Recently a good friend purchased Prime Rib and when he cut down into the middle of it-a huge chunk of fat. They weren't pleased. It still tastes amazing but we will not be purchasing again.

We are new to Traverse City. We were not happy with the meat we were purchasing at the local grocery stores. Then we discovered Maxbauer's meat market and have not bought meat anywhere since. The meat is always fresh and the owners are very accomodating. We have asked for items that were not in their meat case and they made a special effort to see that we got what we asked for. If I could give them ten stars, I would.

The best of the best of the very best of places for that of meat and meat relations. I always get the porterhouse steak, and it's always exceptionally great. As with all the other meat, chicken, and so on and so forth. Friendly folk work there, a wonderful place to go, for sure.

Mark operates one of the best butchers, if not the best, in town. He is always handing out samples to make sure you like what you are going to get and is always willing to advise you on what to get. Mark gives back to the community and his customers- we are glad that he is there. I love the fajitas, sriracha lime chicken and of course, the bacon wrapped beef tenderloins.

Great meat selection and even better customer service. Myself and 7 other guys drove up to t.city for a bachelor party and decided to grill out one day. Stopped by maxbauer's and got hooked up. Ended up leaving there with steaks, pork chops, brats, and shrimp. They helped us with cooking suggestions and everything turned out perfect. Will definitely be making a stop on my next trip up.

Only being able to leave 5 stars doesn't do this place justice. One of the best customer service experiences I have ever been apart of. Mark was absolutely incredible. From start to finish he went over the top in every aspect. The delmonico steak jerky may be some of the best in the country. Because of the amazing experience I had, I will be recommending this place to everyone I know! Again, wish I could leave 10 stars, amazing, amazing, amazing. This place rocks. High quality meats and high quality customer service. Many times I'll just walk in without an idea for dinner and a staff member will help me figure it out. Also great for to-go sandwiches, the turkey wrap is my favorite. Also they give SAMPLES!!!

Frozen meats and you can definitely taste it, employees lack customer service and blankly stare when you walk in and are checking out. Prices are ok but seem extremely high knowing that it’s never “fresh” but “flash frozen”. Tried maxbauers meats a few times. It’s really not worth it. Would recommend literally anywhere else if you want fresh meat at a reasonable price.

The staff at Maxbauer's incredibly friendly and helpful. The guys behind the meat counter are really good about giving suggestions for meats/what to cook with them. I have purchased bacon (YUM), chicken breasts (regular and marinated), steaks and a turkey for Thanksgiving. Everything was excellent. I recommend them to everyone :)

Spend a few minutes telling the staff what you are looking to accomplish for your next BBQ, and you will get expect advice and fantastic quality to make your meal a success. They have amazing prices for such a small specialty outfit, and the craft beer selection is large and varied.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. The selection of meat is what first draws you in, but the customer service keeps you coming back! Mark and his staff know their stuff, and they're always helpful. The owner himself wanders the floor helping people out, which is super cool. He helped me pick out a brisket, trimmed it for me, and offered to season it if I didn't already have something at home. Then when I asked for some cooking tips, he ran to the back and gave me a bag of his own personal woodchips for my smoker! Not to mention he asked my name and then remembered it when I stopped in there again sometime later. So cool!
