THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WILL ROB YOU BLIND. Be very cautious when they write up a work order for you. They will use terms like "recommend" which means they are not sure but will keep the meter running on your hourly labor rate. With the amount of technology and software out there now I would recommend a mom and pop shop that specializes in foreign auto repair. You will still pay up but they wont nickel and dime you like these a**holes will. Keep in mind they are trained to sell and show a hefty profit in the service department !!!

Bought my car here coincidentally driving by, I saw a couple used cars on the east lot. Was told I can charge my car there since it's a plug-in. Its always a hassle to park and plug in because employee always park in only parking spot designated for EV customer charging. They told me sorry we can't find the person who owns car and turned me away. I brought my car for maintenance twice because I was told it needed an oil change every 5k but that wasnt true. On top of that when I get a 20k check on car back at Lynch they told me that it had the wrong oil in it. Guess they don't like customers unless they purchase a VOLVO. The sales person who sold me the vehicle was very amiable. Thanks Gengras Volvo!

The most pleasant staff I’ve dealt with from the time I walk in till the time I left with my keys on hand to my new car. My sales girl Charmaine was so pleasant and professional. I had title problems with my old car. Dealt with nothing but frustration from Hyundai and the DMV. Charlene was my saving grace she let me vent my frustration daily sometimes twice in a day. Was calm and assured that Gengrus would do whatever they could but I needed the title to my car for trade in. I almost gave up the deal but Charmaine did not pressure me in anyway and gave me the positive vibe that this will be ok. And it finally was!!! I picked up my car Charmaine was off do Angela greeted me and my dog Leo walked me thru all the new goodies My new car offered. She took her time I was never rushed. My wife and I purchased a used 2016 Audi Q3 from Gengras Volvo in East Hartford about 1 month ago. The purchase came with a 60 day/3,000 mile used car warranty. After a couple of weeks getting to know the car we discovered the satellite radio did not work. After some diagnosis with Sirius XM, and some searching online, it would appear that the shark fin antenna on the roof is faulty and needs to be replaced. I checked over the paperwork that we signed at the dealership and on the warranty sheet we got it says electrical systems and gauges are covered under the warranty. After reaching out to the salesman and service manager multiple times I finally heard back that they would look into it. A few more days went by, and a few more emails and phone calls later, I heard that only safety related items were covered under the warranty. I asked to see a copy of the paperwork we signed that says only safety related issues are covered under their used car warranty but, to no surprise, have yet to hear back from them. Gengras Volvo obviously doesn’t stand behind any of the service they offer, and are only concerned with making money. Spend your money somewhere else where they will actually listen to your concerns and take you seriously.

Years ago we had a very good purchase and service experience here.. More recently we went looking for an SUV, but the salesman we had was very impatient, as if we were inconveniencing him. I know it depends on the person you get, but this was not the experience we wanted looking for a high-end SUV, we took our business elsewhere. I can't say enough about the level of customer service I received during my recent experience at Gengras Volvo, East Hartford. I worked with Jola who is truly phenomenal. She is knowledgeable, professional, and as a bonus, fun to deal with. I was new to leasing and she took the time to go through the process in detail with me. At no point was there any pushy demeanor - a very laid back, comfortable car buying experience. While sometimes things happen, it's all about how they're dealt with. Without going into detail, I noticed a cosmetic issue with the vehicle after taking delivery. Gerry and Allen made what could have been a very sour situation into one that was extremely positive. I have visited the Gengras Volvo for a test drive of XC60 model during the president's holiday and I was very pleasantly surprised by the experience. Lance Jewell, was the first person that I have had the pleasure to meet in quite a few years with such a patience and knowledge of the car and its features. He patiently explained all them one by one in about 15 minutes, as well as pointing out the differences between the car I currently drive, 2016 S60 Inscription, and the 2019 XC60 Inscription that I was taking for a test drive. After the test drive, he presented me with several pricing/leasing options for that car, explaining everything in great detail, even though he knew that I was only window shopping at the moment, with a possibility to make a decision in a month or so. Jola is personable, trustworthy and will go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service! She listens to exactly what your needs are and ensures you drive away in your perfect fit car. I was suppose to pick up my car on a Friday but had a hiccup with DMV (completely on my end) and did not realize until I got to the dealership to pick it up. Jola exceeded expectations and accomodated me with another Volvo S60 that day until DMV was able to process my paperwork (which let’s be real, they are not speedy by any means). The process was smooth, hassle free, and Jola was always available to answer all my questions and concerns in a timely manner. Purchasing a car can be stressful when it dosnt have to be. I left the dealership today excited and confident I made the right decision. I highly recommend asking for her if you are considering a Volvo. This was the best experience I had at a car dealership. I was helped by Jola and Tyler through my decision process. They were both very kind and professional throughout my multiple visits. When I first started looking for a used car to buy, I was not sure if I wanted to buy a Volvo. I gave this dealership a try, and after the wonderful experience I had there with Jola, I decided that I would go ahead with a Volvo. After the first visit here, I explored other dealerships that carried Volvos to search for a perfect match for me. However, whenever I visited other dealerships, the experience I had was nowhere near the experience I had at Gengras Volvo with Jola. Some dealerships pressured me to buy a car at that moment and some tried to hide the details of the car to their favor. Whenever I had these bad experiences, it made me go back to Gengras Volvo. I had to visit them 2 -3 more times until I finally make a decision. However, throughout those visits, Jola never tried to pressure me and helped me through my searching process. She let me test drive multiple cars and was very honest with me about the history and the service condition of the car. Tyler came in a few times to chip in his opinion and also helped me make a decision. After my third or fourth visit, I finally decided to buy from them. The reason why I decided to buy from them was not completely because of the car but also because of the wonderful experience I had. In fact, I found a car that I liked more at a different dealership than the one I bought, but the experience I had with the other dealership did not make me want to do business with them. So, if you are looking to have a stress-less experience and buy from someone you can really trust, visit this place and ask for Jola or Tyler, and I confident that they will provide you with the best service.

Brought my 1995 Volvo in to get a new jack to replace the original one which failed to hold the weight of the car. Itbwas a recall which the previous owners hadn't done. I called Volvo USA and they approved the replacement of the jack after I asked to speak to the manager. When I called Gengras Volvo Terri set up my appointment and was very friendly and professional, went out of her way to make sure everything was all set, she was top notch! When I arrived at Gengras Volvo someone came out to meet me immediately and he brought my car in and directed me to the office. They were all great, friendly and efficient. I was in and out quickly and on my way. I love Volvo's, we've had 4, they are very safe, great cars, especially like the classics like my 1995 Volvo 850, can't beat it, super car !

Had an accident about a week ago, went out looking for cars this past Saturday 09-29-2018. From the beginning of the search process for a quality used vehicle I thought it was going to be the normal haggle with buying a car, I was wrong. I went there to have an oil change and a check up for my car. The service department is clean and comfortable and the employees are courteous. They give me an itemized list of any repairs needed and my car always gets a wash and vacuum after they're done.

The sales process was fantastic! However, the atmosphere of the waiting area in the service center needs much improvement. I took my teenager’s Volkswagen in this week to the VW dealer in my town for service and was blown away by their waiting area. They provide their customers a quiet place to work with comfortable, clean and updated furniture. They also had a separate area with TVs, food, drinks, etc. Next week, I have to take my Volvo in for service (which was twice the cost of the VW) and I’m dreading sitting in that dinghy room. It’s loud because it’s as if they converted a high traffic hallway into the waiting room. It’s just not a comfortable place to have to hang out for over an hour... something I will think about when I start looking for another car next year. Sometimes it’s the little details that make a difference.

I've bought three Volvos from Gengras over the last 20 years (2000 S70, 2005 XC70 and now a newer XC60) the last two working with Lance. He has always been friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and, most of all, patient. I would periodically think I was ready to move on from my 2000 S70 and take some of Lance's time to drive newer cars and get a fantastic update on Volvo models but, I kept hanging on to my wonderful old S70, a great car. Each time Lance made it really tempting but I realized "paid for" was still very attractive. After quite a few visits, Lance was always happy to see me and indulge me in the new Volvo game...his work finally paid off a few weeks ago with a beautiful XC60. After I committed to the sale, Lance took a great deal of time walking me through all the technology in a fully loaded XC60--he could have just taken the check and left me to figure it out. He still welcomes my calls when I have yet more questions! Lance kept me in the Gengras family for all those years, I've enjoyed that relationship--he's the best!

We had a great experience here. After shopping for over a year and countless other dealership visits of other makes, we finally found both a car and a dealer that we wanted to work with. A big problem with most dealerships is they want to talk budget and money up front. Waste an hour of our time just to take out a car that we might not even like. That happened over and over at all the other dealers. We actually walked out of a few while the salesman went to get another beat up, smoke-smelling used car that represented what he thought we were looking for.. Clearly they didn't listen. At Gengras, we were immediately introduced to 3 models that fit what we were looking for, narrowed it down a bit, and then took a test drive, all before a single $ or 'what can you afford' question came up. This isn’t the first time I’ve bought a vehicle from Gengras. Bought our first Volvo in 1977!!! And have bought several in between. I came there with anticipation of buying a Volvo “Crossover” as I’ve always owned sedans. After driving several models, my sales person Vecdet Yagtu suggested a Lexus RX 350 that was on the lot. We took it for a spin & I loved the way it handled. It was a tad bigger than the Volvo and it was a trade in from the previous owner at the right time & the right place. I was totally pleased with the way he handled everything - never pushy - casual - detailed - caring - and friendly. Everyone was that way - that’s why, after 40 years I keep coming back to this dealership! On that same day I also visited Hoffman Lexus down the street after test driving the Lexus at Volvo but the reception with which I was met was subpar and semi- unprofessional. I figured I would go to the Lexus dealership thinking I might get a better deal but they never even offered to let me test drive anything - they just kept walking me around the lot and showing me cars on the exterior and offering to negotiate prior to me even test driving the vehicle. There were no better deals! I couldn’t wait to get out of there and go back to Gengras. Very comfortable dealership with REAL people every inch of the way .... from sales (can’t say enough about Vecdet) to techs to financials to analysts - I was in good hands & will go back again plus recommend to work associates, friends & family! The only negative from the entire experience was being surprised at the lease signing with the information that the Volvo lease will basically require that I purchase a new set of tires at the end of the lease. We took several cars on long drives and when we found the one we liked there was no pressure and taking it overnight was never a problem. After owning a 1969 '144', 1975 '244', 1983 '244', 1987 '245' wagon and my last Volvo a 1995 '850' that went to its grave with 350k miles.in 2009 we decided to try an American made GM product. This is a review of the Service Dept. Only...My wife purchased a used 2007 C70 with 117k miles from a local (used car dealer) that was in immaculate shape inside & out. It seemed to have the typical ignition issue where when putting in the key it would do nothing then turn off/on it would start. One time it did not and it was towed to Gengras. Well within hours we were told the engine was shot and a new one as $12,600, a used one for $8000.00, which had 89k miles I called and asked for what was tested they said the engine would not turn even with a bar on the engine. I asked what else they said when they tried to jump start it the started smoked. Long story short they did not try the engine without the belts on until I suggested it,. It then turned but there was a "rod Knock". One night I drove by the dealer and saw the car on the rack with the top down (strange since it was an engine issue). The reasoning was it was hot out when the pushed the car inside. She did not think to roll the windows down!!!! Guess what they broke a piece off the trunk cover...But the Service Manager did replace it free of charge. After 10 days I had it towed to the dealer it was purchased from and got a replacement motor for $3500.00 that had 72k miles. Every mechanic I spoke to said a motor does just not go without some sign, smoke, loud bang, check engine light. To this day I believe it was an electrical issue and was caused in the diagnosis but I will never know for sure. The service manager was helpful and the only person that seemed to care. now the car not only looks great but runs smoothly

Reilly was super friendly and very helpful with my lease turn in. Lisa Hanson was very friendly and helped me to find the perfect car for my needs. She was knowledgeable and fun to deal with throughout the car buying process. Lisa took time to explain the differences in vehicle models so I was sure I was getting what I needed and avoid getting things I didn’t need. If you have had a less than perfect car buying experience you need to try Gengras Volvo. The service department is second to none as well. Always a positive experience.

The best car buying experience EVER; no haggle, no pressure. I purchased another XC70. I worked with Lance Jewell who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable (even mildly entertaining if you're into Volvo trivia, which I am). I am thrilled with the service and professionalism of the Gengras Volvo staff. Peter , the service rep, kept me informed and would not make negative comments about Mitchell Volvo, eventhough Gengras was repairing problems that had supposedly been fixed by Mitchell. The entire experience & interactions with Peter, Rohan, the shuttle driver who helped me swap my car seat into a loaner, the sales person who directed me to the service area & the mechanic who unlocked my car to get the parking pass I'd left behind. I'm very happy with the work that Gengras did and the condition of the car, which is 2 years old, but smelled & looked like new when I picked it up. I previously owned a VW Passat for 11 years and only had it serviced by VW Hartford during that time. I believe I will now only have my Volvo serviced at Gengras for the hopefully long life of this vehicle!

Brian Langley and Rick Miller were with me every step of the way, and helped me understand my options from a vehicle, warranty, and finance perspective in a low pressure environment. Walking out of the purchase, you definitely feel like you are now part of a family. Brian took his time to make sure the car was perfect (and I knew how to work the various features) before I drove it off the lot. I could share many anecdotes, but will just say that I am confident I made the right decision going to Gengras and working with Brian and Rick. I love my new Volvo :-)! After having bought many cars new and used , I can now actually say i had a great experience in buying a car. It took in buying 7 cars to get this experience. Someone took the time to show me the features of the car and the difference of features in other cars so i could have the information i needed to make the decision of which car i wanted. There was no pressure at all. I test drove 3 different cars ,and the sales person was not frustrated with me, maybe he got a bit scared when i went thru the red light but he stayed very calm. I would go back to Gengras Volvo. I hope the service department is as kind as the sales person Anthony was. Thank you for making the process of buying a car a memorable one for me.

In the automotive industry, the parts department, is the one place that you can't fool anybody; if it's broken you've got to buy the correct part to fix it! The guys at Gengras Parts are fabulous; I own redblock engines and phase 2 T5 XC-2007s. They always procure the correct part and make sure it will fit my VIN# exactly. In addition they provide great hints so you don't make mistakes on fitment. If there's a problem, they will solve/resolve the problem by getting you extra information. The parts guys have saved me time, money and reduced the stress of the unknown. Such service is "priceless" as the heard 'on TV'. The Service department, complements "parts", each repair is precise and only what is necessary. They make sure all systems are reset and properly working, especially important with new computer managed autos.
