We've got all the opinions of people like you who buy the services of The Whole Ox (Butcher Shop) in the state of Maryland.
At this moment the firm receives a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and the score is based on 49 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is almost the top, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the rating is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are pleased, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Butcher Shop is included in the category of Butcher shop.
I might have gone on the wrong night but the tables were so closely placed that I bumped 3 people just sitting down. I could not hear the people at my own table! The menu was nice and very appealing. Not too expensive for all natural local and organic foods. I simply wish there was more room there!
Great butcher's. Nice wine selection. Lovely people. Good food to eat in or take out
Soft shells crabs were the best as were the fried oysters.
We love The Whole Ox. I buy Ox Boxes all the time and their meat is a step above EVERYONE. I love knowing that my meat is locally sourced and humanely raised. I have special ordered Christmas Dinner from here the past two years and not been disappointed yet. There is truly a noticeable difference in quality and taste to the meat you can purchase at the grocery store, even if it is organic. Highly recommend this place! It's affordable too!
Amazing place to get fresh meats, produce, bread and dairy! They carry meat from Creekstone farms (my personal favorite), roseda farms and buffalo creek farms. I highly recommend coming in here if you are in the area.
Best burger outside DC. Love this little Gem. Quite a drive, even from Gainesville. Right next to a popular bakery and another fantastic restaurant. This place has awesome beer and all types of very fresh meat. The inside is vary quaint and every so often you smell meat bring smoked meat outside where you park. Parking is behind the building. I wonder what the building used to be. It's a very old building. I also learned the town was named after john Marshall Thomas Jeffersons Supreme Court justice then we drove down the road to see his mansion
Had a class on how to butcher a lamb. It's obvious by talking to these guys how much they care about their products and what they do. It shows in the quality of meats. Worth the little extra you pay. The class was excellent and their selection was great, looking forward to another visit sooon.
Always an amazing selection of meat, cheeses, wine, and assorted groceries. The restaurant in the evening is delicious with excellent service.
There are not enough superlatives to describe this place. Have you ever wanted to shop in a market and not worry about the quality of the product you pick up? This place will give you that opportunity. Everything is "local" and thoughtfully selected by the staff before its put to market - from the beer, the meat, the milk, to the beef jerky. The owners and their staff are excellent and the customer service is top notch - need a 7 lb. beef tenderloin for the weekend, they'll find one for you if they don't already have one from one of their local, sustainable farms; and I guarantee it will be the best tenderloin you have ever had. Just check it out.
Food is excellent, Clean friendly staff
Best Martini and definitely the best steak in town!
Beautifully butchered cuts, tasty homemade cured meats (try the head cheese yum), and friendly service. Sandwiches are awesome and just reward for post hike bliss or general face stuffing. Here I took some banhmi to go.

Forget the Popeyes vs chi-fil-a debate; for the best fried chicken sandwich you could ever imagine just go to the whole ox. Really.

Always a great place to get superior quality meats! I got the lamb sausage and made Gyros with it. Terrific!

Friendly, prompt service. Delicious organic food, and nice atmosphere.
An awesome shop! Great place to find great cuts of meat, local products and ingredients, delicious wines, cheeses, and pre-made dishes.
Excellent meat and wine selections! This is a cute little store with friendly and helpful staff. We love making the drive out to pick up the best cuts of meat.
Great lunch! And after lunch, you can select some food to bring home to cook the next day.
It always smells so amazing in there!
I've picked up several different cuts of meat here and they're always top quality. Great selection always on display and you can order pretty much anything you'd like.
I just love this place ! Great chicken sandwich. Love their chicken and beef pies, soups and meats! Only wish we lived closer.
Fantastic restaurant, bar, and butcher!! The burger was the best I've had in years.
Wonderful burgers and fries.

The food is fresh and grown healthily. They have a wonderful selection of beverages, including wines.
Worst experience ever. Appetizers were good, but they lost us after bringing one entree out and left the other 3 of us sitting there for 30 minutes. No one even came to check on us or let us know if the rest of the food was on the way. After having to get up and go to them, they told us "that's how it was rung in, but we will start it now. " No apology, no explanation of what happened, no concern they ruined an evening for two couples, no discount on the items we did receive, just a rude staff. We canceled the food and left. They even tried to make us wait and take our dinner in a to go box and charge us for it. Still can't believe what happened and how they handled it, or more accurately didn't handle it. The editor of a restaurant review site was with us, can't wait to read that review.
Great food and really friendly. They have the best bacon I've ever had.
I have never been to the whole ox but I have drove past it and I hate it When your Wi-Fi grabber invades my privacy and I get A request For me to rate A establishment I would never frequent I only tapped one star because I could not send this without doing so
Awesome old school butcher. Sign up for emails and you will also hear about some awesome opportunities and offerings. Worth the drive.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop! We live within walking distance, and I have gone several times with my baby and dog in tow. (I've gone an additional 100 times in the car :))They let me tie pup outside the shop while I browse. It is a tad pricey but everything is local, free range, grass fed, fresh and natural goodness. It is WELL worth every penny and we won't buy our meat, broths or eggs anywhere else. They also have a lovely selection of wines and beers, broth, dairy and other delicious gourmet foods and goodies. Service is always great and the staff is very knowledgeable about their items. I feel I've even got to know some of the workers--they take care to remember their customers and are very personal. I highly recommend you try this place once--you won't regret it!

Walked in for the first time around noon today. Customer service was outstanding. Tried the roast beef and cheddar lunch takeaway. Best sandwich I've had for lunch in a while. Definitely will be going back. The store is very clean and well organized with a very nice selection of meats and other products.
Awesome food and ambience. Commited to local cuisines and produce. Its cool that they have decent food in the kitchen as well as good produce.
I have eaten here twice and have evangelized at least one friend who concurs this is the best fried chicken sandwich (with incredible bacon) we've ever eaten. Maybe the best sandwich, even better than Turkey and the Wolf (rated best restaurant in the US a year or so ago). So good I don't mind shivering if the a/c vent is blowing right down my neck.
They don't ask you how you want the meat cooked; don't worry, this is a good thing, as this place turns your thinking of protein as a necessity in every meal into the delicacy of the day. Only reason it's not a five is just because of personal preferences on space. A tad exclusive. Otherwise, seasonal mixed drinks, seasonal sauces, attentive and well-informed staff with excellent cuts of meat make the drive out more than worth it! A must-see of Marshall, VA.
The whole ox is up there with field and main as a notable place to go in Marshall VA. They make awesome cocktails and food (whether the restaurant or the butcher shop, all their food is awesome). The staff is great, the service is great, the wine selection...I could go on but I think you get the point. the only downside for me is that I commute to DC for work and so I don't get back in time to enjoy them in the evening... They used to have later hours but they changed it a few months ago. I don't hold it against them though...it's better for the staff and the business to have more consistent, shorter hours.
Bougie Charcuterie. The sausages are good and the selection varies according to what has been freshly made on site. Locally sourced meats at absurd prices.
Meatloaf awful Spent $24 on a small Meatloaf wrapped in bacon. As it cooked, the bizarre smell shold have been warning enough, but seeing as we spent almost $30 and didn't have any thing else to eat for dinner, we attempted to eat it. Vile. The taste was horrible. There must have been more ingredients than what the label listed - the flavor was unidentifiable - like smoked melted plastic, and overly spiced gamey sausage. There were small bits that were hard and un-chewable - cartilage or something. We went hungry and didnt eat it. Never again.
