The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service experienced was all quite nice, but the quality of the food is sub par. Spending $50+ for a steak, you would expect it to be cooked properly and at least SEASONED. Since the chef is in the middle of the restaurant we noticed that the steak was pulled straight out of the fridge, never seasoned, and thrown straight on the grill. Pulling a steak straight out of the fridge onto the grill will cook the outside faster than the inside, preventing the steak to cook evenly throughout. Had to eat around the raw/chewy pieces in attempt to try and enjoy the $50+ steak.

The Steaks are way overpriced for the quality you get. Ordered a medium rare steak initially, got the steak back medium well. Sent it back and got another steak cooked nearly raw. Restaurant was quiet and not even busy. Would not recommend here for any kind of steak.

Very spendy if you're there for dinner. We waited a while for our entrees, and someone in our (admittedly very large) group had problems with their takeaway desserts, but the New York strip I had was very good, even with the long wait for it. Waiter was friendly, and went above and beyond to give us a good experience.

Good food, but i was called out in front of my party for not tipping 20% and the server who called me out was extremely condescending ("thanks for being teachable", "just take the first two numbers..."). First time in years I've left 0 tip. Edit from after I wrote this: apparently she told one of the party as we were leaving that he "needs to teach his homies how to tip properly."

Yesterday was my Birthday and my first time at The Butcher Shop, I enjoyed it and will return. Staff was nice, the atmosphere was pleasant. The steak and shrimp was excellent. The lobster was smaller than expected for the price, the taste was good, but not great. As stated earlier I will return.

The freshest salads and great service! Obviously they are a steakhouse but I love their bread and garden salad. This place also always makes a great Cosmo. My husband loves their steaks and pork chops. They also have salmon and chicken on the menu as well as a very expensive vegetarian pasta. Most steaks are over $30 and ala cart. For a salad & cosmo for me and a steak, pot., side salad and 2 beers for my husband and one piece of cheese cake about $85 before tip.

Amazing is litterally how I would describe the food and service. I went for my four year anniversary and we had a marvelous time. We both had the Tennessee sours which were great and then the spinach dip as an appetizer. Entrees were salmon for him and shrimp pasta for me which was so huge I didnt even finish it. For dessert we had the creme brulee which is to die for. We spent under a 100 and have plenty of left overs. Our servers were amazing and definitely on top of everything. We will be back for sure!

I go here monthly for a business meeting with a large group. Staff is always friendly, steak is delicious. Don’t forget to show up on Friday for their burger buffet during lunch. It’s so good that line is out the door, but it moves fast.

What a wonderful place, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They cook the food right in the open so you can see your food being prepared. They steak was cook to perfection over the Tennessee coal which gave it an amazing flavor together with just the right amount of spices. This place is a must if you come to Memphis!!

Fresh burgers at lunch were excellent! Didnt realize the burger bar went up in price. Used to be able to get burger, fries and drink for $7.95, now the burger cost $7.95, the fries are $2.95, and the drink is $2.95 for grand total of almost $15. Food was really good but will not go every Friday.

It was my first time there and it was a great experience, our server was a young lady (Mexican) didn't get her name she's small in size, but very attentive to our needs. We had a party of 13 in the section to the left as soon as you come in. The lights went out and it cause the credit card machine to go out, other than that we had no issues we will be back for sure.

Visit this place with my granddaughters and a friend. Waiter and service was fine. I ordered the lamb and asked to have it lollipop cut. The server didnt know what that was and they didn't do that. So I ordered grilled chicken alfredo. On one strip of red pepper was a yellow store code tag. Evidently they do not wash their veggies thoroughly. I told one of the guys in the light blue shirts what happened. He didn't apologize and anything. Food overpriced. I'll stick with Outback for my "lollipop cut" lamb.

Order a piece or top sirloin for $25.96 came with salad, loaded bake potatoes for a side and perpercoin sauce. Didn’t want the salad and the bake potatoes and got the Soup and Asparagus instead. End up paying $39.89 because the Soup was 4$ extras the salad was 4$ extras and the peppercorns sauce was 4$ extras. Talk to the manager he said the reason they don’t let people know about it because it might offend them to let people know the price ahead. Will never be back... I guess that why they call it the Butcher Shop.. Because they really Butcher your wallet ... disgusted.

Get the filet and ask for a side of wham. Also can't go wrong with the creamed spinach and twice baked potato. I've been to much more expensive steak houses in Memphis and their filets were no better. Only negative would be the quality of the salads, but they are included with entrees.

If I could say 0 Star I would. This is the 2nd bad experience I’ve had with this place so of course I won’t be trying them again. The 1st one was we went there as a family of maybe 20 guests and everything we tried to order they would say we don’t have anymore and this was like right after Sunday service which had to be around 1 or 2pm so how could they possibly be out of food and then on today I had reservations for party of 14 only to find out when my family get there they tell them we don’t have reservations for a private room then somehow the Manager Earnest, I believe his last name is Hughes, finds my name and tells them do y’all know how much y’all have to spend back there in that room like we don’t have money or something as well as tries to make sure we don’t stay by saying well she, which was me, didn’t speak with a manager as well as we couldn’t have our balloons. The balloons weren’t a problem but the belittling was a very big problem. The problem was the fact the he made it seem as though we couldn’t afford to eat there, if we couldn’t afford it we wouldn’t have made plans to have a birthday dinner there. I’m not sure who the owner is but he/she most definitely needs to reassess who they hire as a manager because surely Earnest is not it but then again sounds like he may have his picks on who he thinks can and cannot afford to eat at their establishment, but that was my last time going there.

Seems as if you'd look over your shoulder to see Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin having a drink. Dark woods, low lighting, and the smell of the grill add to the charm.

The Friday Burger Lunch is easily the Best Burger in Memphis. Only available on Friday at Lunch because burgers are made of Steak scraps accumulated during the week from Butcher Shops main forte. The Friday Burgers are big and juicy and delicious and cooked right in front of you after you have gone through the line and dressed your choice of several bun types with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, long-sliced pickles, red onion, and condiments. Our group was at the Butcher Shop on Friday mid day. Many of us choose the Burger Bar had more than just burgers. I had the Cajun catfish; very good but it was a small filet. There are several side items available for an extra charge. Despite a long line when I entered, the service was extremely speedy.

First thing I want to say it was a very romantic seating with low lighting and fireplace where we were seating. Although, they had bar and sports on TV it was in another area. The only thing I can say about this place that I would change is to have more sides offer to choose from. Also, to have ability to substitute the side out. My friend doesn't eat salad and wanted to exchange for another potato and wasn't allowed to. So something that comes with meal was taken away without a opportunity to have a exchange. Other than that, the waitress Kim was great, food was great, cooked perfectfully came out in a reasonable time. I wish I would have taken a picture to allow you to see what this pretty juice 20 oz T-bone steak looks like!

Hey guys Jess here so tonight I was in the mood for steak so we went to the butcher shop. Walking in there is a nice ambiance it’s dark but not too dark. Great for date night. The food was phenomenal and so was the service. It’s a little pricey but well worth it. Only thing if you want your steak med well well with little to know pink just say well done lol!! I had a little too much pink but still managed to eat the steak for an appetizer we had the Cajun shrimp which was absolutely delicious and he had the grilled chips and they were superb the loaded baked potatoes never disappoints! I will definitely return.
