partner with [insert department]." However, I was not impressed. Derrick, as my sales rep, was often answering my questions with, I do not know. So, I called on his supervisors. His supervisors informed me, he is not privy to that information. What information, you ask. Well, I wanted to know why my car was not available for the date Derrick was told to tell me. Come to find out, my car was not available because the passenger-side visor mirror was broken, and CarMax was waiting on the arrival of the mirror so they could replace it. That is the information Derrick was not allowed to know. My good sales rep, the one I am relying upon to help me buy a car, is telling me, "I don't know", because CarMax, the company big on partnering with one another, will not let him know my car is not available because of a broken visor mirror. Does not seem like a good partnership. In the end, I finally got my car, without the visor mirror [my decision]. In the end, if you want a good sales experience, go see Derrick. Side note: Derrick was told by CarMax that they will notify me when the mirror arrives, so they can replace the mirror. That was one month ago. Neither Derrick, nor I, have heard any word from CarMax. UPDATE... As of May 25, still no word given to Derrick or me about visor mirror. UPDATE... As of May 28, Service told Derrick they are concerned my schedule will not work with their schedule. Interestingly enough, Service did not call to ask about my schedule. So, it appears they are blaming me for mirror not getting installed, rather than take responsibility for not doing their job. But, they did tell Derrick they will call (which is what they said before). Now, May 31... Still no call from Service. Inexcusable. Bad customer service. As of 1st week of June... I had CarMax send me the visor mirror, so I can get it installed on my own. June 11... A CarMax Sales Manager left me a voicemail requesting a meeting. I hope to meet with him June 14. Response from the owner an hour ago (June 13) "Hi Josh. Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback with us. We take a lot of pride in the quality of our cars and are sorry to hear you're feeling frustrated with your vehicle. We shared your feedback with our local management team and understand they have since been in contact with you. Thank you for giving us the chance to assist. - Your Customer Care Team" I said nothing about quality of car or feeling frustrated about my vehicle. My disappointment is in the quality of service from management and the service department. I am pleased with car. I am pleased with Derrick. I am not impressed by customer service.

What they don’t tell you is how messed up their finance option is and how much MORE they price up the car. Other dealerships I have been too offered me between 40k and 43k which is reasonable... carmax literally offers me 33k.... are you kidding me? 60k dollar truck with all the options EVERY OPTION AND they offer me 33k like I have a 2 wd 4 cylinder work truck.. they probably didn't have even look at my truck. And my customer service rep barely even spoke to me I sat alone for two hours and not one person told me anything or even offered me a water? They will never get my business or anyone I care abouts business either. If I could give them a negative rating I would.

I went to CarMax for my first (actual) vehicle purchase. The sales rep I had was very rude, unhelpful, and the only thing he actually tried to do was push on their extended warranty, even after I told him I wouldn’t want it. I had to return 3 days in a row JUST to finance my car because instead of him telling me all of the documents I needed to have upfront, he waited to tell me anything. They claim to do this “356 point inspection” before the car leaves the lot in order to ensure that the car leaves in top condition. But they did not do that to my car, and I know because I watched it the whole time I was filling paperwork and nobody was there. I even noticed the car next to mine was leaking some sort of fluid. And not even 3 days of having my car, I had to return to CarMax yet again because my air conditioner was broke ever since I got the car. After they “fixed” it, I went to turn my headlights on that evening, and they were broken. On top of that, it’s now 2 weeks later and my AC is broken again. So not only did they sell me a faulty vehicle, they have yet to actually fix my vehicle, they broke it more than it was before. Needless to say, I will not be going to CarMax anymore for any new vehicle purchase. I am very unhappy with the customer service, the quality of the car they sold me, and their maintenance department has yet to actually do anything helpful as far as fixing my car.

It was an "okay" experience. I went in for an appraisal because I was told CarMax offers more than most traditional dealers on trade-ins. I had full intentions of buying a car here but was so shocked by my offer I took my business elsewhere. I was then offered almost double what CarMax quoted me for the same car on the same day, just hours after my appointment. I saw where others said visiting here gave them a good idea of what their car was worth and I disagree. Based upon my experience, I wonder how many other people were low-balled and didn't realize it because they were desperate or just didn't know their trade in value. I know some people will sit there and say their car is worth more than they were offered (without considering depreciation, mileage, mechanical/cosmetic issues, etc), but I couldn't shake the shady feeling I got when I met eyes with my sales rep as I was leaving. Then I find out my car is worth double that. It just doesn't feel...right.

I just went in to check out a car I saw online. I walked in and was greeted immediately which was nice. But that’s about the only good thing. The girl helping me asked if it was cold out. I said it’s a little chilly and she responded by shivering and said “I’m scared to go out there and see what it’s like”. She then pointed to the door and gave me directions to where the car was and said the door is unlocked. What?! So I have to wander around your lot and find the car I was interested in ?! I’m not going to be shown the car ?! What if I wanted to test drive it?!! Maybe that’s their process, but there was no way I was going to buy a car with that service. They didn’t seem to be interested in selling me a car either.

Wow.... Am I disappointed with CarMax... I had such high hopes for them when they came to Manchester New Hampshire to compete with all the tier-1 dealerships in the area. I have two areas of disappointment with CarMax and let's start with the first one, which is the presentation of the car. The vehicle I was looking for was rather specific and they had one, so I was very interested. During my walk around I opened the hood and noticed that the grill moved around a little bit. I pulled on the grill to find out that it was being held in place by only two fasteners and the remaining ten fasteners were missing. I also noticed that the bumper fasteners, below the grill, were missing and there's a total of 9 of those. I pointed this out to the sales person who was surprised told me about carmax's awesome hundred twenty five point vehicle inspection and said she would open a work order to get those retainer clips installed. Did they think no one would notice the front end nearly ready to fall off? So somebody removed the front grill and bumper and lost all the fasteners. WHY? HOW? When I took delivery of the vehicle it was noted that the clips had been ordered and I should come back and they will get installed for me. A few days later I swung by CarMax and offered to take the clips and install them myself since it was such a simple procedure. CarMax had no issue with me doing the repair and handed me a bag of four clips for the grill. I asked where the rest of the clips were and they indicated they had only ordered four. At this point I'm a little annoyed because I need six more clips for the grill and nine for the bumper. Having an insufficient number of clips I went over to the Nissan dealership where I bought the remaining clips and the bumper fasteners. It turns out the grill clips were the wrong ones, and I could not get the grill reattached, so I had to go back to the Nissan dealership and find the right clips. Other not able delivery failures. 1. The spare tire had only 20 pounds of air in it 2. Three of the main tires were filled to proper air pressure while the fourth was a whopping SIX pounds under. 3. The oil drain plug was leaking due to a missing Crush Washer. 4. The interior windshield was the dirtiest windshield I have ever seen. Clearly no one made any effort to clean this windshield before the car was delivered to me. Now for my disappointment during the purchase process. CarMax had a great selection and my sales person was great at talking to me and working with me to find the right vehicle. On a Sunday I swung by the dealership in the late afternoon to settle on the vehicle I was purchasing. we spent about an hour filling out all the computerized forms so that the next day I could come in and speed through the process and take delivery of the vehicle. We spent about a full hour on Sunday doing paperwork. On Monday I expected to "Speed Through” the paperwork and take delivery of the vehicle. Well it seems like we did all the paperwork over again at least three times, and it took no less than 2 hours to do the paperwork again. I can't explain why we did everything over again and again. To make matters worse once all that lengthy paperwork was done the sales person had to go put gas in the vehicle. I've literally been sitting there for 2 hours and no one could have taken the time to get the gas put in the vehicle. To compensate me for my time the sales manager offered to do the vehicle inspection for free. Well that's nice considering they charge an OUTRAGEOUS $54.00 (the highest I have ever seen). However I'll pass on that offer because I don't trust they would do a valid, meaningful inspection. Their 125 point inspection is rubbish and if the vehicle has issues I don't trust they would take responsibility and fix them. I'd rather pay $28.00 to the guy down the street and find the truth.

I had two experiences here, the first was a five star experience that I have come to take for granted from CarMax. The man helping me was knowledgeable and respected the price range I gave him, and did everything he could to be helpful and courteous. I went back after the first visit to see the same gentleman that assisted me the first time, but he was working on something and had a fellow assist. As CarMax is not run like a standard dealership the incentive program allows for other salesmen to interact with customers without penalizing the first. The second guy was awful. 1/5 stars. He acted like a typical greasy used car salesman. Constantly trying to upsell to cars out of my price range or to brands I didn't care for and had already told him I wasn't interested in. Once I found a vehicle to test drive he started trying to push the warranty on me before we had even gotten off the parking lot. Once off the lot he couldn't bother to pry his face off his phone to give me directions on where to go, which as a non-resident of Jackson left me feeling very nervous and uncomfortable. He was awful and I literally could not get away from him fast enough. I parked the test drive as soon as I could and vacated the premises like I was being chased by a killer clown. TL;DR Some salesmen are great, others are so bad they literally chase you away

All the cars on the lot are all unlocked so you don't have to feel the pressure of having to deal with a salesman. The price you see on the window is final price. They call it there no Hagel price. Price is firm,no if and or buts. Staff is always happy and willing to help you when you ask questions. They do not breath down your neck. Makes the shopping or browsing experience a breeze. I’ve was off and on viewing CarMax for about a year. Very skeptic of how you can buy a car without driving and touching it. I’m older school (NOT OLD), where haggling and taking risks based upon a sales persons word is part of the challenge! So after reading reviews, trying to talk myself away from such a silly idea of buying a car online, talking to people that had purchased through CarMax, I figured I’d give it a try... I regret nothing! The business model for this company is spectacular. The effort they put in to make you as comfortable as possible is second to none. I didn’t want this to go this well. I wanted my cynical side to be right that you can’t possibly buy a car on line and be happy with it. A Car! Not a pizza you can toss out if you don’t like it or a pair of shoes you can send back. A CAR! Now the caveat to this great experience is to read everything you can, their site pretty much gives you all the info on each vehicle. I additionally purchased CarFax Premium for a further in-depth look at the vehicle (your choice but remember I did not want this go well so I could be right, for once anyway. Yes I’m married). I chose a vehicle that had to be shipped to my location so it was on my dime to do it. Very inexpensive and again my choice. They have many, many vehicles at every location. Just depends on what you are looking for. From the first phone call to the test drive. From driving my vehicle home to the follow up after purchase, the people at CarMax made buying my vehicle effortless and enjoyable.

I just purchased my third car from Carmax. Having purchased cars from traditional used car dealers has made me appreciate the Carmax experience. The motivations and interests of a Carmax associate are aligned with your own (they only want to find you the car that you like.) In contrast, at a traditional dealer, your associate wants to find you a car you like and then it is in their personal best interest to have you pay as much as possible because they draw commission on your sale price. Carmax is better! (Both times I have traded my car in, they gave me a completely fair amount for my trade; in line with KBB) The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that I realized after driving off the lot that some of my turn signal lights were not working. I would have expected their inspection process to have caught that. In complete fairness, however, when I called Carmax about that they were apologetic and offered for me to either bring it back for them to fix for free or take to a local dealer and they would reimburse me for any costs (whatever I found more convenient. ) In the end, they made it right so I would really give them 4.5 stars.

I was highly impressed with the fact that my salesman, Tad, took the time to search the company's inventory across the entire country to find a vehicle which matched my very specif, highly-detailed requests. When he learned of an unusual medical matter I deal with, he educated me about a very useful feature on certain vehicles about which I had no previous knowledge; that item quickly went on my "wants" list that he incorporated into his extensive search. In a short time, he located a vehicle which met and, actually, surpassed everything I had ever considered asking for. One major draw, for me, to CarMax in the first place is its "no haggle" policy on pricing. I've done haggling during the purchase of previous vehicles at other places and absolutely hate the practice. The main reason I even considered CarMax in the first place is because a friend of mine, whose opinion I value, told me last year that he has been getting his cars at CarMax since before I even ever knew him, which was news to me. (If HE'S always been happy, I knew in advance that CarMax would be worth checking out!) I also discovered that CarMax truly is a "no pressure" sales place. After my initial visit, I didn't return for about one month. At no time during that month, did anybody from the company contact me with any type of sales intention. I am very happy with, and about, my recent purchase at CarMax.

I was very pleased with my car buying experience, although I can see some room for improvement. I really like the ability to shop for cars outside the dealership and send them to the local center, it really opens up the options available if you can afford to be patient. I really liked Jayda and the manager at this location and have been very pleased with my car so far. Two issues I found: As soon as I took the car off the lot, the rubber on the windshield wipers started whipping around. I took it right back and the manager reimbursed me for the cost of new wipers because the service department had already left. That was an awesome gesture, but it gave me doubts that they really checked the car over. Fortunately, I was able to verify with my mechanic that there were no other issues, but it does make me wonder how closely they go over these. They sent my car from Memphis, but didn't send the lease. This delayed me by a couple days as I couldn't test drive it until the lease came in, which was very unfortunate as I was without a car for awhile. I can't really blame Jackson for that, but it was a pain. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I am grateful to Carmax for the good deal and great service.

The NEW CarMax in Lafayette has only been open for 2 months but they certainly have got the service down pat. I almost couldn't start my car this morning and suspected it was the starter. Overall my experience was good. I do wish that the price for transfer is deducted if the purchase is made. I’ve worked with Mike Whitaker twice now. Overall very satisfied however, when I got home and took a closer look, I found a couple cigarette burns in the headliner. I also used the heater that day and I smelled smoke. It was listed as a non smoking vehicle. I called Mike and felt as if he didn’t quite believe it was there after he had cleaned the car. My family and I are passionate non smokers. I do not have a single friend that smokes. If I did, they would never be allowed to smoke on any of my property let alone drive my car and burn the headliner above the driver door. I sent pictures to Mike and he said I could contact the service department and see what they will do but he said that they absolutely would not replace the headliner because it was around $1,000. I was disappointed that he didn’t offer to talk to the service department on my behalf. I just feel he didn’t believe me. I went and replaced the cabin filter and followed directions on line to improve the smell and it has helped. I just didn’t feel he believed me nor did I feel like a valued customer after the sale was complete. If I found a match in your inventory in the US, I would have returned the car.

My husband paid $499 to have a truck shipped to South Portland. WEEKS later, they are still trying to "find" the title, apparently they bought the truck at an auction and nobody can seem to put their hands on it. In the mean time they have promised to refund the shipping fee, which also hasn't happened. Trying to get a straight answer out of anyone, if you manage to out wait the "on hold" music is next to impossible. Buyer beware!

I bought a 2015 Toyota RAV4 at the CarMax in Roswell GA on April 23rd. I had excellent service there and found my sales rep to be very knowledgeable and skilled during the whole appraisal/purchase process. I have just returned home to ME after my winter away and contacted the So. Portland dealer about drilling holes in my front bumper for the second license plate required here. They scheduled an appointment for that at no charge to me. While there for the license plate, it occurred to me that I hadn’t had a ME inspection; in GA only emissions testing is required. Again, since the inspection is something that would have been done had I purchased the car here, they took the car right back in and inspected it. Again there was no charge. I was extremely pleased with this service and feel they went above and beyond! I am recommending CarMax to everyone. I should add that I initially went to the GA CarMax on my son in law’s recommendation. He has purchased 6 vehicles there over the years and has only high praise for each transaction.

My experience with CarMax was nothing but positive. When walking in I was looking to get out of a a vehicle that I was dumping money into every other week for repairs. I was given the opportunity to look at all the vehicles on the lot while they reviewed my vehicle for a trade in value. I purchased a 2013 Chevy Impala from the south Portland store. Sales representative was amazing thank you for helping me through the sales proccess. I drove the vehicle for about a week noticed a light came on for engine hot a/c off on the dash. Called CarMax hotline an was directed to a mechanic who ended up calling me back shortly after. Dropped my car off they flushed the coolant an replaced a part. They called me back the same day to tell me it was all set. I've made several attempts to call the mechanic with no calls back from anyone. Vehicle is still under warranty, worried it is going to run out before it's actually fixed. Also advised the mechanic about hard shift with the transmission which he claimed was fine, NOT. I also found trash underneath my hood also the positive battery terminal was left loose. Think it's time to bring it to the dealership. I will update the review baised off the outcome of the service.

Only downfall was they were not willing to wheel and deal on the prices, however my new car had one issue they found before i showed up to look at it. They did not try to conceal it they were upfront about it and fixed it. I took the car to a cerified dealer and had it reinspected within my 7 days and everything checked out. UPDATE: 1/24/2016 Wow, so I was outside looking at my tires, truck originally came with 4 Michelins they took 2 off and replaced those with Bridgestone, at night with a flashlight and the Michelins were cracked up like varicose veins everywhere. I couldn't see them in the daily light, but at night with a flashlight, BAMMM!! I had such a good experience with my first purchase from Carmax in Austin, TX I didn't hesitate to question the one in Jackson. I travel for work, so finding a Carmax near me is slim pickn's. These guys in Jackson are a joke. May God have mercy on you boys. 5/2014 Cost for getting first truck transferred: $99 + 5hrs at Carmax Cost for getting second truck transferred: $799 + 6hrs at Carmax and bought it Associate: Allen Key is a good man Managers assisting: Good b4 one of them saw I spent money repairing the truck Detailing: Not even "Their inspection" 125 point; 150; 200: Yeah, NO!!! I took it for granted, it being Carmax; where "It's how car buying should be",that Carmax did their thorough inspections. I got the truck home and the radiator was half full and the reservoir was completely empty; there was crusty fluid residue. I went ahead and got fluid and replaced the oil $200. The aftermarket stereo in the truck was not working right. I took the truck to Best Buy and had to pay $220 to getting it working right. So far, Carmax isn't taking any responsibility for any of this. Yeah, I got the Repair addon. Can't wait to see how they "put the screws" to me!!

The WORST PLACE EVER IN MY OPINION!!! Well except for the young lady who tried to help but the MANGER didn't care. My dissatisfied experience happened in August while my son's happened a few days ago. Single mother of 3 college students finally able to help my daughter buy a car for college and everything was set got INSURANCE on the car before we signed final papers bc sales said everything looked good (have proof) we were very excited but they needed to verify one more direct deposit but the place was closed so they allowed me to put insurance on the car until next day. Once we came back excited we were told that income could not be used bc it was through the federal government which I had for years and used to purchase my own car at a previous dealership 2 years ago. So my baby didn't get the car from them. Went through the entire process only to be told Sorry but NO at the end. Tried to talk my son out of going and he ended up having a very Bad experience as well. He went to purchase a vehicle had his down payment of $2100 signed all papers but once the insurence company faxed over the paperwork he was told that his fathers deductible was to high. Never heard of $1000 deductible being to high to purchsse a car. Needless to say while we were trying to explain that he'll just get his own Insurance in his name another salesman began showing the BMW to another customer RIGHT while were sitting there. He checked online the very next day only to discover that the car was no longer available. SO dissatisfied and disappointing.

I was not familiar with CarMax and didn't know what to expect when we arrived. I hate buying cars from dealers in part because you can hardly pull onto the lot without several of the salesmen trying to converge on you before you get out of your car asking you what you want your payments to be. I had been to the local Nissan dealer and the told them what I would pay for their vehicle and of course they have to go through several layers of sales managers to counter with something else. I pulled into the CarMax lot and saw that I was being channeled through their building to enter the lot where the cars were parked. I was apprehensive but went through the building and onto the lot without a salesperson pouncing on me. My wife and I were able to look at a variety of different makes and models of vehicle and then we noticed all the cars were unlocked and much to our delight we were able to sit in the vehicles and gauge how much head room, leg room and space was in the back for our children. We changed our mind from an SUV to a sedan based on our time being allowed to shop on the lot and compare cars. We searched on their website as we narrowed down what we wanted and then had a free transfer of the car arranged in the color my wife wanted. We were advised of what to expect and when the car would arrive. I was absolutely impressed from start to finish with the business model used by CarMax and will absolutely buy my next several cars from them. I don't recommend many businesses, but I would definitely recommend CarMax, unless you just enjoy the hassle of typical car dealers and the games they play.

My initial experience was great! I requested a transfer of the vehicle in which I was interested. When it landed in the store I received not 1 but 3 calls letting me know it was there and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Reception in store was prompt and I was brought out to that vehicle immediately. Salesperson was young but friendly enough. I test drove and gave the vehicle a thorough check, noting some minor scratches, no big deal. Also noted were some water drip stains that I was told would come right out before I brought the vehicle home. I was also told a front plate bracket would be put on for me. When all was said and done, less than 2 hours later (GREAT time for the purchase of a vehicle, including a satisfactory offer on my trade) the water marks were still on my new vehicle, along with some new scratches near the rear and on the d/s taillight. I pointed this out and asked for a resolution. The manager insisted that the taillight scratches were already there and the water stains were hard water etching. As someone who works in the auto industry, part of my job - what I get paid to do - is inspecting vehicles and noting scratches and the like. I know what I did and did not see on this vehicle. It was offered that I would be called to set up an appointment to get the car buffed and hopefully lessen the appearance of this hard water etching. I have yet to receive said phone call. I purchased the car on August 3rd. It is now September 18th. Also, no plate bracket was ever put on. Knowing that I overpaid for this vehicle (didn’t care, loved the color!) and thinking that somehow some semblance of customer service may make up for that was so foolish on my part. I would not EVER recommend CarMax unless it was to someone I didn’t care about due to an overall disappointing experience that lingers long after the transaction is over.

Almost too easy to shop thru the app. Was looking for a very specific vehicle and found only one, two states away. Easily requested to have it shipped locally for a nominal fee. I traveled 3 hours just to buy a car and it was worth it. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 start is because the finicing option was not a good one for me. They offered an incredibly high (in the double digits) APR rate where as my local credit union was nearly 10 points less. I would suggest people at least look into outside financing options. Went for a quote on selling my truck. 2017 Sierra 1500 SLT crew loaded with 5300 miles. The salesperson ran the quote and it took about a half hour. Reasonable time in my opinion. While waiting for the official numbers he walked me through the KBB and Edmunds values online. Estimated value was amost 41.5k on both sites. Then their offer rolled in....36k. When I challenged them on their low quote and, in my opinion, clear deceitful exclusion of features and options as listed on the vehicles window sticker, I was advised the plow mount professionally installed by GM was "frame damage" and significantly impacted the value. I was also advised that them checking "tow package" on the quote is the same as the Max Trailering package. It is not. The Max Trailering pkg is a healthy upgrade from just adding a hitch to the back. Typical games. Will go back to Grappone next week as their offer was $4k more. Yes. 4 THOUSAND MORE than Carmax. At least Carmax was friendly while trying to take advantage of me. Be educated before you go there for a quote. Be willing to leave. You can do better elsewhere.

Carmax does often have cars with more features and less miles than you might otherwise find for the money. However, that is the only positive thing I can say about the experience. I hit a deer with my previous vehicle, and the insurance company totaled it. They called me on a Saturday to tell me that it was being totaled, how much the check would be, and that I had 9 more days with the rental replacement. So I shopped a bit, and Monday morning I called Carmax to have the vehicle I wanted transferred to the Jackson store, telling them that I would like to close the deal on Wednesday when my wife and I were both off work. On Wednesday I was told that the car would not even be put on the transfer truck until Friday. So I attempted to do business Saturday morning before going to work at 1:30. I was held up a bit by the rental company, but I arrived at the Carmax store at 11:30. Four hours later I was still attempting to prove my physical address. We have no route delivery, and therefore every bill we get has the PO Box on it. I downloaded a copy of my financing statement from Honda, from my previous car, but I paid it off 8 months ago; that was too old. I downloaded a copy of my homeowner's policy with the physical address on it, but that was not on their list of "approved documents." Eventually, my wife had to drive back early from her family vacation to sign documents, because we had ONE bill with her name and the physical address available. It was after 5 o'clock when I left, and I was four hours late to work. Five days later, the external temperature reading showed -40 degrees, and the A/C stopped working. Carmax offers a 30 day no lemon policy, during which everything is covered. So I called and was initially told that I could take it to my local dealer for service, but after their warranty department referred me back to the dealer because I had not purchased an extended warranty, they told me I would have to bring it back to the purchase location, because it had no extended warranty and was no longer under manufacturer's warranty. I decided to let my local dealer look at it anyway, and was informed by them that it was, in fact, still under the manufacturer's original 36/36 all inclusive warranty. After repairing it and ordering a new remote to replace the faulty one Carmax gave me, they also informed me that someone had been under the hood attempting to modify it. The sensor had been disconnected, and there was no physical way for it to become disconnected without human interference. Today, 19 days after the purchase, I received 4 letters telling me I had been rejected for financing (one of which said it was for insufficient down payment, even though I gave $11000 down on a $14000 car), and one statement showing first payment due. I suspected the rejection letters were auto-generated during the hours of attempting to prove my address, but as they were mailed 10 days after the purchase I decided to call and verify. Carmax referred me to the 1-800 number for their financing center. Twice, the automated system at that number told me that I should call back during business hours, even though the statement and their website said their business hours were 8AM to 10PM M-F (this call was at 4:50PM on a Thursday). I then looked for their website to find another number that a person might answer, but the numbers on their website just went back to the dealer, who told me the 1-800 number was the only one. Eventually with my wife and I both calling on different phones, we were able to get an agent on the phone to verify that we did in fact have a loan, and to change our mailing address to the PO box so the statements would not continue arriving two weeks late. Thankfully the first payment is not due for another month, so we are not late on that... All in all, the experience was thoroughly maddening, and my wife and I have decided we will not do business with Carmax of Jackson again. If you choose to go there, I would recommend that you have cash in hand to purchase your vehicle outright.

Sold them a Cruze and got a fair price. Very happy with that. Was sold a lemon though when I bought a car from them. After I signed paperwork on car, they found issues while fueling it. I never got to drive it off the lot that day. They gave me a loaner. Loaner had a leaking tire that they overfilled. Five trips from Ft. Wayne to Indy and three ordeal of them taking much too long to fix my car, and then replace fuel door with wrong color door. Sales manager Ryan was great. Ended up finding out the car I bought has serious alignment issues from prior damage and returned the car due to it being a headache from the start. They did take it back, although I had to call corporate for them to cut me a check within two days as they promised, and then tried to get me to wait two weeks. Six trips to Indy and back and a major headache. But they did give me loaners and they stand behind their return guarantee. Test drive is way too short and very predictable. Salesman admitted he was more interested in going home to his girlfriend then selling me a car. Ask to take cars on highway, and take car to mechanic before purchasing.

I found damage to the interior of a vehicle. The manager had it repaired, but it was not performed correctly and looks bad. Also, tires obviously needed to be replaced, and the manager refused to take care of the problems. Chunks of rubber are falling off of them, but their "service" department manager said it was just cosmetic. They refused to alter the price. I know CarMax doesn't bargain, but this was two issues that should have been taken care of or compensated for. Wouldn't have purchased if I could have found a similar vehicle in the Jackson area, wouldn't go back to this location, and likely won't visit a different CarMax either.

Ken got the appraisal process started and then we went out on the lot. I didn't find the car I wanted but they had a nice selection. I liked that I could sit in any car and see a variety of makes and models all at once. I didn't have to wait for someone to go get the keys. I left with the CarMax offer to buy my car. Carmax sold me a car blue book value that had previously be in a hail storm. I didn’t find this out until my car got hit with hail damage and I filed my claim with my insurance company. Geico pulled up the previous claim. The car fax Carmax provided me with didn’t show anything wrong with the car. My wife and I purchased a car at the Jackson location April 21, 2016. We were very satisfied at first. We have both bought cars their in the past. Her last car, which we traded in that day was purchased under her maiden name. We have since married although the sales staff and final paperwork office lady? insisted we did not have to change her name off any of the paperwork seeing as how she was already in the system. Seemed that problem was taken care of. We discovered when we got home that we had left my wife's art portfolio in the trunk. We immediately called them and told them the issue...seeing as how we just left a simple opening of the trunk and we could have come back. No such luck. I'm writing this post today on May 3 to inform that they have thrown it away after two weeks of ducking our calls. However they were not too busy too hound my wife all last week at work to tell them the paperwork had been done incorrectly (weird) and that she would have to come back up there and be "resold" the car....not kidding they literally took the car from her , rewashed it, and re-presented it as a new car....All of this stemming from them not wanting and insisting the name change was not a big deal. So in summation thanks Carmax for wasting our time and throwing away something that could have easily been retrieved.

I totaled my 2011 Nissan Altima so I needed to look for a new car. I found a 2017 Kia Sorento on the website and put it on hold. I did the financing online. Ken called me within a few hours to let me know that i was approved and what documents I needed to bring in. I went in a few days later to test drive. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I love there no hassle/no pressure approach! Ken was with another customer so we went to look around the lot. I found a few other cars I wanted to test drive. Ken finished up the his customer and hour or so later. We test drove the few cars, I decided on one and finished the process within 45 minutes. He was very personable and gave excellent advise! Highly recommended. Unfortunately I had to bring the car back in for service on Tuesday. We walked in and couldn’t really find that one perfect Mazda 3 I was hoping to see, but on our way out their saleswoman, Benita, approached us. She asked what we were looking for, I told her what I was trying to find and mentioned that I’m not gonna buy for another few weeks so I can’t always stop by another time and see what new they got. They gave me maximum trade in value for my old beater and got me an awesome deal on a basically brand new car. My salesperson Dricka was amazing she gave me her personal phone number and was in constant communication about what cars I was looking at and had my cars all set for me and cleaned when I was ready to purchase. I also never expected to be eligible for any financing because I knew I had bad credit but they were able to make it work with a fair price and interest rate. There is simply no other place to ever buy a car. The salespeople are commissioned in a way that allows them to be honest and focus on right fitting the customer with the car that will best suit them and meet their needs. I came in with a list of about 60 cars to look at and over the course of my first visit I had it down to four. I came back the following day with a slightly higher budget and knew some other cars in my price range and settled on one of those nearly immediately. Thanks again CarMax and know you have a new customer for life. I brought my girlfriend who bought her car at a dealership years ago and she was sad she hadn't shopped at CarMax instead!!

THEY PULLED A BAIT-AND-SWITCH ON ME! UPDATE: It's now been two weeks since I returned the vehicle, and twelve business days since I "bought" the vehicle, and I still don't have any of my money back. When I bought the vehicle, I gave them the insurance-company check from my previous vehicle (a total-loss), but only used part of it as a down-payment, since they told me "this happens all the time, and they'll send you the remainder in 7 to 10 business days, but you usually get it in about a week." Twelve business days later and I still don't have ANY money back. I called yesterday and was told, "I should have all of [my] money back by next Monday." So, almost 3 weeks after buying the car, and two-and-a-half weeks after returning the vehicle, I "SHOULD" have my money back. We'll see! Lesson to be learned: if you do buy a car from Carmax, and return it in the seven days, DO NOT leave the dealership without a check in hand! ORIGINAL POST: I found the car I wanted and asked them to transfer it from Maple Shade, NJ (an hour away) on a Thursday. The car FINALLY arrived the next Tuesday. I took it for a test-drive, liked it, and told them I wanted to buy it. But, during the test-drive, we found a burned-out turn-signal bulb (the turn-signal was beeping/blinking repeatedly fast instead of the normal steady beeping/blinking). They told me they would have the problem fixed while we did the paperwork. Two hours later, I've given them my down-payment, the paper-work is done, the car is mine, but the bulb is not yet fixed - "a part has to be ordered", so I can't take it home. Two days later, the part finally arrives, but that doesn't fix the issue (how hard is it to fix a burned out bulb?!?), so the vehicle now needs to go to a "tier-two repair shop", and won't be ready for who knows how long. "Buuuut, in the meantime, we have this other vehicle that's identical to yours but has 9,000 less miles (and it's a different color), but it's a $1,000 more." I asked them to match the price of the car I already bought, but they said they couldn't do that. So, I cancelled the purchase. What's odd is that they didn't put up any resistance (trying to talk me out of it, trying to offer other solutions, etc.) when I told them I wanted to cancel the purchase. They immediately said OK. The other odd thing is that the car they were trying to sell me as a replacement was not, and still is not, listed anywhere (any location nation-wide) on their web-site. Luckily, I did find the same vehicle at a local dealership - it had 5,000 more miles, same exact features, AND was priced $2,300 less. Unfortunately, because CARMAX had my down-payment money, I had to finance the whole amount - if I had my down-payment back from CARMAX, I could have gotten a V6 instead of the I4 I ended up with. And, it's now been just over a week since I returned the vehicle, and I still don't have my down-payment back. Although many of my co-workers and friends recommended CARMAX, I will NEVER use them again, and will recommend NOT using them to everyone going forward.

Worst place to go ..... seen I car I wanted and got approved to get it ask to do paperwork before we paid to ship it which cost 549 .. said I couldn't do it till it get there ..but told me everything set in stone to get it ...with being told that I decided to get rid of a couple cars out my drive ... wait 3 weeks for car to come finally get here bring check stubs they say they couldn't use those so I had both my jobs email them . There was something wrong with them when they email so I talk to both my gm at my jobs to get it right .. sent it perfectly like they wanted then they said they couldn't use them couse it wasnt off the job website which neither my job offer then ask for bank statement witch I told the guy when I first met him I had a pay card but I went back and forth with the pay card company to finally to alease fax me a bank statement that cost me 42 dollars jus for them to tell me they couldn't use dem cause it was printed thier website ...felt so emotionally down never heard of a place ask for pay stub and bank statement to me sure I received the money I say I made felt like I was treated this way couse i was black and they felt like i didnt make the money legally I'm a hard working American jus like them shouldn't judge someone how they dress and talk ..wasted my whole summer and now i stuck without a car

This is my second time buying a car from Carmax and this experience was even more pleasant than the first time. I went into the store knowing what car I wanted. There were no representatives free at the moment so the Hostess/Receptionist worked up my application. By that time, a Rep was available and assigned to assist me. So, initially I started online, comparing cars. It felt aimless until I remembered how easy it'd been purchasing two other vehicles from Carmax. So, I went to their website and accidentally signed up for a test drive at one of their locations an hour away. Whoops, so I called the local dealership and they remedied the situation and had it rerouted to their location. I still was antsy to drive something right then (my current car was on its last wheels) and so they said I could come down and drive something very similar that day. So, I did. I loved it. I waited for the other vehicle to show up, a long week, and drove that later. I liked it but decided on the first one after all. They didn't make me feel like I'd inconvenienced them with the whole car shipping that I didn't buy and I didn't have to pay for it to get there. Now, Love the car but the experience was slightly less awesome when visiting on the weekend. One of the women was clearly experienced and she was excellent but occupied, so we got some trainees. Luckily, they were friendly but accompanied us on the drive and had very little knowledge. The car sold itself though and I wasn't ever concerned about my poor skills at haggling. It's very clear what the price is. I would suggest visiting during the week if possible or call when it's not busy to get a slot on the weekend. We went there Saturday afternoon and it was BUSY. The second time we test drove (the car we ordered and then the first one again), the more experienced sales woman helped us and sent us out on our own. That was preferable. Overall, I trust the place and when I asked my mechanic where to go, he suggested Carmax, He trusted it would be a sound vehicle. Otherwise, he suggested I bring in any possible car to get checked out before purchasing. So, great job Carmax! I recommend them highly.

The last time I signed my name to a vehicle purchase agreement was roughly 20 years ago. The 2000 Ford Explorer I’ve been driving for the past 15 years has served me very well. However, at nearly 250,000 miles, although it was - and still is - running well, I figured It would be better to be proactive instead of reactive about securing another vehicle. After being approved for a car loan through a credit union, I was discouraged to find that anything I would’ve wanted to purchase would’ve been either out of my price range or too old or had too many miles to be approved. However, it was actually my loan officer who mentioned CarMax. I had heard of CarMax, but was not familiar with how they operate. However, in investigating their practices, I was delighted to learn the lengths to which they go to ensure that they are selling quality vehicles to their customers. I was thrilled to learn that a vehicle which met all the non-negotiable elements of my dream car wish list was not only within reach, but at an interest rate 5 percentage points lower than that offered by my credit union for the same term!! Even better, I was also able to secure an extended vehicle warranty to cover my new-to-me car for four years or up to 150,000 miles!!! I anticipate that the lovely car I just bought will serve me well for many years. However, I can say with certainty that, following my experience at CarMax, they will definitely be at the top of my list as a car retailer the next time I am in need of a vehicle!!!

We had a scheduled appointment to bring back our newly purchased truck to have the windshield replaced. Nothing was done the day of the appointment. No excuse was given as to why nothing was done. Day 2 which was a Friday they called at 2pm to say they didn't have the correct tinted windshield but a plain one was that ok? No we wanted what was there. Since it was Friday afternoon it now wasn't going to be done until Monday. They will call when it was ready they said. Never received a call my husband stopped by and they said it was just finished. We were without our vehicle for 5 days. Next we had another scheduled appointment to have leather seats installed. Again it was a scheduled early appointment. First thing Monday morning. Supposed to be a 2 day job. Here we go again. Stopped by on Tuesday....they said it just went out on Tuesday we brought it in on Monday. Stopped by on Wednesday because now we know that you have to keep on top of them. We were told by Thursday 3pm it would be done. Never got a call....surprise. stopped Friday morning around 10 truck was ready but never got a call. Again without our vehicle for 4 days.

The process did take a number of hours, but there's a lot of paperwork and my situation was somewhat unique so I didn't hold that against them. My experience has been up and down so far. I like the car I purchased 2015 Buick Enclave,and the price. Did not get much info on the car and the electronics inside but have worked to figure it out. Asked about getting a second Key fob at the time I purchased and was led to believe I could come in and get it when the lock person was there. I gave them 2 with the 17 yr old car I traded in. seems like I could have gotten 2 with the 2015 I bought. I went back to find out it will cost me over $100. Also, after 10 days of owning the car the battery went dead and left my wife stranded. Good news is that they replaced the battery on the car for free. So it has been up and down. Hopefully we stay on the up side. Just not happy about the second key fob but happy with the vehicle so far.

I purchased a vehicle on 09/11/2017 and seven days later the check engine light comes on I explain my concern to return the vehicle but because it was over five days i am stuck with the car .Everyone from sales to maintenance is telling me its a gas cap (really ) so i bring the car and of course i am told all the tires have different air pressure and it maybe the gas cap caused the check engine light to come on. I personally feel because i am woman i am being told anything and bamboozled into keeping a vehicle that will only give me problems. My car was worth at least 800 minimum, it had 210k and a lot of scratches and wasnt running, but it just needed a new battery and was worth at least 5000 in perfect condition. They offered me 300, which I took because I kind of had to (no where to park car over winter, have a limited number of free tows..) but still, a week later I feel very ripped off and regret selling the car to them when I could have put a new battery in it and got at least 800 for it. Overall will never ever ever ever ever be going back to carmax. I liked the sales guy tho, he was cool and very nice, but knew in my situation he could basically offer me anything and I'd agree.. so he low balled me and probably sold it for 1000 at least. The place is nice looking but it just feels shady like all the other car places, no matter how clean- you know they're making money off u .

Buying a car here? Sure. Afterwards? No. They will not get you setup in a car afterwards. Engine issues after a year? Their plan? Yeah enjoy going across the road to the dealership which will be $50 more on the deductible at $300 total. In point, just go to a dealer directly where they will at least give you a dang car that fits if you're a taller driver. I am beyond outraged! Plus don't expect a call or email from them!

I would've liked it all that much more if CarMax put the inspection sticker on the car that matched my birth month instead of just a random one. Great! Easy! And less anxiety than I have ever experienced before. Car buying is fun but it is burdensome at many of the traditional dealerships. CarMax is different but still provides quality and professional salespeople. There are a lot of vehicles to choose from and if you have done your homework you can have a car transferred in for free (depending on distance). It took longer than expected but not nearly as long as much time as it would if we had purchased through a traditional dealership. My only suggestion - get better coffee!!!

While visiting from out of town during the Thanksgiving holiday, we decided to take advantage of test-driving many different vehicles in one location (not even realizing what an easy system CarMax has for doing so). The experience was so great (NO pressure, extremely knowledgeable staff who actually listened), we knew we wanted to make our purchase here. We did some research, test-drove a few additional vehicles the following day and made our decision. Since the exact vehicle (features & mileage) we wanted was not available in Jackson, one was located and arrangements were made to have it shipped to this location. We returned a week later, test drove and inspected the vehicle, signed the papers (during the final detailing) and were finished in less than 2 hours. Bought a 2017 chevy impala dec. 22. Brought it back because of the engine light on plus hesitation when accelerate. Got a loaner, had to bring it back for a key problem. Long story short third LOANER WOULD NOT START IN DRIVE THRU, Got YELLED AT BY SOMEBODY TO MOVE HAd TO GET CAR TOWED! I had to call my daughter to pick me up. Do not shop for a car here if you're an educated buyer. They will act bewildered when you show up with an independent 3rd party mechanic/inspector. The particular vehicle I was looking for was off-lease which should've sold as a pre-owned by the manufacturer but somehow ended in CarMax's lot (I assume via auction). For my own peace of mind, I wanted to get an expert appraisal on the car. They turned him away and I am out $160.

The car buying experience was easy and the customer service was great, however I was having issues with my vehicle and I had to take it back 3 times only to get the same results of not being fixed. All of this took place within 3 weeks of having my vehicle. I took my car to a Nissan dealership and they checked it right then and there and told me what the problem was. I was having rear end problems and and when Nissan pulled up the vehicle information they seen a recall that car max MYSTERIOUSLY missed....hmmmm. Car max told me that there was a mud flap that came undone (this was the 3rd lie). In the end I'm just glad that my vehicle was still under warranty and that Nissan took care of me. I will never buy another vehicle there.

I had the greatest and most patient salesman, Jerry Donald, he was an awesome guy. I had a transfer of 2011 Toyota Camry SE from Memphis store, but they failed to do the full inspection correctly and after my purchase, I had a blowout. CarMax store in Jackson took every precaution and made sure I was placed in a loaner vehicle until mine was fixed. They ordered me four new tires and made sure all was taken care of for me. The staff in the service department was patient and very courteous to me even though I was very irritated and disappointed, but it was not their fault. I admire their service and kindness, especially Phoenicia who made regular courtesy calls to make sure loaner vehicle was okay for me. I gave four stars because my TPMS sensor messed up and they installed a new one, but I called Saturday to report it, but they were closed and my 30 day warranty was still in affect, but that Monday i was told it was nothing they could do without me paying, but overall they are great.

The experience overall was great. Quick and easy. The only complaint about Carmax is their phone system and trying to reach someone by their automated system. Service department was fast when getting an accessory added to our new car. Having a car transferred is a little slow and there's no way to track the vehicle once it is scheduled to transfer. It was nearly 2 1/2 weeks after going in to transfer the car and do preliminary paperwork before we were able to go test drive and purchase. Wish that could've been a little speedier.

I bought this truck from Carmax in Baton Rouge . It was shipped from Texas. The sales people were great . The truck arrived on time. I didn’t have any problems with the truck until I went in for an oil change to the Ford dealership. The guy that was doing the oil change pointed out that I had this damage under my truck. Hadn’t it three months yet . Not only that . I had to buy a battery ends , a battery , and a front end alignment. I bought a 37,000 dollar truck from carmax in Baton Rouge . Went in for an oil change at the Ford Dealership in Metairie, La for an oil change and ended up spending 500 dollars on a truck I hadn’t had three Months with 32000 miles on it . I instantly set up an appointment with carmax . The service rep said I did the damage. But he couldn’t confirm if they checked under the truck or not this damage. The manager came out . And I explained to him what happened . He said that Ford ripped me off and insisted that nothing was wrong with the truck . But no one could confirm whether or not they looked the bottom of this truck for this damage. The offered to give me a free front end alignment. But what was the point. I just paid for one at the ford dealership. I feel ripped off and upset . Maxcare doesn’t cover the problem. So now I’m stuck with a new truck that I have to put money in to get my front end fixed . I didn’t serve my country to come home and be ripped off by big businesses in America .

Amazing Experience, We drove from Texas to Jackson Mississippi to buy the car we wanted and had called ahead of time and spoke with Webb. Very professional and took care of the preliminary (application, financing etc,...) before we drove 6 hours. He was going to leave before we got there but handed the transaction to another seasoned salesman by the name of Lee. Lee was humble yet professional and friendly. When we got there after driving 6 hours, he greeted us with a smile and took care of everything in about an hour and we left satisfied with the car we wanted. Great team at Carmax Mississippi! This is our third car from Carmax. Oh and since they knew we were from out of town, David who was also assisting Lee recommended a Hotel to stay in and made sure to point out that his family stays there. I have used CarMax before in Texas and loved the no haggling aspect. Again, I was so pleased with the whole experience. I went with a certain car in mind and when I wasn't happy with that one our sales person suggested another car in the same price range. Of course, I loved it and the deal was done quickly. After getting home I realized that there was not an owner's manual in the car. Upon calling CarMax I was told that if I bought one and brought in the receipt, that I would be reimbursed. Since I live out of town I mailed the receipt and was actually called to say they were processing my request! A check came in the mail the next week. amazing customer service in my opinion.

Had a terrible experience with this dealership. After purchasing our vehicle, it would not pass inspection. The brake pads had almost nothing left, despite the vehicle having only 16,000 miles and “certified” by CarMax. Then, the front bumper developed a crack that they have yet to do anything about, despite the fact that the vehicle is well within the 30-day warranty. My car BUYING experience was great! My sales consultant Bill Smith was above and beyond friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful!! The office associate Tenisha Bogan was cheerful and finished the deal professionally and quickly! UNFORTUNATELY, that is where the pleasant experience ENDED!!! I had an issue that SHOULD have been corrected in the "SUPPOSED" recertification process. I did not notice the day I bought the car that the driver's door was badly out of alignment. I drove almost 200 miles back to the store the next business day thinking that someone could at least look at my problem BUT, NO-ONE would even go out to look at the car!! All the so called "service advisor" would do (and this seemed to be ALL she could say) was to "make an appointment" that was over a week and a half away!! The hell with that!! I left, went home and took the car to a body shop in my home town and got it fixed myself!! FIRST AND LAST CarMax deal!!!!

Over the years my husband and I have purchased over 12 cars. This has been the best time-saving experience ever. We were able to search their website for months for the car that we wanted, without being hassled to purchase a car that didn’t work for us. As soon as we found the car we (I) wanted, I requested a transfer. Within 1 hour I received a call from the local salesman. He called me to confirm the transfer, stated they would request a walk- around and transfer if no issues. This all took place on a Tuesday, the salesman stayed in contact with me by phone and email to keep me posted on where the car was. I did the finance through my credit union. So I can’t speak on that part. By Friday of the same week, my car had arrived. I went in to do a test drive. Everyone was kind and professional. Several people approached me to be sure I was being helped while I waited for my saleman to come get me from the waiting area. I was finished with signing paperwork and purchased my car within 1 hour. The next day I had a misunderstanding about something that was completely my misunderstanding. I called and spoke with the manager on duty and he was very kind and professional and worked to solve what I thought was a problem immediately. A couple days later which was a Sunday I realized what my misunderstanding was and was able to contact the saleman to apologize for my misunderstanding. Their main concern was me getting the car that I wanted. I am completely satisfied. The only suggestion I would make to improve service would be cleaning of the car. Focus on windows and inside the door panels. Also not sure if oil was really changed, my car had 37% oil life left when I purchased it.

For the most part it was great, prepping the vehicle was a little less great. My salesman was great in setting it up. While there everyone was wonderful. However, I had to make a return trip a few days later with the vehicle, there were somethings that should have easily been seen if they did the checks like they said they do. I know how it is, I have that nonsense in my work world as well. Whenever, your customer gets anything less than a faultless event, then it's a fail. Even my return visit was kind of a fail. I had to miss a days work and drive about 3 hours round trip, I asked if the they would at least fill the tank and they said no but we do wash your vehicle on every visit. I said okay, but ask about the fuel anyway. I never got a full tank nor was my vehicle washed? How would you rate this service?

Lackluster sales assistance, and misleading information. Brought a car in for me to meet the specific type I wanted...and they said it had no scratches, dings, etc and a clean history. Yet, the passenger side had scrapes all the way down, gouges out of the plastic and side mirror, and bad paint touch-ups. It clearly also had been bumped or hit, because the doors didn't fit the same, the gaps were off, and for instance, the driver's side door stuck out slightly, which usually is a tell-tale sign. The salesperson played it off and said it all was normal. However, for the premium CarMax prices, l expect better. After no follow-up, I went elsewhere.

I tried buying a car at several local dealers including Koons Lexus and Porter used, Price Toyota. Got the usual game playing ...Price even lured me in with a car they did not have. I went to car Max found the car I wanted got a great trade in valuation and low finance rates easily and fairly quickly. I didnt expect to get the best experience at car max but they Suprised me. The car delivery process could have been faster ...took about 2 hours but overall super experience. The ability to shop cars from multiple locations and have the one you want shipped in was awesome. Most ship in for free.. I'm reducing my rating to 3 stars as I still don't have my registration and it has been a month. I called and found out it was not even sent to DMV until 12 days after I bought the car. Not acceptable.

The salesperson was very helpful and tolerated letting us test drive several vehicles while we decided on a make and model. When we narrowed our choices we asked about vehicle history and the warranty offered for the vehicles. The salesperson was very sly about transitioning into talking about their extended warranty (which is not included in the vehicles purchase price) while avoiding making it obvious that it was not included. That was not the warranty I was asking about and she didn't bother to tell us it's wasn't free until I asked how much it was going to cost us. We discussed financing and then took some time to review our choices one last time before deciding on a vehicle. We had done some online research after test driving and again after discussing financing and came to the conclusion that both of the vehicles we were interested in were $1000+ more than the going rate for their year, make, and model. We told the salesperson we were ready to buy but we were unwilling to pay the sticker price. We asked what they could do for us on the price to secure the sale. Despite their claim of "no-haggle pricing" (they word it like it's a favor to the customer that they are rigid with their prices), I know that they do in fact have some wiggle room with the cost of their vehicles. The sales person informed us that they do not negotiate and then referred us to a manager who reiterated that they do not negotiate. Unfortunately, we decided to walk away from that purchase because they refused to consider giving us a better price. Fortunately, we found options at other dealerships. Toyotaworld had two models two years newer for the $1000 cheaper and Porter had a model two years newer, $2000 cheaper with a quarter the miles. Needless to say, we purchased from another dealer and got a better vehicle.

I highly recommend Carmax. The experience is completely transparent, friendly staff and excellent service from start to finish. The process was seamless and took a fraction of time compared to traditional dealerships. The prices of the vehicles were comparable to market and in some cases lower. The financing options are up to 7 year and rates are market rates. Carmax also offers extended warranties at low cost. You also get a 7 day trial with your new car and you can return it if you’re unhappy for any reason. I worked with Ana as my sales rep and she was excellent! She communicated promptly and answered all my questions in a timely manner. I also worked with Leah in service and she was also very helpful and responsive. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because I thought the detailing of the interior of the car was lackluster. Nothing against the experience, only constructive criticism here. Overall, I am happy customer and will consider Carmax for next vehicle.

I wish I NEVER brought my car from carmax. You would think they would service your vehicle properly beings it came from them, NOPE. I took my Buick in for a oil change and because the service airbag light was coming up on my car. I also told them for the past week my car hasnt been wanting to start. I told them i took my car to Advanced Auto Parts and they did a FREE battery and starter check and said it could be the starter. The mechanic at carmax said nope it's probably the battery. Meanwhile, my check engine light was on (I didnt think anything of it because I was getting my car serviced). Now other places I've been to do a complete inspect of your vehicle. If you go in for a oil change, they let you know if they find any other issues with your vehicle. NOT CARMAX. They do exactly what you tell them to do any NOTHING more. Needless to say, I left with a new battery, airbag issue not fixed (needed ANOTHER appointment for that), car still having issues starting, and check engine light still on. Waist of time and money!!!! I only gave 2 stars because the buying experience was awesome!!!

This was about as easy as buying a car could get. I had a pretty good Ida of what I wanted, so I was able to quickly test drive a few models from the start. Once I decided, they were able to buy my current car form me at a fair amount considering its condition. Then I was able to get financing fairly easily at a better-than-expected rate. All in all, I was able to go from a car shopper to a car purchaser in less than 2.5 hours, which seems pretty miraculous to friends of mine who've bought cars elsewhere. i searched online, located the least expensive car on the lot, put a hold on it, and got a ride from a friend in the late afternoon, ready to purchase with cash. The sales crew accommodated my request to waive a test drive and expedite the purchase of a 2010 Hyundai Accent with 104K miles, which they completed within the hour. I managed to remember how to drive a stick in rush hour Northside/Carmel construction traffic, only to find myself downtown without knowing how the lockout for Reverse worked. I called my salesman, he explained the trick and I was happily driving again. Within two weeks the ignition coil began to fail, I took the car back and they fixed it quickly without cost. If you're a no-nonsense shopper who need dependable transportation, CarMax is the place to go.

The Sales and Business departments are wonderful. They get 5 stars. My sales consultant gave me hints on all the things that were broken with the vehicle. One wheel had a crack in the rim, the sunshade was broken, and one of the remote was defective. These 3 items should have been caught by the CarMax Quality Certified 129 point inspection check and fixed by the Service department. The service people are not very friendly. The service department recommended I bring the vehicle to another shop for the crack in the wheel. The service department also wouldn't look at repairing the sunshade right away, because, as they shared with me it takes a lot of work. My biggest mistake was not asking for the repairs to be completed before taking possession of the vehicle. The vehicle I am supposed to be enjoying has now been with the service department for 2 weeks with no ETA. This is my second CarMax purchase. Each time I declined purchasing the CarMax Service agreement because of how cold and mean the people in the service department are. I think the older guy is the only nice guy in the department; he smiles.

Shambolic customer service. Who is in charge of training? My niece spent 3 hours trying buy a car with a dealer who had no idea what he was doing. As she drove away he chased her down with the bill of sale that he forgot to give her. Then when she tried to register her car the next day she realized the dealer still had the application for title and he didn't even have the courtesy to call her. Oh and their call center staff in Atlanta is incredibly rude. I'll never do business with any CarMax again.

I felt the need to update my review from a 2 star to a 4 star based on new experiences with the CarMax in South Portland. About one month ago I purchased a 2011 Volvo C30 R which are relatively difficult vehicles to find. It was in the color I liked and had the mileage I was looking for so I applied to have it transferred from a CarMax near Atlanta Georgia. I completed the transfer process with Evan who was very helpful. Now before they have a vehicle transferred they have the associates at the location that you're transferring the vehicle from due another inspection. I had asked everything I could think of and asked Evan if he could recommend any questions that I should have asked but haven't yet. He recommended asking if anyone had ever smoked in it and I thought that was a great idea as I had forgotten and I am not a smoker myself and normally can't stand the smell. The volvo arrived at the South Portland location approximately 19 days later and they called me to do a test drive which I was excited for. For the rest of my interactions I mostly dealt with Alex who was also very nice and understanding and he brought me out to the volvo to take a look. Upon opening the door I could instantly smell a strong smoke odor which I confirmed with Alex that he could smell it too, but I was already there and I had already paid a massive transfer fee so I figured I might as well test drive it. About 2 minutes into the test drive there was this very loud clunking noise almost to the point where I wasn't sure the car was safe to drive. So in my mind I had paid over $500 to have a vehicle transferred from Georgia to Maine that smelled like smoke and was potentially broken in some way and I think I was understandably upset. However, this CarMax went ahead and waived my transfer fee and installed a new windshield as it turned out the epoxy had worn down on the windshield and that was the source of the clunking. I think this was a fair solution. I have had other issues with the car but nothing major and because I'm within my 30 day warranty they've taken care of me almost no questions asked which I appreciate. I think I was a little unfair to give this place 2 stars as they have consistently taken care of my issues which from what I can tell have been out of their control. I do think I should have been notified of the smoke smell before I was taken to the car as someone had to have noticed it from moving it into the parking lot. I also think that the windshield should have been caught before I test drove it, but it was taken care of and I'm not upset those are just things I would have expected. From what I can tell is that the Georgia CarMax deserves about 1 star but this CarMax deserves its 4/5 stars for basically fixing problems that the other location caused. I have been contacted by their management team so it was nice that they reached out.
