I've been coming here for three years. The customer service keeps getting less friendly. Today they charged me $15/pound for top sirloin, because they apparently charge an extra $5 per pound to thin slice it for cheesesteaks. That seems ridiculous. I've never been uncharged for a cut of meat because I needed it sliced.

Every year I purchase a Prime rib roast and each year we are not let down.. Never have been. They leave the exact amount of fat on which is necessary for my Yorkshire pudding. I can honestly say that the flavor of Gartners' beef is superb and it is always less money per pound than Fred Myers Rib Roast (not prime) by a few dollars per pound. The staff sticks to the numbers you pull from the number holder. No one is left unattended. They (staff) are very nice have a lot of patience and are funny while doing their work. Thank you Gartners for great service!!

Dear Gardners— I purchased 50lbs of short ribs for a special event that I was hosting. I am sorry to say that the quality of meat was the worst that I have ever seen. The short ribs were all fat and I was embarrassed to have to serve such a mess to my guest. The price for the 50lbs came out to $301.00. Paying half would have been too much for what I received. Very disappointing.

Great butcher shop! Every cut of beef, pork, lamb and chicken you would ever want, and then some. Fantastic selection of sausages, lunchmeats, hams and bacon, including English bacon. They have THE BEST cube steaks. A large variety of marinated and seasoned meats ready to cook. HUGE, friendly staff waiting to serve you. It IS a full full service butcher shop, so if you don't like what you see, ask and they will make it right then and there. AND they have a huge selection of rubs, spices, seasonings, breads and buns. They also sell Traeger wood pellets and all the Traeger rubs. Huge parking lots (they have two) so parking is EZ. They are open six days a week, closed on Mondays.

Their smoked meats are a whole level above anything you will find in an grocery store tho.. Love this place. It's a Sunday institution for us. There yesterday to buy fixings for our at home anniversary dinner (one T-bone, one filet, both gorgeous) and some brats for later in the week. Oh, and a smoked brat in a bun for each of us. This is one of the places where I get oxtails, knuckle bones and marrow bones for bone broth. Beautiful quality, amazing service.

Their German beer sausage, snack sausage, and pepperoni are hands down the best. The marinated spare ribs are delicious especially if you buy them a few days early so they have time to marinate fully.

Gartner's is simply the best retail meat market and butcher in Portland. The quality of their meat, the variety of their sausages, and the knowledge of the staff are stellar. No hallal or kosher products, but you can't have everything.

This is a great local butcher. They have a huge selection of meats and can custom cut just about anything. They have real prime cuts and a large number of smoked sausages and bacons as well. I personally would suggest any of their marinated meat options. They have pork, chicken and beef options just ready for the grill or skillet!

I grew up going to Gartner's in the late 70's and 80's. I have fond memories of going there as a child and getting the sausage sticks as a treat. I currently reside in Texas, but am in town to visit my father who was recently put in hospice care. I took some of my family with me to partake in a sausage stick and visit a place that holds such great memories for me.

Wonderful customer service! Surprisingly good prices! Got a rack of cooked ribs for just 12 and it was juicy, tender and flavorful. Their pepperoni sticks—which each of my kids were given one for free—are all beef and so perfect! Can’t wait to cook up the sausages and other meats we bought☺️

I've been coming here for years. Best kabobs EVER!! I love the nostalgia of it looking, feeling, smelling the same. It's ALWAYS very clean. Very busy. Don't be in a rush. Line's are long. Pull a ticket. But, they move quickly and efficiently. For me it gives me time to look around and see what I want/need. Side dishes are REALLY great!! Stuffed baked potato, macaroni salads. Employee's are ALWAYS nice. Great service. Can be spendy.. But, quality is superior. I drive all the way across town to go here. FACTS: Great dog bones!!

When I went, I got a meatloaf pan and it didn't come with cooking instructions, but I eyeballed it and it turned out really good!

It's conveniently located on MLK with plenty of parking space. Great place to get tour2 Dog Bones. My pitbull is just crazy about the bold smokey flavor. The bones are HUGE too! The roast was juicy and tender. Great folks with excellent customer service. Make sure to get a number and feel free to browse as you wait to be called. Super kid friendly!

We love this place. We live in WA and seldom come to Portland. When we do, we try to fit in a stop at the shop. We arrived from vacation last night, stayed in a hotel because of our late arrival, and will linger around the hotel until Gartner's opens at 9. We love their beef bacon and super spicy sausages. We always pick up a couple nice new york steaks too. We actually don't eat much meat at home but we love their products so we make an exception.
