Second year in a row we contacted them before leaving our house and driving 45 minutes to drop off a deer for processing and were told they were accepting deer and they were not. When I called to voice my frustration the owner got rude and abrasive and hung up on me. I WILL NEVER patronize this shop. So rude and unwilling to accept responsibility for their employees who give out false information.

We bought seven different varieties of their brats. Very disappointed, after sampling all seven we realized I didn't buy any from our local grocery as a back up. Next time when brats are mentioned, I won't be driving to Hugo.

If you love Brats this is the place for you! Over 100 different to choose from and they are known for the gummy bear brat! Our favorite is the philly cheesesteak brat. Cool little meat store in a country setting. We will be back again soon!

Heard about this place on the Garage Logic Podcast and just had to stop. We just flew back from LA into Minneapolis. It was only 30 minutes away from the airport and I had the time..... It was every bit as described. Helpful staff, over 100 brat flavors, gourmet hamburger's and more beef sticks than you could shake the teriyaki beef sticks I bought at. I'm already planning my next meat run.

Great meat shop. Some of the best beef jerky I have ever tried, the sweet n heat is excellent and I highly recommend. The fresh hamburger prices and very comparable to the chain grocery stores but the quality is top notch.

Incredible mom & pop shop of brats, other meats, miscellaneous. Their brats are of excellent quality & taste. Go here every summer - across the Twin Cities - to get brats. Their potato salad is awesome - I can't stand most store bought potato salad. And the people are great. It is really tiny so you'd want brats or basic meat products to go - but seriously, the flavors they offer and the quality of the brats makes it worthwhile. We've tried 12 different flavors this summer - amazed at the flavor.

Best brats in Minnesota! Try the gummy bear ones, sounds weird but tastes amazing. Nothing can replicate the biggest of sweetness and pork flavor every time you take a bite. Also try their cheese curd brats if they're in stock, you'll never have a better cheese-filled sausage.

Great brats with an amazing selection of flavors. More than 100 including my favorite mango habanero brats. They also process venison or other wild game and have relationships with local beef and pork providers and can sell whole cow or pig with amazing quality.

Never Again! I bought a side of beef for about $1000.00 last fall. I paid for bone and FAT! 8 pounds of chuck roast yields about 1 pound of meat. My requested 80% lean ground beef floats in grease. I like to support small businesses- but this was such a costly mistake I decided to share my comment. (To be truthful- I haven't contacted Grundhofers- I simply don't think it would do any good). Had the same experience with the bacon I bought- 5 1-pound packages- all fat! Good customer service & good Brats- but....

Gummy Bear Brats. Really. The Bears melt during cooking to add a nice sweet contrast to the meat. And usually leave a fun confetti color scheme in the brat. But if that is not what you want, they have over 100 other brat flavor options and are always well stocked with frozen sausages. Other meat supplies can be sparse, particularly if you come in late on Friday or warm weekend. Be sure to plan your cooking early and get great tasting cuts.
