Dark Pines is one of my favorite things about my neighborhood now! I LOVE getting fresh local/grass fed/organic products. The cuts of meat are fantastic, I never thought I liked chicken until I bought it from Dark Pines! I purchase all of my holiday fair, my regular weekly items, and some of the prepared foods...all amazing. Try the prepared roast beef, you won’t be sorry! Bone broth, chili, produce...i have yet to be disappointed. Thank you, Dark Pines!!

I'm only doing this as a counter play to the D-bag who gave this place a one star review because HIS schedule didn't match their's. The level of ridicule there is so far beyond rationale that I wish I could give the ownership six stars for even taking the time to respond. They MUST be saints.

Thank goodness we have a high-end butcher in Jersey City. They have everything you need, just give them a little heads up and you can get pretty much whatever you want. The quality and the cuts are just as good as any of the best in Manhattan and locally sourced. I wouldn’t go any place else.

Just made steak au pouvre with sirloin steaks from Darke Pines...and wow! The high quality of the steak was apparent and the flavor was outstanding. Perfectly marbled. Service at the shop was fantastic; real family feel.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff with top notch meat and poultry. They use the entire animal so call ahead to reserve the odd bits or buy your dog a house made snack. Regarding their hours, I’m not sure what Adam does for a living but they are open Saturdays and were even open this Fourth of July. Hope you get to try it sometime, bro!

Place has a lot of potential and the product looks great. Tried the sausage and they were great over charcoal. The price is justified by bringing in high quality whole animals. I'm hoping more traffic and expanded products like sandwiches and charcuterie will bring the price down a bit.

Would get 5* if opened earlier on weekend! 11:30 is too late! Have done all our shopping by then and have missed many of our purchases because always closed when we go by... like right now

Steak-au-poivre was the first meal I cooked for my wife at her tiny Hells Kitchen studio while we were dating. The night I proposed, I made sure it was after a perfectly prepared porterhouse for two at the local steakhouse. Locally sourced meat, raised in a healthy and ethical way, has a special place at our table once a week. More than a meal, it reminds us of how we fell in love and how much in love we still are. I’ll admit outright that I like some strange cuts of meat (ie tripe). Though they don’t carry everything I like to cook, what they have is a) great quality and b) provided by a staff that is wonderful to communicate with and knowledgeable about their product (ie know which cut can replace another if needed) Check out their website and send a quick email if you have your heart set on a certain cut of meat. They’re happy to set it aside for you. It’s pricier but you definitely end up with a better final product because of it. Items I frequently buy: oxtail, bone for broth, skin on pork belly (have to special order), rough beef flank (special order)

Absolutely awesome new butcher shop. Very helpful staff that can inform you to ensure you’re not intimidated and spending your money on what you want. I bought two steaks and some cool condiments. They came out excellent on the grill with only salt and pepper. This place is a great addition to the neighborhood compared to the horribly-named predecessor that occupied this space before (not a butchery). If you’re looking for high quality meat and a helpful staff this place is great.

I’ve waited a few weeks to try this place, and I was not let down AT ALL!!! Small shop + large space = exciting growth potential! I Just finished the ‘brisket and short rib burger’...... absolute game changer!!! Do not forget to treat this as the steak burgers is and not a chopped, and you will end up with an OMG experience. My recommend: cook until about 150, add some grilled pineapple, and enjoy!
