Country Butcher is my go-to for nearly all my meats and special goodies...yes, it is pricier that others, but locally owned, local people work there, and everyone is helpful. Reminds me of my childhood butcher, but with better cheeses!

The Country Butcher is absolutely amazing. I'll never buy store packaged bacon again. Shisk kabobs are to die for - chicken or steak. Be prepared to wait in line if you're buying meat for a holiday - it's worth it.

I thought my butcher in NY was great....no more! The Country Butcher now has my heart not just over the choice cuts of meat. That Kennett Square burger is the tastiest ever. They have excellent deli items too. If I needed to choose my last meal, would be their quinoa salad (just enough zip to be hip!), Morrocan chicken salad (moist shredded chicken with pistachios and sultana raisins for a sweet foil to the curry seasoning)and roasted Brussels sprouts (charred to perfection) all served with the heavenly earthy whole grain bread from their bakery. OUTSTANDING!

Excellent selection of specialty foods, meats and cheeses. An unexpected find in this area with an excellent selection of sandwhiches and salads on their cafe menu. Most of the beef is USDA Prime which can be tough to find and the price is right on the money. Nice staff and very helpful.

The Country Butcher prepared food for my son's wedding and EVERYONE raved about how delicious the meal was. The tomato basil salad and roasted veggies were FRESH, the fish and chicken were expertly prepared and the mac and cheese was universally LOVED. We have shopped for gourmet foods and meats here for almost 20 years and now 150 of our friends and relatives were able to enjoy the same delicious food. Dan and Dorothy, Omar and Tom, Connor and all of the folks at Country Butcher provide gourmet food with a hometown attitude.

The "gourmet" items on the shelves are also overpriced...an example $10.95 for a regular jar of dill pickles that had to be some of the worst pickles i have ever eaten. The meat selections are fine but, again, overpriced. I've heard friends and acquaintances rave about this place for years and figured I'd give it a try. I spent $150 spread out over the various sections of the store and the results were the same acrossed the board...average products for exorbitant prices.

First I must mention their wonderful selection of locally made cheeses from the Farm at Doe Run. We especially love St Malachi. Plenty of fresh meats and deli options, plus pasta and sauces and olives and mustard and cookies ... They have a nice little dining area in the back for breakfast and lunch, plus a selection of bakery items to go. It is a great place to get little gourmet items and kitchen gadgets. There are steps in the front but easier access on the side doors. A great place to go to get something special or just some soup and a sandwich.
