I really like Publix. Everyone I know that lives outside the Southeast misses it. Great subs. Great sushi. Friendly Staff. I like how the organic food is put next to the less healthy options instead of having an organic section.

As a former associate, they don’t treat staff well. They’re expected to be emotionless robots that force smiles for every individual that comes around, whether they’re on a register standing in one place for hours on end or stocking on the busiest days with trucks coming in and Wednesday discounts bringing hordes of customers through. The management will cut hours, deny raises, and threaten even the best employees with sanctions if they’re not getting enough donations for whatever charity they’ve got going on, most of which don’t even use 10 cents on the dollar that you donate for the actual cause they’re “supporting”. A large percentage of customers also treat the staff as if they’re dogs, and throw tantrums if they don’t get their way. It’s usually the older customers throwing the tantrums though, the younger customers are always understanding, but it’s somehow the millennials that are the problem around here. Oh, and don’t bother trying to get full time work, they’ll tell you that you have to “earn” a full time position, but they won’t tell you how exactly to step up your game even if you excel at your job. Upward mobility is also ridiculously narrow or nonexistent, since incumbents rarely move up or step down, and even if you do get promoted you typically have to relocate to another store instead of being able to work with the crew you’ve worked with for ages and built a certain camaraderie with. Publix overall is great, but this store is an anomaly. After having been to a few stores in different cities and states myself, it’s pretty strange to see employees that are genuinely miserable at their jobs.

I regularly purchase precut fruit from the produce section here. A couple of months ago I mentioned to a manager that the fruit containers were not being properly sealed. As a result, the packages pop open from the back, leaking everywhere and ruining my reusable grocery bags. If the product is not being properly sealed, that means the plastic clamshells are sitting open on the shelf for a number of days, exposed to bacteria with the potential to make people sick. Not only is this a messy inconvenience, it is a public health hazard and needs to be corrected! Unfortunately, it hasn’t, because these pictures were taken just a few days ago. I could literally lift the entire lid off the container. Notice how the plastic tab on the front is completely intact. The fact that this is still a problem deeply concerns me. From now on, I’ll do my shopping somewhere else, and advise my friends and family to do the same.

But the staff was overly friendly and helpful. The location was clean and well stocked. There was lots of activity for right before the holidays and there was an abundance of items to choose from. There where on site extras such as people making recipes to be able to try for the holidays.

My wife ordered some groceries from publix (we get our groceries from here every week) via instacart. Instacart was very rude to my wife and the store solved the issue for us. I love this place. I haven't had a bad experience here yet. Thank guy alot for having an amazing service.

Went there this AM. When I went to checkout the checkout lady and the bagging lady were deep in conversation and barely recognized that I was there. They continued their conversation during the entire checkout procedure. I actually had to tell them "thank you" before they would acknowledge my presence. I am a visitor to this area and can tell you I will not be going back to this store.

The Publix Sub Foot long is now 25% smaller in size. They look like a skinny torpedo. Asked why and no one could tell me. I’m sure I know cause that is less bread and condemns at the the same price. What a shame on down sizing their sub’s.

They suspend their employees for taking care of a family emergency (after saying that it won't count against them), write them up for using the restroom more than once in a 10 hour shift, and will cut them down to 10 hours a week over nothing. What a horrible way to treat your employees. I was a loyal customer until this past year after hearing the same stories from several different employees. Looking forward to shopping elsewhere.

I had a terrible first experience. I'm new to south Carolina and loved the calm alternative to Florida. The store was orderly and had our favorite chocolate chip cookies at the bakery which i highly recommend They come in a bakers dozen. Only buy if they are very light and even if you're not a major chocolate chip cookie lover you won't regret it :) My husband and I enjoyed our experience until check out. I like to bring my own cloth bags and I suppose either the lady was offended by this or it was more likely my skin tone. I do have a Spanish background. She did not greet us and was annoyed that we were there . To top it off she asked if we had WIC. There is nothing wrong with WIC I believe if a family does need help it's better to feed your children but praise God we are well off at the moment. This was condescending and uncalled for. Although she had treated us this way I still bid her a good day. Due to this experience I will continue my business as well as refer family and friends to The Fresh Market a little further down or frankly anywhere that our business will be appreciated.

Publix is a very nice store and I like shopping there when I can. It's a bit on the expensive side for most of the items I buy except my dog food. They have a great selection of freshpet. The only reason for the 3 star review is the rather awful customer service I got there the other day. The dog food case was empty and no one seemed to care to help me find out when they would be back to refill. Just got the "I have no idea" answer and a blank stare. Had to come back to check for myself the next day. Wouldn't have minded at all if they had made any effort to help even a little bit. The managers just weren't interested and wanted to get back to their conversation. But Publix, in general, is a great, well organized, very clean store and the checkers are very friendly.

I placed an order with the bakery a week in advance and upon picking up my order I discovered it was incorrect. They had my order and phone number for a week and could at any time called and informed me that they could not complete my order as requested. Being crunched for time I had no choice but to go with the wrong order. They said they were unable to color whipped icing which I find hard to believe since bi-lo, and Kroger both can. I was just very dissatisfied with how they handled the situation.

Not sure what is happening at this location. They stopped selling (for the third time in four years) the organic oatmeal I use as a critical part of my diet. I tried to place a special order through the store, but I have yet to hear back if the store was able to order it. So I will now have to drive to Earthfare in Augusta. Also, the store has been out of stock on the brand of crackers I use. Lately, the store has been slack managing the front end of the store by not having enough cashiers available. Publix has always been the stand out for excellence in grocery stores, but over the past few months, that reputation is in danger of fading away here in Aiken.

If I could give no stars I would. I went to get a sub. I asked for boar's Head meat, she said no then she added no because she would have to cut some and didn't want to. When she could tell I was annoyed she got an attitude and told me she would just go cut the boar's Head. I told her no. When you are paid to do a job don't get an attitude about having to do said job. I absolutely will not come back to this place.

Went to the deli to order a sub for the first time and asked for Italian bread, the lady told me there was no such thing as Italian bread below the Mason Dixon Line, and that I wasn't making any sense. So I left and went to Sub Way and enjoyed my sub on ITALIAN BREAD.

An excellent grocery store. Publix has a great selection and variety of products, as well as free cookies for the kids. They can be a bit pricey if you're just buying straight off the shelves, but they have some spectacular deals and penny items. If you buy on sale, they run some really awesome discounts and deals.
