Unfortunetly I cannot give a better rating or review. I heard good things about this restaurant so I called and made sure there would be a gluten free menu for my boyfriend a few weeks ago. They said they had an exstensive menu for gluten free. I was excited so we went there for date night maybe two or three weeks ago. In the end it was a huge wait to be seated then we had to wait a long time for food to come out then finally we waited for the check for literally 30 minutes. Overall the meal would have been much faster had our waitress been interested in asking if we were doing okay or needed anything, at all. They were not. Then we saw the gluten free menu and it’s almost nonexistent. When they have so many options of their menu I would have expected more than less than a dozen options to be provided for an “allergy”. He then got sick after confirming several times it was gluten free. Had it been a deadly peanut allergy we would be having a different issue had he been given it after saying he couldn’t have it. Being gluten free can have medical based reasons and not just be a trendy diet. It’s ridiculous that restaurants can cause people pain after saying it’s gluten free when it’s not. Deeply confused as to how that’s acceptable standards. We will not be going back, the reason we go on date night is to have a good time, not get sick. Personally I cannot in good conscience return to this restaurant and give them my money. Then after seeing what other people had to say about this restaurant and allergies, I should have known. Between the parking issues, poor customer service at the restaurant and the employee’s behavior and responses towards some of the negative comments, I am not returning. Furthermore I am actually concerned the type of response I might get from who’s in charge of their social media. We shall see if the owner and employees can take critism to heart and make necessary changes.

Another one if my favorite restaurants in the state. Little bit of a wait, but well worth it. They have a little of everything here. You could eat hear a dozen times and not get the same dish twice. Great burgers, steaks, and seafood. The deserts are so tasty too. They have craft beers on tap and aged wine too... Also they have there own butchery as well as a craft beer and wine shop.

Great service, phenomenal food, and overall and enjoyable and rustic dining experience. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the rooster balls were exquisite. 13/10 would come here again, it was absolutely worth driving an hour to get here.

I gave a 1 Star review only because unfortunately you can’t give zero stars . My nephew and I ordered steaks med well done and their Supermarket quality steaks gave me and my nephew food poisoning. It was so bad, worst steaks ever! We spend $100 for couple drinks and 2 steak dinners and got terrible food poisoning. I have an iron gut and their food made me go to ER last night. The following morning I talked with my nephew and find out that he got sick from Tuckaway's meats and foods after he left me that night. Starting talking to my friends and others I found out that there are other stories out there who got food poisoning from their food as well. Don't eat in Tuckaway Tavern, food poisoning waiting to happen!!

Was very disappointed in my Tuckaway experience. Had the mussels appetizer which was tasty but it was only accompanied with a half-slice of garlic bread to dip in broth/sauce and I was charged a dollar for an additional “slice” of garlic bread, which was literally a slice of toast with garlic butter (so cheezie). I ordered the meatloaf and smashed potatoes as my main course and I was told by the server it was supposedly an award winning dish. It was absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!! How do you screw up a classic dish? I’ll tell you how, you put a scoop of coleslaw on top of meatloaf cover it with a slice of salty provolone cheese and buried it under a pile of overcooked onion rings. If that isn’t bad enough the meatloaf was dry and very salty not to mention they charged a $1.50 for gravy. Who serves meatloaf and mashed potatoes and charges you for the gravy (are you kidding me)...Tuckaway Tavern that’s who!!! For being such a successful restaurant the “nickel and dime’ng” is a complete turn-off. I was surprised i didn’t get charged for the additional napkin I needed. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anybody just out of shear embarrassment ...definitely NOT worth the wait in line.

Love the market. The marinated steak tips are to die for. Sausage is good. They also have a variety of dips, spreads, beer and old fashioned sodas. Love their pickles and enjoy trying something new every time I get a chance to visit. Parking can be tough as they tend to be very busy.

Amazing down home cooked food! Quite a long wait because it's always packed, but totally worth the wait! You can browse the butchery and check out the miscellaneous things to purchase while you wait. Definitely recommend to everyone I know.

One of the best restaurants in New England. Massive meat market on site with endless choices. Beer market out back. Yes you will always wait to be seated because that's how it is at any great place. Staff was extremely nice and food was great. We ordered appetizers and drinks which came out quickly. Meals were large portioned and delicious. You will not be disappointed! Oh and try the Cheetos that are treated with liquid nitrogen! After you bite on them smoke comes from your nose like your a dragon...lol. We tried them and everyone at the table was shooting videos and laughing at each other.

Bar tenders are amazing. If something isn't quite right they fix it. However don't plan on ever getting a seat unless you have an hour to wait. Wish they would get different hamburger buns and get rid of their seasoning. Kosher salt and cracked pepper is all good ground beef ever needs. That is not an option though!

As always, best burgers ever!!! Always cooked exactly as requested. My 3yr old got the kiddie steak tips and they were perfect, she absolutely loves them. Love that the kids choices aren't like every other place that offer only chicken fingers or pizza. Hoping someday to see a brunch burger on the menu, yum!!

Words cannot explain how amazing and delicious all of the food is at this establishment!!! If I could give 10 stars I would... some people complain that the wait time is too long, however that is for a reason absolutely worth it. Been here many times and every single meal I had was perfect. Lobster and steak absolutely phenomenal and if you have a sweet tooth the Rooster Balls are a must!!

Service was excellent, restaurant has a nice interior and is very clean. Food was OK. I had a boneless ribeye. The quality of the meat was excellent. However, half of my steak seemed oversalted. It was extremely salty. The other half, however, was not over salted. Also I ordered the steak medium rare, but it was a little overcooked (more medium than medium rare). The mashed potatoes were excellent and the creamed spinach good. My wife had a southwestern chicken/biscuit dish. She liked it and thought it was good. The portions are generous and the staff are very friendly.

My mother took me here, as she had been before and I never had. It's over an hour away from where we live, but so worth the drive. Food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the wait wasn't too bad since we got there early. Would most definitely go again.

Absolutely the best steak I've ever had. A 45 day dry aged bone in rib eye. The other picture is the fried cheese. The only word of caution is the long wait times. 30-45 minutes for 2 people on a Saturday afternoon. That said the shops provide a good way to pass the time.

Lobster rolls are FABULOUS. BOGO on Monday and Tuesday. Unbelievable deal and delicious. Burgers amazing as well. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is cozy, but alive and busy. Great bar area. Hits ALL the high spots.

What a great meal. Staff was super friendly and helped make selections. We had the rooster balls for a starter. Mac & Cheese and Steak Tips for the meal with sides of beans and Mexican corn. The steak tips is some of the best steak we ever had.

If you are in the area tuckaway tavern is a must. The wait time can be long but it’s for good reason. The butchery is second to none with the best sausages anywhere. In the restaurant you will find the best waitress/ bartenders around, knowledgeable and friendly who hustles for your dining pleasure. The bar contains a rotating list of micro beers with many local brewers on tap and their custom cocktails are awesome. You will leave there full, food portions are huge.

Recently went to Tuckaway to get the Chicken pot pie. I did not realize menu had changed and I was given something not even close to the traditional pot pie that I was huge fan of. The waitress did nothing but say I guess its a taste thing and walked away. Im highly disappointed in this change and also the staff for bring so rude. I will not be going back, and will make sure to let my friends and family know of this awful expetience.

This is a great place with excellent food. Expect to wait for at least 45 minutes but it is a fun place to eat. Either the bar or a table you get great service and a decent drink selection. The butcher shop which is attached to the restaurant has awesome cuts of meat. Highly recommend.

Food was amazing!!! Everything from my daughters dish to my steak tips. The side dishes were great tasting and descent portions. My husband got the special prime rib and couldn't finish it, it was very big. Broccoli, bacon cashew side!!!!! Mmmm. The smashed potatoes were tasty. The steak tips marinade was so good. In my opinion the restaurant is understaffed, cheeseburger was raw in the middle and on a Wednesday night they ran out of chips, a popular brand of beer and the desert special.....this experience was very similar to my first visit. Unfortunately I won't go back . Btw I messaged the business after my first visit and shared my concerns, but I received no response.

Tuckaway Tavern was a decent experience. The wait was over an hour and half long for six. The place was clean and nicely decorated. The food was a hit or miss but at least everything was fresh. We ordered the pig pile for an app which was very tasty. More than half of our meals were not worth the wait! The ribs were delicious however the sides were quite bland. The burger we ordered was burnt and very dry. My three kids each ordered a meal and didn’t like any of them. I will likely not return.

Had a wondeful experience at the tuckaway tavern my wife and I had never been there before. The hostess were excellent and the wait was 45 minutes but we were seated in about 25-30 minutes, was well worth the wait. Our waitress was outstanding explained Everything about the menu and very attentive. The food portions were very generous and nice and hot. I would recommend this restaurant highly. My wife and I will definitely be repeat customers.

Wow!! What a fabulous place! The lobster roll was amazing and it was Tuesday, so they were buy one get one. We had a sweet, knowledgeable waitress, Kristy. The hostesses were wonderful and gave us the suggestion of the drunken fries and boy, were they right! Bacon, ipa infused cheese sauce, scallions and sweet peppers! Yum!! If you are anywhere close, it's well worth the drive.

I went into the butcher shop and nobody could answer my questions. I went there for some good steak for my father's birthday. I called ahead to see if they sold USDA prime steak over the counter and was assured that today they do. I tried to ask some questions about quality and what they would recommend. it was like it was a joke to 3 of them. I went with the original recommendation and it was more of a buy the most expensive thing not the best thing. I left with three bone-in Ribeyes and one porterhouse @ 15.99 per lb when I took a step to my left around the pole blocking my view I saw boneless rib eyes that looked twice as good as far as quality for the same price per pound as the bone in. So it seems to me I paid $93 for a four pack of beer and four steaks then I could have got for $11.99 per lb at Hannaford. Also I drove all the way from Strafford New Hampshire about 35 to 40 minutes away. I will say that I have always had great luck and delicious food in the restaurant and I did not expect to be treated that way in The Butcher Shop.

Great food, great service and unbelievable menu. Hard to get in sometimes in less than 45 mins. And then even harder to wait for the table with the great butcher shop in the same building. Also, aged meat and craft beer section to highlight any meal you're going to prep.

The food has always been pretty good. The experience I had today was decent although they struggled with cleanliness and the wait was long.. Honestly after reading the disgustingly UNPROFESSIONAL responses from the owner in his negative Google reviews I have zero desire to return. I would be embarrassed to be employeed by such a condescending and nasty person and I refuse to give my business to him... I will also pass the message along to my friends and family. People like that are part of the problem, not the solution. You can stand up for your establishment... just have some decency.

Customer service is very important factor for me in a restaurant followed by quality of food. Our table got several appetizers which were all winners, and the lobster mac and cheese was delicious! The food was great. There were lots of different choices. I had steak tips with beans and mashed potatoes. The mixed drinks weren’t very good though. They skimp on stuff like chambord and other alcohol. Had another mixed drink and very diluted. The shop to buy stuff closes at 8 so you better get your goodies before. It would have been nice to get a pack of craft beer to-go or T-shirt. Bartenders where funny shirts. No ad on or changes to an order. Once it’s final, it’s final. Must have an old system. Have to visit again though to try some of the other food.

I have not been to Tuckaway since it opened. I was able to find a parking spot and table right away by arriving early on a Friday, about 4pm. I received great service right away! I was brought housemade chips and water with lemon while I perused the menu. I had the baked haddock crema, haddock with creamy truffle spinach and French onion cracker crumbs. I had Mac and cheese and Asian cole slaw as sides. The food tasted good and the portions were huge! I was told most people couldn't finish and do doggy bag. I had no room for dessert. My server, a young woman who's name starts with Ja and a lot of people mispronounced, was friendly, engaging and checked up on me, as did the young woman who seated me. I was told Sundays are very, very busy, especially Easter Sunday! Parking available behind Rite-Aid. I usually see lines and people waiting when I drive by around dinner time. Prices are a little high but portions are good! I recommend this restaurant. This restaurant is popypop in the Hippo newspaper. Large butchery section. Food looks good. Local groceries available, though higher in prices, which is common.

This was some of the best, if not the best, food I've had this year. With an amazing selection of Entres, Apps, and seasonal drinks, I have never experienced such great combinations of flavors. The wait was long, over 45 minutes despite it being not as crowded as I'm told it normally is. The service was great and really did a great job understanding and getting us food. The food was remarkable. The nachos were especially good and flavorful. The buffalo chicken dip was fresh. The chips were crunchy and delicious. I also tasted bison for the first time, which was cooked perfectly. I would absolutely go back.

Horrendous customer service provided to me after requesting they create a gluten free menu when their website explicitly states they don’t have one. I was then treated rudely by an employee with the social media maturity of a 12 year old and was attacked for a simple and understandable request. Did not try to understand how it is frustrating to not know what food options people on diets have until already at the restaurant. They went on the offense immediately and showed no class. Perhaps employees should be briefed on proper communication with customers over social media messaging. Poor customer service and I suggest that anyone who wants to be treated kindly and eat gluten free food, should go somewhere else. Truly disappointed by this restaurant

We have been frequent patrons for the 2 for 1 lobster rolls on Mondays and Tuesdays. Atmosphere casual, beer cold with a great selection and the food great. Try it, you'll like it. They do have many other things besides lobster.

I never get tired of coming here even when I just come to meet up with friends enjoy a salad and their amazing smashed potatoes. The food is always delicious and the service is always great. The food is always good and tastes fresh. I have never left the restaurant and not stopped in their store to buy something. They have a huge selection of food including marinated meats, sausages, salads such as potato or their broccoli and cashew salad. They also have a selection of desserts and another whole section of amazing beers. If you ever thought about coming here, just make it happen...you won't regret it.

It was an hour wait. I'm told pretty normal. We got sat and the waitress came over to take our drink order. We got water . Took about 10 mins to actually get the water. We then ordered our food. This was now 30 mins after we were sat. It took over 45 mins to get our food . I know it's busy but I've been in busy places before and it did not take nearly as long . The waitress refilled our water once before the meal finally came out. The food for the most part was amazing . I got steak tips with sides of loaded potato and Mac and cheese. The tips fell apart as I cut them and were cooked perfect . The potatoes were done well, but the Mac and cheese was very very bland. I mean the food was good but service wasn't the best. I am just leaving after being here for over 2 and a half hours .

Wow what an amazing restaurant!!! The portions are huge so don't order too many appetizers! The steak was so tender and juicy it melted in my mouth! Make reservations in advance the wait time can be long. It is worth the wait in the end though.

Every time my family has visited, we always go to Tuckaway. The butcher shop is amazing with reasonable prices for outstanding meat and the beer shop is my Dad's favorite place!

No idea how anybody can give this place less than 5 stars! The lobster mac and cheese is the best ever! Plus it comes with two sides! Their steak tips are phenomenal! We've gone here many times and every time the service is top notch and so is the food! You'll probably wait for about an hour or so to get seated on any given night but the wait is totally worth it!

Incredible restaurant. The wait was rather long but there is a deli counter and store to browse while you wait. The service was phenomenal. Great waitresses. They have a good selection of beers. The dinner was wonderful. Mac n cheese was the best!

I remember the first time I had tried the tips from the tavern and I have been hooked ever since. I would always make the trip to the butchery so I could stock my freezer. I have since moved to Florida and my wife and I have looked everywhere down here to find something comparable to the meats that you serve and there is nothing in our area. I am so happy that they ship all over. I just placed another order and can’t wait for that to arrive. I love that it comes fresh and in 2 days. Thank you.

Tuckaway Tavern is a great restaurant. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is nice and cozy NH. They have a great selection of local NH brews to choose from. And the food is awesome! Starting with the homemade chips with the delicious sauce. So good! And you have to get one of their famous burgers. The only problem is deciding which one to try! Don’t forget about the buy one get one free lobster roll deal on Mondays and Tuesdays! And they have an amazing butcher shop with anything you could want. And if you spend over $50 you get to spin a wheel to get a prize. Last time we get two free pounds of Pork! But the restaurant does get very busy and they don’t take reservations or call ahead seating. So plan ahead! It’s well worth it.

It's a fun menu- whoever made up the names of the dishes has a great sense of humor. We've been coming to this area once a year for about 10 years and the food is always good, service always good. The atmosphere is comfortable. The store is fabulous too. Lots of good, tasty stuff to buy and travel back home with. LOVE this place!

First time here and won’t be the last. I have to say I was simply impressed with everything. Little bit of a wait but you have the butcher shop to check out plus a beer store. I got the big 8oz buy one get one free lobster roll warm with butter and WOW! Next time I’ll go with the smaller one and definitely buy some meats for grilling!

My family LOVES this place for both the food and the butchery. I’ve ordered a gift card online twice now. The first time I had it mailed and it arrived on time despite the snow. The second time I had it sent via e-mail and the recipient deleted it. Management was SUPER helpful in getting it resent!

Unassuming place from the outside. We stopped by chance expecting your average New Hampshire “restaurant” with hillbillies dressed in camouflage from head to toe. Man were we wrong, they have a market attached to it, with craft beers, and their butcher shop had steaks that were bordering prime grade. The restaurant itself is nicely put together, very comfortable and clean, great staff. Pulled pork was awesome and the NY strip was cooked to a perfect Pittsburgh rare.

We called three hours in advance with an attempt to reserve seats for a large party. Was told by the server that as it was a Tuesday and they've never had a wait time longer than two hours and to show up early to put our names on the list. We sent someone an hour in advance and was told there would be a two and a half hour wait on a Tuesday night. The manager told us they were the busiest restaurant in New England and too bad... awesome food great ambience service is adequate. This place is always packed with an hour plus wait. The wife and I decided to go late on a weeknight and that was a good decision. Had the autumn pie and it was just what I wanted on a chilly pre-snow evening. wife had chicken pot pie and it was killer also. Portions are huge. only reason for the four stars is the service could be better from the door to the manager no one is overly friendly.

I decided we were going to try Tuckaway Tavern for the first time today. Well when we get there to put our names on the waitlist they tell us 45 minute wait and an 1 hour and 15 minutes later our pager starts vibrating. Then they sit us at a high top table right by the bar. Our waitress basically just wanted to get us in and out as quick as possible and was absent minded. So I ordered the steak tips and they weren't that good. The steak tips were cold, the "smashed potatoes" were so bland I felt like I was at retirement home and the coleslaw tasted like it was store bought. So, needless to say this will probably be my first and last time here.

Generous portions with tempting sides and fresh salads is a reason to give this place a try. Seeing all the awards earned as "best of" on the wall and a butcher shop full of every cut of beef being marinated to be ready to cook at home are reasons to come back over and over again.

The parking lot is a utter mess, something needs to be done... I'm surprised there are not accidents/fights daily out there. We waited an hour and a half for a table of 5 on a Tuesday night after being told an hour. Service was good! High quality meats, but not the best. I'm happy we tried it, but will not be returning.

If you like waiting 2+ hours to get a table, this is the place for you. Every time we’ve gone there, no matter what day or time, it has always been a ridiculously long wait. The 2 times we actually waited to get a table, the service was very slow, which explains the wait I guess. The food was pretty good, but some of it was cold. Today we tried to order takeout, which we have in the past, but when we called we were rudely informed that they don’t do takeout anymore, and then they hung up on us. We do, however, like the steak tips from the butcher shop. The shop is usually busy, but not as ridiculous as the restaurant.

Awesome food and GREAT service! Our server Benjamin gave us so many awesome recommendations on the menu. We had the Ribeye and Steak Tips and they were both delicious and very flavorful! We also were recommended the special desert The Snickerdoodle Cheesecake and it was amazing! Overall we had a great experience and only waited about 15 minutes for a table on a Friday night. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

It was my first visit but my friends said I wouldn't be disappointed. They have a big menu with a variety of food, most have won awards. I had award winning Mac & Cheese steak bomb (steak tips), 3lbs of it with two sides.!! Prices were awesome, service awesome, wait staff awesome, atmosphere awesome and comfortable. I will be going back again.!! There was plenty of parking and they have a butcher shop attached. Can't say enough about Tuckaway Tavern.!

Delicious as usual. I had The Bomb burger. So good and so filling. We got there at 3:00 on a Monday and didn't have to wait but it was very busy. Then I went to the marjet and stocked up for the grilling season. Bonus! On Monday's and Tuesday's when you spend $50 in the market, you get to have a spin on the wheel of meat (?) where I walked away with a pound of steak tips. For free!

Waited in line for over 1.5 hours. The attitude of the host was so absurd that they made us wait even longer after we were paged because they only had high tables (at the bar) availble. Had to wait an extra half an hour to get a normal table, then had to wait 20 minutes before we could even get some water and then order. Another hour passed before food arrived and it was disappointing compared to the hype. You can get this level of food at so many other places with no line and cheaper price. Don't go here!!!

Simply delicious! To start the sweet potato biscuits are to die for (and I’m not a fan of biscuits generally). Steak tip burger was the best burger I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked. Two for one lobster rolls is a sort of a mind blowing special and they definitely lived up to their hype. Nice side dishes for our vegetarian daughter with the Asian salad and broccoli salad...and homemade Mac and cheese. Yummy!!! Only thing we didn’t enjoy completely were the beans and bland pickle spear. So minor. Will go back time every time we visit our kids in New Hampshire from Wisconsin!

Our favorite butcher! We drive more than 30 minutes to the Tuckaway Butchery for the simple fact that their products are the best. We have a local high-end (and very expensive) butcher in our town, but the quality of meat and the expert, friendly service at Tuckaway is far superior to any other place north of Boston. Their sausage is outstanding! Special orders are always welcome and prepared to exceed ones expectations.

Have some good food like their chicken pie and blueberry ball dessert but found hamburgers to taste like thwy had a filler of some type. Went there several times and had 1 hour wait and lousy parking situation. Went there tonight and asked for quiet seating because the restaurant was really loud. Asked to sit in front quiet area and told no and was suggested by their staff to go to Telly's which we did and had a wonderful meal and dessert. Expect a long wait. Sometimes up to 2 hours. I normally wouldn't wait at any restaurant for that long. But I really have to say it's worth the wait. There isn't one bad thing on the menu. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is country/homie. The portions are huge so bring your appetite. My favorite is the meatloaf. Here's a pic of the chicken pot pie. Yes.... that's a deep fried chicken foot.

The food is excellent and the wait staff is very friendly. However the some of the upper management has no respect for their workers. As a someone who has worked as a temp and an employee for them i can say with no bias that they regularly leave their lower level employees with bad situations. Like having them come in, and before the employee even clocks in telling them they're not needed but not compensating for travel/time expenditures (and thats just one example). So i therefore have a hard time giving a higher rating. Its a shame too because the food truly is excellent and alot of the workers are truly hard working individuals. Even worse is the lack of respect they have for their customers that don't fawn all over them. If you express ANY sort of displeasure or disagreement, well.....just scroll down and see how they respond to requests for gluten free options....

I had been looking forward to trying this place since seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and dives. I finally made it tonight. After driving just over an hour I was ready for a good meal, I wasn't disappointed. The steak and cheese burger was one of the best I've ever had. The corn dogs (I think they have a special name) were outstanding. Unfortunately I had a long drive home so I couldn't partake in any of the adult beverages. The staff was courteous and attentive and prices were very reasonable. I also bought a steak and a pound of bacon from the butcher shop. I am looking forward to a return visit!
