As for the restaurant: Hands down, some of the best brisket I've ever eaten. Portion sizes are great, and the price is reasonable. It's not super-cheap eating, but hey, you get what you pay for. I will pay for quality, and this place sells quality. As for the meat market: Great selection. Purchased some ribs at a discount price. Turned out great. Had a nice variety of other meats that aren't so common as well (quail, etc.). Nice sauce and rub selections, too. Seriously, this is a worthy stop if you're in the area. Have stopped back in several times over the past few years.

Went into store today to make purchase and lady that was supposed to be helping was in the back. When called to help she yelled back she was busy. Good Texas style food. Lots of meat. I had the 2 meat and 2 sides meal with cornbread. They give very generous portions. The brisket and sausage are both good. The sausage has a little kick. Also the cheesy ranch potatoes are awesome! Friendly service. You may have to wait a while in line at peak times. However it is worth the wait.

The long lines are absolutely worth the wait. The food is phenomenal and the prices are beyond fair for the generous portions that you receive. We also purchased fresh meats from the butcher shop and we're not only impressed with the flavor but, the prices were fantastic as well. The brisket is one of the best we've ever had. This place is like Mecca for meat eaters, or at least it should be. The brisket in the restaurant is just perfection, and the same goes for everything I've ever bought in the store (mostly jerky). Don't think for a second that all the 5-star reviews are just from country folks supporting a local business or who don't really know any better. This place is truly exceptional, and I feel bad for all the people who drive by on Hwy 43 and never know it's there (since it's so good they don't even need to advertise). I live in Chattanooga, but I'll find reasons to drive between Nashville and Muscle Shoals just to be able to stop here.

We've only been here twice, but they have turned myself and my Wife into life-long customers. Both times the place was packed... with a line all the way out the door. I am not one to stand in line for food, but let me tell you... I'd stand barefoot in the snow for Shaffer's brisket! Portions are generous, and the prices are very fair. Service is professional, and the place is spotless. I highly recommend stopping by!

Mid afternoon Thursday visit and every bite of meat was still moist, hot and smokey goodness. The ladies serving us were friendly and knew their products inside and out. The retail area had lots of unique meats, sauces, jerkies and homemade pies. It was a delightful ride on the motorcycle down from Nashville on backroads and the great meal was worth it!

The brisket and the chopped pork were very good, and others in our party who had the pork ribs said they were tasty. However, as a Texan whose family settled in Texas before it became a state, I can say without a doubt the bbq sauce was way too sweet to be considered Texas bbq sauce. The Tennessee hot vinegar sauce was also sweet but had a nice bite and flavor. We all enjoyed the ranch potatoes but said the baked beans were also too sweet. Everyone there was very helpful and kind, and we truly enjoyed our experience. I was very disappointed, though, that they didn't have beef ribs like County Line in Austin or State Line in El Paso, but the owner is from Corpus, so I'm sure the bbq in that part of TX is just different. We also bought some big t-bones, thick cut, and lamb shanks. I can't wait to start smoking and grilling them (charcoal grill, baby!). If you're in the area then this is definitely a good place to stop for delicious food and excellent meat at great prices.

The food is delish! I love the ribs. I can't get them in my mouth fast enough. My family gets the brisket. Almost as good as the food is the banter that the staff has behind the counter. I love listening to them give each other a hard time. They make the whole experience for me. They are so funny! You can really tell that they enjoy working with each other and enjoy making and serving up the best food. My family eats here at least once a week! Totally worth the wait because you get dinner and a show. Last time we went the guy told us that he was sorry for the long lines and that we should all try to just hug it out. I laughed so hard!

We happened to drive by & stopped to eat after seeing all the amazing reviews. Our experience wasn't great at all. The brisket was dry, potato salad was luke warm, the beans were gross & so was their patented bbq sauce. Now I understand that flies get into a restaurant, but it felt like we were at a picnic there were so many of them. It was so bad I'm now grumpy after spending $30.

I visited Shaffer's for the first time on Saturday January 20. On a recommendation, I ordered the beef brisket plate with two sides. I also ordered a side of smoked sausage. The two sides I ordered were green beans and white beans. I also got a dessert---cherry pie. Long story short: This was one of the BEST meals I've ever had in my 39 years on Earth! DAYUM, it was freaking amazing!!!

This is truly a barbecue joint and it is excellent! You'll have to drive down past Murray County into Lawrence County to get here... But it is worth the drive! The staff is friendly quick and efficient and know what they're doing! We enjoyed a barbecue pork plate with white beans and slaw as well as a brisket plate with slaw and green beans. Yes, you do want the jalapeno and onion on the side!

The food was good but I am not usually a big brisket person. The service was fast and they had lots of options. Didn't check out the butcher shop much but it looked clean and organized.

EAT HERE ALL THE TIME BEST BRISKET STRAIGHT FROM TEXAS TO TENNESSEE. They are a full butcher shop and serve plate lunches and have the best brisket and smoked Turkey and chicken around. This places been on Tennessee crossroads T.V. and everybody from Luke Bryan to Charlie Daniel's frequents this place for a great meal. You can get everything from alligator tail to fish to seafood to beef fresh butchered here. If you're anywhere within a 100 miles you need to come visit this place you will not be let down we absolutely love it lip smacking good.

Very good!!! I ordered a bbq chicken platter with a corn bread fritter, seasoned green beans, and ranch potatoes. Chocolate Chess pie for dessert. The chicken was a bit off-putting to look at, it was a whole small chicken. But once you get past the appearance and just cut in it tastes amazing. The ranch potatoes were to die for! Don't let the jalapenos fool you, it's not really that hot. I have a very low tolerance for spice but the ranch potatoes were still amazing. The pie, green beans, and corn bread were all amazing too! You can tell everything is fresh and local. It's great. Totally recommend. Going back again soon.
