Great meat market. Was very busy at 2:00pm on a Friday afternoon. People know about this market and travel from all over. I came from Gig Harbor. Tremendous variety of meats. Got Elk steaks and Elk pepperoni - we always get our holiday rib roast from there. Worth the travel. Highly recommend this for meat lovers.

Can I give 6 stars. Butcher shop beautiful cuts of meat. Excellent variety of Bacon and sausage. Jerkey and pepperoni home made. Really good. I buy buffalo pepperoni and the cubed jerky. Good variety of lunch meats and cheeses. Prices are usually cheaper than the chain supermarket. It is usually jammed with customers. So grab you numbered ticket when you first enter the store.

Good prices on quality products, I always stop in when driving through for Landjagger, if nothing else! Staff all work hard to keep the line moving quickly via a "take a number" system. Check for specials on the reader board by the door (they had bags of frozen turkey giblets this weekend for less than 40¢ a pound). The meat and cheese "trail mix" packs (about $7.50 for a half-pound bag) were there Friday but sold out on Sunday afternoon). It's April and they have fresh Elk, see pick for 2018 prices.

This is a wonderful place to get great cuts of meat. They're usually busy, but get to you as soon as they can. Everything we've bought from there has been excellent- and the jerky is to die for. I had a specific recipe I wanted to make and didn't see the type of cut I thought I needed- the butcher was very knowledgeable, discussed what I needed and the different types, and was able to get it from the back and cut it to the perfect size. This is a fantastic, helpful, and awesome place to get something tasty!

Jeannie was so friendly and helpful to a first-time customer like me! She gave me several samples of the various types of jerky they make right there. (An astonishing range of meats, fresh or smoked, from the typical beef, chicken, and pork to the exotic alligator, ostrich, and wild boar!) Upon chewing the zesty Alder Garlic jerky, I deemed it the tastiest I'd ever had, and ordered it, until I bit into a nugget of Black Peppered jerky, which caused me to swoon in epicurean ecstasy! Jeannie observed my reaction, and asked me if I wanted to amend my order, which was exactly right! I also got several types of sausage, as well as some cheddar-bacon burger, which I'll be making tonight. Addendum: Hubby could not stop exclaiming "This is the BEST BURGER I've ever had!" I thought it was exceptionally tasty, myself! In addition to the vast assortment of meats, they have honey and trail mix; there's also a handy vending machine stocked with thirst-quenching beverages, after you've partaken of a plethora of salty treats. After mentioning my hour-long drive to arrive, I was also offered use of their rest room, which is somewhat of a mini-adventurous destination, in and of itself. (I appreciated the foot controls of the large sink.) The place is simple - mostly just one long meat display, and yet it's also full of character, including the well-seasoned owner of the joint, whom Jeannie pointed out. All in all, Stewart's tasty jerky, zesty sausages, drool-inducing hamburger and friendly service made my drive to Yelm well worth it!

I really wanted to like this shop, but unfortunately my first experience here was not a positive one. I tried to get a pound of flank steak for a dinner I was making for me and my wife, but the gentleman who was helping me refused to sell less than a bulk cut of the meat, which was 3 times more than I needed. I would have loved to support a local business today and for many years to come, but I hadn't figured how inflexible they would be with first-time customers. Beyond that, the shops smells awful and could definitely use a remodel. I ended up going to Safeway and got exactly what I needed without a fuss.

Best meat around! Small and smoky, and you will almost definitely have to take a number, but it's so worth it. Get some bacon. They also have breads, sauces, etc on a rotating basis as they are supplied, but they never run out of meat. Along with the regular stuff, they've got alligator, kangaroo, deer, rabbit, goat, etc. Anything you could possibly think of.

From everything I heard I'm finally at the front door, I open it up and it hits you instantly like Louisville Bat! The Smokey meats instantly make my Saliva glands release the Floodgates as my mouth awashes with wet fervor. The choices and selections are many. Some are very creative and others are very exotic like Emu and Alligator to Snakemeat. I feel like a Kid in a CandyStore. A Lion in a ButcherShop. Very fun and Unique experience and if you bring children they get a free Stewart's Pepperoni Stick. Those are flavorful and crackle and crunch like firecrackers. Family favorite is the homemade beef pepperoni!(3 months after original review) So I wish Google would let me leave more than one review because I cannot say enough good stuff about this place. I went in for steaks for a Valentine's dinner for my husband and I have never been that great at cooking steaks and I asked the employee what cut of meat I should get and the employee directed me to the best cut and how to prepare. It was better than the steak we had at an expensive restaurant. Seriously these people know their meats and have very high quality products.

I loved this place as a kid, when I would come in with my Dad and he would get half pound of beef jerky; and say don't tell your mother. Now this place is even more special because I can buy a pound of jerky and I don't have to share. All the cuts if meat are good, but the jerky is special. They even have some game meat too. Great butcher, great meat, and even better memories.

The real deal. Everything you think an old fashioned, professional butcher should be. They have everything under the sun, the best jerky you'll find anywhere, and a consistently busy shop. A good sign! High traffic means fresh food! They can put together custom meat packs, cut specific pieces for you on request, have both grain and grass fed beef (and soup bones), and have a whole slew of knowledgeable staff to get through the ever-present line. Just take a number, and be prepared to be impressed! These folks are old school and HIGH QUALITY.

The missed places just out standing. At this point I ate what decided on Jerky I grabbed 5 pounds 1 pound elk, 1 pound venison, 1 pound lamb, 1 pound garlic adder and 1 pound famous teriyaki. The alder was lite.salty to my taste but delicious.

Lady was rude on phone when I called about the Turduckens. Just wanted to know how big cause their website advertises it for $63.99. She stated that the average is 14 lbs. and they run about $90. I asked if they come any smaller. She said no and then hung up.

Okay, let me say up front this place may not be everyone's cup of tea. The building is old. The floorboards actually give under your feet. The equipment looks....ancient. But the place is packed. I mean it's full of customers, butchers, counter staff, carts of meat still in shipping cases, and wall to wall displays of most kinds of meat and meat products imaginable. Pork, beef, chicken? Of course. Buffalo, elk, rabbit, turkey? Yup. Salmon? Bien sur. Jerky, burger, custom, precuts, prime, you name it and they will have it. But the atmosphere is definitely early 1950s. Another cup please.

I've been going to Stewart's for years. I always get good quality meat there and the best beef jerky! I recommend it to anyone, though it can be a bit of a drive if you're not local. If it's crowded, take a number as soon as you get in, though usually their service is pretty speedy no matter how crowded.
