My sister and brother-in-law are on their honeymoon in Stowe. With the help of Taylor at tourism Stowe and Leah at the Butchery I was able to get Leah to put together a picnic basket with all kinds of goodies from her shop. Just seeing the pictures from my sister I am over the moon happy with the end result. Thank you Leah and team for this amazing basket you put together.

I've only been here once to pick up a sandwich for lunch and this review is based on that single visit. The place looked clean and the employee was pleasant. I ordered one of their $8 subs and unfortunately that's where things went to "meh". The sub was on one of those super cheap "sponge" buns that you see laying around at every grocery store, and it completely dwarfed the subs ingredients - and I'm not implying that the bun was big. Overall the taste and experience did not exceed that of a refrigerated sub that you can get at most gas stations but at a much higher cost. I will not be returning.

Stopped in to pick up something for dinner for the family, was greeted promptly and courteously. The Filets they had on display were very oxidized, not grey yet, but very not bright red. Also they were extremely small, 6oz maximum for all of them. I asked for a fresh cut 10 oz filet, and three Terés Majors. They gave me two filets that totaled 1.2 lbs, one which was cut fairly well (still found some silver skin scraps) the other was obviously off of the head, and cut like a 4 year old with a butter knife. My other issue is they displayed "flat iron" but they just took a shoulder roast and cut it horizontally, which makes them lazy and liars, because I am well aware it is a difficult cut, but label it what it is; a shoulder top blade. The case was also not well kept, and was unproffesional. Better off going elsewhere.

We tried their house-smoked salmon as well as their fresh halibut and a ribeye. All were excellent. The ribeye in particular was delicious. It was thick cut and we cooked it to medium-rare. The meat was extremely flavorful and wonderfully tender. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

Great selection of dry aged beef and good choice of mutton. My deli sandwich was basically made with value bread. And when i was selecting meat from the counter there were small children, assumingly a workers children, behind the butchers counter touching EVERYTHING. Both workers present seemed unhygenic. I was told by the person at the counter that all the meat is sourced local to Michigan, i really hope thats true. Im a little crazy about cleanliness and the fact children are running wild behind the counter, but i will return. I hope they stick around and tighten everything up. We need a solid butcher in the area!

Great place! Super friendly service. Great selection of fresh meats. They carry seafood too. Tons of Michigan made products! Nice selection of produce. Homemade soups. Faygo pop and AWESOME sandwiches. They will custom make a sandwich too! I can't recommend The Butchery enough.

Why do I feel ripped off? I feel dumb and insulted now after the very offensive conversation I had with the butcher guy who pretty much forced me into buying something and not refunding my money. I don't think I should have to be insulted because of my lack of knowledge of prime rib cuts and the confusion that was caused when you tell people that something is $18.99 a lb and that 3 bones should be enough for 6 people. That seems like you should just say how many pounds it is and the total as well. Then, when I try to point it out, I'm told that "technically by law I don't have to take the meat back" says the butcher. And then says how can I fix it? Then weighs out more meat cuts and says nothing after that. Passes the transaction off to someone who did nothing to help and now I'm here with a small little roast that I don't even want anymore. Merry holidays ☹

Jeff, Leah, and their team do a superb job both in Stowe and Waitsfield. The fish and seafood - from smoked fish to salmon and tuna to shrimp cocktail - is all wonderfully fresh, perfectly cut, and impeccably presented. And the meat - in every form they present - is hard to beat. We had the most tender, fresh, and flavorful tenderloin for a Christmas Feast that could not be beat. Thanks to the whole team for their professionalism and friendliness, advice, and wonderful products. Try their rubs, spices, sauces too to accompany your dishes.

I recently purchased an order of meat lasagna from The Butchery. It was very different, but very good. Went back today and purchased 2 orders of the meat lasagna to have for dinner. It was the worst whatever I have ever tasted. It was more like a spicy Mexican dish, not lasagna. There were tons of carrots in it and they were raw. Terrible. I will not be going there again.

Great location, service and quality. You won't find better meat anywhere. Owners are almost always there (family owned). Also a deli, soup, sandwiches, and prepared food to bring home and warm up..... Simply the best.

The prices are fair and the service is beyond exceptional. I was considering a ribeye steak and was informed they didn't have any on the shelf but they'd cut one up for me right on the spot. It's that type of customer service that's the reason I'll continue to shop at this meat market. Superb service, keep up the good work guys!
