Great sausage and cheese selection.

Jason Langille

I called ahead and said I would like to have some venison trimmings + 2 front shoulders (w/bone in) converted into summer sausage. I was told to bring it in. After a 30 min. drive I arrived at the shop and was told I needed to pay an $85 fee to have the front shoulders processed. Huh?! (Note: this is the price to have an ENTIRE deer processed) I then asked if they would pro-rate the $85 fee since I only had two, small, front shoulders. This was question was immediately met with an emphatic, "NO! We can't do that!" I walked out. A 1hr round-trip wasted. I won't go back due to the utter lack of customer service. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

JD Milburn

Good liver sausage. Blody mary beef sticks. Great wine selection

Susan Brisky

I stopped in yesterday to pick up a couple roasts and hamburger. Thank you for the great customer service. I have been purchasing my meat from you for about 6 years now. Thank you

Richard Merz

The staff are always very friendly to us. They sell alcohol, ice cream, cheese, and a variety of other items. They aren't cheap. They also give 5% off your bill for people open carrying or that present a CCW permit; I appreciate that common sense approach to firearms!.

Thieves! I received 50% to 52% of the hanging weight of my steer and hog that I brought in. I was told no, no, you did get the correct amount. Chris is a nice lady but I was taken advantage of, everyone I talked to told me I got screwed over. I am not one for complaining but after further review; I took a similar hog and steer to another butcher and I received 72% and 74% of the hanging weight with the same cuts of meat. Long story short, find another place to go to. My trust was ruined with this place and I won’t be back or recommend them to anyone. I drove far out of my for this place to support an independent but I just got screwed over in the end. I guess this must be how they are able to pay for such a world class clean facility.

Great meats and there service is great

We had Johnsons do 20lbs of canning meat for us. The lady promised it would be super clean; "as if I was cutting it myself", she said. Boy did we get f***ed. Three hours later I trimmed 5lbs of waste from our bulk meat. The meat was in huge chunks full of cartilage, hair, fat, grizzle, sinew, and dirt(I got pictures). I would challenge we did not receive the meat from the back straps, roasts, or steaks. Somebody else got some primo venison. I learned an expensive lesson this year. Hey Johnson owners, If you eat what I segregated, I may be back, otherwise I continue to ban your store and posts my pics.

We had a cow processed . We split it four ways and we were all suppose to get 192 pounds. They split it all up in fours and when we got back we only received approximately 122 to 130 pounds. We called them they couldn't answer any questions. They were suppose to call the next day but none came

They’ve always been friendly and helpful to me. Food is good quality and selection is wonderful. Also a great selection of wine, beer, and liquor.

NEVER GOING BACK! My husband went in and was screamed and sworn at. So we received a call that our deer was ready for pickup. When we got there he asked how much was here the checkout person then weighted it and noticed that there was around 15 lbs missing from what "should" be there. We brought in 30 lbs of trim and they double that to 60 lbs. So we paid for 60 lbs of sausage. We only got back 45 lbs of meat. We questioned this and a woman came from the back and started scream at us and swearing. She also seemed somewhat intoxicated at the time. She proceeded to tell us that we got what we got. No explanation to why it was 15 lbs short just that this is how it comes out. My husband asked for a refund for the 15 lbs we didn't get and she started swearing at him. We left without getting our extra meat or the money. Seems that we were in the wrong for taking it to Johnson's...This will be the last time we ever go there, along with all of my husbands hunting friends. What a rip off! I found out later the lady was the owner of the business named Chris. Apparently this isn't the first time she has done this. My friends said they have heard it multiple times from co-workers and others.

When I visit my family in Wisconsin I always go to this place the people i have met have been awesum and I always have to make a list of things to bring back to my friends in Connecticut, a have never had a bad experience and will be ordering from them soon as I have friends that enjoy the brauts and say they have never had better !!!!

If no stars was an option, that would be more suitable for this dump. Several of our customers who have purchased pigs from us and have had them processed at Johnson’s either get little to no meat back. They have even stolen a whole hog from our customers and claim they “have no idea where the meat went.” When questioned about these incidents, Chris is nothing but rude and ignorant on the phone and has no customer service abilities what so ever. Never will we ever do business with this unprofessional establishment ever again.

Will Bowe

I live in Eau Claire and drive to Milwaukee for holidays and always make it a priority to stop at Johnson’s on the way home. Bought a prime rib this time, and it has to be one of the top 5 steaks I’ve ever eaten. Tender, smooth fatty texture, and terrific flavor. Insanely friendly service too, treat you like a regular, would recommend this place to anyone for cheese, meat, booze, and hometown atmosphere!

Way over paid to have our pig processed. Tried something new and paid to much. Also took about 2 1/2 weeks to get back where are other processor took like 1 week. Also some of our meat wasn't vaccume sealed properly. Did like the smoked pork chop and different options but we sure paid for it.

These guys catered our wedding and they are FABULOUS. The food was wonderful and the people were phenomenal. Thank you for making my big day perfect!

Dacia Thomley

I just paid $15/pound for pulled pork! Seriously!? Prime rib is cheaper than that! Never going back! I asked them why the bbq pork was cheaper and was told "because it's bbq"...what? I feel like a complete idiot....wish I would've known that's what they charged before it was ordered. Ugh! They sure saw a sucker coming when I walked through the door!

Me and a few freiends bought a steer from a farmer that weighed 1150 lbs. We took it to Johnsons for processing because we heard good things. We were so wrong!! When we got our meat back, first they would not weigh it in front of us. When we got home there was only 90lbs of beef per qaurter. That 360lbs of meat total. I called three other places in the surounding area to see what a normal return is on a quarter and they all told me between 120lbs on the low end and 160 on the high end for a steer that size. Thats 120 to 200 lbs of missing beef. We tried calling and leaving messages and Chris, the owner, never called back. The worst place to go for processing!! I ended up paying $4.40 a lb. When the stores i would pay 3.15. I will never go back to Johnsons for anything again in my life!!

April Teweles

I had them cater my wedding and everybody was happy with the food and service. I have heard they have recently replaced a few people in their company which is why we probably had such great service and food and being surprised after reading the other reviews.

LOST CAPE - If I could vote for a zero stars I would. Let me first let everyone know this is the first review I have EVER written and the only reason I am writing this is so people don't get treated like I did and have to go through the same situation. I brought in a very nice 9 point buck in mid November during bow season around 8 o'clock at night. I live an hour away so it was a bit of a drive but I had no other choice as everything else was closed at the time, if I had waited until the next day none of this would have happened but then again the truth about what goes on at this place would come to light either. Anyhow, when dropping the deer off I specified I wanted it caped out they said not a problem, gave me the tag for getting it caped, put it on the deer and told me to take the deer out back and someone would be waiting for you. I drove around, dropped it off and watched some guy drag it into the back of the wear house. Little did I know that would be the last time I ever saw the rack. When I came to pick up the meat a couple months later I got all the meat back (not how I wanted but thats a whole different issue) and there was no cape to be found. They searched for awhile but came up with nothing. I texted the owner a picture of the deer so they could look at it and try to find it and they said they would call me the next day with results. About a week went by and I didn't hear anything so I ended up calling them. After a long heated conversation confirming that they had lost the cape I was accused of black mailing and I wouldn't receive any compensation for my lost cape. I argued more and the owner finally got her to agree to call other meat processing shops to see what they would do in this situation. About a month went by with no contact. Within that month I called several times and left messages but the owner magically always seemed to be "out" when I called. I finally got in touch with her and she again confirmed that they lost my cape (we had already discussed this once before) and I asked her what other meat processing shops had said. She said she never called any. I had done my own calling and out of the two places I called both said they would give me a refund and/or some type of compensation. After explaining this to her she said she would refund me the $40 for the cape and give me a gift card. It took her about a week to refund the money and if have yet to receive any gift card and I have no expectations of getting one at this point. I had to pry to get my $40 back and luckily didn't have to go to court for items I did not receive. For those of you that have read this far I strongly urge you not to go here. With the cost of the processing ($350) and the worst customer service I've ever experienced I will steer all hunting and farmers a like away from this shop. There are much more reputable places full of people willing to help you out unlike this one. I hope sharing this experience will save you from losing a cape and being treated with disrespect.

Jason Horstman

I have had nothing but great experiences coming here, the staff is always friendly the meats are always great and the selection is amazing. My personal favorite is the beef jerky they make it there fresh and it's amazing!

David Nelson

Great place to shop,friendly staff!

Luke Louison

We had to drive 45 minutes to pick up some beef. We called asking about their hours. The guy who answered, said if the manager showed up, they would be open all day, but otherwise, he'd keep it open until noon. We got there at 11. It was closed.

Marc Ganser

Chris the owner has been good to me and very helpful; she knows her craft and business. I enjoy cooking and it is good to know a good butcher who also a caterer...a great combination!

Kyle Homan

I had been using these guys for years to have my deer processed and was fairly satisfied with their quality. A few times there would be long processing times, but I came to expect that with the volume of deer they go through. However this last year all of the sausage I had made from them would spoil within a day of opening. I've had no less than 6 packs of hot sticks turn green within a day of opening. I don't know what went wrong but they have cost me a considerable amount of wasted money. More importantly the meat is ruined and that is a waste of an animal. I will never have them process my deer ever again and will instead be going to Stone Ridge Meats out of Wautoma.

First let me say it hurts writing this review. I had been going to Johnson's for 20+ years. I have never been to another processor in my 30 years of hunting and have always enjoyed the level of professionally processed venison. This is not the case any longer and will never step foot in this establishment again. I am trophy whitetail hunter and have multiple deer under my belt in the Pope and Young category. I say this not to credit myself but to explain that I understand sizing of deer and in particular, body size. The most recent deer I left at Johnson's was an extremely average 3.5 year old buck. Absolutely nothing special about the size of the body and in fact my daughter took a 2.5 year old deer and it was noticeably larger. The scam here is that you are told you have shot a "giant" whitetail and the levels of processing and meat are grossly exaggerated. In this case I was not asked how many pounds of the sausage and or sticks I would like so Johnson's took it upon themselves to convert basically my entire "giant" deer into sausage and sticks as this is by far the most expensive category of processing. When presented a $750.00 bill for processing a deer I about fell over. I had never spent more than 200.00 so I called of course. Management listed and said they would work with me. When the owner (Chris) got involved this was not the case. I was told that she could not help that I shot a "giant" whitetail and how would I like to pay. I of course tried to reason with her and she said i I could not afford it we could break the payments up, I could pay with a couple checks and credit card payments. Basically a payment plan for meat. Insulting! When I then tried to reason with her again she told me I was to pay in full or she would report me to the DNR for deer abandonment. When I asked the what the ramifications were for that she told me it was like leaving a deer in the ditch and I would lose my hunting privileges for (2) years and a get a $500.00 fine. This flowed from her like this had happened several times in the past. The owner was rude, and extremely bullish in her attach and mind you this took place the middle of her store. At that point i decided to let this go as her the (2) employees that were standing next to us look extremely uncomfortable. I do accept some responsibility in this situation by the way and offered to pay half of this unbelievable bill and this was not acceptable. In the end I got (6) boxes of venison. (60) pounds of sausage, (60) pounds of sticks, (6) pounds of jerky along with the back straps and tenderloins. So roughly 135 pounds of meat. Way more than any one deer could produce in the minds of not just me but all of the established hunters I brought this up to. The overwhelming consensus is that sausage is being added to your order for bulk weight processing increases and most would never know. Beware of this as it is very easy to do. In the end I will never step foot in this building again which is a shame. I have (4) hunters in my immediate family and the business they lost over something like this is substantial. Horrible experience to be treated like that and take advantage of.

I helped a friend last week with her canned meat she received from this establishment. She had 20 lbs to can and when I opened the packages I was shocked. I swear the meat came right from the dumpster. Three hours later we sorted 5 lbs of waste from the meat. All the meat was front leg trim and neck and rib trim. We are confident we did not receive the back strap meat, the roasts meat, or steak meat. I trusted Johnson's to give us "our" deer meat and not the trim from all the hunter's in southern Wisconsin. We took photos of 2 inch pieces of cartilage we segregated along with the grizzle, sinew, hair, and dirt. Yes....Dirt. We posted the photos on Facebook and within minutes the owners had them removed. I called and spoke to Chris (spelling?) and was bashed with obscenities and threats of legal action. Hey, this is social media, you use it, I put the truth out there. I froze the waste products if anyone wants a sample of Johnson's Sausage Shoppe can meat. Johnson's Sausage is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau but previous complaints have been filed; these can be read online.

JP Lanzhammer

Had a deer processed, purchased 20lbs of beef to mix in, only received 20lbs of burger. I must have brought in a chipmunk by mistake??

I have NEVER - EVER had a bad cut of meat from Johnson's. I have ordered whole pigs on several occasions over the years and bought halves of beef on a few occasions. The financial value was what peaked my interest but the packaging and the flavorful quality has kept me a dedicated and loyal patron. All the cuts suite my family size, and then shrink wrapped and labeled clearly.( Nothing is more irritating than a freezer full of "butcher paper-snowballs--we all know what I'm taking about.). Chris Johnson is a dedicated shop owner. Unlike most business owners, as the company becomes successful it is common to see less and less of the owners, but she is there 7 days a week with a hands on where needed attitude. I have read some negative reviews lately, and I am here to tell you they are NOT TRUE to the best of my knowledge, it is a ex employee that is spending more time belittling a difficult situation instead of being a mature adult and moving on. Please do not give credence to this petty behavior..

Owner is rude!

Fantasic service. Great sample bar. All around beautiful atmosphere and huge selection! Recommend thier homede salads to!

If I could give a negative review I would. We questioned the weight of the pig we brought in for slaughter and she never called us back for 3 weeks so I stopped in and owner was busy but she came to “talk” to me which was her being a rude, unprofessional, horrible person. Right away she got extremely defensive and argumentative. If I can’t guarantee that’s our pig I can’t sell it to my customers. Said she called us several times, I never had any missed calls or voicemails from her and never told me it was ready for pickup. I was told I had to pay for and take meat today or I would be charged for freezer space. Now all I have is expensive dog food. I will NEVER go here again and will make sure everyone I know knows how horrible of a business this place is. I’ve been told they steal meat or switch meat and didn’t believe it until it unfortunately happened to me.

Nice clean store with something for everyone

Matthew Proebstle

Fantastic products. We have our cows, pigs, sheep, and deer processed here. Price is competitive with other butcher's but their items are vacuum sealed and the seasonings and variety of choices are amazing. On the one occasion we had a mistake the owner resolved it quickly and fairly. Another instance I had an issue making my drop off date and they were understanding and adjusted the date to accomodate me. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

Horrible service. My best friend used them for catering, the owner Chris Johnson, was yelling and swearing at her employees and then started yelling at the bride! On her wedding day! I wouldn't recommend this place.

Worst experience i have had with getting my pigs proccesed was slow turn around time. Everytime I called to check in got a different story. Casting machine was broke I was told for a week. Finally got meat and notice 80% of pork chops were not vacuum sealed were thrown in bag and sealed loosely piss poor job. Called and talked to Chris and she told me to stop talking and was not polite at all towards me. Said she would send someone to my house to get chops to reseal. I am still waiting for Chris to get back to me and I know I'm getting blown off. Also feels like I got shorted meat as this is not my first set of pigs I have done. Their prices are way out their never will I go or give good word I'll stick with Lodi.

Charise Thideman

The prices weren't unreasonable - and the cranberry beef sticks were fantastic. Looking forward to getting home and getting some of the other things we got.

I love how Johnson Sauasage shoppe broke into my google account to leave themselves a good review under my name .As I was a former employee they must have got into my personal emails. I Caught it. Edit it and changed my password to my account. This place is a joke. Karma is all I can say

Prices are higher than other butchers for most things, service is decent (if you like being battered by employees about buying things when you insist that you're just looking MULTIPLE TIMES.) But naturally, I'm not one to judge until I see it for my own eyes but I had heard such horrible things about how the owner treats her employees. Never in all my years have I seen her speak down to someone like she does her own staff. I have always had wonderful experiences with the store staff! I hope nobody supports local business owners like this though! I will not be giving my business to someone so disrespectful to staff, let alone in the store!

talentedmouth82

The owner of this establishment showed be ashamed of themselves. I went in to look around a bit the other day on a whim and heard what I assume to be the owner, swearing and screaming at her employees. Just berating them like they were garbage. I will never recommend or go into this establishment ever again.

James Nieman

Been awhile but nothing but great service good prices.First time we stopped at old store bought about 25 pkgs of brats gave us a extra cooler and ice no charge, then stopped when new store opened chris remembered me and my wife gave us a tour of new facility and had some wine maybe too much with chris just great people highly recommend this place
