Never used reviews before but the experience today was so outrageous, I created an account to share. Worse customer service ever. I went in and talked to a lady inside to let her know I wanted to buy a car and was paying cash but needed min cargo space and wanted to do some measurements. She was nice and told me to go look and when i find something to let her know. As I'm looking at the first vehicle, another woman comes out and says they can't sell to me if I use the vehicle for anything other than personal that it was a stipulation in their contracts. I said if I buy a car with cash, I should be able to do anything I choose to do with it. She reiterated her stance. I argued the point but she stood firm so I left and told her very sternly that was ridiculous. I even said if I buy a vehicle and want to crush it, that was my business and not theirs. I went somewhere else.

So the day I walked into car mart in Athens al I was hung over and about broke but the folks down here at car mart looked at me like I was a man in a suit and tie took me in offering refreshing cold drinks and even had a grill set up with food so as they took me in to start my first experience in the car but world I was nervous and they made everything so easy and within hours I drove off in my new Toyota Camry so anyone looking for a great car experience and the right people to accommodate you in the car buying business then please give my people at car mart in Athens a visit and see how easy it was for me to drive easy just like it can be for you

i purchased my 2006 Nissan Titan from this place. Joe is a great salesman and give him a 5 star review. But the engine had to be replaced not even a week after purchasing it. They kept my vehicle for 2 weeks. Now the rack and pinion is going out on it and having a hard time setting up an appointment before my warranty runs out. Just one problem after another with the vehicle. Also a lady named Kiesha that works there has the worse attitude and just zero customer service skills. Will definitely be the last time I purchase from this lot

In the beginning, I had a great experience from Car Mart. I love my Buick Enclave and I am satisfied with it (even though it’s starting to have some issues already). But my problem is this past Wednesday when I went in to make a payment. Jessica told me to wait and shortly after she got my payment, but where the problem comes in is after I made my payment I needed to speak with someone about my account. I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes after making my payment, no one awknologed me even though I saw just about every single worker walk by me multiple times, having personal conversations. I had to be at work by 2:45, so I made sure to get there in plenty of time to do what I needed. They made me late for work, and I never even got to speak to anyone about my account. The people that work there need an attitude adjustment and some more training on proper customer service.

I visited the new store Friday and it looks GREAT! I have bought two vehicles from here this staff has always been Great to me the atmosphere is much much better than years past they do events for the community and you can actually talk with GM. I am going to buy my son vehicle here for graduation this week and this is the only place I will buy a used car from I love the staff and they treat you like family. I see the people who complain on here im sure that most of you have issues because you want car mart to give you something for free my experience here have been nothing but great even when my service contract ended the GM shonda helped fixed my car and let me make payments to them I don't know of any used car place in Alabama that will fix your car for you and let u make payments on it I think this staff is very nice respectful and very helpful and the community loves this place and i send everyone to them and never had any complaints they are always nice to customers. Keep up then good work Car Mart of Athens!

DO NOT buy from Athens car mart . I have had my fill of rude people and poor service. I got a car from them for them to tell me it has been fully serviced and no issues whatsoever with the car , a week later I had to have a oil change , no big deal just a oil change, but heres my problem 2 weeks after that a ton of lights come on the vehicle and it shuts off and will not crank back up . I call them and tell them my problem and to have them come get the car cause at this point I do not want it any longer. they don't . they wait a whole week and a half before coming to get the car. then 3 days later call me and say it was fixed and now drives like a brand new car and wants me and my husband to come get it but want us to make the 2 car payments from when the car was not running. nWhen I call to see how much we are supposed to pay and to make sure the car is working fine i got attitude in return. we go and pay them money then have to turn around and go get the car from a shop they had it at ,start heading home and the car shuts off once AGAIN. before we can even make it home. Finally get the car to our home and turn it off to try and crank it for it to not crank . I do not appreciate being told that something was fixed and for me to come pay money for it to not be fixed and mess up not even 30 minutes after getting the car back. DO NOT BUY FROM ATHENS CARMART . If I could rate a 0 I would . If I would have known the car would not have been fixed I wouldn't have went up there and wasted my time. I have 2 kids to take care of and spending that money in order to have a running vehicle only to have a vehicle that still does not run and is still messed up has my blood boiling . They are conartist at its finest.

this is by far the best car mart in this state! The staff is very friendly and courteous and always offer us something to drink and popcorn they truly treat you like family there when we come in every month. I had issues with my vehicle but its a used vehicle and I had it over a year and when I was out of my service contract the General Manager Mashonda had my car fix and set me up on a payment plan for the repair I have bought many used vehicles in the past from other used car companies but no one ever help me as much as they have Carmart in Athens is the best used car dealership to go to and I have sent them many of my family and friends and we all love our service and vehicles! Thank you Carmart for helping people like me. We appreciate all you do!

i visted the new location today looking for a used vehicle for my grandson I must admit I read these reviews at first and was very skeptical of this place but i had a really nice experience here I met joe the salesman he was very nice to me he took me on two test drives and I loved both vehicles! He introduce to the GM Mashonda she was very friendly and nice I met Gladys the assistant manager as well and the GM brought me a bottle water without me having to ask for anything to drink and I didn't buy a car. but the customer service that was given to me at this dealership hands down was fantastic I went to McCurry motor when I left car mart and they didn't even acknwlodge me for 30 minutes! I think car mart customer service won me over these reviews are helpful but I don't think these people are as bad as some of these reviews say they are I will be buying my grandson car from carmart thank you for your great customer service!

This is a great place to get a vehicle. We were really down on luck. Our family car had went down and we needed something quick. So we headed down late on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by Tiffany then got to work with Mashonda who is the general manager. They were both awesome got all the paperwork pulled thru told us it all looked good pick anything on the lot we wanted. Then along came Joe and he was awesome to work with, very funny and friendly. We looked at a couple and decided on a Chevy Avalanche. The entire crew is awesome friendly and will help as much as they can going above and beyond to put u into what u want!¡!! Check them out. Wife bought a truck from them. They took full advantage of her. Using tax refund and 100.00 a week. Final cost was over 12k for a truck that been wrecked and wasn't worth 6k to start with. Be aware of their shady business. Would advise to shop somewhere else.

There mechanic fixed my breaks and even brung my car back to Madison for me . 3 hrs later I almost ran into the back of someone because the breaks went out. They had a white chevy HHR with the 250 down special on the lot. The test drive was fine, but unfortunately it had super low coolant. And the oil cap is completely gunked up with brown crud. Also, the tail lights didn’t even work on the vehicle, and the wheel cover flew off the car in the middle of the highway. And 4 speakers inside the HHR didn’t even work. A literal pile of junk.

I wanna first off saying this is my second car from car mart. But the experience I have had with the staff this time has been horrible to say the least. I don’t know if customer service skills are failing or the ones that are being chose at Athens car mart are poor choices. I have been in customer service all my life and management for the most part. When purchasing my car I came in contact with the MIT Krystal. Never smiled never had a welcoming spirit about her but more of I was a bother and she had to work. Then the way she spoke to me and even raised her voice at me. That was the first flag. Spoke with MaShonda and she said she would address that. But that is one y’all chose for a face of your company. Next here recently, had a major problem. Keisha Malone which is an account rep there at Athens, I have never been talked down to or spoke to like I’m a child like before. She is the rudest person on the phone. She does not care about your customers at all. She wants to talk to you all crazy and thinks she can get away with it. I know she has a job to collect money and sometime you have to be firm. But I have not neglected her or ran from my payments. The conversation we have had on the phone have been none the less than her speaking down to me and has the worst attitude. So after this last talk on the phone I wanted to speak to some one else about her nasty attitude she has. She threatened with a repo and she threatened to disconnect the line. Remind you I am a week late. I never cursed on the line with her and was just stating how I felt after her nasty dry attitude, so she gave me corporates number. I asked for her full name several times and she said she was the only Keisha at that location and she was not obligated to give me that information. Then I said ok that’s fine we’ll see. Then she chuckled like it was funny to her that one of y’all a customers was that upset. To the point where I didn’t even want the car or dealings with this company again. So I said oh this is funny. She said what are you talking about while she is smiling on the phone and chuckled again. So I just hung up. Then I called the number she gave me only to be able to leave a message. To have no return call from the corporate number. The next day I got a call from car mart which I thought was her calling to harrass me more but it was lady by the name of Kenyatta, kenyatta voice was pleasant. I told her about my experience and she was apologetic, concerned, and reassured me that was not how car mart operates. She and I spoke and she took amazing care of me. She was very welcoming with a smile and a greet when I came in to the location. Kenyatta is the definition of great customer service. Kenyatta will go far. She builds a relationship with her costumers. And the one thing I know is customers don’t pay companies, they pay people. Keisha and Krystal not gonna get far but Kenyatta Simply Amazing!!!

Some of their people are rude and try to dig into your business further than necessary. They also have a habit of selling lemons for cars and they break down so fast after you sign the papers and start paying and there is supposed to be a warranty but they never hold to it like they are supposed to. When they had my timing chain fixed they told me I owed $400+ when I should have only had a $75 copay. My car has broke down 3 times since then and is down now and they literally don't care. I do not recommend anyone to buy a car there.

This place is wonderful.. if you want cars that have multiple issues and staff that will talk about you as soon as you walk out the door. If the manager doesn’t like you, she will not talk to you. She has favorites that she will talk some to, and the ASSISTANT manager handles everything else. The assistant manager does more than Shonda (store manager) does. If you call up there and ask to speak to Shonda, chances are whoever answers will say she’s unavailable or in a meeting. She’s always available. If you have car trouble, you’ll get talked about for about 15 minutes, then they will unhappily assist you with your needs. Basically management (except for Gladys) is awful. Even office management. You’re better off going across the road to champion or anywhere else honestly. If you’re one of the “favorite” customers then good for you. But most customers get talked about and disrespected behind their backs. Collections though has two awesome women! Please think carefully before you purchase a car from this location!!
