The one on Rosewood, near Francis, is SOOOOO much better. The beef jerky and the pepperoni is way better. I spent $30 on half a pound of jerky and half a pound of pepperoni sticks and I'm not even going to eat any of it because one bite in it was horrible. I don't know what they do differently there, but it's actually really gross.

Super friendly, knowledgeable, and super high quality meats. We have the rib steak every Wednesday night, all the bacons (yes, plural kinds!) are amazing, lamb and veal fresh and tender. Our Thanksgiving fresh turkey was out of this world delicious, juicy and tender. The specialty meat freezer is a treasure trove of delights. I feel good buying my family's meat here and appreciate this shops commitment to quality and service. Highly recommended!

Bought an 18lb prime rib for Christmas, it was great. Decided to go back to get some baby back ribs. All they carry are Kroger brand prepackaged ribs. If I wanted Kroger ribs I'd just go to Fred Meyer and buy them straight from the manufacturer (Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger). Butcher tried telling me those are the best ribs you can get, yeah right. Previously frozen Kroger ribs, the best????

Egger's is the best place to buy meat on the South Hill. While it can be more expensive than grocery store butchers, there is no doubt the quality and freshness is better. Steve Egger, the owner, seems like he's always there. Super friendly guy and always willing to answer any questions and guide you in the right direction. His sons have worked there at different times in the past and are always friendly and knowledgeable as well. I used to buy skateboards and longboards here when I was younger; they quit selling them probably 7 years back, but I have so many memories at this place. I love their jalapeño bacon, jerky, lil smokies, pepperoni sticks, and most of all, the SPICY LANDJAGER! So good. You feel like family here.

This is to replace my prior review, which I deleted... Egger Meats restored my trust with my recent experience. Great customer service and friendly staff. Prior had probably caught them on a busy moment and had a less than friendly experience over the phone. This time complete opposite. They are great business and nice to have them on South Hill.

I have had only great experiences here. Steve and his crew treat my young kids like family, and has always offered us fantastic service. We recently purchased a 1/2 beef (half a cow cut and wrapped) and even after years of great service we were still pleasantly surprised by our purchase. We had purchased a 1/2 beef from another local group previously, and we found that Steve on the South Hill delivered better meat, that was wrapped better and met EVERY specification that we requested. I recommend them highly. We live on the north side and travel across town to shop here. It’s worth it! Thanks guys!!

They have great service with delicious meats! My husband and I go there around Thanksgiving time every year for the summer sausage and pepper jack pepperoni sticks! Typically we walk in and there's a line of people but we're always helped right away and at the register in no time. If you ever have a question about a meat, they're more than happy to answer any questions.
