A coworker took me here, and the food was phenomenal. The steak (I had the lunch filet) was perfectly seasoned, the mac and cheese was creamy, and the corn nuggets had just a hint of sweetness. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious and the servers were very friendly. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Ordered medium rare steaks got two rare stone cold lumps of meat instead. When we brought it to the waitresses attention we were met with attitude and just plain disrespect. We told her it was fine and would try to eat it anyway just making them aware of the foods condition. She left and went and got a manager because "it wasn't her fault!" So I explained to her that we in no way said it was and that she could keep her smart mouthed comments to herself. After paying and went to walk out she still insisted on making comments with an attitude. So I had to tell her a thing or two with my 80 year old grandfather in tow. Never coming back to this place ever again. Which is sad because of all the memories I have here with my dad and grandpa since I was 15

Yumm! How have I lived in columbus for 10 years without ever hearing about Burt's? It's a crying shame, because this is THE place to go for a steak. It's not fancy. It's a hole-in-the-wall type place that only locals eat at, but locals know where to find the best food. The Schnitzel and chicken fried steak are huge and tasty. You can pick your own steak from the butcher shop attached to the restaurant and have it cooked the way you like it. If you've never been here, find a local and ask them why they've never shared the secret of Burt's!

********* THE BEST STEAK in Columbus ********** Ok this is the best steak I have ever eaten. I have been all over the country and work all over the world as an engineer. The building does not look like much from the outside and in the inside it looks like it is from the 50 's or 60's. But the food is amazing and the people are about as friendly as it comes. But if you are looking for a place that is all pretty outside then this is not for you but if hungry this is the place to eat their 20oz Porterhouse is only 19$ and it is huge.

For was pretty good, everything is basically a la carte, with decent prices. Got a bacon cheeseburger, fries, pulled pork sandwich, Mac and cheese, hot dog and 2 drinks for about $23. The only reason for the 3 stars is due to the staff. Not the we were treated badly but just didn't get the service we were expecting. No refills no "how is everything/do you need anything?"

Was staying across the street at the La Quinta and was walking my dog early in the morning. As I came by on the way back, I smelled the smoker. When I got back in the evening I ordered a to-go steak that was cooked just right. It was delicious with the marinade and perfectly complimented sides. Yummy!!

Picked up a Filet and two Ribeye's from Burt's. They cut them to size, and asked if I wanted it marionated. I said yes. I grilled them when I got home, I must say it was the best steak I've had in my life. Better than at a restaurant. The flavor was perfect. I like my steaks well done, so generally the meat tends to be tougher, but when I cooked their steak well done it was perfect and tender. I will definitely be coming back for more steaks.

This is more to the butcher shop side. Ordered the beef, and the pork freezer special before with no problem. Ordered the beef freezer special this time about 3pm and told it would be ready about 530pm. Got there and it wasn't ready, no problem. Around 630 ir was ready, even tipped the butcher. Next evening, opened hamburger pack and it looked like a beef twinkie. Fresh beef on outside, brown on inside. Will not buy from there again. I guess I was the sucker. You lost a steady customer.

The best thing about this steakhouse was the friendly waitress. The unsweetened iced tea was pretty good. We both ordered steaks - he ordered a t-bone, mine was a ribeye. They were cooked to order, so no complaints there but they were lukewarm when they arrived to our table. My side of mac and cheese was barely lukewarm and bland. The side salad was nothing special. We will not be back to this place.

Usually we get our steaks cut and take them home and cook them, but this time we sat down and had someone else cook for us. My wife my father in law and his best friend. We all had the special, they did a great job with all we ordered. So, don't judge a place by what it looks like, man up, sit down and eat, then you judge. Don't always believe what you hear. If the norm for this establishment was what I experienced today, I have no idea how they maintain a 4.7 star rating. To preface, I have been wanting to eat here for a while after hearing rave reviews from my husband and friends. I was anticipating a wonderful meal based off my prior experiences eating at butcher shop restraunts because they typically offer better quality cuts of meat. My husband and I came in to have a Valentine's Day lunch. We ordered a fried pickle appetizer, which was decent. Nothing spectacular, I probably wouldn't order it again. He ordered the NY Strip special with mashed potatoes and rice and gravy, and I ordered the ribeye lunch (rare, rare, rare!) with rice and gravy after establishing the potatoes were instant instead of homemade. Our dishes finally arrived after a prolonged but not intolerable wait. The first thing I noticed was my steak was swimming in a dark brown juice, which turned out to be Dale's, a marinade that I absolutely ABHOR. In my experience, a good cut of meat is lightly seasoned, so as to not overpower the taste of a quality cut of meat. There was no indicating how the steak was cooked based off sight but feel and texture told me is was overcooked, as was the rice. It was mush. I sent the steak back and asked for a rare, rare, rare steak sans marinade and green beans instead of rice. The steak came back again covered in marinade, and by the look of it, I could have purchased a better quality ribeye from Publix. The look of my 2nd ribeye was reminiscent of the regretful 2AM decisions I've made (after drinking entirely too much) to order a Waffle House or IHOP steak. Our waitress informed me that she was going to have them put my steak back on the grill to "cook off the marinade flavor"...I politely declined and she told me they'd give the 2nd steak to another table and start a totally new one sans marinade. I had heard enough and declined any new food completely, having lost my appetite. I was at least going to purchase some meat from the butcher side of the establishment, but after the second steak I was done altogether. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience here and don't plan on returning any time soon.

My GF & I went to Burt's as part of a group of 7 after one of our dinner party had just graduated from the local peace officer academy (police school) based on the Columbus State University campus. We were seated promptly which was amazing since a party of 12 walked in no less than 2 minutes ahead of our group. The server(s) that attended to our group was/were very efficient & attentive. We had our drinks in what seemed like seconds after we were seated. They promptly took our orders & explained items on the menu which many of us had questions about since no one in our group had ever dined at Burt's. The steaks that my GF & I had were amazing, amazing, amazing!!! We also had the corn nuggets we had were also delicious. I had the Mac & Cheese which was very good too!!! I will add one last item to my review, don't let how this building looks on the outside, or even what you think about the decor inside once your are seated, affect your thoughts about how good the food at Burt's is......because you will be in for a huge surprise!!!! All 7 members of our group ordered a different item from the menu & all of us were very, very pleased with our meals!!! And, again, the servers are great, and the service just amazing!!!! My GF & I will return!!! (NOTE: We used to live about 75 miles from Columbus, but now we live in Florida, but we return to Georgia frequently to visit friends & so we will return to Burt's.......)

We had to leave because we had to go back to work, the restaurant was almost empty which doesn’t make since why it took so long. I purchased a whole ribeye today, almost 20 pounds, and I asked for it to be cut into inch and a half thick steaks. I got 16 steaks that were 1" thick. I'm not happy about that since I spent almost $200. I didn't get what I asked for.

I have never had a bad steak at Burts! It absolutely is the best priced, best steak in Columbus! The 14 oz Ribeye was an exceptional bargain and literally I was able to cut it with a butter knife!
