What a fantastic experience! We had a pretty complex situation regarding different trade-ins along with making a decision about a vehicle. Jessicah Terrill was amazing ... she listened to us and had possibly the best working knowledge of vehicles (not just of Volvo, but the Honda trade-ins and the other vehicles we were considering) I've witnessed in many years of buying cars. She followed up but never pressured us for a sale ... made the decision process for us clear and easy. I've read some of the negative reviews, and can appreciate that not everyone will have an ideal experience buying a car. However, my experience here was nothing short of positive.

Although I did not purchase here, I want to publicly thank the staff at Gengras Volvo Cars of North Haven. The specific S60 I wanted was not available within their Inventory, but Jeff, the Sales Manager, had gone out of his way to locate cars across the country in the exact spec I had wanted; all of which were either over 1,000 miles away and too expensive to ship, or cars at locations which do not do swaps with surrounding dealers. He assisted in providing the locations of each car, as well as the respective dealers. Even after knowing I would not be purchasing from them, Jeff continued to assist and check in to make sure I was able to locate the Volvo *I* wanted, not the Volvo they wanted to sell me, competing dealership or not. Not once did I ever feel as though a sale to them is just another number in their monthly report. The entire staff is always friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The space is comfortable, clean, and accommodating. Overall, a much different experience from any other dealer and brand I have dealt with. Zero pressure in purchasing whatsoever. Charged 280 to cut a key and program the remote that was quoted several times at 175! I called multiple times and each time I got a quote of 175 plus tax. NO MENTION of any other possible charge. Even the day I came in down to the estimate. That price should have been honored. The estimate I signed said 175. The service person said there was not as much labor (that saved 30 minutes of labor) but Volvo charged for the software. The 175 should have been honored since....it was not authorized, AFTER that, future quotes to customers should be 280.00, But to do that to a customer is fundamentally and ethically not right or fair. I was shopping for a BMW, Audi or Infinity. I found a surprisingly great vehicle in the Volvo I purchased. I simply didn't know the Volvo was in the same category as the other luxury automobiles. The XC60 is very comfortable, great visibility with less blind spots, and powerful enough so I don't feel that I sacrificed performance for safety. Brian Langley was nothing short of fantastic. The entire Volvo staff was non-pressuring, informative and helpful. They gave me fair value on my trade and explained all options available with regards to cars, financing, warranties and service. I leased a car here recently and had EXCELLENT customer service. The Salesman, Michael F. and Sales Manager, Max made my experience easy and hassle-free. This review is about my recent bad experience at Gengras Volvo in North Haven. I currently drive a rare V60 R-Design, 6-Cylinder, Polestar Engine Chipped, 337 HP, 2015 Volvo. My lease is up in 3 months and my wife and I spent a Saturday test driving all of the competitive cars in our price point. We visited Executive Dodge & Jeep, Toyota of Wallingford, Executive Acura and Jaguar of Hartford and had wonderful “no-pressure” experiences with each salesperson. I have been leasing for over 20 years and we conduct this Saturday test drive as a standard practice prior to looking for a new vehicle. Therefore, we know the drill…we walk in, ask for a salesperson, provide them with our drivers licenses (we understand that they need a copy while we are out testing the vehicle for liability purposes) and I take the vehicle out my wife drives the vehicle back. Then we discuss what we thought on the way to the next dealership. The choices are narrowed down and I connect with eh salesperson thereafter. However, at Gengras Volvo of North Haven, the salesperson and the business manager would not let us test drive their vehicle because I wouldn’t give them my telephone number. How ridiculous. In this era of identity fraud and gorilla marketing, there is no reason that to test drive their vehicle, I should have to give them my telephone number only for them to harass me to purchase a vehicle from their dealership….no way, no how. As I noted, we understand that they need our licenses and the salesman had them already. So you know what, we left….shame on them. This was weeks ago and I wasn’t going to do anything about it. However, this past Saturday we finally got to drive the Volvo we wanted to at “Connecticut’s Own Volvo” in Milford and wow what a refreshing difference. I had both my wife and college aged daughter with me and I was grateful of the no pressure pitch. The salesman actually allowed my wife and I to take the vehicle for an extended period and you know what I think we found our dealership. So shame on you Gengras Volvo of North Haven, you guys have a lot to learn in regard to customer service.

I recently bought my Volvo through Gengras Volvo of Meriden. As it had been a while since I purchased a car I wasn't sure what to expect. Mike Ferris and Max Deselin were wonderful in making sure that I was informed, comfortable and educated about the choices I was making when going over my available options. I never felt pressured or obligated as this process took a few days. Most importantly - I felt valued as a customer. Surprisingly, this is rare these days. Max worked with me on my trade in value and Mike made sure the price for my selected vehicle was where it needed to be. Like others have said, I would highly recommend buying your Volvo through this dealership whether it is new or used. I also had my vehicle serviced here and the service was incredible. I was educated and informed about all service options - even though the service visit was for something under warranty. Kurt Schultz still made sure that I knew exactly what was happening. I would recommend Gengras Volvo of Meriden to anyone. I know I will certainly look here for my next vehicle if things remain the way they have so far.

This was the most relaxed and comfortable car buying experience ever. I was in the market for a new car, and had been interested in Volvos for a while. But I wasn't sure exactly which model I wanted. My salesman, Tim Rourke, was extremely knowledgeable, and had us drive several different models so that we would understand the differences between them and help narrow down the decision. Was seriously torn between an XC70 and an S60 sedan when the Sales Manager, Bob Doyle suggested, as he said "at the expense of a potential sale", I take the S60 for an extended test drive to make sure it was going to fit my needs (I had been driving a BMW X3). He arranged it, and at the end, we still had an incredibly tough time deciding as they are both amazing vehicles. Ended up with a 2013 XC 70 that looks and drives like brand new. It's an absolutely amazing vehicle and I'm in love. The staff was incredible and took care of everything - Tim even contacted my insurance agent for me to handle the transfer of insurance from the old car to the new. Bob got me an incredibly low interest rate - particularly for a used car, and Steve Dolan, the Finance Manager, took his time and explained everything at the time of signing. I literally did nothing but tell them when I wanted to pick up the car. When we did pick it up, it had been completely serviced, new tires put on it (can't say that about my BMW when I purchased it), and detailed to perfection. Tim then took the time to explain every little feature of the vehicle to me. I would highly recommend Gengras of Meriden. Even my husband, who despises car shopping, was surprised at how low-key and pleasant the experience was. No smarmy, pushy sales people, and no pressure tactics to "buy today". It took us over a week to decide on which vehicle, and it was fully two weeks to the day from initial test drive to pick up of the new car. Oh, and the best part? We were told they're moving to North Haven in February, making the drive for service even shorter.

They were able to meet some requirements I had on the vehicle as well. They make themselves available to me whenever I have questions about the workings especially the Infotainment system. I was looking for a 2012 S60 in a specific interior/exterior color and John Rita made it happen! This was my first time buying a luxury vehicle, so I was concerned about buying the S60 in the best possible situation. Not only was I looking for a good deal, but I wanted to feel taken care of during the process. The minute my husband and I met John, we knew we had met our salesman! He was knowledgeable without being pushy. John was 100% concerned with getting us what we were looking for and not just making the sale. He obviously loves Volvos, but he gave us the time to make sure we loved it, too. Of course, my interior/exterior color was not on the lot at the time, so John took down my specific requirements and went to work to find the car. Within a week, I was driving my car home! I'm sure some of it was luck, but I think the Gengras team worked together to make sure my needs were met. Once I had decided I wanted to buy the car, John set me up with Max Deselin in financing. I was already pre-approved for a loan through my credit union with a great finance rate, but Max took the time to see if he could do better - and he could! He also informed me of additional options I could add to my loan (e.g. gap insurance), but, just like John, was not pushy at all. When buying cars in the past, I've always felt like finance people have pressured me into add-ons, but Max literally just showed me options - he left the decision making process entirely up to me. It was very comfortable. On top of everything, the entire team at Gengras was happy to help me in any way possible. My process started with Tracy with the online department and she certainly got me to where I needed to be. Even the General Manager, Jerry, always came out to welcome me to the dealership. It was such a wonderful experience and I'm so happy to be in my new car! Thanks!

I have not had good luck with the service department. Brought in my XC-90 in for repair. Told the service agent I had two concerns. First I had the fuel pump repaired at a service station and it still was not working properly. Service tech recommended replacing the pump again. The first pump was only a few months old. Second I was going on a long trip and asked them to inspect the vehicle. They suggested the typical preventative maintenance repairs. Went on my trip and got 100 miles from home and the steering went out. Had to stay overnight to get repairs. Continued on my trip and had the same trouble with the fuel pump that I had before. Brought my car back to Gengras when i got home and the service tech told me there as a problem with a fuse. No offer to compensate me for the fuel pump that I didn't need. I'll never go back to Gengras.

The team at this dealership is amazing! I went through a lot of nonsense with several other dealers before I finally had a great experience. Dealing with Bob Doyle the sales manager, Steve Dolan the finance manger, Mike Ferris the sales associate and Tracy Casey the internet specialist was not only easy but pleasant, which car buying never is but they do a great job. It all started with Tracy who kindly listened to me complain about the other 20 dealers I have been who turned me over to Steve, who did a great job explaining everything to me and making me feel comfortable, to Bob who was great and welcoming. It finished with the best Car Sales Professional I have ever encountered, Mike. Mike who is knowledgable and caring was great to work with, he also has amazing hand writing because he uses a rule, it is impressive. The most amazing part of my experience was not only the way I was treated but the follow up. Tracy knew I had a difficult experience in the past, she kindly checked up on me and follow up through my entire process. I was happy to receive a voice mail from Mike a few days after I took my new car home with me to make sure I was happy. The dealership team wasn't even the best part of my experience it was my awesome new Volvo. I traded in my Lexus for a Volvo that was pre owned but looked and drove like new. Upon test driving i felt the littlest vibration in the front end, upon telling Bob he ensured me that he would get it look at, when I arrived the next day to take delivery I was informed that they kindly took care of the problem by replacing my rotors. Talk about service and loyal customers; Gengras Volvo has us for life. My wife, Tanisha Batiste and I purchased our first Volvo from Gengras in September. Several months later we were in an accident and our 2005 S80 was totaled. The service and hard work of sales executive John Rita and the financing team during our first purchase was exceptional. They didn't stop until we got approved. Well, once we received the news that our S80 was totaled, we immediately called John Rita. This time we experienced the same level of outstanding service. My wife and I struggled with deciding on the XC90 or the S80. John took his time with us and explained in detail all of the possibilities of both vehicles. He really had to be patience with us. Husband and wife sometimes just don't agree. John was upfront and honest regarding price range, gas mileage and vehicle use. It was a very tough decision for us. But with John's knowledge and concern of how we'd use the vehicle we decided on the 2008 S80 and we love it. Had a really discouraging experience. I arrived looking to see what my options were. The greeting and first impression Was extremely rude. I felt judged. The first words out of the sales consultant was if my vehicle was a lease and I responded yes. Next was how many months left on the lease and as soon as I said a year hands went up in the air and I got a rude "oh I can't help you". Little did he know that my lease is payed and I don't even need to trade in. All that should have been my cue to leave then but I didn't and that was my mistake. Went on a test drive in a 2018 XC90 and the car was shaking and the screen did not work. The response was it needed to go through a pre inspection. Fine! I loved the car and was interested in purchesing the vehicle and taking it home. The sales person gave me a peace of paper showing numbers and said "all your info you will need is on here hope I answered your questions". At that point I felt like they were in a rush to have me leave and I was most definitely not going to beg for their assistance so I left. I'm not about to pay 8,000 down on a almost 70,000 car for that kind of customer service. My first thought was maybe just a bad consultant but no the Bad vibe was consistent throughout the dealership. Volvo I'm very disappointed...

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!! Turned in my lease and received a 4200 dollar bill from them for property taxes which I was NEVER TOLD I HAD TO PAY BEFORE OR DURING the FIRST LEASE or EVEN BEFORE GETTING MY NEW LEASE. When I asked ..again...WHEN I ASKED BECAUSE THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY PROPERTY TAXES ..how the property tax worked (i was under the impression from my first lease they were in the payments) Rick told me Volvo paid them and I had to pay Volvo back. I specifically told him I've never paid them anything extra besides payment he assured me I did or else this new lease wouldnt have gone through and another LIE just to get me to sign a paper. They did an inspection on my turned in lease WITHOUT ME BEING PRESENT and 500 dollars for BUFFABLE scratches on my turned in lease?!?! 1400 for remaining payments...I was getting into another lease and they said they were taking care of by Volvo but clearly not they're saying I owe that now so when I call about it I'm told "it happens sometimes well try to get it taken care of". They made sure they called me 15 times prior to come sign the papers to get into a new lease but now I'm having issues and DAYS go by without hearing from them. Now everything is out of Brian's hands. How convenient. I am extremely unsatisfied and angry that I even am in another lease for 3 years because I dont want it ANYMORE.

Always ask customers to do a tire wheel alignment when it is not necessary. After the alignment, the steering wheel is not centered when the vehicle is traveling down a straight and level road. pay more to get worst.

Gave my 21 year old granddaughter the car I had promised to her when she was 6 years old. I never thought I would find a car that would make me as happy as my old 2004 xc70 but I was wrong. This 2015 is as close as you can get to my old Volvo but with lots of new features. HORRIBLE SERVICE - was told by "Eric" that a specific problem with my Volvo could be repaired, spent my money to tow it over there only to hear "we can't fix that problem" Apparently Eric, was someone in parts dept who didn't know what he was talking about. Gengras REFUSED to do anything about it, sticking me with ANOTHER BILL to tow it back to a different mechanic. Seems fair, right? And forget about getting a hold of anyone or having a phone call returned! Read the reviews on Yelp - they seem to be rated quite lower over there. I'm buying a newer Volvo this year, and will definitely NOT choose this place.
