Dear male kitchen worker(Hector?), You need a lesson in cooking GOURMET foods. These sandwiches go for ten buck a pop. I dont think you make that in an hour so have some respect for the ingredients, if nothing else. When I order a high-end(ish) burger the last thing you/I want to see is some hump press all the juices out of the quality patty. This may fly at Wendy's but it should not at any establishment or any place that uses quality meat. If you dont have product knowlege, dont front like you do($)... I blame the training not you. I DO blame you for your macho man ego that is totally unfounded and simply not backed up by the lack of quality you assemble day in & day out. You may have mad skills at the HO-JO or IHOP on RT 1 but you are simply a bad fit for the Red Apron. I have been to the Union Market & Penn Quarter locations and they are awesome and look forward to getting quality products in the future. The back bar at the Penn Quarter location is really a nice addition to the concept. The truly scary thing is THE attitude that is dispensed with every order. It should be placed on the menu as one of the many additional toppings. If you have no customer service abilities in English that must breed some inner angst... sorry, I still speak English and have yet to convert. BURGER=LOST IN TRANSLATION...

Good selection of meats and beers. Fries were quite good. Cubano wasn't bad, but the bread and pork wern't quite right for the style. Still better than many I've had though.

Definitely a place for beer lovers despite we didn't ordered that much of food the service was great and the ambiance was really nice, what they did with the lighting setup and music makes you want to stay.

I loved it

Thad Williams

Amazing sandwiches. Sometimes service can be a bit off, but it is worth it. The charcuterie is a must for any party!

Swan Li

Overpriced Italian sandwich served on stale bread. Greasy Nate's fries. Meatball tasted like a wet sock. Is that how gourmet is supposed to taste like?

Might be the worst sandwich ever ! Meat was undercooked, a hot sandwich that came to the table cold ! Would never eat there again !!! Save your money, go to Arby's

My boyfriend tried this place out and for some reason he really couldn't stop begging me to come here with him. I ordered the bacon burger well done and he had some super huge man burger which I thought looked delicious. I took a bite off my burger only to find out that the bacon wasn't as I ordered, but was rare and juicy. I almost puked and I had to save half the burger for my boyfriend to eat at home. It broke my heart that he was so disappointed. I wanted to like this place but I just hate eating bloody juicy meat and they kind of screwed it up for me. I did however like that other than allowing you to order all sorts of meat for your own recipes, along with done up burgers and meals while you wait for them to prepare your take home slabs of steak.

Red Apron has my favorite meatball sandwich. It's like crack in a roll. I've been going here since shortly after it's opened and a few months in they started offering soft serve as well with flavors constantly changing. When they have it you definitely have to try the fruity pebbles cereal milk flavor (ask for extra fruity pebbles). Their burger is delicious as well and of course the beef fat rosemary, garlic fries. SO GOOD.

Some of the best burgers I've ever had. Note: the one in Union Market is nowhere near as good.

Gabe Gindele

Great place if you are here for sandwiches or niche market ethnic sausages or bacon. Not a full service butcher, in case you are after ingredients for your romantic dinner.

My good friend had shown me Red Apron and their burgers are amazing. Chill atmosphere and blues music equal a five star by me.

The grilled cheese is heaven! And so is the service.

Delicious food, amazing service, best butcher in town!

It's a cool place. Okay food. Over priced. Very poor service. Poor kitchen hygiene. I had a few questions about the menu and the cashier had zero patience for a new customer. We viewed the chef in the kitchen lick his fingers and continue making our food. Also no gloves in use while making sandwiches (I'm guessing to add flavor). I'm giving this two stars instead of one because I didn't die at least.

John Finnerty

Good food, a bit pricey, but it's in a pretentious area, so go figure. Had to tell them about they bar stools almost falling apart- I'll be back in a month to see how they did. If you do go- get the fries.

We have been there a couple times since we moved from oldtown Alexandria to Fairfax because we really liked Cheesetique and we wanted to find a butchery closer to us so we don't have to drive all the way back to oldtown. But the customer service at Red Apron is just horrible. They are so slow there! Yesterday, I was there again asking for 7 sausages of different kinds (I did not ask for a bratwurst sausage). When I looked at the receipt I got, I noticed he charged me for 2 bratwurst sausages which were over $7 (why are they so expensive??!!?). And when I got home, I realized he only packed 5 sausages instead of 7!! I am not going there again until they have hired someone who is actually capable. Also, I don't like their meat selection there that much either. It's very pricey but not as good as Cheesetique. I'm willing to pay more if the meat and service are really good but Red Apron disappoints every time.

I have been twice for lunch. My first visit I had the pork-stramil sandwich which was excellent. The amount of meat is a little light, but the flavor is excellent and the bread is perfect. My second visit I had the burger, which was about the right size. The flavor was excellent and the bun was just right. My only issue is the meat had several pieces of bone/grissel in it which was surprising since the meat is ground there and I'd hope they'd have a bit more control over this. Other than that, it was a great burger.

Sorry yogurt

Loved the hamburgers and their rosemary garlic fries. Nice selection of wine and beers to go along with your food. Highly recommended if you enjoy craft burgers. Which is a thing now.

Katie Ladrido

Amazing selection of meats. Their sausages, cheeses, and condiments are all great; you can't go wrong. On the culinary side, the wild boar pate is excellent on a flax and millet cracker. Yes, they are on the pricey side but the quality of meats are incomparable. Nothing like a great cut of grass-fed, fresh, organic strip steak from a reliable, clean, well-staffed butcher shop.

Taylor Mantzke

Overpriced like crazy, but I sometimes fantasize about the beef and blue.

I've been shopping here for years but it's my favorite local butcher. Their prices for their quality of meats is fantastic! Their standard is grass fed beef and dry-aged! Their deli meats are out of this world, and homemade!

I don't understand the 3.8 star review, honestly for how the cheap the prices are and how good the food is, I would come here everyday if it wasn't for the distance. Their classic red apron burger is only $10.50 and was perfectly cooked. Would recommend.

Always wanted to try this place and today I got the chance. I came here without much expectations as I was pretty hungry for food. I got the porkstrami sandwich and my god it was the best sandwich I've had (Yes, even tops the sandwich from Cenote)! Everything from the bread to the meat was made fresh, so you know you're in for a treat. The bread itself was soft and just the right crisp on the outside. The porkstrami? It's like when you take a bite of something that came right out of the kitchen, the subtle aroma, the tender texture of the meat gave the sandwich a rich flavor. I give this sandwich a power level 9999.9. COUGH! P.s. They also house a large unique set of beers for you folks. Definitely coming back for more.

Rule the roost at this Mosaic staple.

EDIT: For those complaining about price and comparing it to places like subway, Safeway, and other cheap places...pretty sure you should be eating at those places instead since you don't care to pay for quality meats and ingredients

If you like to eat overpriced average food (which can make you sick), provided by non-smiling unfriendly employees, this is your place... A burger and a soft drink cost me $13.45 and it was the worst burger, while it was undercooked, despite I have asked nicely (please cook thoroughly). You like bad experiences, then go visit them...

I ordered a burger and fries and it came to $13.78. The Burger was $10.00 The patty was 1/4" thick which is the size of a single patty at Wendy's. The flavor was good but not worth $10.00. I will not pay y h as t much for a small burger again.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I usually like to do positive reviews that help businesses that deserve it but this place is a ripoff. I have been here twice as I get my haircut next door and both times I was seriously underwhelmed. I paid for a $12+ Turkey sandwich and what I got was the equivalent of a $4 premade sandwich from Safeway. I don't mind spending a lot for a sandwich if it's worth it. Sandwich was extremely dry and tasteless- if you are going to have a sandwich where you use super thick Italian sub roll then use fresh bread because mine was stale. I literally could not identify the artichoke spread that was on there. 80% stale bread, 10% turkey, and 10% arugula. Red Apron owner - order the turkey sandwich under cover after you read this and then tell me if you would 1 - actually enjoy it and 2 - think it's worth $12+. [end disgruntled review]

Aline Sutton

Sandwiches to order, great beer selection.

Justin Dunn

Best burgers and fries in NoVA, no one else even comes close.

Christen McCluney

Butcher and charcuterie that also serves up some sandwiches and sells other gourmet goodies as well. The menu at this location is a bit different from the one in union market. I tried the fries which were pretty good they were fried in beef fat and seasoned with a garlic rosemary salt. The muffaletta was also pretty good as well.

Adam Robinson

My go-to burgerjoint these days... I was a diehard Ray's Hellburger eater until I had the original burger here at Red Apron. Combine one of the best burgers in the area with beef fat french fries and a great selection of beer? What more does someone need to come here and eat their food?! This is also a butcher location, but none of the butchery is done on-premise... its all done in DC and shipped here so you can't really get custom cuts that aren't already in the case. That isn't to say the choices lack, they just might not have what you want that day.

Angie Ham

Great sandwiches and drinks. Staff was friendly :)

Nick Venturella

Dear reader, you've just found the best French fries in the DC area. Also try the meatball sandwich, topped with sharp cheese and bitter salsa verde.
