First, let me say that my husband was born and raised in Italy and I visit Italy annually. As you would expect from the name, this market has the best selection of foodstuffs imported from Italy in the area, from cured and cooked meats (prosciutto, soppressata, pancetta, etc.), to cheeses (parmigiano, pecorino, fontina, gorgonzola, provolone, mozzarella, etc.), to bottled and canned goods. We always stock up on Cento Passata as our go-to tomato sauce for pizza, ragu, etc. The fresh-baked bread is my favorite in the area.
The butcher is very accommodating and knowledgeable, and the raw meat products he offers are good quality and won't spoil immediately like the meats from some other butcher shops in the area. Recently, I bought some delicious Wagyu steaks there.
Now for the criticism: I buy the prosciutto on a regular basis, and it isn't treated as carefully as it should be. It is often sliced too thick (it should be paper thin) and the slices are piled on top of one another so they stick together (each layer should be separated by plastic). One staff member also looked at me funny when I explained that I didn't want the cuts close to the bone because they are too sweet (in Italy some delis ask if you want the salty or sweet part of the prosciutto). Another issue is that sometimes the fresh produce hasn't been so fresh (I bought a slimy shallot once). Then again, I think the store could do without produce entirely.
That said, I will continue to come here regularly to stock up on Italian staples.
