If it wasnt for the nice salesman that had helped us, this review would be 1 star in seatd of 2. For some odd astronomical reason, this dealership requires you to get pre-approved before being able to even test drive thier vehicles. I guess 10 bucks in gas money isnt worth their time especially if you havent been pre approved. So before you walk in ask yourself. Do you want to be taken seriously as soon as you walk in the door? Or after your pre approved for a car? Again the gentlemen that helped us was very nice, but the way they conduct thier buisness isnt going to go well with most customers.

This dealer don't have a courtesy car, If you planning to leave your car and the car have to be for a couple days for them to fixed under warranty of the car be advise to have and extra car for you to move and go to work, specially if you live 45 minutes away from the dealer. Im really disappointed I never going to recommend this dealer. I took my car for a window motor to be fix 2 days ago and they call me and tell me that the part wasn't get there yet and I have to wait another day, I lose a day of my paid check and doctor appointment have to be cancel. I call them and the only words come out of the mouth WAS SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT WE DON'T PROVIDE COURTESY CARS, They fix the problem already with the sorry. My first time buying a car there and the last. A really bad experience.

I absolutely despise car shopping, but recently found myself needing to start this potentially daunting process. After reading glowing online reviews, I decided to give this dealership a try. I had an older model VW that I wanted to trade in because it required more money in unforeseen repairs than the actual value of the car. Already feeling overwhelmed by the upcoming car buying process, and on a VERY tight budget (think: recent college grad), I decided to give them a call with my specific budgetary parameters. I was immediately put at ease by the salesman’s calm, friendly and no BS demeanor. I went into the dealership the very same day and met Stian Jones in person. I can’t sing his praises enough, he is out of this world outstanding. Before I even looked at cars and got attached, he ran my numbers and got me approved for a car loan. This led us in a direction of the kind of car to look at based on what the bank was willing to approve. In my previous experiences at big name dealerships, they try to sell you on a car first and finances come second. Stian actually paid attention to my concerns, gave me several options, but never tried to be pushy. What a breath of fresh air! I ended up going with a newer model, pre-owned Hyundai Sonata and I’m in love. I was able to get an extremely reasonable APR rate, low monthly payments (even though I’m credit challenged), and a newer car with low miles. This experience was everything I could have asked for and more thanks to Stian’s attention to detail, professionalism, and outgoing personality. I was also happy to give my business to a salesman who served our country and a dealer that works with all financial backgrounds. Highly highly recommend!

My husband brought in our Kia for a grinding noise coming from the rear end. He called later and spoke to John and was given an estimate of almost $6000.00. I never thought I'd have to put that much money into my car. Least to say its not something my husband and I can afford. My husband went to pick up the vehicle and pay the diagnosis fee of $125. When he arrived he was greeted by a woman at the desk. He told her about the issue he had with the car. She told him she would look into to it and see if there were any other options available to fix the car. The next day she called and spoke to my husband and told him that the dealer could in fact get our car fixed for us for about $1500. My husband gladly accepted her offer and dropped the car off a few days later. When we went to pick up the car, much to our surprise the bill was even less than quoted! Thank you KIA for all your help. Our vehicle is now fixed and we couldn't be more thankful!!

So my sister in law was leaving to collage and I needed another vehicle. I wanted to get into the rent to own program. Let me Start off with the customer service was not of the best. I stood around waiting for about ten minutes before anyone greeted me. I then waited another five minutes sitting in the waiting area with my newborn and my 19 month old who is very hyper. When they were finally ready to speak to me bill frisky went on to tell me that the vehicle we spoke about over email for the last three days all of the sudden the key had gone missing with a customer. So all I could do was look inside and not even see all the perks of the vehicle. I then went on to ask about other vehicles and bill did not know of anything about the vehicles he was just touching and guessing what each button would do to the car. I was already way to upset and turned off about it. Long story short I ended up coming back the second time to test drive the Chrysler Pacifica there were lights on and it needed an alignment which I told bill about and he said it would be handled(which never was). I came the next day to pick up the vehicle and when I got into the car the check engine light was on and the lights from the day before were on and the alignment wasn't done. So of course I say something and they say they will do it. I eventually get the car (2hours later) and I am driving an hour back home and all the lights come back on. A couple days later the check engine light came back on and I check it and it is found to be my catalytic converter. So here I am with a vehicle who I must put in $450 not including labor and oh wait!! it doesn't stop there it didn't need an alignment the steering angle sensor is going and the part for that alone is $699. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Responding to Ryan's comment below: I called you and it says that your number is out of service. Please Beaware of this place people do not go scam.

In regards to service, never had a good experience here, been a customer for about a year. Been in a few times for routine maintenance, few times for unscheduled service/inspection. Frequently left frustrated at service. Felt like a 2nd class citizen bringing the mazda there. One big issue brings the stars down. Brought the car in for brake service, was charged for brake servicing. Returned the car for brake problems (rattling, rubbing, springs popping off) soon after. Got a free (already paid for anyway) machining of the rotors because apparantly it hadn't been done during the last service. That's shady. Also, cant buy mazda parts from here (tried to buy a spring to fix the brakes myself), but they did direct me to the other mazda dealer, but so does google so no extra points there. Perhaps they are better with Kia? On a positive note, I ran into 2 people who I felt like they genuinely cared and wanted to help, one of them admitted he didn't work there and was just helping out the sales staff but he still left the floor to try to find someone that could help me better. The other gave me his personal number in case I needed a ride while the car was being fixed (2nd time). It's a nice gesture... There seem to be a few good people here, they may have just had issues in the bay, dont know. I tried to think of other positives to bump it to 3 stars but I cannot. I'd have to say I disliked going here.

If the option allowed to post half of a star I would but a sales rep did greet us so that deserves at least 1/2 of a star....I digress. This was the worst car experience in my entire life ! The management, environment and staff not friendly at all. We were told about a specific vehicle on sale but on arrival the sales rep insisted on a credit report before viewing the vehicle. We had the feeling of the bait and switch program was in full effect.... Do yourself a favor and visit the many thousands of car places in the tri state area we did !

I would never ever recommend Kia of old saybrook to anyone not even my worst enemy. Their customer service is well below standard. I traded my Kia Soul in for a new car and still had money on my warranty from my Kia. My husband went in to arrange it and they did 6-8 weeks. Well 8+ weeks later there was no check so I called every day for a week getting the run around about whoever I needed to talk to was on vacation. The second week of calling yield no results since the mythical unicorn Dan was always busy. Finally Dan left a message saying the check will be sent within the next business day. Well I like 20 minutes from Old saybrook and 1 week and a half later guess what no check. Don't do business with these people because if you ever need to speak with them after you drive off the lot they will be far from helpful.

We have purchased 2 cars so far from Kia of Old Saybrook. Recently we had some major damage happen to our car and we dealt with Danielle the service manager. I have to say, we originally brought the car to Executive Kia in Wallingford because it was close to home, and we received horrible customer service. I was a wreck.. As soon as I spoke with Danielle she immediately eased my anxiety with her calm demeanor and reassurance. She was extremely accommodating, I was able to do everything over the phone as we had to have the car towed a distance to their dealership. Both my husband and I were able to trust our car in the hands of Kia of Old Saybrook and we’re both still able to get to our jobs at a reasonable time that day. Danielle also worked miracles the day before 4th of July festivities commenced and got us a rental car that was provided to us for the duration of the time they had the car, which was just under a month! We got our car back and it is driving pristine. Thank you for your all around superior customer service, we appreciate it more than you know! We highly recommend this dealership. Brought my car in Friday for an oil change and left so they could take their time planning to pick it up the next morning. We got a call with a list of things that needed to be done and cost toppled 3k. Some we agreed to and some was obviously bogus. For instance I had the air conditioner serviced and filled 3 oil changes ago at another place and these guys said my AC had a bit of an odor so they wanted to check it out and refill. Stupid things like wipers which are fine and then also my power steering and brake fluid was turning a funny color and needed a flush and fill. The list was crazy and we said no except for the ball joints which I knew were due and an alignment which should have been included. Also to change the oil pan they claimed had a hole, even though I drive it everyday and have never had a spot at all. So I waited until Sat afternoon to call and say, "How much longer?" Only to be told they were gone till Monday. I called Monday morning to say I am on my way to get the car and they informed me the parts hadnt come in. I said well I will come get a loaner so I can go to work and they said they didnt have any. I called back at 1:45 and service said they were done except for the alignment. Ok, so it will be ready before 5? I asked. Yes that would be great she said, It will definately be ready. Here we are at 5:10pm. I have been here an hour, they close at 5 and I am still waiting. I would never use this dealership for anything! The only thing they ate good at is coming up with stories and making you lose a day of work. The only positive is Danielle who is the girl behind the desk is polite and takes the brunt of the negativity for the people who dont seem to know how to run a customer service business. So 5:20 I am driving away and my f'n oil light is on. Really? Now its back in the garage and they are tryimg to figure it out! Stay away from this place!

Don’t get fooled by these reviews. I had a salesman help me out as I’m in the beginning stages of buying a new car. He went over the features of a car I was interested in and then kept asking what car I was looking to buy. He repeatedly did this until I said I’m not looking to buy anything today and asked for his business card. He then rudely handed his card to me and walked away. Definitely will not be coming back here to buy a car in the future.

I worked with Stian Jones and Bill Friskey and I had an amazing experience. I was on a short time crunch to purchase a vehicle. I started the process online using USAA auto buying services. I knew going in what I wanted and Stian took the time to speak with me over the phone before going in so he knew exactly what I wanted. When I arrived, there was a car parked up front waiting for me that fit EVERYTHING I wanted and more. They did not hassle me with price and they went above and beyond to ensure I walked away with a car that fit my needs. I could not be happier with my car buying experience. I have walked away from other dealerships due to poor experiences with the sales staff...that was NOT the case here. As long as the staff remains as helpful and AWESOME as they were this time, I will shop here forever :)

The service manager at Kia of Old Saybrook answered my phone call and did not state her name or express a desire to assist me. I had paid for service the week prior and was calling to ask simple questions regarding this service and future diagnostic work. I was continuously interrupted during the phone call and never had an opportunity to fully explain my questions. The phone call concluded with her hanging up in a very rude manner after I had questioned the service I was receiving. She is an unpleasant person to interact with even in person; do not expect her to greet you with respect. I will not be returning to Kia of Old Saybrook for any reason.

I purchased a used Audi from this dealership a couple of months ago. I wish there was something good that I could say about any aspect of it. The salesman who I originally was working with was mysteriously terminated in the middle of the transaction so I was left dealing with John (JC). There were a couple of mechanical issues that needed to be fixed (gauges not working and drivetrain timing belt) both of which were promised to be taken care of. It took three weeks and two trips there after being promised that it was ready for pickup and delivery only to find out the car was in pieces and being worked on. When I finally got confirmation that the work had been completed and I could come pick it up, it was visually evident to me that the repairs had not been done, the gauges were still inoperable. Because of this deception I was skeptical that the timing belt been replaced and brought it to an Audi dealer to confirm or deny that this part had been replaced, their answer was “no it hadn’t”. That explains why I couldn’t get an invoice for the work completed by the service department when I originally picked the car up. I was given some excuse and all that John could offer me was a hand written note from the service department pertaining to the items replaced. Since then I've been calling the general manager, Ryan who is apparently “the great oz” in an effort to resolve said issues and for two months, with countless telephone messages, he refuses to speak on the matter using his salesman as a messenger. Ryan's (general manager) position on fixing bad relations with a customer is to withhold registering my car which is now parked in my driveway unregistered and undrivable. He talks a good game offering apologies and his personal extension, but trust me you won’t reach him. I first purchased from Kia of Old Saybrook in March of 2018, that purchase was made through their credit building program the vehicle was a 2009 Chevy Equinox with about 120,000 miles. My finance agreement was set for 2 years. During that time I made all my car payments on time along with any other bills that report to my credit history. on 6/18/19 I went back to Kia of Old Saybrook and left with a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with 10,000 miles. I still owed about 2000.00 on the Equinox Kia of Old Saybrook not only paid that off but I also secured this deal with no money down! I said all of this to say this Dealership program that is offered is the truth as long as you do your part with on time payments and maintain your credit and my credit is not perfect it is something that i am currently still working on however, I have been maintaining a 100% on time payment history. I got a coupon in the mail for a $19.95 oil change. I took my B-3000 in and got the oil changed (01/13/2017). The next morning I checked the dipstick and found the oil level was down near the bottom close to the min mark. When I change my own oil and put in the proscribed owner's manual amount (4 1/2 qts) the dipstick level goes to the full mark. Clearly, I was shortchanged by 3/4 qt of oil. Is this how they are paying for the "oil change special" ?

Landon , Ryan and Dan always go out of their way to exceed mine and my wife's expectations and our sales person John is great as well as Corrie and the guys in service. I see some of the recent reviews and can honestly say furthest thing from the truth in our opinion . I can empathize if someone is having a issue however let them fix it and get it handled . We have been buying and serving our cars in Old Saybrook for over 10 years. They also helped my daughter after a divorce a few years ago when she had some pretty aweful credit were they the best terms NO , however no one else had a solution for her and only after we took her to Landon did she get a car that's still running .

I am 18 years old and looking to buy my first car. Today, my mother and I visited the Kia of Old Saybrook dealership and found a 2014 Ford Escape with 30k something miles for around $13,000. I was very interested and went inside for more information. The man who greeted us (I am not sure of his name, but he was an older bald man) introduced himself to my mother, but never even addressed me. My mother quickly told him that the car would be for me, not her, to which he replied, "oh," and gave me a quick glance before going to get the car. He pulled the car up front for us and kept telling my mother how great it was and all of the features it had. My mother said "it's her you have to sell, not me," to which the man became angry and muttered "well, I was." He did not once look me in the eye or address me in any way. I was absolutely appalled at the interaction and his blatant lack of regard for me, despite the fact that my mother reiterated many times that it was not she who was buying the vehicle, but myself. He lost my respect and my money the minute I walked in the door. I went next door to the Jeep dealership and fell in love with a 2017 Ford Escape for $15.5k that I test drove and then bought on the spot. The salespeople were kind and even looked me in the eye! Don't waste your time with rude salespeople who will only address who they deem to be the "adult," and go somewhere that truly values all of their customers as people.

I don't think I will ever come back to this dealership nor would I recommend it to anyone. I went into this place with a trade in that they said multiple times they would give us six grand for. I drove the car I wanted, fell in love, and thought for sure it was mine considering We had already been approved for a loan for enough knowing we would get six thousand for our van. Come Monday when the dealership sent over the agreement they only wrote the trade in as five grand not six. Upon us and our bank seeing this we quickly contacted the office. Not only did I have to call twice and then once to speak to a manager to get a call back but the manager never called. At 8pm I get a phone call from the man we were working with only to be told "sorry but as I said when I spoke to your husband and you that we only wanted to give five but we will do six if that will help." Multiple times we were told six. But I responded with "yes of course we want six because that is what you said and that is what we need for it." He says he'll get back to us the next day because he was g no to try and get us back to six. The next day after leaving messages I still did not hear from him. I called again and said I wanted to speak to a manager or someone again. He then called me back and said he would only give five. I asked him to please shred the check I wrote for a deposit and I hung up. This was so disappointing and really disheartening for me. I was so excited for this car. And then to be lied to.

Refused to help my wife out. Car died this morning with a full battery, not the first time, and there's multiple problems with this issue. The rep acted like she couldn't be bothered, and when the GM got on the phone, the samething happened. The rep actually got loud and yelled at my wife. The car was bought with a bad alignment, due to a stripped cam bolt that wasn't addressed. They put a "band-aid" on the fog lights to get them working before we bought the car since they stopped working days after purchase and it's looking like a bad swithc in the turn stalk. Now this issue with the car dying randomly. Second and last car purchased from this dealership. Update 9/26/18: GM never called back from the first time. Wife called this morning, got treated like garbage again, and the GM hasn't called back yet after 3 hours. Also, looks like it is probably batteries in the keyfob. Really sad that they lost business for a $2 battery.

I'm totally shock but there are laws against people who do this Go to your local DMV if you have had issues with them or anyone who has done this REPORT THEM !! I am from PA, and back in August I test drove a 2017 Kia Sportage in my area. I then went on Kia's website and found a certified pre-owned exact model I wanted at Kia of Old Saybrook. I corresponded via email with their associate, Stian Jones, who was professional, prompt at getting back to me, and able to answer my questions. I was able to put a deposit down on the car, and then I took a train to Old Saybrook to check out the car. The dealership picked up up at the station (only about 2 miles away) in my soon-to-be new car! The price of the car was perfect - there was no need to haggle or anything. The dealership was even able to get me better financing than my own bank. Before I knew it, the car was mine. The only snag that occurred was most likely no fault of the dealership. They set up to have my car registered in PA and my plate sent to me. However, the plate did not arrive until a day after my temporary tag expired. This meant I had to park my car in a city garage for a day since I did not have a license plate. I attribute this problem likely from the redtape of the DMV. Overall, I had a great experience with the team at Kia Old Saybrook and enjoy my new Sportage.

My sister in law purchased a car from this dealership and they had terrible customer service. After they had put the price up from what they originally said it was, there was multiple problems with the car that's going to end up costing my sister in law about $2,000 to fix. Now, she has a car that can barely run and smells highly of gas fumes. She has two small children as well, and needed a working car. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here, the car they sold her is dangerous to drive in.

I’m usually not one to point out the negatives of a bad situation, but after spending nearly $30,000 on a 2016 Chevy Silverado I would expect a little more basic inspections prior to sale. The first week I had to take it back because of pulsating brakes. All four rotors needed machines down and front breaks replaced. Then I had to purchase a shampoo to try to get rid of the old dog smell. After that I checked the cabin filter only to find that it probably hadn’t been changed since the previous owner got the truck (probably cause of the 4 hex screws to remove lower glove box in order to get to it). All that nasty odor probably over a cheap $10 filter. Like I said, you’d expect a little more. Next is an oil change since I can’t rely on whether or not they just reset the oil indicator.

The guy at the counter seemed afraid of me. I'm a 67 year old grampa with 4 grand babies! I depend on the dealership to tell me what I need, but I left not knowing if I needed brakes or not. PLEASE YOUR THE PROFESSIONALS. I had to take the car in for a second opinion and fix the brakes. Sorry Kia, not sure we will be back.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to both Fran & JC!! I have AWFUL credit due to medical bills & divorce, so I'd bought a junk Jeep at a shady car lot. When the amount of repairs became overwhelming & I still owed two car payments, I was in a massive bind. I began applying for car loans EVERYWHERE! I was turned down by 9 places before I received an email from Fran who told me I was already approved!! Kia value is definitely there, it's worth taking a look and comparing it to the big names. Quality, options and a great warranty made it a no-brainer for us. John Coons is a straightforward, knowledgeable salesperson, and works hard for you while still being laid back. Nice not to have a pushy salesperson when you are buying a new car - an experience many people have likened to a root canal.
