My husband talked me into going to Mr. Prime Beef. We went in and we're ready to get stuff, but they kept helping everyone but us. Never going back again. Fred Meyer and Carrs are way better.

Excellent customer service! Their Tenderloin's are excellent! Our Giant schnauzer's loves his Turkey necks and they package them up as individual servings to be frozen which reduces the headache of keeping up the raw diet.

Their meats are high in quality but definitely on the pricier side. They are willing to cut your meat the way you like and they have lots of marinades, dry rubs, etc. to enhance your food. I recommend the New York steak.

I probably order 100+ pounds a month of food from Heather for my dogs, all special order stuff, and she is always willing to accommodate! Her staff is top notch amazing and always friendly! And oh my word, whatever her ratio is on her burger patties....simply amazing, the only seasoning we use is garlic salt and they are to die for on an onion bun mmmmmm.

I overheard some one who appeared to be a owner or manager. She was a female yelling at an employee in a very threatening and unprofessional manner to where this employee looked pale in the face and very upset. I was absolutely appalled at how someone could call themselves a supervisor, and treat someone like that even in front of customers. But of course this is not the first time I have seen this behavior here. I have witnessed employees cursing at each other very disrespectfully, instead of helping the guests that were waiting. We were ignored until this endeavor was over. Not that we were interested in continuing to buy anything at all, but I have been coming here for years and needed to pick up my order so I stayed.That being said I have also witnessed older employees coughing all over the place and handling orders without washing their hands and reaching for food items with contaminated gloves, and continuing to cough over the food even while cutting meats. It was an older gentleman. I had never been so disgusted in my life. I mentioned it to a younger employee, and i'm not sure where it went after that. That being said, I also saw that same employee a couple weeks ago, when I took my grandson to the restroom, thats located in the back hallway. He had his white coat on and did not remove it. Then he came back out continuing to help customers. I am unaware of if he washed his hands, but nonetheless that is not practicing food safety. Wearing your white coat , where there are bodily fluids exposed, is disgusting. I was disgusted this day, but thank goodness this man was not helping me or my grandson. In closing, I would like to also mention the female cashier who appeared to be inebriated to where I could smell it. She was also an older woman. I mean for a business to be around for so long, they sure are having a hard time keeping the back of the house looking as good as their meats. I think that anyone looking for great meats, this would be an amazing place but has fallen apart with the staff and its owners. I will no longer be coming here after being ignored today for a while. This was the last straw for me and I hope that people see this review and know what they are in for. Goodbye prime beef. Shape up or else lose more valuable customers like my family, and your employees. Thanks but no thanks.

Everytime I have gone into Mr. Prime Beef they never have what I need. I was there today looking for 2lbs of 80/20 ground chuck all the had was 90/10. For a butcher shop to only have 90/10 is pretty pathetic, that's my opinion at least. Mr. Prime Beef is a butcher shop, they needs more variety.

Very disappointed in the choice prime rib we purchased for Thanksgiving. We decided to pay the extra money ($140 for under 8 pounds) for the choice cut this year and cooked it as we always do. It was very tough and tasteless. We’ll probably be going back to Costco.

Really nice place. Have not had everything but prices are fair, quality is top. I love all of their bacon, house special beans, and smoked chickens. They may be the best smoked chickens I've had in Alaska. Nice staff as well.

There is nothing wrong with the cuts of meat at this place. My issue with this place was the service. I'm sure some people go in here and don't know what they want or the difference between the cuts. Those people probably ask for help. However, not everyone needs help or your opinion. My fella and I went in to look at steaks and maybe pick up a few other things. The guy "helping" us gave my guy 0 advice, but just kept talking and forcing his opinions on me even though I had already disagreed with him. People like different cuts, and that's ok... or at least it should be. I realize I'm just a girl and a lot of women are clueless when it comes to this. Most women would just smile and agree when the first words out of his mouth were "you must want a filet mignon". I'm not that girl. I grew up on a farm in TN, where we raised and butchered our own. What I want is to be left alone so I can shop. I tried to be polite and disagree. He just wouldn't stop. Eventually I just got a steak and told my guy we were leaving. I didn't want to spend another minute of my time with this clueless guy breathing down neck. He was not clueless about the meat, he was clueless about customer service. When someone tries to disengage let them go! **** I'm not trying to talk anyone out of going here. Like I said the cuts are nice from what I've seen, and they have good extras. But, if you are a women expect to be treated like a clueless girl. I'm not a leftie or a feminist.... this is just my experience. My feelings were justified when as we were walking out and my guy said, "he wouldn't quit, you were obviously annoyed and wanted to be left alone. I could tell from the way you stopped looking up and barely responded." I personally will not go back.

There is no better beef than at Mr Prime Beef here in Anchorage! I also buy pork and chicken, duck fat for cooking steaks and even bones for my dogs.... They even cut the bones for me because I have a large dog and a tiny one so they need specific sizes to eat.... I buy filet Mignon and new York steaks a lot... They are better here than any restaurant! This is the very best place to buy top quality meat in Anchorage!

Stopped by to check out what was inside this mysterious corner store. The selection was amazing and took a look at everything before buying. The old fashioned hot dogs I grew up with on the East coast are closely replicated here. It absolutely amazing how one bite brought me back years into my past. My only suggestion would be is to work on the employee morale because we as customers don't want to be served by depressed looking staff. Some were in a fantastic mood while others just so so. I'll definitely be back and I'm thankful that this place is an option.

I called ahead of time to see if they had what I wanted in stock. The gentleman replied they did. When I arrived at their store, only one person knew out of maybe 4 others that they had it in their back room. One gentleman told me they were waiting for a shipment. It would be nice for all of the workers to know what's in stock in order to serve their customers. Other then that, it was good.
