This place is a slice of vanishing New York, serving up some old-school, authentic, affordable Ukrainian food. Here is where you get the most delicious, melt-in-your mouth cured meats, pick up scrumptious and huge! meat-stuffed cabbage rolls (or the meatless kind with rice), and many other tasty things that will be budget friendly. The staff here is great too, happy and chatty and it fills my heart with joy every time I stop by. Give it a try! You won’t regret it and perhaps we can keep this shop (and other authentic spots in the area) in business longer...

I caught friends who live miles away come to shop here. Slightly grumpy staff, but everything else here is awesome. Especially if you urgently need a fix of Central/Eastern European sausage. Oh and chocolate. Can't have sausage without chocolate.

Sarah Overholt

I grew up a few blocks away from this place. There used to be many butchers like it and now it's the only one. It's beyond delicious and I have never been disappointed.

Diana Freytag

Great Eastern European butcher and delicatessen. Good kielbasa and pre made food like cucumber

Eli bojangles

Great buffet on Saturdays with tons of homemade perogis and tons of other delicious homemade food. Great eggs, butter, mustard, and most of the bread is top notch. Best bacon in the east village. I repeat, best bacon in the east village. I go about once or twice a week and get a half lb or lb at a time. This place has survived the extreme gentrification that has occured for a reason.

This might be the last Ukrainian butcher in East Village and it is definitely the best in the area, if not the city. They have their own cold cut meats and they are high quality and are very reasonably priced. I really like the city ham, head cheese and their roasted turkey. More importantly, I love their Ukrainian specialties including kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, bintzers, and dumplings. I am going to miss this butcher shop after I move out of EV!

Laurin

They close before 6pm or whenever they feel like it. Multiple times I have gotten there way before 6pm and they were closed. Very disappointing.

Brendan Radigan

The best butcher shop in NYC hands down. It is a community fixture and has been for years... The quality is fantastic and the sausage is super tasty. As someone from this area, I hope it never disappears.

Yuliana Kletsun

Absolutely wonderful! I was a few dollars short and the owner told me not to worry about it and to enjoy my Holiday. Nobody does that anymore. Wonderful old school business. Food is top shelf, fresh, and reasonably priced.

The only place where you can find great value in food. Especially when you go on Saturday. There is a great deal of food only available on this day. You can choose from pierogies, stuff cabbage, and veal meatballs

It's nice to have a 'personal' butcher again!

They do not accept ebt. I can't really say I'll give it 5 Stars because I never been there. I also do not hate this business.

You must try their Kielbasi. It's too good to be true.

Dianna Chou

Went for Pierogi day to try them, it was pretty good - - Short rib - very meaty and tasty - Potato cheese - classic, and good Their pierogies are served at various restaurants in the area. Considering the service/lines at some of those other restaurant, I would buy from EV meat market next time next time I have a pierogi craving. They have corned beef and other smoked meat, which I might check out next time. Friendly staff $2 for a fairly large apple or cheese pastry - Bread was a little dry, but the apple filling is good.

Anthony Basilio

The smoked garlic kielbasa soaked in beer and grilled! Beautiful dream!

Linda Gregor

The best krakowska and kielbasa on this side of the world!

One of the best kolbasy , double smoke kolbasy, garlic kolbasy you can buy in New York

Nazary Nebeluk

This store can be a little overwhelming at first but the staff is friendly and will help guide you through it all. This is the go to place for Eastern European delicacies, especially cuts of meat. Their kobanos is legendary with an international following and their hams are the best I've had since visiting Ukraine. No self-respecting Ukrainian would celebrate a holiday without stocking up here first so it can get nuts with a long line around then but most of the time it's very accessible. Be sure to stop by!

Jaime Fitzgerald

The last remaining Ukrainian Meat Store. Great Hot food on Saturdays including amazing corned beef

Yoonju Kim

This is truly one of the great butchers in New York, especially for pork products. No nonsense service, fast but friendly, combined with great quality of their wares and the excellent prices, keeps customers like me coming back for years.

Михайло Корюкалов

Wow

kuduguy .

My favorite Polish deli - I always pick up a few pounds of kabanosy here. I've tried a few of their deli meats and they've been pretty damn good. You can also pick up some Polish candies and other miscellaneous things. The only complaint I have is that their their hours are a bit limiting so I can't ever get their on weekdays.

Ukrainian neighborhood butcher featuring premium meats and home smoked sausage (kielbasa) which is prepared daily in their kitchen. Once a year in October they host Pierogi Tasting Day when they give out free samples of pierogi (varenyky). The line stretches for blocks.

Jinglun Zhu

Andrew Lastowecky

The best. Great variety. Great taste. On many Saturdays they have a hot table that demands a visit.

Ray Bobak

I have been shopping here for decades and I have never been disappointed. The kielbasa is great and the smoked meats superb! Try all the sausages, you will not be disappointed.

Caitlin Smith

great polish food, including pazckis!

Bonnie Huang

Awesome. The best Ukranian meat market ever. Definitely go there and get a kielbasa. And if you have time definitely go to Veselka across the street to try there borscht. The borscht is made with meat from there

Zach Nial

Awesome!!!

Been coming to this place since I was in a stroller, when the butchers used to feed me bits of knabber nossi. This place is unassuming on the outside and delicious on the inside, just like the stuffed cabbage rolls they sell (pro tip: buy one for lunch and heat it up in ur office kitchen. Enjoy w a liberal serving of sour cream )

East Village meat market is a great butcher shop. I was lucky enough to go into their prep area and see the locker full of kielbasa smoking in the back. If you love cured Polish meat products like all sorts of hams and varieties of sausages this is a wonderful place to get them. It's one of the only polish butcher is left in York City and totally worth visiting. They also sell fresh meats. They carry a range of prepared foods as well like perogies and schnitzels.

This butcher is fantastic! Unbelievable that a local butcher of this quality is still able to exist in big-corporate America. George - one of teh main patrons/possibly the owner - is super helpful, gives great deals on large orders. They always have ready made stews and soups. Sausages are unbeatable. We get our holidays roasts here every time - pork with extra crackling. Definitely worth a visit no matter how big or small your meal is. And they have sweet pastries as well!!!
