I stopped first thing at 8 Am on Friday morning 10.19.18 to pick up some baked goods for my team celebration. I read all of the great reviews prior to selecting this venue and I was a little hesitant because they seemed more in the meat business than baked good business. Staff was friendly and helped me with cookies, donuts, and Halloween inspired cake balls. The cake balls ended up to be completely mold infested on the inside when I served them to my team. This was gross and rather embarrassing. When I called to let them know, I asked for a manager to the person who answered the phone and I was immediately disconnected, upon calling back I spoke with Jennifer (the manager) and she was happy to give me a full refund and even mentioned that when she ate one the prior day that she thought they tasted "funny".

If you have not been here it is a must, the meat of course is beyond words,but what about the lobster tails,pickled herring,ready to go baked potatoes,the chesse,salads and so much more, selection is vast and all great quality and will make you keep coming back The sauces. I ordered hamburgers, hot dogs and buns for a large business meeting. They delivered 30 minutes early. The buns were just made, are super soft and were also cut (saved me a ton of time). The hot dogs are out of this world with a really good snap and the hamburgers were so delicious. I'll definitely call on Nelson's for all my future catering needs. 100% satisfied customer!

This place is always a great go to whenever you want to actually get great quality meat and other butcher items. They also have wonderful Bakery Goods which always had a spies my sweet tooth. Great prices, really friendly service, and of course amazing meat.

Phenomenal selection of fresh, high quality meats. Friendly staff is quite knowledgeable on all things meat and excited to help you out. For example I went in there to to make jerky and they gave me some tips on types of meat and offered to slice it for me for free. There weekday lunches are also delicious.

Went in on a late Sat. afternoon, meat looked a little..."tired" I guess, like it had been sitting, not a real fresh look to most of it. Tried some jerky, tasted great, and had it marked at "$8.99" which since everything else was either by lb or by steak one might think it was for a lb, thought a lb of turkey jerky at $8.99 / lb wasn't too bad, only to get home and find out it was per 1/2 lb, called back and was told "yeah, I probably should've warned you about it being by the 1/2 lb" agreed. Not completely enthralled with that I guess but, the "OK" rating is more about the general appearance of the meats/steaks I was looking at...not real sure I'll go back, maybe try them on a weekday night see if the meat looks any "fresher"?

We were in town for my daughter's softball tournament and wanted something fast and not greasy. I realized (after driving by) that Nelsons was locally owned, and we like supporting those smaller businesses so we thought we would check it out. The service was amazing, everyone was happy to be there and very helpful and attentive. We all ordered sandwhichs and were impressed by how fresh everything was. If we lived closer we would definitely be using this as a "go to" for lunch. Although we didn't try the butcher side of the establishment we did check out the meat cuts and they were impressive. If you're looking for a quick bite in a cozy establishment where you are made to feel welcome then you need to go to Nelsons.

Nelson's just opened up a block from my house. First time I went in I ordered some bacon wrapped fillets (which are at a decent price) and a one of their hot lunch specials. Tons of food for the price in that lunch (it actually made two lunches for me). I've been back a few other times now that they have been open at their new location on Minnetonka. The staff is super friendly and for me the location is about as convenient as it gets. Today's visit prompted the review. Apparently there was an issue with a customers order. The manager or owner told the customer he could give him some money off his order and then threw out the option of making a special trip to his supplier to get the item the customer was originally looking for. It's been great customer service for me and apparently to others as well.

Usually never any issues here as it's my local butcher. Mostly come to get bones for my dog. Today (11/16) I had to wait over 20 minutes just to buy some dog bones from the freezer. I'm not sure if not all the staff is able to assist customers but there were at least 3 employees walking around aimlessly while there were a handful of customers at 1115am trying to get services while they left just one girl to run the entire showroom it appeared. I was planning to purchase lunch from here as well and some beef jerky and some beef short ribs for dinner but because I had to wait so long for a 45 second transaction (initially just dog bones purchase) I ended up Deciding to take my monies elsewhere today. Hopefully next time the employees can recognize patrons patiently waiting and offer to lend a hand instead of scurrying to leave the store to avoid helping out for another minute.

We had Nelson's cater our son's graduation party. The chopped smoked brisket was amazing! Everyone loved it and they were asking where it was from. We also heard people were actually talking about it when they were chatting at other grad parties. The buns that came with the brisket were also excellent. So glad we found this place! We will be back!!

I visited yesterday looking for some good cuts of meat to throw in my pressure cooker. The staff were EXTREMELY helpful (and downright funny). Walking into Nelson's felt more like walking into my family's kitchen than the local butcher shop. The people were warm, the food was abundant, and most importantly, the food was DELICIOUS!! I bought donuts, short ribs, and two kinds of pickled herring. They threw in some garlic dip, too, which was garlicky and amazing. The pickled herring knocked our socks off, we ate two containers in one night! The prices are great, the ribeye was cheaper than Cub and the marbling was much better. The employees told me they get their meat from a place in Saint Michael, and I love that I can buy Minnesota products from a Minnesotan family. Keep it up Nelson's, I'll be back for more herring and donuts soon!!

Small local deli, specializing in jerky, brats, bacon, and quality cuts of meat. They also have a fair selection of sandwich meats and cheeses. They were originally located in Hopkins with a much larger lunch counter..while they still serve a good breakfast sandwich and a lunch menu, their baked goods and menu is much scaled down from the Hopkins days. Not dog friendly..but they have bike locks outside you can tie your dog up to ..and they do have a good selection of dog treats.

Picked up boxed lunches from here for a work lunch and overall was pretty unimpressed. The amount of meat on the sandwiches was very slim, and the mustard packets were discolored and very thick which leads me to believe it was outdated. Cookies were good!

First visit, just stopped in to check out the store. On offer: some baked goods including cookies and breads, a few deli salads and homemade pickles, bacon and sausages made on premise. Some frozen seafood including lobster tail and crab legs are available. The smoked salmon was sold out, but it is smoked on site. Several varieties of beef sticks, beef jerky and turkey jerky. The sliced meats are Boars Head. The Comfort Food Monday lunch offering was meatballs of some kind, but I didn't try it. Nelson's is worth checking out and I'll be back.
