Amazing.

On the way to Point Reyes Park, this is a great stop for a meaty lunch. Had the NY strip steak with fries (done in lard, for the win!) which was very tasty. Ordered medium rare--came out more medium, and a bit chewy--but the flavors made up for the prep. Resting on a bed of mixed greens and fries, both of which soaked up steak juices. The Mrs. had a Goat Burger (Laura Chenel chevre, mushrooms, caramelized onions) which was supremely tasty--the bun was a bit crumbly would be her only complaint. Finished with water buffalo-milk hazelnut gelato, which was so rich and creamy.

This is a must stop. Great burgers for lunch and take some meat home from the butcher counter.

Hopson Review

The level of quality at Marin Sun's home base is outstanding – all pastured meats almost exclusively from their own farm, unbelievably good tallow soap made from the fat of their own cattle, and wonderfully prepared meals and bites that elevate country and deli food through their exceptional ingredients and subtle creativity. The dining menu is homestyle, but despite being heartily filling is very clean and light. You'll be hard-pressed to find onion rings fried in pastured pork lard elsewhere, and what a delight they are! Who would have dreamed that onion rings could feel so weightless? The Brussel sprouts were cooked, seasoned, and dressed to perfection, a feat in itself. Pastrami was like none we'd ever had. Interesting takes on ketchup, aioli, and mustard – all made fresh in-house and certainly not of a standard style, but not too far out there either. Our only complaint really is with the service, which is just shy of terrible we hate to say. No one is straight-up rude, but they're lazy, generally unapologetic, and far from attentive. A telling example is the contrast between the menu's notice stating that water is served only upon request, and then the presence on every diner's table of an unsolicited glass of ice water despite the weather outside barely breaking freezing. Select menu items are also unavailable at indeterminate and varying times throughout the day, not due to shortage(s), but rather to poor planning and time management.

My wife and I spent $47 with a tip. The food wasn't that outstanding. Certain elements of our food were lacking flavor. Certain food items on the menu were not being served. The sandwich I ordered (BLB?) had quite firm bread smothered in butter. My wife's pastrami sandwich was all what looked to be bacon? We were not very impressed. Maybe we're just spoiled city folk.

A local sustainable butcher that serves burgers sounds delicious, but isn't. You would never guess from the bland, unpleasantly textured ground beef and freezer-quality fries that you were paying TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS FOR A BURGER AND FRIES. We were then pressured to pay in cash because, the owner explained, he needed to pay his workers. Again, this is an establishment that charges you $24 for a burger and fries.

The aged beef burger was fantastic, and the side salad was great as well. Amazing food.

Farm-to-table. I had a gruyere dry aged burger with a side salad and it was awesome. A bit pricey ($18), but it was quality tasty. Also, had fries with homemade ketchup, not bad. Service was slow b/c they were missing some staff. Butcher shop was pretty cool to check out.

This review is for their meat delivery service - specifically for the Poultry Package. Absolutely the toughest, worst tasting (if you can bite into it) chicken I have ever had. Do not sign up for any poultry package. We even had to have a garbage disposal repair person come because the disposal could not grind it up. Free range chicken? More like free range rhinoceros.

Great Service and BEST burger you will ever have!! Brussel Sprout and Pork Fat Fries are da bomb! It will not disappoint

I shop at this place for all my meaty needs whenever I am in the area. The quality and the service are just outstanding. The guys working here have a real passion for sustainable, local, grass-fed, fantastic meet, and you can feel that in each aspect of your experience with them. I miss seeing Paul, Adrian and Miles, it's always a pleasure to shop with such passionate people behind the counter. Looking forward to being back soon!

This place is pure. Which is exactly why you've never been here; the fact is, this is both a butcher shop AND a restaurant. Quality, local, meats as the base ingredient for a variety of dishes, but it's not all meat. Delicious appetizers, fresh and tasty salads and oh, did we mention the meat? If Anthony Bourdain had been curious about Marin, he could have done worse than land here. With cozy sheepskins on every chair and a super friendly waitstaff, what more could you want? Well, seconds on the mushroom and maple gelato for one!

I love this place, but must say, the service could be significantly improved. Almost always waiting for waiters, etc. Affects the experience.

This place was amazing. My husband had the Ribeye and I had their Brussel Sprouts appetizer and thier Beet salad. The steak and frites were soooo good. The sreak melted in your mouth like butter. The Brussel sprouts are fried in pork lard and topped with sour cream and parmesan cheese. Excellent. I have to mention that this place is pricey, but worth every penny. Definitely would come back when we're in the area. :)

Goat or lamb burger after a long hike in Point Reyes hits the spot!

Looking for a new place to celebrate a birthday dinner, Marin Sun Farms sealed the deal. Responsible farming practices, locally sourced, and quality you can taste in every mouth watering bite. We started with the Brussels sprouts. Do yourself a favor...don't leave these off your check. Holy heck, they were delicious! Our meals consisted of the lamb burger, beef burger, a grilled cheese, and a side of fries. All burgers come with salad, so we added the fries to share. One was plenty for three of us with the other items. The burgers were cooked to perfection. Juicy, full of flavor, and each delicious in their own way. I switched the cheese on my beef burger for blue, next time I'll try their recommendation, the blue was a little strong, perhaps stealing the show from the full flavor of the beef. Finished up with a shared cup on Candy Cap gelato. Subtle maple flavor, with a velvety texture, and a cup of French press coffee. Ooooh so good. Great service, amazing food.

Amazing, meat-forward burgers and all of their sides are mind-blowing. The onion rings fried in pork fat - even if you don't like onion rings, you should try those. And the Brussels sprouts! They also have a butchery where you can buy some meat for home. All fresh, delicious, and local.

Great food.

Very friendly and accommodating restaurant. I called ahead for a group of nine, and even though we arrived 20 minutes late, they held the table and seated us right away. We would have called ahead to notify them that we'd be late but there was limited cell service in the area. The food was a little pricey for burgers and sides, but the meats were fresh and definitely satisfying after a long hike.

First of all, it stinks and is filthy. We went in around 1:30 on a Saturday. There were three other tables in the place. After a ten minute wait, the server, for lack of a better word, came over , gave us menus, took a drink order. We ordered two sandwiches. He let us know it would be 20 minutes. We said fine. 40 minutes later he had still not brought out our two sandwiches. At that point, I said that we were going to go eat somewhere else if we could not have our food now. His response was and I quote "Whatever" Needless to say, no longer feeling welcome, we left. I have no idea if the food is good or not. most of the meat looked good in the case, some looked a little ripe. As we sat there, we realized just how filthy the place is. Good idea to keep it dark, even in the daytime. Seems from the other reviews, they use no help as an excuse for running a lousy place. Spend your money somewhere, where it is appreciated.

Great food, sustainable, helping local small farms. You definitely taste the difference. A must stop if you are sight seeing Reyes Point area.

A group of us stopped by for dinner yesterday after a day spent at Pt. Reyes, because of the glowing reviews. However, our dining experience were disappointing at best. First, we considered our server was either a racist or ignorant. His comments were along the lines of "you people from out of this country" that's why you don't know how the meat need to be cooked, well done, medium well, medium, etc. We looked at each other and let those comments go, as we're are not the type that see very everything is racist, but more along the lines of ignorance and do not want to make a scene. We're US citizens, live and work in this country for over forty years, and yet still get being called "you people". Secondly, one of our orders was french fries, the plate came out was all over-cooked crumbs, once again we're going to let that pass too. But we saw other tables were getting normal looking fries. So we called our server to let him know that we got crumbs, he got defensive and said what do you want to do, we told him the fries were unsatisfactory and want a replacement and he took the fries away. He gave us a replacement, which were not much better than the first one, but by this time, we pretty much finished eating, so we just let that go again. When I paid the bill at the counter, I gave 18% tips, not because of the "great" service, but more of feeling bad because he probably get paid minimum wages. Thirdly, after all of that, I looked at my receipt, it showed that I was charged for two fries instead of one. By this time, I chalked up as not worth my time to argue for a $6 refund and we just walked out. So, all I can say about this place, don't eat there unless you are one of "their people", check your bill before paying and the food is overrated.

Best fresh food I ever had

This is a butcher shop and restaurant. We had lunch there. The gruyère cheese burger with bacon was excellent as were the sausage and frites.

David Helgeson

Getting seated was a tad slow but they made up for it with having the food come out fast. It ended up being the best pickles, best beets, best brussels sprouts and best lamb I’ve had.

Rindy James

My family & I enjoyed a wonderful meal this evening. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious & the fries were the best ever. A lovely experience for all of us!

Alexander Hess

Absolutely the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Order it!!! Also wine and other selections of meat are the best. I give 4 stars because the home-made ketchup is really not good, way too sweet which lets down those excellent fries!

Toby Mason

Great meat beautifully presented. Knowledgeable and passionate butchery staff who clearly love meat and all things meat. Restaurant excellent. Burgers very good and cooked to perfection
