Order food on Postmates from them. The steaks were dry, my steak wasn't medium rare. The gravy and potatoes weren't good either. My fiance order onion rings and french fries and tender. Onion rings and french fries were soggy. The chicken didn't even taste like chicken and it was dry.

I've been going to this place for about 15 years now for my meats and enjoy eating at the restaurant from time to time. I read some of the bad reviews and have an extremely hard time believing these people have even ever been here or even know how to cook!! Sounds like angry old snowbirds more than anything. I grew up in Iowa and go back frequently, the meat at Midwest is better than what I get up there. If you want quality pork, beef, or even chicken--this is the place to go!!!

Been to this restaurant a few times and have always been pleased. The staff is efficient and super nice, the place has a family cozy atmosphere and the food is good. On my most recent visit, on Valentine's day, the place was super busy, as you'd expect. A fairly new employee, Ashley, really impressed me. She continually refilled our beverages and later took over the cashier station. She did a great job of eliminating a long line of folks with ease and a smile! For management, Ashley is a keeper! Give her a raise!

My wife and I eat here about once every 2-3 weeks. The food is always great. The service is well above other "fine" restaurants in town. The bakery and butcher shop always at their best with service, prices and product.. Anyone that gives a bad review must be thinking of another place.

The butcher shop is amazing and has a wonderful selection of meats. Employees ALWAYS go above and beyond to be helpful and courteous. They have an old style customer service that is hard to find now and is highly appreciated. The HIDDEN GEM is they also have a restaurant that has amazingly fresh and wonderful food. One of the few places my husband and I can fulfill our liver and onions cravings. I know, not many like it, but everything on their menu is awesome. I would highly recommend Midwestern Meats!

Have been buying filet mignon from you for the past 25 years, very disappointed this time, small pieces wrapped in bacon not one solid piece, some pieces very tender other pieces tough. We normally butterfly them but impossible with the little chunks, c'mon you guys if your not getting enough money, charge more but don't lower the quality.

I have been a customer since they have been in existence in Mesa, I shop here for all of my meats and have been very satisfied. Any time that i have had an issue, I spoke to the manager and have always been taken care of. I purchase 2" sliced prime rib regularly and I don't ever get steak out THE BEST OF THE BEST

This place is a bakery a restaurant and old-school butcher and is some of the best service I've ever gotten it is definitely worth visiting it has a family atmosphere and yet feels adult at the same time the bakery is very fresh the butcher has some of the freshest Meats available. Not every visit has been without a hitch, but they're always able to fix any problems without any hesitation and are always wanting to make you a hundred percent satisfied with whatever you purchase at any of the three stores that are incorporated into this one business. It's medium priced, but if you go and look for the right deals on the right days you can save a ton of money for the freshest restaurant quality food and still be able to go next door to the bakery and butcher to get stuff for later at home. Great concept great people great ownership and quality that's lacking in most businesses these days I will be back as many times as I can afford.

Best meat market around. We have done comparisons with AJs and MM meat was better. OUTSTANDING "Our Own" baby back ribs! Very meaty and always flavorful. They will work with you on custom meat cuts too...just ask. The bakery has great glazed donuts...classic old-time bakery flavor, not like a mass produced grocery store ones. The restaurant is good. Their Friday fish fry is really good and fairly priced. Please don't be cheap...tip your waitress!

The mac and cheese, well I have had better lots of places. The first time I had a pork tender loin sandwich. Now that was very good. I suppose they stay true to the name their best items are the meat.

Always get good service and great food here. They are three places in one. First they are a restaurant. Second, they are a bakery, good stuff here too. Third, a meat market. Before you BBQ, you need to visit here. They off great cuts of meats.

Always ask for fresh cuts on a steak for the price they are asking. Do not get any of the brats or sausage made in house. The trim for it can be a month old or longer frozen. Do not take the 1 pound frozen ground chuck prepacked that they drop the price on. Do not under any circumstances get an "aged meat bundle". Unless you want steaks that have been frozen for 5 plus months. If you order a bundle or side expect a long wait. Even if it is already paid for. And if you ask for delivery expect to jump through hurdles to get it on time. Even if you already gave them payment from it. Just be ready to work with there time table not yours. They relay on charisma and stretching truths to keep there numbers up at the expense of there own customers.

Came in for bone meal for making various nutritional meals. Everything looked great but the knowledge level for the employees are lacking. They had never heard of bone meal and didnt know what it was. How can you be a butcher/meat supplier and not know what bone meal is. Makes me wonder how they prep there meats

They also have a lot of condiments that can only be bought in the Midwest like cookies BBQ sauce. They also have a restaurant and bakery but I haven't eaten there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was very disappointing. We have been driving by this restaurant for years and have been saying how we wanted to try it. We finally did it and we're very disappointed. the food was very institutional and almost cafeteria like. The steaks were cooked well and tasted good but my husband ordered the t-bone and only got strip, no fillet. Afterwards we went over to the bakery and ordered some dessert to take home and when we got home they were disgusting. They tasted as though the flour had gone bad and tasted very artificial. We threw them away. The staff was wonderful though and very attentive to our needs but we will not go back. We love supporting our local restaurants but this was sad. We have heard wonderful things about their butchery, we may go back to buy meat.

Home cooked dinner. The Prime Rib and all the cuts of meat may not be all "snazied" up like a fancy steakhouse, but they are every bit as good and half the price. The chicken fried chicken is awesome!

Excellent food and first class service at a very reasonable price. My wife and I went for the second time last weekend, and for $25 plus tip she got the most delicious grilled salmon (they offer 7 different salmon dinners) she has had in a long while, and I got an 8 oz sirloin, thick and juicy, both dinners coming with all the trimmings including dessert, with extremely attentive service. Because of the country restaurant ambiance, this is not a fine dining experience. But if you desire simply delicious food that won't pinch your wallet, and a pleasant, attentive server, this is the place for you.

It has to be very flavorful and cooked perfectly for me to enjoy otherwise I don’t eat meat very often. I saw a video online about prime rib and I’d never had that before. So I went on google maps looking for a butcher shop to buy some to make at home. I happened upon Midwestern Meats and saw that they had a restaurant with good reviews. Why mess up expensive beef at home when I can have it made for me by someone who knows what they’re doing??? So my husband and I went that very evening. I tried my very first prime rib and I am so happy it was here. It was so delicious and I will keep coming back and probably get the same thing that’s how much this non meat eater loved it. Oh and don’t get me started about the onion rings! The best I’ve ever had and my husband and I have had many kinds of “homemade” onion rings. Keep doing what you’re doing. I want to get more people my age (30s) to come to this place. It looked to be a favorite of my parents generation but more people need to know about this place.

Our retirement community sponsors weekly events with one of them being Midwestern Meats dinner at least once a month. During the winters our groups are larger when all of the snowbirds are in town. But during the summer those of us who call Arizona home look forward to the 2-for-one meal that Midwestern Meats offers. We printed the 2 for one specials for July & August & planned our events. We arrived last night and after being seated, learned that this special was no longer being offered. I'm sure others were disappointed as well as the restaurant was nearly empty. I heard others asking about the special only to be told it wasnt available. You would think that if a group comes in knowing about the special that it would have been honored (we always make reservations.) There are so many other restaurants in the area that will welcome our business starting next week. We had to cancel our August event to Midwestern Meats Restaurant.

Awesome old school butcher shop in the east valley. The selection of meats is fantastic, and of your looking for authentic mats and sausages from the Midwest, you'll find it here. One look at the meat case you can tell this is high quality beef, and prices aren't too outlandish. Yes, it's probably more than you pay at a grocery store, but it's literally a cut above grocery store meats. Staff is friendly and helpful. Attached to the bakery (which is awesome in a whole different way) and restaurant, you have to look for the sign for restaurant and bakery, then as you walk up turn right to find the meat shop. Worth the drive.

Went in on Thursday 4/23/15 with my wife & daughter. We were looking for a brisket for our small family. We purchased a seasoned 4 pound brisket for $33. Went home and cooked it in our smoker on Saturday. It came out so delicious! Perfect amount of fat on it. Will be going in on every weekend now to purchase our meat for our BBQ Saturdays. Staff was helpful and friendly. Gave my kid a sucker which she loves. Highly recommend. It is a little pricey but what can you expect for good quality meat. If you don't mind spending some cash then come here but if your stingy then go to Wal-Mart you cheap-O.

9/6/2019 at 5 p.m.. Was really looking forward to the king cut prime rib. It came out at room temperature. The prime rib wasn't tender at all and no flavor. Friendly staff, food terrible. I will leave the prime rib cooking to Texas Roadhouse from now on. I won't even come back to try something else.

I've been getting the same dozen donuts a month here for the last 10 yrs. Today they were $3 more. When I asked why they told me they were different prices with no dozen discount. When I pointed out they were marked the same the lady told me they were marked wrong and I had not been charged correctly in the past. I didn't want to make a scene so I let it go. When I got to work there were only 11 donuts in the box. Great donuts, bad staff.

Oh my It had been awhile since I visited MM because of health issues (about 2 years) and I stopped in today and picked up their pastrami and was amazed at how wonderful this gem really is Everything homeade from breads, deserts, pastries, pies, smoked meats and their awesome premium selection of meats and sausage But what takes my breath away is the stunning quality and flavor of their Awesome Pastrami. OUTSTANDING. Nothing better anywhere. Service was excellent. Amazing Pastrami. Expensive at 10 a pound but worth every penny Way better than boarshead or any other Pastrami I have eaten. Perfect

I have always gotten the best cuts of meat here until this time. The Prime Rib I bought there for Christmas was so tough I was looking for wip marks from the jocky. I think they were over whelmed with orders and the quality of meat was allowed to fall drastically. Hopefully the quality of meat will be back next time.

Have gone to this place for several years and have never had a bad experience. If you live here and you are from Iowa and long for a breaded pork tenderloin this is the place for you. I also purchase great Iowa meat at the meat market including a large prime rib for a crowd. Butchers are always helpful when you have questions.
