Excellent butcher / sandwich shop in Union market! Had the pastrami & swiss sando which was spot on but not MY deli style if that's what you are thinking. My wife had the turkey & cheese which was packed with fresh turkey.

Local meat...I can really taste the difference! The butcher ground my beef hamburger fresh from a piece of hormone-free, grass-fed sirloin. My bbq-master neighbor recommended them as a the best value in DC. They won me over. I stop by monthly from Adams Morgan to load up my fridge/freezer.

Well hidden and a great place for a quick outing in the city. Food here is tasty with a nice variety of options. There's an option here for a quick frozen cocktail lol but that's optional. Really nice I hope it stays that way.

This place has good quality, diversity of cuts, and their stuff is knowledgeable. They also have a mailing list with recipes and the deals of the week. I'm trying a new cut and recipe tomorrow thanks to this place. And it was affordable.

Harvey's Market is one of DC's oldest butchers nestled in the back of Union Market in NE DC. It's open when the market opens and offers any meat you can imagine from prime rib to pig ears. The meat you buy here will be a little more expensive than at the grocery store, but it's also better quality, more tasty, and you can enjoy Union Market.

Read carefully... Harvey's is the best quality, cleanest, honest, fairest priced butcher in D.C. I have serious health concerns and have to eat minimally processed meats. My grocery budget is off the charts since I mainly shop at the organic food markets that, quite frankly, are mostly a farce if you don't know how to read the source labels et al. Anyway, Harvey's has managed to earn a patron that appreciates a return to what my parents and grandparents had back in the 20s and 40s.
