Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very welcoming to the unitiated and not snobby as with past experiences with local butchers. Pretty much the complete opposite of a "soup nazi" establishment. Not once did they scream "No soup for you!" and throw me out.

Ok. For all the folks who think this place is "Great"....that SMELL that hits you as soon as you walk in IS NOT NORMAL in a GOOD butcher's shop. Quick lesson in figuring out if the meat is SAFE/GIOD: FISH--DOES NOT BEGIN TO SMELL "FISHY" UNTIL IT HAS ALREADY STARTED TO "TURN" --------Causes: fish wasn't "fresh" to begin with. It was allowed to "sit" exposed to open air and or get "warm" (even if re-cooled") Same goes for EVERY OTHER MEAT. Either this place ISN'T storing the raw meats properly (and) or the stock isn't fresh. Another contributing factor: poor waste disposal...and/or poor ventilation. The last two are also cause for concern. If the ventilation and or plumbing are sub-par, one can only guess about other "things" being below standard. I've been in this shop 3x and backed out each time, hand over mouth and nose. Actual stockyards don't smell this badly. As well, The Flying Dutchman in Fredericksburg, Tx and The Meat Shop in La Grange, Tx have NEVER SMELLED LIKE THIS SHOP. Simply my opinion, but, it's based on experience, as well as an uncle who owns a BBQ restaurant and a mother who owned an international cuisine restaurant, and a sister who has worked in the restaurant business for nearly 40yrs (trained butcher, manager for chain-steakhouse)...

Picked up some thick cuts of beef filets and they cooked up great on the grill. Their bread however was horrible. We got a loaf of their bread and it looked like an artisan garlic and parmesan baked loaf and very eye appealing. But after you opened it up, it was just a dense not tasty at all white bread. I would have been better off with french baguette from Walmart or Panera. The baker there could use some lessons. The bread was fed to our chickens.

Richards is a local staple in fayetteville and I absolutely love coming here whenever I'm making a special dinner. The meat is highest quality and the sides are great too. Even the lunches they have are both really good and really big for the price. On top of that they have more spices and sauces than I would ever know what to do with and even more exotic meats. And on top of all that (!) They sell local produce. You really need to hit this place up.

First off, there's a lot of people who really like this place (my grandma included). Im sure it's been around a while and there are lots of loyal customers. However, when i walked in the smell that hit me was the first red flag. It was ROTTEN. The meat shops i go to in springdale smell nicer. Red flag #2, the temperature and air (or lack thereof). It was like 80 degrees in there man. In a MEAT market. The ventilation was non-existent, there was pink meat film on the glass cases and the fish was 100% starting to turn. I took a video of flies IN the meat case landing on meat. The isles are cramped, staff seemed nice though. I feel bad for them. Idk if you guys used to be good back in the day to get all these loyal customers but you guys have let go, and i cant be the only one to notice.

There is a whole lot packed into this small shop: Steaks, seafood, sausages, deli meats, cheeses, pre made meals, pre made raw meals you cook at home, spices, sauces and other cooking supplies. This place is also a great place to get lunch. They have daily lunch specials that are a great deal as well as a regular lunch menu. No searing inside so it is carryout only for lunch. Friendly and relatively fast staff. Only negative to some people is the smell.. it is a butcher shop and smells like one with the fresh raw meats and fish. I like the smell but some do not. They also sell live crawfish seasonally. Great place.

This place has been my go-to butcher since 2008, when I moved to NWA. They really know their meat, prepares them exactly the way I want it, and I am always impressed with the quality. It's a small store but they got everything you need to cook a good meal like veggies, seafood, breads, pastas, and huge line of seasonings, including their own recipe. I wish they stayed open a little longer b/c sometimes it's hard to get there before 6pm on weekdays but this store is worth the trip.

This meat market is tucked away a block or so off of North College, and well worth a visit. We originally found it when just exploring the area, maybe going to the now closed fabric store. They have a wide selection of fresh meats, certainly. They also have many items like hot sauces, pickles of all sorts, and spices and spice blends. The inventory is densely packed, and it is enjoyable to stop by to browse, but be warned: you will most likely find something you want to purchase. They have their own parking lot, so once you take the side streets to get there, finding parking is no issue.

Nice fish selection, and a solid place to get crawfish during season. Their Turdukin, Smoked meats, and fixins are awesome for the holidays if you are too busy to do it yourself. They also have some great lunch options. It is by far my favorite local market to shop.

Since I have three boys in school who eat a ton of food I decided to buy a ham at Sam's Club since this is the most economical way for me to provide lunches for my son's. I took it to Richard's and asked if they could slice it for me. They said that they would and it took about ten to fifteen minutes. The guy came out with a $10.50 charge to slice the ham! If it only take fifteen minutes then they must pay their employees $40/hour to cut meat. I told him that the last time I had a ham sliced I was only charged $3. He got pissy and only charged me $5 and said he would never slice my ham again and he told his employee not to slice ham for me anymore. So much for your friendly local meat market! I won't ever go back there and the store is tiny and it really, really stinks in there.
