I was so excited to try this place. That should have been my clue. A lesson learned in managed expectations. Pretty cool small butcher shop if all you want are a couple high-end steaks. The owner was very friendly and proud of his beautiful establishment. But let's talk about the food. Ok, here we go. The smoker sandwich tasted delicious, but was extremely small. There was barley any pulled pork on it. In fact there was so much slaw, they should call it the slaw instead of the smoker. Sadly, there was no house BBQ sauce on it either. For $11.95, I would never order this sandwich again. The fried pickles was a good sized order but lacked any flavor at all. Extremely bland. The side of "garlic" aioli lacked any hint of garlic and was perhaps just run of the mill, store bought mayo. Miracle whip would have been a nice upgrade. My take away here is, if you are going to have pickles in your name they better be damn good. They were not. In fact, they do not sell just regular pickles. Or pickle anything. But enough of all that. I did buy some steaks to go, for dinner. I hope the are as good as the fanatic looking meat case, the came from and better then the disappointing lunch. My hope is that this place is just still new, and will get better as they age.

My husband stumbled upon this place last week, unfortunately they were closed that day but we made the trip today and so happy we did. The food was excellent.!!! My son and husband had the Mechanisburger and I had the Screaming Eagle. My husband said it was the best burger he has ever had. My chicken sandwich was also out of this world. All of their beef is 21 day, dry aged. Not only was the food top-notch but the owner Dave and his step-daughter, Karli were so friendly and very personable. The place is very clean and well decorated. We will definitely be returning and next time purchasing some of the steaks they have. Thanks, Dave! Great experience.

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Place is clean and well lit. Ordered The Smoker which is pulled pork with Slaw. It was delicious! The home made rolls are a nice touch and very tasty!! Next time I’m gonna have the Mechanicsburger, can’t wait to try the burger with the fried tomatoe! Don’t be afraid to try something new, especially if you like meat. All locally sourced and very tasty! Gonna be a regular spot for me. 2nd Visit, staff was again very friendly and eager to serve. I ordered the “Screaming Eagle” sandwich and of course the fries because they are awesome! It is a fried chicken sandwich which consist of dark meat, not sure what the breading is made from but man it was good. The sandwich is then dipped in an in house sauce that was very tasty. Sandwich is topped off with the in house slaw which it also tasty. The roll once again was a highlight, very tasty homemade roll. So far I have found no reason to not make my way thru the entire menu. All of the items sound delicious and I can’t wait to try them. I would like to point out that everything you eat here is locally sourced free range meats and everything else is made in house which is very labor intensive hence the prices are a little higher than most sandwich shops. The key here is you can taste the difference. I was never a believer when people would tell me that, but I eat a great deal of pulled Pork and chicken sandwiches. I can truely taste the difference in the meats that I have tried so far. 3rd Visit, I had the Mechanicsburger. The burger comes with lettuce, onion, a slice of tomato that is fried! Yes a fried slice of tomato! Yum! Oh and it comes with a proprietary sauce that adds just the right amount of flavor. Man it is good. Have not been disappointed. Posting pics of the burger and more of the meats in the meat cases

Very disappointing. Both the pork & chicken sandwiches were small and flavorless for the price. I want to try the fresh meats, but won't be eating there again.

Great gem hiding in downtown Mechanicsburg. Ordering to-go food wouldn't do this place justice, because the beauty of this place is the experience eating there as well as the food. Mechanicsburger was good and a fun flavor, different than a traditional burger you can find elsewhere. Fries were a good old fashioned style that reminded me of the one's you get from food trucks at football games. I'll be going back to try more items and to support a locally owned and operated business. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was fantastic. Prices aren't cheap, but on par for what you'd expect for an artisan butcher shop. Overall a great place with good food, definitely recommended.

Had a great experience, learned a lot from the owner Dave, the food was great and we also purchased T-bones that were custom cut to size and cooled them on the grill this weekend.. totally amazed how one man's love for cooking and willingness to pass on the knowledge to anyone willing to learn, has been placed in the small town of Mechanicsburg. Great job to you and your staff, definitely worth the experience.. see you again for sure!!!

Excellent menu selection, a delicious meal that was only outdone by the staff. Many thanks for the great service.

Nice little spot to eat.

Stopped by during Jubilee Day today. The Mechanicsburger was probably the best burger I've ever had. We also got the smoked beef sandwich and that was also amazing. We will become frequent visitors because the food and selection of Artisan meats is amazing! I can't wait to go back.

We had a wonderful meal and a delightful chat with the owner and his wife! He seems happy to answer any questions and is highly knowledgeable about all of the products sold in the shop. We will definitely go back for meat and dinner!

Very delicious sandwiches and beautiful butcher case. We got our sandwiches to go, and everything we tried was fantastic. I had the fried chicken sandwich dipped in sweet hot sauce, and it was really amazing. Very high quality food. The prices were definitely higher than we expected, but I would say it was worth it. They could definitely knock down the sandwich prices a couple dollars to get a more regular crowd. I definitely couldn’t see people stopping here regularly for a quick lunch - it’s more of a special occasion stop in my opinion.

Really nice place with good customer service. They were very helpful in explaining everything. The food was great and it's all made in house.

We visited Smoke and Pickles around the time it first opened. I ate The Smoker and it was great! The Smoker is their pulled pork sandwich with an awesome house BBQ sauce. Also tried their fries and they were top notch! Chef Dave and Kelli were incredibly welcoming to everyone coming into the store and was excited to talk about the place. Great experience, will definitely be visiting again!

If I could give it a zero stars I would, we ordered 2 lbs of salt pork, an item they would normally throw away. They charged us 35.00 for the 2 lbs of salt pork. I can honestly say that I won't be giving them any more of my business ☹️☹️☹️☹️
