I drive down from NH about 3-4 times a year, just to go to Bob's. My neighbor (a former Medford resident) introduced me to Bob's several years ago. I will be forever greatful! Love the thick sheet pizza, huge subs, and the italian meats and cheeses behind the deli counter. They make pasta dishes to go, right in front of you! My wife and daughters love the chicken broccoli alfredo with ziti. Made from scratch, one order at a time.

This was one of the most authentic New England Italian markets I've been too. The staff was friendly and efficient. They had a huge variety of homemade raviolis, pastas, and other Italian products. The food was ok. I got a hot pastrami sandwich, which was good, but extemely salty because they put so much meat inside. Chicken BLT was delicious. It took a while to make, although this is because the chicken was cooked fresh.

I used to frequent Bob's quite a bit back when I used to live in Somerville, not too far from there, for over three years. I heard about the place from a few friends, saw the hype on Yelp, and being a lover of Italian food, decided to drive over to check it out. Upon walking in, I knew that this place was special. I slowly eased myself in as a consumer. Originally, for the first couple of trips there, I didn't get much more than a sub and a drink but eventually I decided to brave the lines at the deli counter and haven't looked back since. Whether you want some great cheeses, meats, olives or Italian delicacies, this place has you covered. My wife and I drive there annually now to get some cold cuts for the traditional post-Christmas party we attend and everyone loves it every single time. We also swing by when in the area. From my numerous visits there, I've always left very happy, except one instance. The service, the prices and the selection is fantastic although parking can be tricky since it's street parking only. And the only time I wasn't fully satisfied was during Christmas vacation when I placed my order in over the phone. I arrived to an extremely busy store to pick it up and they have essentially tripled everything that I wanted in my order. I could have had it adjusted, but that would have meant having to wait in line for 2+ hours to get it adjusted and to pay so I just paid and left instead. I guess there could be bigger problems in life then too much prosciutto, salami and provolone. Aside from the cold cuts, deli items and subs, they also offer pizza and also have various convenient items like fresh bread, all kinds of dried pastas, salads and cheeses. They also import all kinds of Italian products like Nutella, olive oils, tomato sauces and also have a frozen food section where you can buy various frozen pastas. Overall it's a great store but depending on when you go, you'll just have to be patient. But you will be generously rewarded by waiting and Bob himself is a very friendly man and plays a big role in the local community.

Go in hungry at your own risk - everything in here looks, smells, and tastes incredible! Even if you're "sure" you want one of their amazing Italian sandwiches, you have to walk past the fresh antipasti and the sheets of hot, cheesy Sicilian pizza to get to the sandwich counter. Good luck!

A life long customer who moved away. Been coming here all my life. The best local takeout sub/prepared food shop around. Great food and friendly staff. Only issue is they dont know how to handle customers when great service isn't being presented. Just recently stopped by to pick up some take out while visiting family in city. Ordered 2 subs and 1 slice of cheese pizza for 2 year old son. When I arrived right before busy lunch rush I was 1 of 3 customers waiting for food. They were making a new tray of cheese pizza to accommodate the last piece of my order. At one point there was over a dozen of customers waiting for food, getting their orders and leaving. I waited 55 minutes for that slice of pizza. At one point I asked the owners son how much longer and how displeased I am that I was never told how long the wait would've been in the first place. Sat and watched my other food get cold. Owner could care less. Never offered and apology or anything. Only person who apologized was one of the food makers I didn't even deal with the whole time. When i checked out i asked ladies for the owners number and they told me i can call into the shop. Nice. Maybe ask to take my number down next time. This is the type of stuff that ticks me off about service. This place is so popular and we'll off they don't care if lousy service is given. Sorry Bob maybe you need to get some management with personality that can "manage"

Lady on the phone said they do not toast the bun or any sub roll which is odd maybe if they did their subs wouldn't be so soggy, steak and cheese was not great pretty bland, despite asking for extra cheese there was barley any. My girl got the half and half which is a great idea but again having sauce on it made for a very sloppy, soggy sub. Chicken parm half was nothing special however the meatball half was incredible would probably come back for only a meatball sub or maybe just the meatball dinner since they can not simply toast the bread

I want to live here. I live 1.5 blocks away and I would consider moving into this store just to be closer to my favorite sandwich. The place is cramped and you often end up standing way too close to a bunch of strangers, but the food is just so good. The deli counter is fast and efficient (except the one guy who I'm pretty sure is stoned 100% of the time). I love the seafood salad and the smoked turkey, my boyfriend is partial to the meatball sub. We always get the house fries, their smaller than the steak fries that come if you order "regular" fries and so so so very good. The variety of fresh pasta, marinated meats, sausages, fresh desserts, sauces, calzones, its just unending and amazing. We probably get a meal from here at least once a week.

Had a meatball parm submarine sandwich. The meatballs were cold and the peppers were cooked in oil that had a funny taste. My friend who had a pastrami sandwich was shocked at the prize $10 saying that he could have the same quality /size for $7. Post script. I received a response in a very timely manner from Bob. He invited me to come back to try another submarine sandwich. I ordered the Italian sub at the recommendation of an employee. It was stellar! Fresh bread, abundant with meats and Italian spices. Would definitely go back again. They redeemed themselves!

While On my way to Boston’s Logan Airport on Tuesday (May 21, 2019) I made a slight detour to Bob’s (Italian) Food Store in South Medford and picked up a roast beef sub sandwich. After visiting all 50 states and eating sandwiches in most I can confidently say that Bob’s has the best sandwiches in the USA and most likely beyond. If you are in the area you should stop by and check them out. (My first visit to Bob’s was in 1970 !)

This place has been my favorite sandwich shop and go to place for catering for the last 20 years. All I can say is try it, you will not be disappointed. There 6 foot party sandwich is the best. My two favorite sandwiches are the chicken parm and the steak bomb. Let's not forget about there butcher shop packages and of course the house made sausage. They have great package deals. My favorite is the house made sausage. I can't wait to pull out the grill and fire them up.

I specifically ordered a calzone to be heated and ready by 12:15. I was 3 minutes late but when I got it, it was alreadt cold. Then I waited another 10 minutes to have it heated again. Once I paid for it, i realized I was over charged and when I called her on it, she said that's the price. I had her check the menu she had and then she agreed with me. Over all not a good experience but the calzone was good.

Hands down the best Italian market/ Food in the state!! To start the staff is so friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of food and literally everything is good. But they have a deluxe imported Italian sub that will absolutely blow you away! It literally doesn't compare to any other Italian sub I've ever had. The meat in this sub is Delicious- it's quality you can taste! The toppings are fresh. And they use thickly sliced hot cherry peppers instead of the ordinary minced cherry peppers- the difference this made to a spicy food lover like myself was beyond measure. I can't say enough nice things about this place

I've only had a chicken parm sub once but it was the best chicken parm I've ever had. The place itself is very crammed as they're running not only the food service side but a full deli as well as a small grocery section in the space you'd expect from just an eatery with just a few seats. You'll get brusque service, but that's really part of the charm. Just step up and demand your order in true New England fashion. The meal itself is worth it.

This was literally the most disappointing order i've EVER received. Ordered mozzarella sticks and a chicken salad sub....the mozzarella sticks were literally EMPTY! Fried dough shells..Zero mozarella. Please explain to me how this is even possible. How do you make a fried shell with no mozzarella in it? Every single one was empty. The bread on the chicken salad was hard and stale but the filling was decent (at least it was there). Will NEVER order from here again. What a waste of money. LET DOWN!

This place has pretty big subs and salad too. However, the salad are just that, BIG. GIANT CHUCK OF TOMATOES, WHOLE LETTUCE LEAF, WHOLE CHUNK OF ONIONS. I would recommend to stay away from their salad. They taste all right, but you feel you are eating like a wild animal.

I love Bob's but not today ..I was disappointed.. I just picked up 3 subs..2 were pepper steak with cheese and the last one, a small Italian..whoever made the Italian did not cut thru the braided roll enough and all the cold cuts sat close to the top of the sandwich and cut so close to one side that when I unwrapped the paper the braided roll was in pieces.I have never had this issue before but if you cut up a roll the wrong way don't pass it off just cut a new roll..thanks

Here for me weighed the goods with a nonexistent price, increased by $ 1.7, this is after I clarified the price. Who had previously had similar situations in this store, keep the checks. After I told this situation to my friend, the owner of a chain of stores and restaurants, his reaction was negative and he told me not to visit this store again. I do not recommend this place !!!

The best Italian market north of the North End, and without North End Prices! The imported meats and cheeses are of a phenomenal quality. Furthermore, I highly recommend ordering a sandwich from them, you can't go wrong. My personal favorites are the IMPORTED ITALIAN and their ROAST BEEF subs. Roast beef is done in-house. Now I got myself salivating, time for a BOB's sandwich!

Just purchase a Greek salad with Med rear stark tips. I brought it home the tips are tough and well done and the salad is not made to eat on the go, everything is to big to cut with a plastic knife and folk. I must say something now. The first few times I didn't I've grown up on bobs. Somethings going on the last time I ordered a jumbo to have lunch the next day for $1.00 more and got a small i called and wasn't given a refund I was just told see Bob next time you come in. That's not me so I didn't see Bob its been a few months I had a sour taste. After a few months I ordered again tonight, again my order was wrong. So long Bob senior kraft was doing ok I'm not sure who is running the place now but this was my last trip and will no longer recommend it.

This was my first visit and will certainly be many more. On a busy corner of a main road and a one, so parking can be tough but totally worth the effort. You walk in to see a grocery fully stocked with fresh Italian Ingredients. The Deli in the back serves a full lunch menu, but all food is to go as there is no seating available. I also noticed you can order from here through grubhub.

Buy their subs. I regularly get their Italian sub, yep,the standard Italian. Honestly, that is all I have purchased, five or six visits so far. It is too good to pass up. Last night I got a jumbo sub, I cut it in half and am having it for two meals. Perfect meal if you add a bag of chips. The jumbo sub is $9, and they are generous with all toppings. There is a reason this place is so popular. It is packed with all sorts of Italian side dishes, ready to eat, or ready to cook. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Incredible old-fashioned Italian deli that has stood the test of time. Big subs with tons of flavor, lots of excellent cuts of beef for grilling, homemade sausages, and so much more. Get the "Caprese" - Decadent prosciutto melts in your mouth, paired perfectly with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil. The only "issue" with this place is that they're quite busy during lunch and dinner hours, so you may have a small wait. That being said, they have excellent customer service and always plenty of people on staff.

I'm not sure of the other food options, but their large subs are the bomb. My friend has ordered the 6 ft sub for a couple of parties and it was a complete hit. Everything was delicious, they provided all the proper condiments, and we managed to inhale the sub by the end of each party. I have nothing but kudos for Bob's.

I was picking up sandwich and salads for family and friends today food is always fresh top quality.It can get crowded at lunch but they are fast highly recommend.

So disappointed.. got a large order on mother's day.. things ordered were missing.. website was down, so spoke to live person.. nothing was labeled or cut. No napkins or Utensils.. everything dry and unseasoned. Certain sandwiches had the big bread but very little in it... Last time going there..

Food is ok. Customer service terrible. I ordered and paid online. Went to pick it up worker tells me my order is all set. I drive home and find out im missing a sandwich. I call them and the manager blames it on me for not checking the bags. I ask for him to take that sandwich off my card since i already paid for it and did not receive it. I gave him my card twice over the phone and still havent seen it refunded. Im reporting to Better Business Bureau
