After a first visit I am not sure what the high ratings are all about. When I go to any Whole Foods (not my first choice) the folks behind the counter love to talk about where the meat is sourced, long it aged, the different grades, and they usually have a good selection of cuts of beef. I went to B&E in hopes of a wider range of cuts and knowledgable butchers. Price wouldnt have mattered. What I found were fewer choices and an indifferent guy working the counter. Was he even a butcher? Doubtful. When asked the difference between two options he merely stated, "one's prime the other is choice." Labels had nothing as to source, aging or feed. "Butcher" had nothing to add. Next.

Very wide variety of products, but a little spendy. Few to no humanely sourced, local, or organic/grass-fed products. (I did see grass-fed ground beef and a selection of wild caught fish there.) On the Saturday that I visited, there were several samples of their meat and seafood products to taste. Overall, definitely worth a visit do try something new.
