Great burger.

I loved the poutine. Nice cocktails. Laid back and unpretentious.

Augusta MacDonald

Poutine is hands down amazing.

Carl Alguire

Fresh local MEAT!

The last time we went it was better, but we stopped going months ago because it was inconsistent with food quality and sometimes just a bad experience. That being said, when they first opened and for a while after that, it was the BEST. We’re hoping it is getting back to where it was before because it really was great and there have been improvements.

Brandon Pyles

Third time here since they opened and I have yet to be disappointed. The space feels very much like a small NY deli cafe. Small area for seating and a small bar. Service has always been on point. Food has been excellent and is reasonably priced. Favorites include the Mac-n-cheese small plate, bacon hushpuppies and the Cuban sandwich. Meats are always well prepared and they have a specials board that has been delicious every time. Just a couple blocks to the main West Avl area of shops/bars/ice cream.

Joe Hood

Meh! Burger did not have much flavor. We got the breakfast and there take on sweet potato chips are two pieces of thick sliced unseasoned sweet potato slices. Don't forget the upcharge for scrambled eggs.

Mark Manguno

Ate here one day after spending over $200 at one of the fanciest steak houses in Atlanta. This was a better meal, for half the price. We had two of the butcher's cuts: a Tri Tip and a Denver. The steaks and the sides were delicious and it was more than enough food. Our server, Corey, was outstanding. This was one of my best restaurant experiences to date.

Really nice staff. Clean. Didnt eat but it looked great. Cocktail was excellent.

This is the best food stop I made in Asheville, which is saying a lot. I got the butcher board to sample their offerings and it did not disappoint. The fries are also amazing. They also have some local beers and ciders available.

Alex Wilson

This place has really good burgers, and they fry their fries in tallow, which I love. However, I advise against trying their poutine. Instead of being in a rich gravy, it’s ima. Demi glaze that tastes like better than boullion mixed with bbq sauce and soy sauce... also, I hope they use organic flour in their buns, because I am so sick of eating glycosphate-laced flour

Barbara Norrell

Food was good and the wait staff was great.

This place is great! Haven’t had anything I didn’t like. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The Sunday brunch is the best breakfast I’ve had in town. I prefer it to Sunny Pointe. I just wish they served their brunch menu on Sundays too. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you're thinking about it!

What a delightful little spot!

Asheville the most casual place in town to get a high quality steak and cocktail or a hot dog and a beer

Cameron Miller

This place is a joke!!! Went for lunch they have a very limited menu for a butcher's shop looked over the menu which was overpriced but the bartender told us how amazing the $12 bbq sandwich that was the lunch special was so we ordered those and as soon as it hit the table I felt ripped off I was literally like a high school cafeteria bbq sandwich it was literally on the buns you get at ingles for 99 cents with plain jaine slaw the bbq wasn't even that good and it was tiny but they threw a load of fries on the tray I guess to make you think you got a decent meal! We drank water and our check was $26 for 2 tiny "lunch specials" atleast throw a drink in for that price! I won't go back to get ripped off again...

Cuban, Ruben, burger - basically all the meats are delicious and the quality is unbelievable.

Kathleen McReynolds

This burger!!!! And the fries are amazingly flavorful without any sauces.

Chandler Brewer

Cool and unique atmosphere with great tasting food. The products in the meat case looked fantastic also, look forward to bringing home some of those cuts to grill!

Kristi Newton

Oh my goodness. The brussels sprouts. Get the brussels sprouts! Our group of six came in and was able to sit immediately at the bar. The staff was super friendly and the bartender took exceptional care of us. The bologna melt was surprisingly amazing too. I just wish I lived in town so I could come again!

Go here for brunch! The butcher biscuit breakfast sandwich with chicken fried steak was to die for!

Ryan Mayo

Great food, beer, and service. Can't wait to go back.

Scott Stevens

Top notch meats, great preparation, and a good drink selection. Not great for kids just because of how grown up the menu is, but delicious.

Matt

Great burgers. Top notch service by John. Bumped into John around town the next day and he extended his welcome to Asheville. Back home hospitality like his is scarce. Foothills was a slam dunk for me.

Jennifer Winchell Denson

This was delicious. Had the best hamburger I've had in a long time. My husband (who is notoriously picky about Cuban sandwiches being from South Florida) said his Cuban was amazing and authentic. Cocktails were also very tasty and service was quick and kind. Will definitely go back when we're visiting Asheville again. We ate at some of the more popular restaurants while there and this was our best dining experience.

Scott Glicksberg

Owen Cauley

Delicious food, solid bar selection with enough amaros and liqueurs to make most any classic cocktail, friendly staff. Plus, you know, MEATS

Vicky Ruth

It was a good meal but my tri tip cut was mostly fat. Disappointing considering the cost. I like the setup and decor. Lots of options. I’d go back but wouldn’t order steak again.

Our first visit. I thought the wait staff was outstanding. I found my hamburger (Foothills Burger) to be pretty good, but I didn't think it was anything outstanding. I really felt I could tell a difference in the beef tallow fries from "normal" french fries. They were good. Of course, I can't give a review without mention the prices. $14 for a double cheeseburger was a bit much. Would I go there again? Probably, but when the hamburger isn't that different from a McDonalds hamburger at 1/3 the price, it will not be on our normal rotation of restaurants in Asheville.

First time visiting here. Service was great, atmosphere was relaxed. They offer a selection of drinks from the bar, but we stuck to water. We ordered the cuban with tallow fries (fries were delicious) and the reuben with sauteed brussel sprouts. For $14, the cuban was delivered without all the ingredients and the meats were so smokey and salty, it overwhelmed other flavors, like the Lusty Monk mustard. For $14, the reuben came with an underwhelming three thin slices of pastrami, but the flavor was still right. For an additional $3 charge, the sauteed brussels were practically raw and delivered with clumps of minced garlic, way too much. Not quite edible. I suspect if we stuck to the main fare (burgers, steaks, and hotdogs), it would have been much better. The pricing here is not terrible, but it's a bit on the high side, and also strange. Meal prices don't seem to add up right, and some items can cost quite different amounts depending on how you order. Not recommended for those looking for a great deal, except perhaps the specials. There is a locals night on Tuesday that presents some good deals and looks fun.

It was very good. The burger was delicious the fries were crisp and wonderful.

Christa Flores

The mini cheese burger is perfect! This place is a west asheville treasure!

Stacy Tiffany

Had the butcher’s biscuit platter and the veggie bowl, and started with the butchers board. The charcuterie board was great especially the beef summer sausage and pastrami. I had the veggie bowl and it was delicious! (Sounds illy to get veggies at the butcher shop but it was so good)

Gail Jackson

Friendly, comfortable and the pork chop sandwich is amazing!

Woody Feffer

Foothills already had my heart with it's "truck" down at the Hi-Wire Bigtop, but when I heard they were opening a real restaurant and it was going to be around the corner from my shop.... well I was stoked! My first meal was on their second day open and I was not disappointed! General Tso's Pork Belly, traditional Italian Meatballs, a side of home made picked veggies and a killer Pumpkin Panna Cotta assures my return will be in the near future....

David Goist

Can be noisey when families with rude children show up. Very good sandwiches and meats.

Tori Spearman

Amazing food! So far I have enjoyed hot dogs, a burger, and fries from here (at different times). I've most recently tried their burger, while it was a little underdone for my preference the flavor was out of this world! I now know that I need to specify how I like my burger cooked when I order in the future but like I said, the burger flavor was mind blowing.

Ryan Reardon

Phenomenal Cuban sandwich! Thin bread, perfectly seasoned meat, not overly cheesy, worth every penny for top quality food.

We are always on the lookout for a great hamburger. This venue is tops. The burgers are fantastic. Go in for the burger or switch to the "special" and you won't be disappointed. The French fries are the best anywhere and fried in beef tallow. The bar is surprisingly well-stocked. The delicious homemade desserts have been different every time we go. The atmosphere is notable. The staff is helpful and happy. Check out the weekend brunches. Foothills uses fresh local meats and they are dedicated to providing the best. They have beef bacon, which we have never seen before (I make and smoke my own bacon and thought I had seen it all).

Great hamburger and amazing tallow fries. A plus that they are open late.

Sallie Burchett

Really, really, really good meat. The Poutin is one of the best things I have ever eaten. Foothills is a gem in West Asheville.

Sonny Tengblad

Stopped in late on a Sunday night while traveling. These people took such great care of us! The food is great and the portions are right sized, not too big. I'll definitely be back on my next trip through.

Sarah Richardson

Their breakfast poutine and fried bologna sand is amazing.

Lory-ann Rubinstein

Alex Scott

Fun place for a small dinner with great food and excellent service.

Brenna Lang

Unfortunately they don't have any dairy free bun options so I was unable to eat a burger (they did offer a lettuce wrap, but I declined). That was disappointing. However, my husband swears that the burger he had was one of the "top five" burgers he's ever had.

Brian Cox

Delicious as always. Burger night is our favorite night. If you want to make it at home I recommend a butcher box.

Abby

The burgers were delicious and the tallow fries were the best fries we have ever had. I can only give a 3 star rating because potato side dishes were $6 each (yeah, potatoes are cheap... This is a ridiculous grab at creating a high margin item) and vegetable sides are $5 (another ridiculous and unnecessary inflated price). Who wants to pay 5 bucks for coleslaw or collard greens???? They are overpricing their lowest cost items! I really wanted coleslaw but refuse to pay $5 for a serving of coleslaw that could not have a cost over $. 25!

This place has my favorite burger in Asheville. It’s so good I haven’t ordered anything else, but the rest of the menu / meat selection looks super tasty. Great vibe for a date or drinks with friends. Foothills is a must visit place for visitors and locals alike!

Aaron Bell

Wasn't sure what to expect as a first time visitor but thoroughly enjoyed, will return soon.

John Mendenhall

I like the food here very much.

Zachariah Acquaviva

So good. I really miss Banditos, and one of my favorite things on the menu was the Cuban, well happy to say, they have one at Foothills, and I think its even better. Unpretentious, delicious, good value for the quality of the food/beverages. Glad you came to Best-asheville

Tammie Casper

We sat down and ate THERE for the first time. These guys know how to cook a steak. It was perfection. The sides they chose were different: parsnip mash, sorghum roasted radiccio, and an urban orchard black hole cider pan sauce to compliment the best ribeye I think I have had in my life. It was fabulous! CHECK THEM OUT.

Heard lots of great reviews about this local butcher bar. Decided to try it out this Saturday morning 45 minutes after they opened for lunch service. The decor and atmosphere seemed pretty sleek like a posh diner with a display case for meats. Upon viewing the lunch menu I was a bit disappointed with the limited meat offerings a small and big cheeseburger, Cuban, chicharrones, and trout dip. The trout dip looked the tastiest so we tried to order it, but they were out 45 minutes after opening on a Saturday.. cool. So I order the 13$ double patty burger, and am not asked a temp, and therefore get the equivalent of 2 fast food burger parties cooked well done.. weird way to feature your local beef. Paired with iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, mustard, and pickles, American cheese, on a sesame bun..the only thing that separates this from a fast food burger was the toasted bun and triple the price. My partner’s mixed green salad was also super salty. Wasn’t sure if it was the blue cheese crumbles in it because of how salty they were too, but completely over seasoned or poorly mixed regardless. On a positive note, the beef tallow French fries were pretty bomb. Anyway, went to get some pork lard on the way out and both pound and half pound containers are priced 7$. Just seemed a bit unprofessional and unimpressive overall. IF you want a 12$ burger that’ll blow your mind go to The Vault. Hopefully dinner is a better selection here at Foothills, but I doubt I’ll ever know.

Emily Kendrick

Cozy space with friendly and acommodating staff and the best comfort foods. Their burgers are classic, delicious, and bring me back to childhood. Their fried bologna sandwich is out of this world and their drink selection is great as well!

Food was good and thoroughly enjoyed it, the staff was very nice. Only downside is the drink ordering is odd.

The place to get dog bones and the Viking Blood Mead was great. Warning, I like sweet beer. It has evening hours, which means you don't have to rush home from work to treat your fur babies and yourself.

Variations you don't find anywhere else made from quality, naturally feed, meats. Amazing variety of drinks, also, for such a small, intimate place.

Everything’s delicious, don’t skip the poutine!

This was our first time visiting and we went for lunch. We got the Reuben with tots and shared it and it was great! We liked how they brought chilled water in a bottle for you to fill your own cup. The restaurant and bathroom were very clean and the server / bartender was very helpful.

Mary-Lynn Burton

If you want one of the BEST burgers you’ve ever had, come here. Also, we discovered an AMAZING beer on tap here (whistlehop red saison.) Also, we brought our dog and multiple employees came and fed him pig skins which was super nice. Corey was an AMAZING server and we will recommend this place to all our friends and family!

Amazing food, great service and awesome atmosphere. Love this place and will be sure to visit each time I'm in Asheville!

We just found a new "Must Go To Weekly" Place! The kind of place you have cravings for because you just can't get it anywhere else! We ordered the Classic Burger and Tallow Fries.. OMG! The quality of the meat is super apparent in the very first JUICY BITE. The Tallow Fries are also bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We went on a Sunday afternoon and I ordered a Spicy Bloody Mary. I was expecting a decent Bloody Mary --- but what I got was one of the BEST Bloody Mary's I've ever had! Our server was amazing -- answering all our questions with passion. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Our dog, Carly, stayed in the car and we were able to purchase a Pig Skin for her to enjoy while we ate. After eyeing the beautiful meat selections in the display, we decided to buy some Pastrami and Pork Bacon to bring home. I cannot even explain how much we loved both! Incredible flavor! I went back in to pick up a $4 huge smoked bone for Carly (my dog) the next day. Upon receiving the bill for our meal, our drinks and our additional purchases, we were surprised at just how reasonable it was! MUST GO - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great Food. Great blue plate specials and burgers and hot dogs from locally sourced meat and great fresh side veggies.

Our meal was really good this evening and I like sitting out on the sidewalk.

We had the Steak for Two which was an awesome deal! The Butcher's choice for the night was NY Strip which was cooked to a perfect medium rare with sumptuous sauteed mushrooms. The deal came with choice of salad, potato, 2 veg sides and cake or pie. We chose kale caesar, potatoes gratin, creamed corn, collard greens and pumpkin cake. Everything was wonderfully prepared and served promptly by our friendly server. A truly excellent experience that we'll gladly repeat soon!

Went to dinner and my partner and had a delicious meal! Food was excellent, service and atmosphere were great. But at the end of the day, it was $50 for two beers, two cheeseburgers and French fries ( 20% tip included) Will definitely come back, but not gonna be a regular stop

Patrick P

Great food, nice vibe, clean. They sometimes get busy, and understandably, get a little behind with bringing you your plates. Would recommend.

Donnie Hutchins

We went for breakfast on a Sunday, service was chaotic for not being busy. We ordered the B&G and poutine, food was unseasoned, biscuit was hard and dry, the poutine was country potatoes with sausage gravy, portions where small and over priced. We will not be returning.

Always love being able to go out to eat and know the source of the ingredients! Foothills does everything in house and it really shows in the quality and taste of the food. Also love feeling like we found a hidden gem, you wouldn’t even realize it tucked away in the parking lot next to ingles. The bar next to the window is always the seat of choice and we look forward to many more meals here.

Mishia Williams

This food was so delicious, had the lil cheese burger and fries with a Cola it was yummy and filling..We will return for sure! great west asheville location..

Laura Adams

Oh, so yummy!!! Classic Lil' Burger with best hotdog ever along with thick cut tallow fries is absolutely fantastic! Great service with a contemporary butcher shop vibe. Will definitely be a go to place.

Customer service was friendly and prompt. Restaurant was clean including the bathrooms. Only issue was a bit pricey for the amount of food received. Will return because of the service.

Food was perfect. Great service, nice atmosphere. The meats are not the only star here. Man the lusty monk mustard is awesome. They have a pickled cauliflower on the butcher board that was awesome. But the meat on the butcher board was the best. Cant go wrong with that app. Had the sausage hat trick. It was some more awesome on a plate. It came with a sauteed Spinach and caramelized onions, this was like filet Minot of veggies. Wow. Btw the way the sausage was out of site too. This place was a 5 out of 5 all the way around. Thanks

Well, where to begin? I went last night for the first time and now I plan to be a customer for life. I had a hotdog Carolina style and my sidekick had the lil’ burger, and we shared the kale salad and fries. This meal reminded me of my childhood...but in a good way. I will state as a disclaimer that only a person that loves small town comfort food....and/or a person with an inkling of southerness that grew up around these hills, will truly appreciate the sentimental, nostalgic, thoughtful details of these magical food items. The kale salad was ordered to throw some healthy greenage to the meal and for a palate cleanser between bites. It was tasty with a nice touch of rye crumbs and corn. The hotdog was everything I wanted it to be. Finally!!! there is a hotdog that satisfies my pickiness for meat quality, that isn’t pretentious, but exactly right. The slaw and onions diced that certain way made me feel like I was 9, sitting on a concrete picnic table with my bathing suit on, with mustard and slaw and ketchup and chili on and up my nose, in my hair, on my self.... you get the picture. I was making sweet love to this wiener. The burger was just as good.. so yummy... and made me wish I would’ve just went ahead and ordered both. The fries were perfect. I loved the way some were skinny and crisp, some were fatter and softer, others were uniform... come on people, deliciousness. I then finished with the buttermilk pie that tasted just like my pre-diabetic grandma would make for a family reunion— in other words, YES. My only qualms was that it was served cold. But please do not take this as a negative comment— I prefer it at room temperature or warm because in my personal opinion, it eases the sugar base and allows the flavors to meld while allowing me to eat more of it, rendering me unaware (or uncaring) of how bad all this sugar is for my teeth. But no problem because I was so full that I took the leftover pie home and enjoyed it as I would like it. This leads me to an idea that you may or may not accept— what about some slushies or milkshakes? pleeeeeeaaase.. I wanted a milkshake with my hotdog so bad. It’s your fault. Yes, i am a glutton. A glutton for happiness. So I want to finish by just saying THANK YOU for doing what you do. I understand and love your concept. You’re doing it right. I can’t wait to bring my family here when they come up the mountain to visit me.

Scott Naelitz Jr

Had the unfortunate pleasure of eating your food at an Asheville City Soccer game. Ordered the BBQ sandwich which on menu described a beef or pork bbq sandwich of the day with choice of vinegar bbq or sweet bbq sauce at the condiment bar. Once receiving your small sandwich with minimal portioning of protein on a sandwich bun consisting of two tops for $7 and making my way towards the condiment bar already disappointed with my regretful purchase was immediately introduced with the non existent choice of bbq sauces. Being early to soccer game was hoping the choices available per menu description was just forgotten to be put out. After asking a person working the stand about the condiment options not being out I was then informed the sandwich was provided with a mustard bbq sauce already on it, which was not provided on the menu when purchasing my over priced under proportioned main course.

Rye Vg

So, the Monday special advertised was what brought us in. Sesame seed bun, double patty, talo fries, with a beer for $10... It was a double Junior patty burger, no sesame bun, just a small to medium size bun, and no free beer. We were told they no longer offer the free beer because they now do a double patty. The burger wasn't bad but was not anything like the picture online. I was more than generous with 2 stars.

Vincent Horn

Love the food here!

Catherine Beadles

Great service from Corey, he went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was exceptional. He’s one of the best servers I’ve had in a very long time. The Mac n cheese was not what I expected and he was happy to take it back and make sure I got what I wanted for dinner. The hotdog with chili and coleslaw turned out to be delicious in lieu of the Mac n cheese.
