The staff has done a marvellous job maintaining the shop. The prices weren't bad at all. The meat was definitely cheaper than the grocery store I frequent, and they offer a wider variety of meat. The ribs looked really nice and fresh when I was there. Definitely recommended for grocery shoppers and those who love meat, or those planning to host a bbq/outdoor party.

Leisurely Machinations

When you bring an animal to them from your farm for slaughtering, they will short you on the meat you get back. They pre-packed the meat into "quarters" of the animal, and it ended up being half of what it should have been once we got it home and weighed it. Have a discussion up front about how much you should be getting back, what happens if you don't (like not being charged for butchering a whole animal if they are going to keep so much of your meat, and bring your scale when you pick up.

As someone else noted, the quality of late as definitely decreased. The older woman that runs the counter always treats me as if I'm wasting her time, even when making a $150 order. I recently bought a $400/50 lb freezer combo only to find 6 months later that 6.5 lbs worth of steaks and roasts weren't vacuum sealed properly. Very disappointed as I truly like the shop and their product.

They have sauces and rubs ..$$..which i still get sometimes , because they taste great . then realizing then if your buying $12.00 Sauces hmm might as well make your own. Great Selection . We make a monthly trip for the Best fresh cut meats, poultry, pork, deli meats. What a large variety of fresh cut steaks that melt in your mouth. Make sure you purchase the very reasonable sample package of meats that includes ground beef, steaks, sausage, bacon and home made scrapple. The frozen variety of meats, poultry, pork, seafood and bulk vegetables are also available. Bring your thermal bag, ice available to purchase. Believe they are closed on Sunday & Mondays. Next stop in Dover, right down the road, is BYLERS. Plan a few hours here for shopping, a real Amish country store with everything. Note..My husband enjoys this trip also, has the famous home made ice cream cone and relaxes in seating outside while I shop. This is a wonderful day trip to Dover with a early breakfast or lunch stop..Enjoy!

they beef in the case may be great, but the steer we had butchered had a tainted taste like freezer burn..... it's very hard to trust the butcher after you spend that kind of time and money raising a steer and not be able to enjoy it.... any of it... and this was after using multiple different cuts to include the ground beef....very disappointing.

We make a monthly trip for the Best fresh cut meats, poultry, pork, deli meats. What a large variety of fresh cut steaks that melt in your mouth. Make sure you purchase the very reasonable sample package of meats that includes ground beef, steaks, sausage, bacon and home made scrapple. The frozen variety of meats, poultry, pork, seafood and bulk vegetables are also available. Bring your thermal bag, ice available to purchase. Believe they are closed on Sunday & Mondays. Next stop in Dover, right down the road, is BYLERS. Plan a few hours here for shopping, a real Amish country store with everything. Note..My husband enjoys this trip also, has the famous home made ice cream cone and relaxes in seating outside while I shop. This is a wonderful day trip to Dover with a early breakfast or lunch stop..Enjoy!

they beef in the case may be great, but the steer we had butchered had a tainted taste like freezer burn..... it's very hard to trust the butcher after you spend that kind of time and money raising a steer and not be able to enjoy it.... any of it... and this was after using multiple different cuts to include the ground beef....very disappointing.

Great family owned butcher shop! The customer service is friendly accommodating, knowledgeable, down to earth and professional. They are also happy to offer advice and answer any questions in a way that it's easy to understand especially if you're not familiar with certain offerings or specialties out of butcher shop.
