Best butcher shop around!! Friendly people and very knowledgeable. You can tell they take pride in their work. DELICIOUS summer sausage!! I won't take my meat any where else!

On the advice of my grocery store butcher, I took my first deer there about four years ago and to my knowledge, there is no place better in the North Wake County area to take wild game. Don is always courteous, professional, and the product he returns is superb. Every time I have been there his shop is clean and well-run. The summer sausage and burger is awesome, I have friends lined up to get some of if from me. Most of all, his turn around time on getting meat back is often only a day or two, even in the peak of season when he is quite busy. On one occasion I took a deer to another processor due to time constraints and because I was hunting out of town. Not only was the product inferior to Country Butcher, the price I paid as outrageous. Trust me on this one, you will not be disappointed if you go to Country Butcher.

We recently took some shoulders and hams to this location for processing as our local freezer wasn't up and running yet. The operation was clean and well taken care of, but the product leaves something to be desired. Burger is burger, don't expect a lot there, although it's still pretty low in fat content. We usually get 10-15% fat added to burger for taste. The sausage (country hot) is not good. It doesn't have near enough fat, so it's super dry and not very flavorful. Most recipes call for at least 20-30% pork and beef fat, I find it hard to believe that this has any. The sausage is essentially burger with a bit of seasoning. I'm going to have to find a way to reuse or recondition this meat, it's not usable for breakfast sausage.

I took some hams and back straps from a few does I shot and wanted to try something new. I usually just use my venison for chili, spaghetti, cube steak, and sometimes I'll grill some back straps. I took the meat to Don on and in just 3 or 4 days he had my processed meat ready. I had him make it all country link sausage. It was tasty. Let's remember if you want Bass Farm or Neese's sausage you need a hog and about $5.00/lb. I took him a deer and paid about $2.00/lb. Shop was clean. Hope to befriend with Don as I usually shoot 3-6 does each year and I care about what I put in the belly. I'll be going back and recommend you do as well.

Took pig shoulder and leg to get sausages. What i got was unseasoned sausages and overpriced , almost 4 times more than other butchers paid $2 per pound , other charges $0.60 pet pound, plus $20 processing fees. Never again.

I haven't got my deer back yet but I'm a first time deer hunter and got my first deer last night. I finished gutting and skinning my deer and got to their building right at 9pm on a Friday night literally as they were locking the door and they still let me drop off my deer! I really appreciate them dealing with a newbie and helping me select what I wanted on their cut sheet! Very helpful and great customer service! Can't wait to get my deer back!
