New owner..review. new owner started 3 wks ago. Saw this place on Great BBQ Map NC on way to beach decided to try out. First the map says whole hog, gas and wood coals. This is no longer the case with new owner but met him and he is applying for permission to smoke que. No longer whole hog, shoulder and butt. I got plate and que was very good. As good as Wilburs in Goldsboro. But it needs smoke. Turnips a little overcooked. Potato salad with onion just ok. Adding Billy sauce kicks up a notch. Fried chicken moist and crunchy - excellent. Hush puppies a disappointment. This is not a restaurant but a serve counter takeout. The store also has other items like fresh bacon, angus steaks at reasonable price and other items. I wish best to new owner and will return.

Got the tour with Billy, loaded up on country ham and fresh sausage, and bbq plates to go. Classic pulled pork, excellent sides, and perfect fried chicken!

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Had very good almost half of a bbq chicken, green beans, corn on the cob, and hush puppies for about 7 dollars. Very friendly people. I will be coming back!

Catered Pig Pickin. They are the BEST!!! We had a post-wedding celebration in Charlotte this past weekend for our son and his wife who got married last month in California. The location was over 3 1/2 hours from Wallace. I hired Tony and Mandy Cavenaugh the owners of Billy' Pork and Beef to cater the pig pickin on a recommendation from my good friend and fireman extraordinaire who is a life-long resident of Wallace. Total turn key operation. They drove up to Charlotte, cooked the pig, and all the fixins, tea, lemonade, etc. It was GREAT! The food was incredible. The service unsurpassed. And as a result, we were able to enjoy our family and friends. This was a true pig pickin as people came by the grill and could cut off or pick the meat they wanted. It was DELICIOUS!

Porter House

Neat country market with quite tasty Bbq. My chopped sandwich with slaw was overstuffed and hit the spot. Fried chicken looked delicious, but will save for next visit. Hush puppies, potato salad and I believe chicken pot pie on the menu as well. No frills, but certainly was worth a quick stop. Enjoyed speaking with the genial owner outside in the picnic area, great customer service all around!

Primarily a butcher shop. But they also have a lunch counter that serves BBQ and some sides. No seats, only take away. Great NC style BBQ at low prices. A coule of miles off I40.

This place has a small food bar for breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh , hot,and reasonably priced. If you want southern style barbeque (vinager), chicken or pork for lunch or just a quick breakfast plate to go Billy's has you covered. A small outdoor seating area is next to the store if you want to sit and eat there. As always full disclosure if I perform a service for a place I review. I do some work for Billy's and I eat there several times a week.

Fresh!!! Very friendly and helpful staff. (Mind you this place has a particular smell when you walk in.. Just ignore it if you're not used to it.) It's a great place to get your meat! They'll cut anything you want.

Oh lawd somebody best call my mama cause I done died and gone to hog heaven. BBQ, hush puppies, Lima beans, and slaw. Delicious. Heading down I-40 to the beach? Billy's is an absolute must. Ain't but a couple few miles detour off exit 385. Get you sumpin to throw on the grill while you're there, maybe a couple pounds of air dried craft sausage. Yep, now there ya go, gettin that Eastern Carolina flavor foreal!

Been eating here for years! Love the BBQ! Recently got new owners, I went and got a BBQ plate today and potato salad... the BBQ was under cooked and doesn’t taste the same. The potato salad isn’t the same either. Hope the new owners step their game up!
