Used to be a great butcher and then Mario had a stroke. Recently it seems things aren't the same. The olives aren't great like they used to be, the fresh mozzarella isn't as good and the attention to detail with the meat isn't what it was when Mario did everything. Still good spot nonetheless.

Awesome! Ask Mario to make you his special ground beef for burgers- he puts some veal in it along with pork! Classic Brooklyn, and gosh I hope the changing neighborhood doesn't force them or their fish market across the street out of business.

It's always a treat to go visit Mario- you'll usually find him socializing with some of the older Italian residents of the neighborhood. So go see old Mario for great meat at affordable prices. (Sometimes I wonder how he stays in business.) One of my favorite things to get is hamburgers from beef he grinds up for you, and then hand-presses into patties. His cuts of steak and pork chops are always amazing too.
