TL;DR (for all you ADD kids): BEST NEW YORK CHOICE CUTS EVER! Full review (for us pre-millennials): I'm definitely not new to the Owen's Meats experience as my now wife and I have been visiting on our excursions East since 2012. In fact, I make it a priority to plan trips around passing through Cle Elum JUST to stop in. Beef Jerky, Land Jäger, Summer Sausage, Smoked Brauts, we've tried them all. Last weekend we decided to grab a couple of steaks to take home and grill up for our 1 year anniversary. We decide to take home a couple of New Yorks. While I opted for some choice cuts, the gentleman behind the counter smiled and commented that they were closer to a prime cut. And he certainly wasn't wrong. Had them vacuum packed for our one more day camping along Lake Kachess and then took them home. It's Tuesday night, and I decided that one more Anniversary dinner was in order for my wife so I settle on grilling the two steaks and serving them on top of a red wine braised mushroom jus with some red pepper flake buttered asparagus. Grilled them mid-rare. Melt... In... Your... Mouth. Seriously. These rivaled any other steak I've ever had in a chop/steak house. I'd like to think it was my amazing combo of flavors in the marinade or the fresh thyme in the mushroom sauce but it was the cut itself. Best steak I've had. Period. As for Owen's themselves? EVERY time we stop in, we are greeted with some wonderful conversations, smiling faces and great recommendations on new places to visit in the area (I'm not revealing our hideouts, sorry) even when they are swamped with customers. Which seems to be always. I can't recommend Owen's Meats enough. Quality meat, wonderful service and always a reason for me to stop through Cle Elum.

Good selection of meats, fish, jerkys and special rubs. The Filet mignon or Filet mignon steak are think cut and delish. The smoked pork chops are really good. I was very excited to find out there are Owen's vending machines in seattle now, saves me 3 hours of driving. This place has been a staple of camping for years. I can't get enough of their frankfurter or beef jerky. The staff is always super knowledgeable and friendly. You can't beat their meat.

First time stopping in to purchase items. Wow, what a place. This is an old-style meat counter. Each customer is waited on buy a different meat cutter customer service representative. On a Saturday afternoon there was many customers and there was at least eight different customer service people helping. You can buy pepperoni salami other lunch meats bratwurst along with all the specialty cuts of beef pork lamb and chicken. I saw a kiosk vending machine in a gas station at North Bend. They told me they were opening an outlet store in Tacoma this spring. It is worth the trip to Cle Elum to find this meat shop.

Everyone has a place that they feel encompasses the things that they love and hope for. Truly a place that defines them. This may be a beach, a cabin in the woods, or a grandparents home around the holidays. For me, Owens meats is that new spot in my mind! I've been hearing about this place for years, and finally had the chance to stop in. Truly, this is my new safe space. Upon walking in, it's like being transported to a place where meat, cheese, beer and sauces rule the day and you get to partake in their glorious reign! The counter is 50 or so feet of beautiful cuts of beef, chicken and pork. One case is dedicated to cheese and another to dry cuts like prosciutto and jerky. We grabbed a prime filet, some smoked pork chops and a pound of a dried sausage called Land Jaeger. FACT - Land Jaeger from here may have been why the tongue was invented, or at least a consideration! It's probably the best sausage we've ever had...and these peeps love meat! The prime filet was as perfect as we'd hoped and the chops were magnificent! The prices are fair and despite your initial reaction to $17 per pound for Land Jaeger, get it! Four of us went through a pound and a half over a weekend and bought more for home on our way back! The meat vending machine outside and in 17 other places (soon to include Yakima) is ingenuity at its finest and is both brilliant and hilarious! This place is so epic we stopped in twice in 24 hours. You owe it to yourself to check it out! It'll make the most devout Vegan wanting more!

This is my Graceland! You know that one store that you HAVE to stop at every time you drive by? Owens Meats is now that place for me! Everything in here is amazing!!! They've got just about anything you want meat related, a lot of cheese options, a ton of beer choices. This was my first trip to Owens and I ended up leaving with a LOT of meat. I picked up the following: Smoked Porkchops - Get some of these! They are about 80% cooked and 100% delicious. All you have to do is warm them up and chow them down. I will pick some of them up every time I stop in. They are relatively cheap and are probably the best bang for the buck. Highly recommend! Bacon - They slice it how you want it. In my cake, THICK. Some of the better bacon that i've had....and I've been to Baconfest in Iowa on three separate occasions..... Kansas City Bacon - A fantastic, slightly leaner type of bacon. Very good and worth a try. Beef Jerkey - This barely made it home. Holy. Crap. This. Is. Good! Beef Sticks - They have a couple options. I recommend getting at least a yard of it....and get the one with cheese in it, unless you don't like freedom. Smoked Flagship Cheese - I'm not sure if they cold smoke this in house or if it come from beecher's Cheese like this. Either way, it's wild. Get it for you next get-together and you'll have a room full of happy people! While this was my first trip here, I've eaten several steaks from here - all were exceptional. If you can shell out the money, get some prime steaks and cook them medium rare. They don't come cheap, but there are few things in this world that are more delicious! Next time you are driving by, do yourself a favor and stop in! This place can get really busy in the weekends, so plan accordingly.

They do sell great meats. Customer service is well below average. Even tried calling the shop 3 times. No answer, went to voice mail after 5 minutes of ringing. As reported, tried 3 times. I guess they could care less for phone calling customers. Unless you are there in person, still not friendly. Their moto must be “push the product, screw the customer/owner or employees relationship. Disappointing.

This is only about the vending machine out front, I haven't purchased anything from inside. I swiped my debit card three separate times and only got one of the items that I wanted. The other two got stuck and wouldn't fall down. I went inside and waited to speak to an employee and was assured that if the item did not fall down I would not be charged. I was charged three times. I basically paid $18 for one bag of beef jerky. I wish someone would have just helped me get them out.... update on 7/15: still got charged for three items when I only got one. Not the end of the world but kind of frustrating. Wouldn't use the machine again for sure

We've been customers for over 30 years and have never had a less then perfect cut of meat. This is what a real old fashioned butcher looks like. Their steaks are amazing. Smoked pork chops are heavenly and beyond incredible. The pepperoni by the yard is so awesome. If you are a carnivore, this the ultimate experience. I highly recommend. The only negative for me these days is that I cannot breath well with asthma and cannot go in for long. My daughter goes for me nowadays.

This is an honest-to-gosh, old fashioned, "can I help you, Sir" over the counter meat market/butcher shop. You can get just about any cut of meat there and for a fair price. They have related grocery items, too. If you're younger than 50 years old and want to see how people bought their meat before you were born, then be sure to stop by Owen's Meat in little Cle Elum, Washington, just off the I-90 freeway between Ellensburg and Snoqualmie Pass. It's well worth the time. And if you feel like splurging, get some of their smoked pork chops. They are lean, tender, and Oh, So Delicious. Double Yum!

A few years ago, a friend at a mushroom foray recommend Owens Meat. Our group was camping at the time, and I needed something for our potluck. The several yard long pepperoni I purchased were a hit that evening. So flavorful, but not the burn your mouth kind. Ever since, I try to time my trips over the Cascade Mountains to coincide with their hours. It's location in CleElum, WA, just off I-90, makes it a good place to rest and stretch your legs while enjoying the other treasures of the town. Did I say bakeries? Owen's Meats also has a whole range of other meats as well, including smoked pork chops. Yummm³ !!! They consider themselves "The candy store for the carnivore."

Owens has the best sausage and beef jerky. My wife and I also love the smoked Gouda cheese from here. My uncle just came up from Las Vegas and we had to make the 3 hour trip with him from spokane to Cle Elum to get jerky and landjaeger. Everything thing I have had from here as been of very high quality. I used to order my sausage and other meats from a place in Texas tell I found Owens Meats about 10 years ago. Now I stop here about 3 times a year and stock up on the mild German sausages and grandpas sausage and steaks. Looking forward to getting there prime rib for this coming Christmas.

To say that the quality of the meat and the customer service are booth superb in a vast understatement. The quality of the meat is road trip worthy anywhere within a day's drive. I consider myself a connoisseur of beef jerky and the jerky here has the best taste HANDS DOWN* (this is a meaty jerky and dry, tough jerky is my preferred texture) Ethan was tremendously helpful and even recommended local events and my wife and I were able to catch the High Country Log Competition. Owen's has a lifelong customer now and their quality and Ethan are to thank for that. Not to mention the kind gentlemen that stopped me in the parking lot to share his amazing horseradish cheese he shared with me. I love Cle Elum & Roslyn.

We always enjoy going and getting steaks from Owen's Meats when we visit Suncadia. The meats are always very good, but it can get busy and service is hit and miss. Also, they have items they do very well (steaks, rib roast, marinated chicken) and others that they do okay (pepperoni, jerky, sausages, etc. - for these go to Glondo's). Overall we always enjoy the food we get and prepare from Owen's, but expect a wait and the prices are sometimes higher than you would expect.

On Saturday we arrived right at 6pm when they were closing, lights off and meat displays all covered up and they still happily let us in, let us take our time and were entirely helpful and service oriented. I emailed them through their website about 2 weeks ago asking about one of their products (couldn't find a product listing on their website). I used to pick up a couple yards of their pepperoni now and then years ago when I would be passing by on my way to Seattle from Yakima. I live in Spokane now and thought it would be a fun road trip for me and the kids to head over that way and stop in and get some of that pepperoni. I just wanted to know if they still sold it. Never heard back from them. I could have called but an email is simpler and I work long hours. Just thought it was strange they never answered. So simple to answer an email. I've been coming here for over 30 years. No matter where I move and what meat I have this place and their employees are absolutely the best. I was on my way to Shanghai China to visit my brother and bring him some cured meats, I didn't even finish my question and one of the twins knew exactly what I was going to ask and packed it right on the spot. Place really was like a candy store for a carnivore. We were camping and decided to stop here specifically because I’ve had their product from vending machines before. We got the franks and pep sticks by the yard. What a great deal! Got about five yards and it did not take us long to eat! Now we are talking about stopping in Cle Elum whenever we can.
