This Butcher Shop is classified in the category of Butcher shop.
We are very lucky to have such an amazing specialty butcher shop in Louisville. They only have the best of the best! If you are looking to make a charcuterie board, with local meat and cheeses, this is your place!!
old fashioned style with outstanding products. the staff is so friendly and helpful and will take as long as you want to explain their products. The bologna isn't like the stuff you might have had as a kid, it's very tasty. The pate's are excellent. I also love the fact that they have Capriole cheese there - it is the very best!
I am currently in search of a good Cuban sandwich, I think I may have found the best one in the area.
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere!
Charcuterie board was exceptional! I didn't take a photo, but we also had the girls cheese with bacon, Cuban, and spicy margarita. All were great. The margarita was VERY spicy and great!
There is no better place to buy meat than Red Hog. The service is top notch and you can always have confidence that the meat is of the highest quality. Buy local! Buy happy! At Red Hog you are supporting local business, local farmers and local progress.
Delicious food and weekly changes to the menu makes this place a favorite of mine. My friends and I order most of the menu every time we go, and we are looking forward to tasting the new items on this week's menu. Keep it up!
When I talk about how good "Red Hog" is, I say that it must be competitive globally. KY farm to table at it's best! Sure, it can feel a little pricey at times, but the quality more than makes up for it. Lunch and snack items in the butcher shop usually run from $6 to $10. If you can catch the chicken sandwich special, it's a must try. Obviously, all the pork items. Beef is also locally sourced. The restaurant can feel quirky at first, but once you get the hang of their "flow" and get to know the staff it's quite welcoming. The menu changes weekly, and they seem to be getting better every time!
Drove over 40 minutes and didnt have enuf kielbasa i even called yesterday wasnt real happy w small selection of meats
Butcher shop selection great but restaurant was extremely disappointing. After sampling the meats at the shop I was very excited to check out the small restaurant attached to this place. You would expect a butcher shop restaurant to have a sizeable selection of meat dishes, right? After all, the meats they have in the shop are delicious. Unfortunately, your "meat plate" consists of two small sections of pate and another meat paste with some tiny portions of mustard and pickels for 12 bucks. The Whole Hog BBQ sandwich needed more of the pork along with sauce. The tatertot poutine had same smaller piece of same pate as the plate. The pizza was good but vegetarian. To top it off, we paid 5 bucks for fries that are advertised with house made curry aioli (same as what's on the pizza we got) but they brought out a bowl of fries and then told us they were out of the aioli. Kind of frustrating when you can see all the meat next door just sitting there. Hopefully, they are still working out the kinks as this place is new. I will update the review when I try again.
Fantastic food and great service. Relaxed atmosphere
Cute place, very nice staff. Interesting menu, we had the sirloin and a shrimp avacado salad (both too salty for my taste). Good beer selection, altho a little pricey. We sat outside at family style tables. Nice night. $49+ tip for 2 entrees and 2 beers.
Great quick sandwiches @ lunch in combinations you wouldn't think of yourself. Scrumptious!
Try the in-house ham.
Wonderful meal! Looking forward to our next visit.
Fantastic place, best burger ever!
Very friendly and helpful. Meat and cheese I bought was so good!
Ordered the stew on this cold day and it was really good, described on the menu board as "cannelloni bean cassoulet W/herb sausage, duck confit, and grilled, marinated pork shoulder" . Was delicious especially the pork shoulder which had that flavor that only comes from the magic of a wood fired grill.

High quality food. However, I had the special lamb sandwich which was pretty dry like hard string meat. Prices are a bit higher here. I think the burger was 17 dollars. However, my wife’s burger was great. The problem we have here is it has that uppity I’m better than you feel. It takes forever to get water and you never feel like they want you there. If they changed their service we would be here more often.

Great venue. I had the Slightly Overcast & it's a phenomenal cocktail!
So far so good! I like the burchershop feel and the local meat/ cheese selections. Prices are very reasonable and it is nice knowing you are supporting local farms. Note the restaurant section is open at 4pm, while the burchershop is open earlier. You can get sandwiches and snacks at the butchershop, the rest of the menu is available for dinner. Service was great, the folks were very friendly. I got the ground beef and spicy italian sausage. The BBQ pulled pork tacos were yummy. Looking forward to trying the restaurant for dinner.
Love this local butcher shop. There is always a great selection of red meat and poultry. The staff is friendly - always able to make helpful suggestions. They also have daily lunch (soup and sandwich) specials, which are delicious and lead to me trying things I never would otherwise!
Good food and nice neighborly place.
Good food fun atmosphere
Really like this butcher shop, I am a big fan of Cuban sandwich :))
The food was good. The butchers were a bit pretentious. I tried to ask questions about their products and was treated as if I was bothering them and wasting their time.
The burger was outstanding, as was the Vodka Tonic with house made tonic! Even more impressive was the welcoming atmosphere. Erin, behind the bar is a wonderful person to chat with while you enjoy a cocktail, and she mixes a fantastic drink!
Awesome local bar/restaurant with a very good menu , beer selection and cocktails. Make sure you get here early for seating , then plan to be here a while. Bring family and friends, leave kids at home. Explore the cocktails
Great food!
Great charcuterie boards!
Make sure you get to this "too hip" place early, they have no problem arbitrarily closing the kitchen 2 hours early because they're too busy. Never experienced that before.
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville
Always incredible
Incredible establishment! From soup (bones) to nuts.
Everything about this place is fantastic, the food (especially the meat), the atmosphere, and the drinks.
Food was wonderful, staff was friendly, the restaurant was amazing. Prices are a little proud but I'm also not from Louisville so I'm guessing they're competitive. 16 bucks for a burger and fries. The Butcher side is great on its own. Beautiful cuts to choose from. Bone in dry aged ribeye at 27$ per lb, beautiful meat, I'm also assuming competitive prices. Pork, whole chickens, bacon, and ham. All delicious looking and ready to go home with you. Great experience overall. I will be going back next time I'm in Louisville. Also, there's a huge patio area and the dining room opens up to make the place an open air environment.
Great food and enjoyable experience!
We liked Red Hog up until our last experience. We planned on getting spare keys made at the hardware shop next door, and pick up some sandwiches from them after a long day of doing house renovations. We parked in the lot, walked down to get keys made (gone maybe 5 mins) and came back to a note on our windshield saying my friend and I were not sexy enough to park in their lot. Needless to say, we decided not to get food from them. We were the only car in their lot. Maybe their lot was empty because of how they treat their customers. We wont be back.
Fantastic environment, great food. The pizza is pretty standard, so I'd recommend getting something else. Burger was fantastic and the cuban was also on point. Cocktail, beer and wine selection is great. They run a bit differently than other places... when you first order you'll open a tab and you keep the number on your table until you pay your tab.
Seemed a little over priced. Small lunch menu. Service was excellent. It was good and I'll give it a try for dinner.
We love trying out new places, but this place was not good. Their menu was confusing and wrong. I had to reorder my sandwich and they made me the wrong cocktail. I don't imagine we will go back.
Excellent food. The staff was great.
One of the best places to eat in Louisville. Hands down.

Always the best!
Wonderful butcher with unique cuts as well as a great restaurant!
Wish I could give this place zero stars for rudeness and terrible service. Went in yesterday with wife and two small kids and they didn't even looked at us until we approached a bartender asking for a high chair. He then brushed us off saying they didn't have one and walked away (place was almost empty, so they were rude for nothing, not like they were in a hurry). Glad we left. With that attitude in a city like Louisville that has great restaurant options, they won't last long.
It was a great experience, the food was really tasty, we ordered two different dishes, the first was mussels with french fries and amazing coconut and curry sauce, the other dish was hamburger and french fries the taste was good but a bit small. It is a good place to have a good time
Outstanding and creative savory food!
I don't know how I haven't come in here sooner! Awesome ambiance, clean aesthetics, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and delicious food. Erin helped me choose my food and had nothing but the best suggestions and advice. The patio was perfect for lunch. I appreciated despite being "fast casual" that they were observant enough to grab us water when ours was low and clear plates off our table that were no longer in use, as well as bring us silverware setups and napkins before our food came out. I am so stoked you all are open at 4pm too as I have a small window of time that I eat! Thanks REDHOG you are crushing it!
Pulled lamb bbq sandwich and Cuban sandwich are delicious! The staff very kind and knowledgeable. I definitely see a return visit in my future.
Delicious sandwiches, pizzas, and appetizers. Known for their meats cooked over a wood-fire, Red Hog has a great beer selection and a great atmosphere. One of my favorites in Louisville.
Great food, friendly service
I have never had a bad meal here. Try the Greyhound, it's fantastic.
Just exited a private Christmas party at their location. Amazing eats...smoke meats, cheeses, fresh salad, BBQ sliders, artisan pizza, smoked sausages, salmon on potato cakes and in-house ginger-ale. (Ginger-ale is a thing for me and they nailed it) Everything was really that good. This was my first visit and obviously not the full everyday menu fare experience, but the pulled it off in the most critical way...Great Flavor across the board!
Amazing charcuterie items. Our go to spot every time we are in Louisville.
Server seemed bother when they made our order wrong. Actually tried to convince us it would be ok and we should just eat it. Crouded eatery, and poor service is why I gave one star.

I have attempted to eat dinner here three times. Yet to actually get a chance to order anything. No one there to greet you at the door to explain their utterly disorganized layout. No entry space, oversized tables block way to the ordering counter, which doesn't look like where you would go to order. Bartender ignored me for about ten minutes. Service is rude; servers just give you dirty looks, the kitchen has always been closed whenever I come by. Operating hours are the most confusing I've ever experienced, like memorizing an entire week's itinerary. I love patronizing local businesses, but this place needs to give me a reason to try to comeback. I'm sure the food is delicious, I just wish I could actually try it. Also, restaurants in general should close when the kitchen closes. Stop trying to be a bar after hours.
Excellent service and atmosphere
Very good food
This is one special place if you are a meat lover. My wife and I split a shrimp salad with avocado and capers which was delicious. She had the burger and said it was one of the best ever. I had the pork shank confit with all the trimmings which may be the best dish in the city for the price. All in all a wonderful experience. The dining room is loud so you need to prepare yourself for that and you do set at shared tables. The service is excellent and the people are very kind. If you haven't been here then don't miss it.
Red Hog definitely has a modern butcher shop atmosphere when you first arrive, building anticipation for your inner carnivore. Decent beer selection that extends upon your normal bar collection. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. Red Hog has a limited menu, but they execute well on what they do have. Staff was friendly and helpful during our time there. Only gripe I have is with prices. Slightly higher than what I would expect to pay for the size of the beer glasses and quantity of food. This is not something that would prevent a future visit though!
Best Cuban ever
Great food! Can be busy in their small space
Great selection and quality in the butcher shop
Without a doubt one of the best Cuban sandwitches I have ever had. Well done!
My husband and I have been so excited about this place opening and our hopes were not in vain! We tried their bacon and it was easily some of the best our palettes have ever encountered! So excited for our next visit!
Great food. Relaxed environment. Superb beer selection.
Great people and service food was very good. Only whine was it got a bit tight at lunch time with the place filling up within minutes of arriving
Outstanding. Pastrami sandwich is delicious.
Good food but overpriced.
It really was the best d$@n Cuban sandwich 4+
I am giving Red Hog a 3/5 for a few reasons: 1. The space is slightly confusing-we walked into the Butcher shop but we wanted to go to the restaurant part of Red Hog. 2. The food was slightly expensive for the portion size. $25 for the beef kabob, a rotisserie chicken sandwich and some fries. Not a ton of food. 3. There isn't a ton of space for people to sit. The outside section was missing a few benches that would have allowed people to spread out a bit.
Small and crowded but worth it.
Most creative bar in Louisville. Expertly crafted cocktails. Excellent food. Amazing pizza.
Lunch menu is a joke, honestly. Your choice between 2 sandwiches or a grilled cheese are you options.. with $7 order of fries side choices. No apps, no burgers, nothing...
Worst Cuba sandwich ever! Pork was dry cheese was not melted sandwich was cold! Also you DO NOT PUT MAYO on a CUBAN! Also way over priced.
Great food well prepared
