This Butcher Shop is included in the category of American restaurant.
Burger was amazing. Best pickle slices I've ever tasted.
We luckily scored a table without a reservation on a Saturday night, we were so glad we did! Excellent service and food. We enjoyed sharing our Brussels sprouts appetizers, and thbaked brie with pesto and pine nuts served with incredible crusty bread was divine. I reluctantly shared my burger, cooked to perfection, and we also enjoyed the spicy beef with kimchee and the fried chicken. Can't wait to go back and sample some more meats!
KQ offers a wide variety of delicious dishes at a great price. The service has always been incredible, the food they serve is of very high quality and I absolutely would recommend trying out this restaurant if you are in Fishtown. KQ also offers a range of cooking classes and private events that cater to anyone's taste.
All the courses were prepared really well. The duck and fried chicken were amazing and Tim the wine Steward paired a wonderful Austrian wine with everything
Absolutely amazing service and great amazing food
I had gone here a couple years ago when it opened and I loved it, but it definitely was not up to that standard when I went back this weekend. I'm not sure what happened. A bunch of us ordered sides of bacon and they were all dried out and barely edible. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it showed up without the Hollandaise sauce!! (granted I had a bunch of annoying special requests: no biscuit and fully cooked egg, but still.....) We'll probably give them another chance because the drinks are still delicious, but just a warning.
Expensive and kind of small portions, but for some of the best meat I've ever eaten. Very nice interior and the waiter was very good. Definitely one of the best date night settings I've ever been in.
Original Farm to Table menu, creative variety of interesting alcohol & cocktails + fantastic in-house butcher with take out!
Mad good. High quality ingredients, comfortable setting.
Everything, food, wine on tap and the people that work here are wonderful. Sitting on the back porch is the best.
The steak was a $100 bucks and 28 oz when we went. It is a must try for sure and worth the trip alone. The pasta wasn't anything special and one of the dishes was too salty to even eat. The Blondie was the hit of the table and a must try as well. The drinks are also really amazing and tasty.
Worst service I’ve ever experienced. As I write this review, we’ve been waiting over 40 minutes and they have not been able to get a server to take out order. Will never be back to this dump.
I finally made my way to Kensington Quarters. I have driven by this restaurant many times and I love there concept of locally sourced products. But until last night I hadn't made it in to experience their vision for myself. I wish I made it in sooner because I had the best meal I have had in a very long time. And it wasn't just the meal that impressed me. From the moment I walked in the door I knew I was going to enjoy myself. They have an in house butcher located in the very front of the restaurant. And he was expertly butchering a cow's leg. For a carnivore like myself this was heaven to watch. It's definitely an art. The decor is open and warm. The hostess greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. We had reservations for 6:15 and we arrived a bit early. But they were able to seat us right away. As we looked over the menu the waitress offered us standing or sparkling water. And proceeded to give us an overview of the small but interesting menu. We choose Beef Tartare as our small plate. Baked cheese as our oven option. My husband chose the Beef Shank wrapped in a banana leaf as his entree and I chose the Pork Shoulder. Every bit of everything we choose was exceptional. It was fresh and the portions were big. Even the small plates were a really nice size. This is a little bit of a pricey restaurant. But I never have a problem spending good money when the product I receive is of the quality I had here at Kensington Quarters. I would call the crowd a boughie hipster crowd but without the pretentiousness. Everyone was extremely nice. We will definitely be returning soon. They have a fixed fare menu on Sundays. 3 courses for $32/person. We will be doing that on our next visit. I highly recommend Kensington Quarters. Fishtown's food game is near impossible to beat with this restaurant within its neighborhood.
Wife took me here for a birthday dinner, really great meat selection and perfectly set up for sharing plates
I went to Kensington Quarter's for a company event and it was great. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. If you don't like to try new things this is not the place for you! It's a casual place serving high end fancy meals.
Visited here with some friends. Food is fantastic we shared a mixed grill and beef tartare. Both were fantastic. The waitress was a bit pushy but the manager made up for it. Came by the table to chat for a bit and gave us an appertif on the house.
Another shining example of the Fishtown culinary prowess!
High quality meats, but a little overpriced for the meal you recieve.
Best burger I’ve ever eaten...and I love burgers. I only go during happy hour though :-)
Went here for brunch on Easter. I found the place doing a google search of restaurants serving brunch. The restaurant is in Fishtown which is an iffy, but trendy neighborhood that has been up and coming for quite a while but it still hasn't made it there yet. The parking is poor so I parked on the street which made me nervous given the neighborhood. I wouldn't do that after dark for sure. Once inside we found the manager to be friendly and he seated us quickly. Initially we didn't like the table because it was in a narrow passageway in front of the kitchen but we found it to be entertaining as we watched the cooks and servers work. We also got to see the room where they cure their own meats which was cool to see. The menu was very nice. Our initial orders came out quickly and they were delicious. The main courses came out slow and I had to wonder about that. The food was delicious though. The presentation was beautiful and my only complaint was that my egg didn't come out quite the way I ordered it but I liked it just the same. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our visit very much. I'd definitely go again.
Dined late on a weekday while visiting town; so I was the only patron, but was glad for it - got to savour every bite of that perfect burger! Had read it was worthy on several top ten type lists, and it delivered. Would recommend and return.
This place has great service and good portions. It is on the pricier side but the food is delicious. I took my girlfriend here and we both got the Kensington burger. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I will definitely return. Great date spot
the best date night
beautiful place, beautiful people, good food! what do you want more?!
The pork tasting is wildly good.
Fantastic dishes. Mushroom toast, beef tartar, ricotta tart. So yummy. Great staff. BYOB Wednesdays
Overall, a great spot for some meats! We had the Mixed meat and seasonal vegetables option. It was a lot of food for three people for $100 so the value is def. there. I would say it would feed 4 people perfectly. Most of the meat was cooked perfectly, albeit a little on the salty side. We finished off with the gingerbread desert which was also good. Service was top notch.
Nothing like the KQ burger. Outdoor seating available.
Great food Great drinks Great service/staff
Cool atmosphere but food is ok. The meats are great but the overall dishes are strange with a lot of pickled items
Visting friends in Philladelphia and wanted to have a nice meal together Kensington Quarters exceeded all our expectations from walking in to our server Megan who left us wanting for nothing . Thank you to all the staff especially Tim appreciate all the personal attention.
The converted warehouse turned restaurant is an excellent place for brunch and dinner. The vibe is relaxed. The wait staff is professional helpful and quick. The food is just delicious. Had a cooked cheese and garlic appetizer that leaves you wanting more. After your meal, you xlcan stop in next door for some out of this world desserts
Fodd was overpriced...we had a child with us and they are not kid friendly...did not even have milk....am Celiac and limited choices. Eggs were undercooked. Obviously, they play to young hipster crowd but no ambiance and decir was lacking...no imagination...really so disappointed...
I signed up for one of the classes and unfortuantely was not able to attend due to an illness that struck the day of the class. I called as soon as Kensington Quarters was open but the staff on duty at the time could not help me. When I finally received a response, days later via email, it was no I would not receive a refund. They never even responded to my request to reschedule. I understand the need for a cancellation policy but 7 days is not reasonable especially when no other options are offered. Kensington Quarters won't be losing me as a customer as I never had a chance to shop there. In general it is not a good business practice to alienate people before they even try your product/service.
Good food, nice wine list. Comfortable atmosphere
Brunch was tasty and worth the wait. I had the pepperoni scramble which also has pieces of toast in it. The crispy potatoes were perfect and all of the meat looked great in the butchers case.
Good food
Phenomenal food. Perfectly executed, quality ingredients and seasoned to perfection. I would have posted some pictures of the food, but the food was so amazing I was completely mesmerized and thoughts of pictures never entered my head.
One of our favorite spots for breakfast and brunch. Food in general is very good!
Butcher shop that doesn't consistently have steak on the menu. Charcuterie was very good, as we're the cocktails, but I thought the entrees were just okay.
Food was good but seemed a little overpriced for what you received
Kensington Quarters is a restaurant in fishtown Philadelphia. Great service and ambiance. DO NOT come here if your hungry. Come here if you want to try a really nice restaurant with really good meat options. If I had lots of money to spend I would like this place more. The three of us ordered the cheese burger, smoked lamb and fried chicken, the amount of food we got was not much which is annoying for the price you pay. I get very frustrated when I buy food and I'm still starving afterwards. On a positive note the meat was on point, loved the patio and the beer options and the servers were great! Cocktails seem a bit pretentious.
Been here twice and everytime I feel like I walk away wanting more. Good but not great.
This place is amazing!! Went there with friends while visiting Philadelphia and the food was fantastic, they also have amazing wines, ask the waitress they know what they are talking about!! Definitely a place to add to your to do if you're visiting PA!!
The schnitzel was too salty says the German girl at the table. My cucumber salad was delicious and very fresh.
Sat at the bar and had great cocktails. Very friendly staff.
The food is good, but the portions are very small for the price. I've been there for dinner two times and even with ordering sides, I have left hungry each time.
Rude front of house the night I was there. Left after seating.
So good, tasting menu was phenomenal. Staff amazing and helpful.
Menu full of variety, tasty and we'll made
Great menu geared towards hearty meats and great vibe.
Extremely accommodating. Had a party of 12 and we did the prix fixe meat platter and it was amazing. Everyone loved all of the options. 100% going back!
Burgers are fresh delicious and juicy. Everything was great! And Great Service!!!
I enjoyed everything here, the drinks, food, and the ambiance.
This place has the best small plates for sharing
Excellent food. A bit pricey (appetizers not worth it, in my opinion). Stick to the main course. Recommended.
Made a reservation for 11am. We were the first group to arrive at the opening of the restaurant and was seated at 10:55am. Immediately noticed the flies EVERYWHERE coming in from the patio door they keep wide open. We sat and watched the place fill up - parties coming and going. We had to inquire to the waitress and the manager before we got our meal an hour later at 12pm. We had a party of 6 and all ordered items from the very limited brunch menu, but some reason we were the last to be served. Our waiter didn’t even check on us to let us know the reason why our food was taking so long come out. Literally sat at the table swatting flies, hungry, and then hangry. When the food finally arrived, it was good but at that point it was hard to actually enjoy it. Would never go again - worst customer service ever for no reason at all.
Great burger. Got the info on all the other stuff this place does and it seems like a great place for good food and other events.
Pork tasting is shoulder sausage and something else delicious
Meats were good had a nice woodfire taste, I tried the BBQ Chicken and the pork shoulder, portions are small for the price. They went overboard with the kale in the coleslaw, it was basically kale slaw had very little cabbage in it and wasn't really good no one at the table enjoyed it. Pasta salad was ok and the baked beans were solid. We were here on fathers day and they had a VERY limited menu with only 4 choices, one being a burger on a potato roll. I understand the rationale for a special menu on a holiday but the lack of choices was underwhelming and we all ended up eating almost the same sides, which kinda makes for a boring meal.
Great restaurant! First, the service is great, the staff is very attentive without ever being too in your face. Then the cocktails are inventive and tasty. We split the mixed grill for dinner, this turned out to be a great choice because you could try nearly everything on the menu and spoiler alert: it was all great!
Went for an amazing brunch. The restaurant wasn’t busy (unsure why - it should be packed!) and we got an outdoor table. Meat-focused menu - perhaps not great for vegetarians. I had Scrapple Tartine and my boyfriend had Pork Belly Benedict. Both were really top notch! So glad that we went here.
WHAT CAN I SAY, nice atmosphere , great food and service
Great food. Was told there were no hamburgers left so I had the pork tasting. AWESOME array of tastes. And then someone got a hamburger after we finished dinner. The waiter did a great job of covering. We laughed and had desert.
Great cuts of meat and craft cocktails.
Had dinner here a few times... always a good experience. Staff is professional and friendly...the food is on point here! Apps/pastas and the meats...one of my favorite friend chickens...farm 2 table joint quality food
The server was very knowledgeable helpful. The food was amazingly good as well. We got the pork tasting, sunchokes, and ny strip and loved everything. Worth every penny and we will go again.
Racist comment caught!!! I asked to sit outside, was forced to sit inside by the host and she added since its going to rain its best we sit inside! Sat down and noticed other people were escorted outside. I went to the host and asked in confusion why are other people being escorted outside when we really wanted an outside experience. The host comment in this quote was, "They don't mind the rain!" I was appalled and had to be quiet due to the anger that rose within me. I abruptly walked out and ask my friend to leave with me. I paid my tab for the two drinks we refused to drink. I will never go back ever. I have spread the word to my non-black conscious and progressive friends as well. Thanks for the reality check.
Really cool, trendy industrial decor, but the pork sandwich was oily and plain. Other dishes looked better, though.
Beautiful place. It's very airy and open. I went to happy hour for a burger and drinks. The burger was good but I'm pretty sure the bread was stale. Beer special was great. Their full menu looks amazing. Looking forward to going back.
Get the dark chocolate pudding. Also, anything from the grill is great!
Truly a great dinner. At this point in my life I don't eat a lot of meat (a bit of a "save the planet" combined with a bit of a "don't hurt the animals"), so when I go to a restaurant in order to eat something like a burger or a pork shoulder, it better be exceptional - and here they both were. My wife thought this burger was the best she'd ever had - it was truly great - no toppings other than some fried veggies required! This restaurant is not pretentious, includes their own butcher shop (hence the amazing quality of their meat), and the dishes overall are top notch. The accompanying vegetables and such were fresh (I believe farm-to-table) and perfectly cooked. Will definitely take friends here when they visit.
Outstanding service and a quality meal. The scallops were perfectly executed, and the various meats we shared were cooked just as requested. The cocktail menu was interesting and the overall experience was delightful. Terrific waitress and carrot cake! Definitely coming back
Hip casual restaurant with delicious and creative food with an emphasis on locally sourced food.
Great cocktails. The food was amazing. Got the tasting menu and it was definitely worth it. Staff was great too.
Great atmosphere and food. Will definitely come back!
Went for brunch and enjoyed the food and the good service.
Amazing food and service. Just go you won't be disappointed .
Awesome place
Went for brunch. Everything was delicious, but pretty high-priced.
I had the charcuterie for lunch, and my wife had the burger. Both were exceptional. Great service and atmosphere. Only slightly over-priced.
Cool mix of avante pub food, an actual butcher, and some higher end meats. Definitely worth a try. Nice happy hour too!
Good food, but difficult parking in the area.
Super slow service at a time that volume was relatively low. While friendly, the waiter seemed oblivious to how long everything was taking. A lady who I assume was the manager tried to make things better but overall the service was sub-par. As for the food, the fried chicken and crispy potatoes were pretty good. The spicy beef wasn’t bad...super small portion. Tuna was ok... I was hoping for a better overall experience for $170.
This place is wonderful. I've been meaning to go to sit down and eat here for a while. It took me a little longer because it is a little pricey.. but my mom decided to treat. I'm sure glad she told me to go ahead and get the ribeye because it was the best damn steak I've ever had! Some good beers on draft, and lovely outdoor seating out back. I might just have to buy some of the local meats they sell here if they're going to taste anything like that ribeye. They also have events like butchering classes and pasta making classes in the upstairs bar area. Check this place out!
Excellent food, fantastic experience. Great with a large group.
Great burger, awesome cocktails.
Kensington Quarters is a unique restaurant, bar and butcher shop all in one, offering food items produced by the Philadelphia regions many devoted farmers providing responsibly-raised, organic products with little interruption.
Great service, good concept but the food was underwhelming and overpriced. I would come back for happy hour... but otherwise no.
Not to be so basic but the burger was the best burger I ever had the best!
So yummy!! I tried their red velvet cupcakes and unicorn poo and both were awesome! Highly recommend. Prices weren't awful, higher then some places but I think it's worth it.
We have walked by this restaurant several times and finally made it for dinner. It was a beautiful night, so we sat outside. I ordered the pork plate, that featured sausage, shoulder and loin. Overall the dish was outstanding, I would definitely enjoy more of the shoulder and sausage. We also enjoyed a gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms. The gnocchi were light and flavorful. I would recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Duck was great! Comfortable dining experience and lots of choices on drinks.
This large restaurant/bar offers delicious cocktails and a solid menu of BBQ related options. With two levels, high ceilings, and a great ambiance, this is a great option for large groups, casual date night, or a few drinks at the front bar. So far so good on the menu; fried chicken special and the burger did not disappoint.
Excellent food & service. Knowledgeable but still fun...the Charcuterie rocks
Drinks are really impressive and unique. All were designed by many of the servers, not just the bartender
Just excellent all around. Great decor, atmosphere, food and service. I love big butcher block at the front of the restaurant when you enter. This place also has a lovely outdoor patio tucked away in the back away from the street which is nice. This food is excellent and I would definitely recommend this place. A bit on the pricey side.
Great atmosphere—eating there is fun. And the food is great—from the carrots to the pastas to the meat board. Enjoy!!
Kensington Quarters has a great balance of community eatery - high end eating. The repurposed aesthetic is beautiful, and the food itself is delicious. The portion sizes differ from what you would consider appetizer or entree helpings (like the Duck Breast is a very small portion compared to the Swordfish). The staff are also very accommodating to food allergies, such as gluten. The menu still boasts lots of options for the dietary restricted.
Lovely and attentive staff, amazing atmosphere and delicious food. We got accommodated swiftly despite the busy crowd. Everything was well executed, from drink to food, portion is just right for the price. Will definitely come back!
Definitely an amazing atmosphere with delicious food! Love the interior decor; it just gives off an amazing vibe. The staff is top notch as well; great place to check out (especially during happy hour)
Happy hour meals and drinks are on point!
Good food, good atmosphere, not terribly busy... slow service.
Service was amazing. Food even better
Had a lovely dinner at the bar! Jason made great food recommendations -- the watermelon salad was just perfect -- and crafted a cocktail for me that was exactly what I wanted but didn't know existed!
Amazing place, this is where we get all of our fresh meats, even cuts that are hard to find in the city.
Solid burger. A little expensive. Good service. Nice beer list.
Amazing staff who was willing to talk about every dish detail. Price seemed a bit high for simple but good BBQ
Woah... Delicious! Was here for a special event. So I can't speak to the regular menu. But the atmosphere and staff were wonderful!
Kensington quarters I a wonderful location to have dinner. Their unique butchershop setting, beautiful wooden table and classic decor makes it a unique spot to stop. The dining, on top of that sets it as one of the most satisfying place to eat dinner in the fish town area. Even with the stiff competition popping up all over the place, it still stands out with it's creative menu. They usually have a tar tar dish which is amazing.
Good service great food. Never been disappointed.
Get the burger at happy hour. Worth it. Edit 1/17/18: still fantastic. Went with some friends for a casual Monday night dinner and it turned into a feast. The bar, kitchen and service staff all have fantastic attention to detail and are very friendly. The mix grill is huge and easily feeds 4 with a couple of sides. Cocktails, wine, dessert also phenomenal. Hungarian sausage is amazing
Excellent brunch options!
The burger is 10/10 but don't pass on the pasta (made fresh every day). Definitely go with the mixed grill for a party of 4. And lambrusco on tap?! Are you KIDDING?!
I've been here quite a few times, and they never disappoint. Steaks are fantastic and service is friendly. I always recommend it!
This place should really be $$$ instead of $$. Four stars instead of five because the portions are very small, and we spent about twice what we were expecting. No other complaints—it’s a great restaurant. The service was excellent, the decor in the restaurant is modern / rustic / industrial, and our meal was delicious in every way, although they have a style that is not always agreeable or inoffensive. You may find some things to be cooked differently from what you’re used to, or be a little too spicy. But still very delicious and thoroughly enjoyable.
Amazing mixed grill.
I stopped in after a long tattoo appointment across the street at Art Machine to recharge, and man, I did not expect to have such a mind blowing meal, ordered beef tartar, a prime rib steak, and everything was fantastic. Servers were friendly and attentive, and I received a complimentary digestif at the end of the meal. Wonderful place.
Great food and atmosphere. Their patio is great for a nice day and they have an upstairs area you can rent out for an event or party. Their burger is phenomenal and their mushroom toast is delicious too. Love going there for brunch or dinner. Their menu changes seasonally and I have yet to have something I don't like there.
Went in with my son for a burger. Food was decent, atmosphere was okay service could have been better.
Every. Single. Time. I'm in philly I crush this place. I havent had a single bad meal. Seriously, for carnivores, you need to head here.
I had an amazing meal here. I started with the rare beef, loved the crispy chicken leg and the peanut butter semifreddo. Great atmosphere as well. Good place to eat!
Great food
Underwhelming food
I'm ameat-lover. Everything is great! And vegetables too!
my favorite combo is to go for happy hour & get the mushroom toast, burger, and side of crispy potatoes to share. they make a good martini and usually have some interesting cocktails
Exceptional brunch. Great menu. Great service. Housemade scrapple was outstanding.
The beef tatar is amazing. Recently visited London & Paris, tried it for the first time at both locations. Preferred Paris to London's smoked version. KQ bested both.
The food and service are fantastic but the prices are pretty expensive. Wide and spacious restaurant with ample outdoor seating.
Delicious food and attentive service. I'll be back!
This farm to table restaurant offers stellar options for vegetarians and omnivores alike in an inviting and well designed space. I (warily) tried the mushroom toast and it totally lived up to the hype. Meet with friends at the upstairs bar (shown) or enjoy dinner in the lower level dining room.
A really nice experience. Have never been there before and can't wait to go back. The selection was fabulous. Server Brandon top of the game.
Above and beyond excellent the food, the service and atmosphere. We had a party of 19 in the private area. Katie, the coordinator, was effective in making our party successful. I have never had such a great restaurant experience.
Fantastic food and service. Great core menu with rotation that keeps you coming!
Good food and atmosphere. Some portions were a bit small for the price, but overall a good experience.
Food is good but crazy expensive for terribly small portions, takes forever
When you pay $16.20 for a burger and a handful of chips the least you can expect is a bun that isn't BURNT! How hard is it to toast a bun without burning it?!!! Also I ordered Medium and I got Raw! By the way, what took so long? Was it hard to burn the bun just right? Because apparently you didn't take that long to cook the burger?
Very good brunch!
Outstanding brunch. The Dutch Baby is fantastic.
Ate at KQ for our dinner before seeing Walk the Moon at The Fillmore. My boyfriend and I have eaten at our fair share of restaurants of all types in various states throughout the country and KQ is incredibly unique in that they offer a simple menu to choose from with a meal that is absolutely incredible. I never thought I would enjoy “crispy potatoes” as much as I did this night. The flavor is so unique and comes full circle. The portions are small, but don’t let that fool you. When a meal is done well, a small plate is all you need to feel more than satisfied (that’s coming from a major foodie)! Thank you Gina for this wonderful dining experience and we will be back to Fishtown to eat at KQ again!
Great food, even better service and awesome ambiance! Their business model is really cool. Yet another amazing place opening up in Fishtown, aka mini-Brooklyn!
Amazing farm to table style, modern american cuisine.
Excellent small plates and drinks. The duck entree was perfect. Apple fritters were a delight.
My favorite location for tasty American food. Service is always excellent even when they have a full house. I look forward to a return visit. This place has a nice feel to it. This place has many great reviews for a reason.
It's delicious food in a wonderful space. Go on Tuesday and get the fried chicken special. It is amazing.
Wow my journey around the Philly food scene continues to impress. This is a must stop for true foodies. Not to take away from anything else but absolutely the best head cheese I have ever had!
One of the best meals I have had as of late. Excellent service, great cocktails, fun vibe.
Good service, great food. Nice atmosphere! Outside seating is nice almost forget your in the city, the occasional train reminds you but is not over powering
Great meat!
We checked out Kensgington Quarters a month or so ago. Such a wonderful experience. You must get the all the meats platter. It comes with all of their meats and some sides as well. Its meant to be a sharing plate. Pretty much all of their plates are sharing plates. Soo good, come hungry!
Went for happy hour they have some good deals and the service was fast and friendly.
This place is a must. Yummy food with amazing service :)
Great atmosphere, and well made drinks. During the warm weather the outside space is great
Food never disappoints! Take advantage of the happy hour special and order one of their delicious burgers for $12.
Awesome meats, great service - a seamless and delicious experience. Very detail oriented, and visibly thoughtful
Great food, service and ambiance. They cut their meat on site and it was well prepared and cooked. I highly recommend this as a fun place to visit to get a great meal
Nice spot for a glass of good juice!
Really contemporary place. This is a place for young adults to get their booze and fresh meat on. But that doesn't mean people of all ages aren't allowed. It utilizes fresh ingredients, unique flavors, and its simple menu to pull you in. Definitely a place for young people to get their pretentious on at an affordable price.
