I'm really disappointed in the apparent decline in customer service from the service dept. Made an appointment to have my car inspected on Saturday and I was told by tech that the parts needed wouldn't be here until Tuesday. That's fine and all but I was also told that not only would the parts be there Tuesday that it also would be done Tuesday. When I dropped my car off they told me that the parts had not come in but worst case scenario it would be ready by 10 am the next day. That wasnt the story the next day. When I called on Wednesday, they said it wouldn't be ready until 1pm. Now, being the Townsend Honda of the past, I usually get a call informing me that my car was ready; yet, when at 130 PM when I decided to call to check in, I was informed that my car was ready. Getting there at 230 PM the receptionist could not find my ticket nor my keys. She called the service writer who apparently told her she would bring them right up. TWENTY MINUTES later I was told that she kept the keys up at her desk for customer safety. This is one event in a string of events that has leads me to write this review, which is sad because this place used to be unparalleled in customer service The second star is for Jane Cobb and the sales staff. I love Jane Cobb. That woman can do no wrong in my book.

Basically, Honda sold me a used car for too high of a price for a car that had been wrecked. I could not get the money back out of it that I had lost. Don’t trust these people. They are your typical “tell you WHATEVER you wanna hear to make you buy from them” car dealership. To reply to your message you obviously don't have an up-to-date Carfax because all three other locations I went pulled up that the car had been in an accident 6 months previous to when I purchased it so obviously every Carfax that y'all are pulling up is old and out of date. @modelmade5 on IG

What a terrible experience. The time wasted here and the stress involved with paying for something and not having it resolved is quite troublesome. Then, instead of offering to make it right, they offer a discount on my next visit. I find that to be quite insulting. Will never go back here, think twice about bringing anything here that isn't absolutely brand new. You probably know more about your own Honda than the service department does.

I own a 2015 Odyssey. I went to the dealership on 11/19/2018 because the seat back on one of my second row seats malfunctioned. I was greeted well. The seats in the waiting area were comfortable. I was there for over 3 hours. Several seat recalls were taken care of and a service bulletin. They ordered me a new seat back. The service worker explained everything to me and answered my questions. All was well until I opened my door and saw black dirt on my floor mat and door sill. I looked at the second row seat and there was black dirt on the lower part of the seat. This is the reason I don't like to take my vehicle to this dealership.

At the end of the day I like the car I got, but the EVAP system was all torn up (but didn't rear it's head for about 300 miles/one full tank of gas...) and I've already had to put about $500 into repairs, and will probably have to replace the charcoal canister soon, which will run around another $500.

My wife called Brian at 9:30 on 11 Jun about a 2016 Honda CRV Pre Certified. Talked to him a couple of times and a deal was made. Wife told him we would be there at 3:00 because we were coming from Pell City, AL. Brain said he would have the vehicle cleaned up and ready to go. 20 minutes before getting to the dealership a representative from Townsend called to make sure we knew were they were located. Upon arrival, Brian meets us and tells us he would get the vehicle. 15 minutes later we’re told they’re putting air in a tire. When the vehicle is brought around it’s not cleaned up. I asked why was it not cleaned up. They knew we were coming. He made excuses about there was four cars ahead of it. He made no apologies or anything. It was like he could care less. In all my years of buying cars, this is the worst dealership I have ever set foot in. We drove 1 1/2 hours both ways and to be treated like that.

We REALLY needed a new car, but we were unsure of what, if anything, we could qualify for, as we are trying to repair our finances. So, on a Sunday night we took a stab and filled out a form online to get prequalified. First thing Monday morning a salesman contacted us, and told us that were we prequalified for a good amount. Within a few days, I was driving a brand new car. Our salesman was very knowledgeable and attentive, and we enjoyed communicating with him via text and email bc we are rarely able to speak on the phone during the day. I couldn't be happier with my new Honda! Thanks Brian and Townsend Honda!

My car has been in repair twice since having a motor put in at this location in tuscaloosa. . each time they have kept my car for an extended amount of time and the problem still isn't fixed. i truly believe that i have been taken advantage of, as a woman. when they first received my car back i waited til the third day to contact them and was told that they hadn't even gotten to it yet! they also expected me to absorb the cost of coming to pick it up when i didn't create the problems that caused my car to be towed back to their dealership in the first place.as of today they have had my car since last wednesday and no one has returned my call to even explain what's going on!. Feeling very inconvenienced and ripped off for 3400.00$. obviously no one is concerned for how i am making it without my vehicle. i can't wait til this ordeal is settled and i get a properly running car back.

Grateful beyond words to John and the Townsend service team for their help this weekend. Every experience I've had with the service department has been a nightmare. I've had to bring our vehicles here for recalls, and in every case they have damaged something or failed to get the repair right somehow. In one case they told me I needed work done that I had recently had done at an independent shop. This last trip they did a sloppy job reassembling the car after another recall repair, and damaged my dashboard in the process. When I called and asked if they could give me a loaner while they fixed these things, the service writer said he would have the service manager call me. Haven't heard from them. Saddest thing is I was seriously considering the purchase of a new car. We will not be buying from this dealer.

I bought my Honda CrV at Townsend in 2005. Still running strong with 122,000 miles. I go there for service because they do excellent work. Today Ronnie, srvc mgr, and his very experienced mechanic found several critical pieces that needed replacing. For example, the spark plugs were the originals. I trust his advice and will continue driving an hour from home (where there are 4 Honda dealers/ service depts.) to get my car serviced at Townsend. They earn loyalty.

I do not think they even deserve one star. The customer service is terrible. Absolutely no communication with the customer. We dropped our car off on Sunday. They called us Monday morning to tell us that they had received our car and got the go ahead to work on it. Did not hear from anyone for two days. Called them on Wednesday and was told the service tech had been out for two days - I think at that point they should have called US to let us know so we didn't have to contact them. Still no definite answer as to what was going on with the car and how much longer it would be. By Thursday afternoon still no call. So once again I called them. At this point I was very unhappy and told the service tech. He apologized and tried to make excuses. After talking with him for 15 minutes he asked if I would like to speak with the tech that actually worked on the car. I said sure, which was a huge mistake. The tech was completely disrespectful. He started out the conversation yelling at me "do you know who you're talking to?" Towards the end of our conversation he told me that "I was wasting his time". They wrote our cell phone down wrong and he told me that was my problem, not his. Needless to say, "the customer is always right" is not in any way part of Townsend Honda's vocabulary. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Once numbers were established for the trade-in, the manager stated in order to make the trade happen he'd have to increase the listed price by ~$3000. In addition, that I'd have to finance through their dealership. Very disappointing and deceiving on their part.

Several months ago, my husband brought our 2007 CR-V to Townsend Honda for two reasons. First of all, the vehicle had an open recall for the secondary shaft bearing. Also, we had received a notice of a warranty extension on the A/C Compressor Clutch and brought the vehicle to the dealership because our A/C had not been functioning properly for about a year prior. When my husband called the service department to check on the status of the work, he was told that the A/C was not faulty and that the car was ready to be picked up. My husband insisted that the A/C was indeed not functioning properly, and that we had dealt with no air conditioning (in Alabama) for a year. Furthermore, we had just returned home from driving 350 miles with our children sweating in the backseat because the fan was blowing hot air. Since our vehicle was apparently ready, he went to the dealership to pick it up and when he arrived, it was in the process of being repaired. The service department told him that he was given incorrect information on the phone; that the person he spoke to was confused about which vehicle was ours. While we cannot prove that we were lied to, I feel very certain that the service department was trying to avoid performing warranty work until my husband pressed the issue. After that experience, I would rather not take my car to Townsend Honda for any reason. Unfortunately, I will need to bring my vehicle back to Townsend very soon. Yesterday, I discovered that the secondary shaft recall work was not performed. We had brought our vehicle to that service department for two very specific reasons, and they (1) tried to avoid the work and (2) didn't perform the work at all. If you own a Honda, I would recommend having it serviced by a reputable mechanic or at another dealership.

If you are looking for a vehicle or you need service, Townsend Honda in Tuscaloosa, AL is where you need to go!!! I got a great deal on my Honda when I bought it in 2016. I have had wonderful service there everytime I take it in. These people care about their customers. Just yesterday, I took it in and the nicest service people, Roderick Thomas and Ronnie Roberts made sure they solved my problem and got me back on the road. I bought my 2018 Honda CRV July 2018. The salesman was Allen Ferguson. I am so appreciative to Allen for helping me and having the patience with me. The process went very smooth and the wait was not an issue at all. I brought my Honda back last Saturday my rain guards to be put on. The service team worked fast and system is well organized. My wait was not long at all. I am very pleased with Honda Townsend.

The service department is suspect. I bought my daughter a Honda civic at the end of October and I had her take the car to Townsend Honda to determine if any work needed to be done. At that time, the service person noted that there was a 5mms brake pad on each front brake and that no work needed to be done. He gave a copy of his inspection report. At that time, we had an oil change and went on our way. Five weeks later, the brakes started to squeak so we returned to Townsend Honda to have the car looked at. After looking at the brakes, he says that not only are the pads bare but the rotors need to be replaced as well due to wearing grooves within the surface. He states that the car is not safe to drive. So we agreed to have the work done ($375). However before the work is completed, he informs us that we may also need new seals. Apparently the overwear of the pads caused the pistons to push in and damage the seals. This repair would be an additional $200-$400. Although the previous mechanic gave us a copy of the report, the report was not readily available to new service manager and was not listed on the car's work history. He initially denied that an inspection ever took place. At this point, I pulled my copy the previous inspection report because I want to understand how the brake pads went from 5mms to nothing in 5 weeks. I stated that either the person that did the inspection did not actually inspect the pads or right now, the service manager was trying to get me to pay for unnecessary repairs. I requested the replaced rotors and the brake pads. To my surprise, one set of brake pads went missing. After 15 minutes of looking, they could not be found. Fortunately, once I started asking questions, the seals magically began to hold and did not any longer need to be replaced. Once we had access to the car and produced the previous inspection report, he also had a copy at this point. I am very proactive about repairs to my cars. I know that replacement of rotors is not usually needed if the brake pads are serviced in a timely fashion. I do not believe that the person that did the initial inspection made a mistake. I make this judgement based on the fact that I would have paid to have the brakes replaced if there was a problem at the initial visit. I do believe that the service manager on the second visit identified my daughter as a student at the local university (we live in a large university town and she is young and has a student parking hang tag). He knows that she called me and that I was paying for the repair. I do not think he expected me to show up and question the repairs. I think he believed that he could run up the cost and that it would be paid by a third party that was not present and had no choice. Also since he did not initially have access to the inspection report, he did not realize that I could prove the condition of the brake pads only 5 weeks earlier. Please be careful when using this repair facility. Let them know you want your replaced parts and that you will be looking at them to discern whether the repair was needed or not. I personally will *NOT* be using this facility again.

I work in Birmingham, but live in Tuscaloosa and he was able to help me out by staying after hours and letting me test drive my car. I will make this post as short as possible, just enough to get my point across. But it should be and could be more in depth. But I don't want people to not read it because of its length, because it is very important, espically for young women. If I could give this place a zero, I would. I took my car in to get the blower motor and the starter repaired. I was unsure of the extent of my warranty and I asked the leader over my car repairs to check with Honda Care before making repairs. He didn't and I had to pay out of pocket for my repairs. I was then able to get in touch with my orginial dealer to told ne that these things should have been cover under Honda Care. I inform the leader of this and he told me that I would only be refunded partially becuse it was after the fact. I spoke to the superverior at Honda Care and he told me that this was not true. They then, gave me various low numbers of my refunded amount. I paid 1733 and they were only trying to give me back 600 to begin with. I spoke to like three different people including the supervisor and they all was putting it off on each other once I informed them that the Honda Care supervisor said I should be fully reimbursed. All in all I only recieve like 1300 back. They basically charge me for things that did not needed to be done on my car and therefore wouldnt give me a full return. I brought this to their attention that certain things they "said" they complete was not necessary for the repairs needed and thr supervisor became very defensive. Women please take someone with car knowledge with you before seeking repairs. They will charge you for any and anything and you have no way of knowing if they even comleted the repair or not.

They are currently running a radio ad that states, due to the number of vehicles lost in hurricane Harvey, they are willing to pay 25% above highest retail value of your vehicle. I called to confirm this before heading down there and Logan basically read the ad to me with similar wording. But when I got there, they low-balled me with a $3500 offer on my 2009 Cadillac STS in excellent condition and with only 96K miles on it! Then they said the offer was for trade-in value and for trade-in only! Don't believe their false advertisement.

It was the most terrible experience in entire of my life at any Honda dealer at United States. I bring the car after getting recall because of "Check Charging System" error message on the dash won't go off. When I put my car in, I did not get any other error signals other than "Check Charge System" on the middle of the gauge cluster. However, after I got the call back from one of the service adviser and he told me it cost $1295 to fix the car. When I came to dealership to look at my car there is so many light came on which were "check engine light, power steering light, and TPMS light." They said the PCM which is computer that controls power train. My car was 2014 accord and only 66000 miles on it. I think this is not fair to replace $1295 for computer which car does not driven for 4 years from purchase. This PCM computer is not gone easily. So I denied to fix my car at there and paid $108 for diagnostic fee then I went Honda dealer at Montgomery which is my home town. The Honda dealer at Montgomery diagnostic as bad alternator which cost half of the price to replace the PCM and after fixing it the error message gone off from dash. Honda dealer at Montgomery charged only 65 dollor to diagnostic the system. I think you should avoid to fix your car at here other than do just regular maintenance. Also, Do not diagnose your car at here is waste of money.

It was easily the WORST customer service I've ever had in a car service center. We took it in on Tuesday morning and they never called me back. I called 4 or 5 times and went there once. End result, I hesitated, giving myself some time to meet my needs whether it was the CrossTour or CRV-EX-L. We did communicate after my decision and I asked if she wouldn't mind giving me her cell phone nbr. I called in this place on Monday, April 15th at 3:28 pm. to talk to someone in the service department wanted to discuss Recall. The lady who picked the phone is worthless because she put me on hold and tried to connect with the service department 5 times and failed. Every other minute she would say Honda may help you and I kept on saying that I am the same person. In this case, few things could happen, either she has no clue about this business as a whole or she is not well trained. If the service department was closed then she should be aware of that. After 8 minutes, 5th times she said Honda how can I help you and I said I am the same person and I don't need your help anymore and I hung up. What a failure customer service.

Bought a Honda CRV on 10-13-12. Was on guard against usual dishonest sell tactics, from previous car buys at other dealers, and did not find those here. The SUV was a good deal, even after a hard inspection. We got a fair deal on our trade in, and the financing was equal to what we would have gotten at our credit union. They really backed up what they sold. We bought a used Honda Odyssey for under $10,000. After a couple days we noticed the wheelbearings were going out. I called them up and they not only replaced them , but they also gave us a loaner car, a new set of tires, and drove it back to Columbus, Mississippi for us! I've worked with several other dealerships who would've just said sorry, it's an "as is" vehicle. I would strongly recommend them to anyone considering buying a vehicle.

I have a Civic as well, not through Townsend, but the service department at Townsend Honda have always treated me with respect and helped me out when I needed them most. We were recommended by a friend to see Jane Cobb (who is fabulous!) and have her help us navigate through the car buying process. Jane was wonderful, very knowledgable and friendly and wasn't pushing us towards anything but she was very straight and told us exactly what we needed to know. We live about an hour from the service center. I called to schedule an appointment and they said I did not need one for an oil change it would not take long and to come in before 4:30. I arrived at 12:56. Waited until 2:00 and asked someone when it may be completed. Turns out I asked the service manager Joe. He came back and replied honestly that a guy in the back went to lunch and they forgot to work on our car. Why you only have one person who can change oil at a dealership is beyond comprehension. I was not happy but he asked what did I want to do. I told him I drove an hour for this oil change. I had called to schedule service so I would not have any delays and was told I didn't need to. I admired his honesty. About 25 minutes later he hands me my keys and says you're done. I asked if I needed to sign anything, he replied no. I asked for my multipoint inspection. He said he didn't order one since I was in a hurry. I realized that he didn't provide any documentation because he did not want me to fill out the satisfaction survey. I demanded one. I got an invoice and left. I was not happy when they forgot to service our car but I was not upset until he tried to sweep the problem under the rug. Customer service is truly lacking at this facility. If you provided quality service you would not need banners on every wall stating something to the effect of, "Please not tell Honda how bad the service is." Joe while he did honestly confess it was their mistake he tried to hide it from Honda. That is a major issue.

They kept ordering the same wrong part for my civic, and I ended up having to take five trips to the dealership. After they finally got the right part in, they told me it would cost not $12, but $170 (with $100 of that being for an hour of labor). They offered me a 10% discount "for my troubles." They expect me to pay $100 per hour for their time, but have no respect at all for the several hours of mine they wasted. You couldn't pay me to go here again.

Her first experience dealing with this type of issue was terrific. Two words are all you need to know about Townsend Honda: Jane Cobb. In a business where turnover is notoriously high, Jane Cobb has been at Townsend Honda for DECADES. This is highly unusual and quite wonderful. Jane has legions of loyal customers. We have had Hondas in the family since the mid 1980s, and we have repeatedly bought from Jane. She is honest, friendly, patient, and superb at what she does. No one has ever beaten her on a sale, and repeatedly she has gone far out of her way to be helpful. Honestly, she feels like family. I notice some complaints on here about the Townsend Honda service department. I cannot say much about this, because we come from a hundred miles away just to buy from Jane, so we don't use the Townsend Honda service department very often. I can only recall two times specifically. One time we had a small annoyance with a vibration in the rear parcel shelf of an Accord; it turned out there was a service bulletin on it, and the problem was fixed immediately without charge. It never occurred again. I vaguely recall one other time when there was some sort of mix-up with our car in the service department, but Jane got to the bottom of it immediately and it was taken care of in a flash. I know Townsend is a family owned business and not part of some rapacious dealership chain headquartered far away. I was also happy to discover that Jane can cross-sell Nissan and Ford, too, if Honda doesn't happen to have the car you want that year. We got an absolutely fantastic deal on a Nissan at Townsend's Nissan store across the street, through Jane. I have recommended Jane to a great many friends and students, and they have always come back happy, and every single one--even if they didn't buy a car--commented on how good and nice Jane was. One thing is sure: As long as Jane Cobb is at Townsend Honda, I will not hesitate to buy there again. Our whole family loves her. P.S. I can assure you that I have no relation to Jane Cobb other than as a highly satisfied customer, and my opinion about most dealers and sales reps would take the paint off your walls. It tends to be a very dirty, deceitful business, and I cannot believe how many tricks dealers and sales reps try to pull on people--and most times, they probably get away with it. That is what makes dealing with Jane at Townsend Honda such a pleasure: no pressure, no tricks, a great deal right off the bat, and wonderful follow-through after the sale. As I said at the beginning, Jane Cobb is all you need to know about buying a Honda.

I would never buy another car from them again. The car they did sale me was a 2013 with 76,656 miles on it. 4 days later it broke down. 2 weeks later took it out of town and it broke down again. Once I got it fixed, once again I tried telling them I wanted a new car because obviously this one had issues no one could fix. All they could say was I can’t help you with that. Beware.

First of all myself family friends we have great service from the sale to service always have there my have been a mix up at times but can not recall anything that was not made right asap .the few bad reviews I have read I thank is hogwash people wanting something for nothing all places of business is not perfect just like buying a home nothing is perfect give the car people a brake so what if your part did not come in on time or it took a little longer on your oil change get over it life goes on if I was in the automotive business I would tell you to go to hell and be done all this social media has so much hogwash I have bought cars and trucks for 45 years and had them serviced at car dealerships and for the most part everything went just fine and for some reason it did not the car dealerships has made it right just wanted to give my 2 cents .

This is my fourth accord purchased from townsend honda but I have to say this has been the easiest and fastest purchase I have ever done. I have a crazy busy schedule, most of my communication is done through txt and emails. I never thought I would buy a car that way though, I decided which one I wanted on monday and closed the deal on tuesday. Everything was ready when i arrived at 5:30 to sign papers and I was done by 6:15 Crystal went above and beyond To get me what I wanted and at a great price. She answered any question I had ,any time of the day I have to say she is not your average salesperson she is much more it was like talking to a friend. My wife was looking for a new car and wanted one of the new sporty accords. So she found the one she wanted online and I contacted the dealership which got a salesman Trey Walker to call me back and get my information. The salesman was courteous, and knowledgeable and by the same time the next day gave me a call and said everything was ready to go, so I drove down during lunch shook ever ones hand signed the papers and was gone in less than 30 minutes. I don't see how it gets any better than that. Also the first free oil change was due last Saturday and I couldn't make it so my wife took it in herself. When I ask her how it went, she said everyone was so polite, proficient and it was a breeze. Long to short of it is, Townsend has a lot of car lots and years of experience and they just know how to do it right.

It was time for us to get another vehicle. We knew it would be a Honda since our last 3 were Honda's. We had Tim as our sales person. It was great to work with this salesman. We appreciated his style was not to sell or be pushy. Rather he knew we were already sold on the Honda brand. He just showed us the options. Tim's apparently took the time to listen and helped us through the process. I have walked out of dealerships because the salesperson had his or her agenda. In closing, we are happy with our new CRV and glad we had Tim to help us through the process.

Is it possible to be more insulted??? I went in for an oil change and told the service writer that I had purchased the service plan when I bought my car at Townsend Ford 2 yrs ago. I have been going to Townsend Honda for 2 yrs for all my services and never had any issue with the people finding my service plan. The service writer tells me that I'm not in their system but his computer shows where I've had previous oil changes and not been charged. I wonder why??? He then tells me "They must've been given to you for free for some reason." Some reason??? What reason would that be? He tells me I have to PROVE that I am on the service plan. I whip out my paperwork from when I purchased the car and start proving it. He tells me that the "service plan" that I paid for is the extended warranty. I got heated. They call the service manager who then takes my paperwork and tells me that I only paid for an extended warranty. I again, tell him he is wrong. He makes a phone call to someone and they ask for the VIN and within seconds they have the information that I do IN FACT have a service plan. This all took 20 min and they could've saved themselves the embarrassment and me the trouble by just doing their job. I didn't get an apology for any of it. They wouldn't even look me in the eye after it was all said and done. Another time before this, they didn't attach my skid plates after one of my "free for some reason" oil changes and they got ripped off my car while I was driving. It took them almost 2 weeks to get that corrected and get the parts put on. I will likely start using the Townsend Nissan service dept to see if they are any better.
