Finally, we made it to Dittmer's and I nearly went crazy as I wanted to have it all. We bought some ground lamb, which worked very well for our Middle Eastern meatball idea, with Greek Salad and Tzatziki and Pita bread. We also have some sausage, i.e. Thüringer, Nürnberger and Spicy Italian waiting for us. The cured meat we tried while waiting was to die for too, so once we have a full weekend at home or are entertaining that will be a definite buy. They also sell many different German specialties, like nutella, hanuta, spätzle, cornichons, sauerkraut, and many more household names, that we love to see and eat. See you soon!

This is an authentic German butchery selling freshly made sausages. They have the classic German ones but also created several nice variations. Their flavors are excellent and you can tell everything is really fresh. They also serves sandwiches as well as classics German goodies like chocolate and Swabian egg noodles. Everyone here is super friendly and if you ask they let you try things. Love this place and will certainly come back.

It's all great. They are the place I go for old school smoked ham. Salty and smokey instead of sweet. Also a great peppery pastrami. Lots of good sausages. Check out the hidden gems in the freezers like the Swedish potato sausage and the boerswurst. There is just way too much goodness in this place.

An extensive selection of European mustards, sauces, and spices in a spacious, friendly and low key atmosphere. It’s a particularly popular spots for students and sandwiches. Tip: try the smoked salmon, beef jerky, smoked duck leg, and head cheese.

Dittmer's is a gourmet butcher offering a wide selection of cuts and meats. The real stars at Dittmer's however are their sandwiches and house-made sausages. The sandwiches come loaded with your meat of a choice and number of fresh toppings. The corned beef is particularly excellent as is their pastrami. The sausages are equally wonderful, and are the absolute best thing to put on a grill; bring this to a party and you will be the star. The jalapeno cheddar in particular is a revelation in sausage deliciousness. Prices certainly reflect the gourmet nature of the place, but the cost is well worth the quality and flavor.

This is the best place to get authentic European (especially German) meats and sausages in the South SF Bay area. The Nuremberg bratwurst is awesome. The smoked franks are great too. The prices aren't competitive with your local supermarket, but definitely worth it when you're craving something special.

Classic German butcher shop with a wide variety of meats, sausages, and store made deli meats. Try their hot cocoa, it's amazing. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Some tips: --They usually have sausage samples out on the weekends. It's a great way to find new sausages to try! --Landjager is a great snack to try if you want the ultimate alternative to a Slim Jim --they also have some more exotic meats in their freezer case towards the side of the store. Examples: venison, pheasant, etc.

I have a German heritage and grew up in a very German city in Canada called Kitchener. Growing up in Kitchener, I became accustomed to fine, old-style butchery, a dizzying array of handcrafted cured and smoked deli meats, and amazing sausages. Dittmer's does all of that. On top of which, they make a damn fine sandwich! This is also the place I go to when I need to pick up a large quantity of fresh pork bellies, or rendered duck/goose fat, or freshly cut pork fat back, or a beautiful venison roast, or the best veal money can buy, or USDA prime beef, or... , or... , or... I think you get the point. Basically, if you're looking for something much more than a butcher counter in a specialty grocery store, this is the place to go.

Dittmer's is a staple of the neighborhood, providing high-quality cuts of many different types of meat as well as a decent selection of German groceries (sauces, sauerkraut, snacks, etc.) The bratwursts, sausages, and pork chops are of top-notch quality. Be aware though, that if you come here right before a holiday (think Thanksgiving or Christmas) the place will be absolutely PACKED!

Dittmer is a great place for several things. I went there to get a recommendation for which meat to buy for a quiche. The German butcher there recommended the Coppa, which he gave us 2 slices to sample, and it turned out perfectly for that kind of recipe. The place also makes sandwiches like a deli, and they are delicious, as the meat is of very high quality. They also had warm wurst samples for us to try. They have a well stocked grocery store as well, with German food products of all kinds, from Katzen Ohren liquorice candy (cat ears) to Ritter Chocolate and strange pickled things. I would warmly recommend Dittmer's to everyone looking for great meat, great customer service and great choice.

First visit today, and I am impressed. Lots of options for German sausage I don't see very often, and so excited they had knackwurst! The meat quality looks amazing, and the prices are great. Lots of stuff other than meat too - German mustards, honey, European jams and chocolate, bread from Esther's, German pastas, pickles... We got a basket full of various meats, plus other things, and it was much less than what I would pay at the grocery store. This place will be our go-to for many things from now on.

You cannot beat Dittmer's for their selection of cured meats, deli meats, and specialty animal products and parts (e.g. sweetbreads, cow tongue). Personally, I find the Mozart loaf to be quite tasty. My wife likes the jagdwurst. Also, you can get great little pieces, like pork neck bone, for a very good price-- makes a great soup base or addition. Last, from what I hear their deli sandwiches are fantastic. I can't wait to get one someday soon.

This is one of the best butchers I've ever heard of. Some friends who have moved away have try to find equivalent butchers but failed . Wouldn't surprise me if this were one of the best butchers in the country. They have an incredible selection of meats, smoked meats deli goods and what have you. It's all German style. yesterday they had a fantastic array of sample goods put out in anticipation of Oktoberfest. They had sausages flavored with vegetables or cheese and it was the first time I tasted sausages where the flavorings absolutely sang out fresh and clear against a backdrop of smoky sweet meats. Competitors offer inferior goods for higher prices. I went to one of the local supermarkets and picked up an allegedly smoked ham hock and what I got was something that look like a black mango and tasted like mystery meat marinated in chemical smoke. I kept thinking Dittmer's was for special occasions until I took another look at the prices and realized I was doing myself a great disservice.

What an amazing Wurst palace... you can get all the German sausages, cold cuts, smoked meats, mustard, comfort foods, chocolates and sweets. On top of it, a pretty decent butcher shop with all the other "regular" cuts of meat.
