You better bring CASH. Known for candy cigarettes and in-season old-tyme ribbon candy, this meat market has done years of business processing quality meats. They do a good job making a product to meet expectation. My visit was prompted by my wife calling to have me stop for a pre-ordered meat/cheese tray. After getting the tray from the meat counter, I grabbed a couple of simple items and proceeded to check-out. As I was prompted with my total, I pulled out my credit card and the check-out gal aggressively took the credit card from my hand, spun around the credit card reader and typed in a dollar amount as she inserted my card. In the moment, I thought it was strange that she had to type in the dollar amount, but I excused this action as an out-of-date system. When she presented the terminal back to me for signature, the total did not match the amount she requested for payment. Again, I assumed I heard wrong, or maybe there was a new city tax? After I got my receipt and went to my car, I reviewed my transaction receipt. The difference was a "non Cash adjustment" of 3.95%. When I arrived home, I asked my wife if she was told when she placed her order over the phone if they reviewed this policy of 3.95% if you don't pay with cash. Nothing was mentioned of this policy. Even at the point of sale, the woman checking me out didn't mention the additional fee - just added it right on as though I was an inconvenience in her afternoon. I would have brought cash for the transaction - if it was that big of a deal. It's only a matter of time before people realize that the meat market down the road has the same quality product and they don't charge hidden fees for giving them business.
